If you are planning to pursue higher studies abroad then Canada is the best option because of a wide variety of courses and very nominal cost of living plus the friendly atmosphere of the country will make you fall in love with this place.

Let’s get to know about the education system in detail with this article.

Reasons to choose Canada to study

Education and scholarship in Canada

Canada is one of the best places to pursue your higher studies and the country attracts thousands of students each year from abroad. The country provides world class education which is recognized globally. Degree from a Canadian university is considered of great value which is equivalent to US, Australia and other European Countries.  Both the Government and Universities provide benefits especially for the students to pursue their studies successfully. The high academic standard and quality education help the students to come out of the universities with flying colours.

Campus lifestyle

Every university has its own events and parties which involve students, concentrating not only to study but also cultural events that help to mingle with multicultural people in the university. These events remove all the stress and give a physical workout to body. Universities provide a number of extracurricular activities where one can stand out of the crowd with their talents both university wise and country wise.  Most of the Universities give students the access to free Wifi , Daily newspapers, journals, magazines and many more.

Employment opportunities

During studies students are permitted to take up part time jobs both on campus and off campus. No work permit is needed to work on campus and students are allowed to work upto 20 hours / week. There are number of part time jobs available off campus like jobs in Hotels, hostels, general labor, Tutor etc.

Research value

The universities support the students who come out with best research ideas and many scholarships are given to student for their research works. Students can do research in any field they are interested with the support of lecturers in the university. If the idea of research is good, Industries and government come forward to accept the cost of your research.

Beautiful place and environment

Students not only can feed their minds but also feast their eyes with the beauty of Canada. Canada attracts large number of tourists each year who visit the astonishing places and enjoy the beauty of nature. Students enjoy exploring nature, wildlife and many other amusement parks. Students in coastal line can enjoy the views of Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean.

Education system in Canada

The education system in Canada is not very different or difficult but it is a mixture of American and British education plan.

There are three types of institutions here:

Public universities: these universities in Canada are run by the provincial, territorial or federal government funding besides receiving the tuition fees from students.

Private Universities: Private universities in Canada are mostly funded by donations and research grants. These universities do not receive funding from the government bodies.

Liberal Arts Colleges: Liberal arts colleges in Canada are pretty similar to that in the USA. These are either public or private colleges, with a primary emphasis on undergraduate courses in liberal arts.

Study options

There are three academic intakes at the institutions in Canada: fall, winter and summer. Fall lasts from September to December, winter lasts from January to April and summer lasts from May to August. Though fall is the primary intake in most colleges, some colleges do offer a winter intake.

International students are advised to apply at the earliest, as scholarships and admissions get more and more competitive closer to the deadline. A typical application deadline would be 6 to 9 months before your session starts, and it can vary depending on each department and the subject of choice. Though deadlines are not flexible, except for diploma programmes, some institutions might accept students if seats are available.

Students can choose from a number of study programmes

  • Certificate or diploma (One or two years)
  • Advanced diploma (Two or three years)
  • Undergraduate (three or four years)
  • Postgraduate (two years)
  • PhD (four or five years with dissertation)

Some popular courses at the undergraduate level are engineering and administrative studies and at the postgraduate level are management, finance, MBA/MIM, MS and LLB degrees.

Cost of studying in Canada

On average, students will have to shell out CAD 10,000–40,000 per year.

Annual living expenses will depend on the living location you prefer and the type of accommodation that suits you, i.e., private, homestay or on-campus accommodation. On average, students pay CAD 6,000–8,000 per year for their accommodation. Of course, the transport and other expenses should be factored in. And one more thing that you can’t avoid is a health insurance that costs CAD 600 (approx.) per year.

International students can work part time for 20 hours per week – generally the first six months on campus and off campus post this period. Some universities with more intensive courses allow their students to work for nearly 12 hours since working for more hours can affect their students’ performance.

International students can apply for work permit post their studies, which gives them the opportunity to work in the country for a three-year period.

Scholarships for international students

Both government and non-government scholarships are available for international students in Canada. These include –

Government scholarships

  1. Canada graduate scholarships
  2. NSERC postgraduate scholarships

Non-government scholarships

  1. Canadian Rhodes Scholars Foundation scholarship

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World

0

A person can travel around the world in not 80 days, but less than 80 hours. But even if he spends a lifetime, he cannot properly explore every nook and cranny of this planet. That is how huge, how diverse and how wonderful our planet Earth is.

There are all kinds of places on Earth, some creepy, some beautiful, and some both. And with the increasing craze of adrenaline-inducing activities among the masses, all kinds of adventure sports and manmade attractions are cropping up out there.

With that said, here is a list of top 9 scariest attractions in the world in terms of how high your heart rate rises up to:

Island of Dolls, Mexico

Source- www.mysteriousfacts.com

This famous island is present in every “Creepiest Places Around The World” list on the internet. Isla de las Munecas or Island of Dolls is a tiny island south of Mexico famous for the hundreds of dolls adorning every inch of the island. These dolls are just EVERYWHERE, and they look as if their eyes are following you around. According to legend, one fine day some hundred years ago, the caretaker of the island Don Julian found the dead body of a little girl floating near the coast. And then a few days later, he found a doll floating in water exactly where he’d found the body.

Assuming that the doll belonged to the dead girl, Julian hung the doll on a tree to pay homage to her soul. But allegedly the spirit of the girl kept tormenting Julian to the point of insanity. To calm the spirit down, Julian kept making similar dolls and hanging them all over the island. Finally, after 50 years of hanging dolls, Julian was found dead at the exact same spot as the girl. Ever since the island has become a tourist spot for the lovers of the supernatural. According to the locals, the spirits of the dead girl and Julian possess these dolls. They have reported the dolls moving around and even whispering when night falls. Creepy, isn’t it?

Nagoro Village, Japan

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- theverge.com

The story and the vibe of this village are somewhat similar to that of the Island of Dolls. Nagoro is a tiny village in Japan where there are more dolls than people. These dolls are so lifelike that an oblivious person will mistake them for real people from a distance. You can see these dolls everywhere, positioned around the village in different ways. They are there in the fields, on the streets, near the river with a fishing rod, and even inside classrooms. All of them are positioned the way they would be if they were actually human.

The story goes back to 11 years from today, when a lady named Tsukimi Ayano came back home from Osaka after many years. When she’d left, the population was around 300, but it dropped to 35 after she came back. Most people had left for cities in search of employment, and the remaining had died from poverty. So to cure her loneliness and inhabit the village, she started making dolls out of straw. Tsukimi is an artist, so the dolls she made were extremely lifelike. She made hundreds of these dolls and placed them everywhere in the village, Today there are more than 400 dolls adorning every nook and cranny of the village. The story behind how they came there is sweet. But the creep factor rises exponentially when you’re walking around the village alone after dark.

The Catacombs of Paris

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- thetimes.co.uk

This place has to be one of the creepiest places on this planet, even though it is now a government-regulated tourist attraction. Paris has a complex underground maze stretching over an area of more than 300 km right below the city. And in the narrow twisted lanes of this maze reside the remains of more than 6 million Parisians. In the 18th Century, when the epidemic plagued the citizens of Paris, the death toll increased at an alarming rate. So much so that even the cemeteries of Paris couldn’t accommodate the dead bodies. The city stank of dead bodies, especially after they littered the streets post floods. To solve this problem, the citizens of Paris started depositing these dead bodies in the underground spy network of Paris. They continued doing this until after WWII when the remains of enemies too were buried along with the rest.

Eventually, when the bodies decomposed, only the bones remained. Now, the Government of Paris has turned the catacombs into a historical tourist attraction. The bones are now arranged in aesthetic structures around the maze. Walking through the quiet, damp and dark lanes of these catacombs is one of the creepiest things one can experience. The catacombs are also made creepier by the fact that a large area of this endless maze is not even mapped. In these unmapped areas operate weird groups and cults of people, and are also dotted with swampy pools. And who knows, you may even encounter a spirit or two from the medieval times!

Suicide Forest, Japan

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- mentalfloss.com

Aokighara forest, a few miles from the majestic Mount Fuji, is so dense that it is also called the “Sea of Trees”. But this forest also has as many number of suicides credited with it as the number of trees. Every year, more than 100 people willingly give up their lives inside this forest. In fact, some depressed people go to this forest just to commit suicide. This is how the forest got this name. The reason for suicide is assumed to be the melancholy atmosphere of the forest. Aokighara forest is so dense that even sunlight cannot penetrate the leafy canopy at most places.

The darkness accompanied by an eerie quiet, and the compasses rendered useless by the high concentration of iron ores in the ground, makes it very easy to get lost. After wandering around for what feels like an eternity, the only option seems to be death. But that is just an assumption. No one can say for sure that this answers the “why”. Japanese police have hung signs on trees saying “Your life is a precious gift from your parents” to cheer the lost people up. But in vain. The condition is so bad that the government has stopped sending search parties to the forest. They are now afraid that the search party members will get lost too.

Death Road, Bolivia

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- curiosity.com

The 69 km long North Yungas road is one of the few roads that connect Bolivia’s capital La Paz to the town of Coroico near the Amazon rainforest. And up until 10 years ago, it used to be the only road. This road has been aptly named “Death road”, because hardly ever has anyone made it alive after having traveled on this road. From La Paz, this road climbs up to 4650 meters before rising to 1190 meters. The deadly cliffs, hairpin turns, innumerable landslides, and an inescapable fog makes it one of the deadliest roads on this planet.

Many mountaineers, bikers, and adventure-seekers come to this road lured by the beautiful mountainous terrain that can be seen on the road. But everyone who has come here has paid the price with their lives. Today, the road has been widened and leveled a little to make it less dangerous. New roads have also been constructed between La Paz and Coroico to make traveling less hazardous. But even after all the modifications, North Yungas road is one of the deadliest roads on the planet. Now it is hardly ever used except by the occasional villager or adventurer.

Tianmen Glass Skywalk, China

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- bbc.com

China is home to a number of breathtaking skywalks, but this is the highest and the most exhilarating of all. 4700 feet above the valleys of Tianmen mountain peak stretches this 200-meter long bridge made entirely of glass. This bridge is 3 feet wide and 2.5 inches thick. What makes it so exhilarating is the narrowness of the bridge, its height above the ground. And the fact that you can see the deep valley stretching endlessly right below your feet. Not to mention that the bridge swings to and fro all the time owing to the strong winds at this altitude.

You need not worry though because the glass of this bridge is so strong that it can withstand the weight of two big trucks at the same time. The view from this skywalk is absolutely breathtaking, what with the beautiful snowy mountain peaks all around and the green valleys below. If you love the thrill and adrenaline-inducing activities, this is definitely for you. But not if you are acrophobic. NOPE.

Step Into The Void, Chamonix

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- alamy.net

This is yet another famous tourist attraction with a mind-blowing exhilaration and thrill factor. Imagine that you have been suspended in the air more than 1000 feet above the ground, and the thrill you will feel at that. This is exactly what you experience at the Chamonix skywalk over the Aiguille du Midi mountain peak in France. This skywalk isn’t just a skywalk, it ends into a glass box protruding from a metal frame set into the mountain right at the peak. One has to travel the entire height of the mountain for 20 minutes in a cable car to reach this glass box.

Once you reach, you step into the glass box (the void), and it is as if you are suspended in the air right above the mountain. From this glass box, one can see everything around, above and below them. The mountainous terrain all around, the beautiful French sky above, and the mountain climbers down below in the breathtakingly beautiful valley. The view is amazing, the thrill factor exceeds all scales of measure, and the mental satisfaction is mind-blowing. What more would an adventurer want?

Zipworld Velocity 2

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- zipworld.co.uk

If you want something less cliche and as exhilarating as sky-diving, this is the perfect adventure sport for you. Zipworld Velocity 2 is a crazy creation of the Zipworld Penrhyn Quarry based in Bethesda, Wales. This zip line is the fastest zip line in the world, reaching mind-blowing speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

Zipworld Velocity 2 provides you the ultimate flying experience, something you can only otherwise experience with sky-diving. There is nothing below you. All that keeps you from falling into the depths of the valley below is the harness that holds you close to the zip line. The zip line stretches for more than a 100 km and takes you along the entire quarry. Imagine coasting down steep valleys and up steeper mountains at neck-breaking speeds for 2 hours straight (yes, one ride lasts 2 hours). What could be more exhilarating than this, and scarier?

Door To Hell, Turkmenistan

Top 9 Scariest Attractions Of The World
Source- smithsonianmag.com

This place is literally right out of the mythological stories about the burning pits of Hell. The door to Hell is actually a crater in the Ahal district of Turkmenistan, right in the middle of a natural gas field. Scientists are still trying to solve the mystery behind this crater, which looks like a deep pit of fire. The crater looks like someone has left a lot of coal burning inside it, and now the pit is burning hot, red, and lethal.

It is so hot around the crater that no one can step into or even 5 meters in the vicinity of the crater without a special heat resistant suit. Scientists do not know the exact reason behind the fire. They suspect that it is actually methane gas burning due to the high pressures inside Earth. Turkmenistan is an extremely isolated country, with little to brag about. But the Door To Hell certainly does away with its otherwise isolated state. People from far and wide flock to Turkmenistan for a glimpse of this terrifying crater.

Intimidated just yet?

Can Aliens 65 Million Light Years Away See Dinosaurs?

0

All of us know that when we see an object in space through a telescope, we see it how it was many years ago. Light is what enables us to see. For nearby objects like your laptop screen and the walls of your room, distance doesn’t matter. But when we are talking about celestial bodies, the distance is too large to be measured in miles and km. Hence we use the “light year”, a measure that signifies the distance light travels in a year. Given how fast light is, it takes less than a nanosecond to travel from your eye to the laptop screen. Or the wall, or even a tree some 400-500 meters away.

But talking about a star some 30 quadrillion km away, it will take around 3 years. So you will see your laptop screen as it was less than a nanosecond ago which really doesn’t matter. But when you see the star through a telescope, you will see it how it looked 3 years ago, because it’s being illuminated by light that reached it now, having traveled from where you are 3 years ago. For all you know, that star may not even be there at present. But you will see it.

Coming to the topic of the day

Can Aliens 65 Million Light Years Away See Dinosaurs?

Dinosaurs existed on our planet some 60-65 million years ago. So if light and sight behave as I explained to you above, then theoretically, an alien 65 million light-years away should be able to see dinosaurs on Earth. The light that bounced off the dinosaurs 65 million years ago will reach this far-off planet right now, enabling aliens to see them. So, theoretically, the answer is yes. But practically, the truth is a lot more complicated.

The verdict of Science

Can Aliens 65 Million Light Years Away See Dinosaurs?

Think about it, were dinosaurs the only object light bounced off of 65 million years ago? Definitely not. And considering the enormous size of the universe, the Earth is smaller than the smallest existing microbe compared to it. And dinosaurs are even smaller.

Light is everywhere. The photons that constitute light bounce off every opaque object, and scatter in all directions. And when these photons are captured by the eye, they enable us to see the object. When the distance between our eye and the object is less, the photons aren’t able to scatter much before they reach the eye. But the greater the distance, the more these photons will scatter. And the more they scatter, the fewer photons make it to our eye. Hence, it becomes more difficult for us to see the object.

Now consider a celestial object, like a star several light years away. This star is so far away that we can only see a dot in place of the star unless we see it through a telescope. A telescope basically collects more photons that have bounced off the star, and concentrates this light so that we can see the star more clearly. The farther the star, the bigger and more powerful your telescope should be.

The alien telescope prognosis

Can Aliens 65 Million Light Years Away See Dinosaurs?

So again, theoretically speaking, our alien needs a huge, powerful telescope that will enable it to see dinosaurs on planet Earth. And considering that this alien lives 65 million light years away, you can only imagine how big and powerful the telescope needs to be to collect all the scattered photons that will enable it to see dinosaurs.
For an estimate, consider the world’s most powerful telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope. Its main lens has a diameter of around 6 meters and a resolution of 0.1 arc seconds, which means that this telescope can easily spot a penny more than 40 km away.

The JWST shall enable humans to see galaxies even a couple of billion light years away, but as small clusters of luminous dust, and not actually galaxies. If you want to be able to see a planet or star clearly using this telescope, the star should not be more than half a million light years away, at max. At this maximum limit, the star will only appear as a big dot in the sky.

This, my friends, is the largest and most powerful telescope built by humans. So assuming that these aliens use human technology, then the telescope has to be bigger than a city. By human standards, this telescope should have a lens more than 60kms in diameter. Not to mention a crazy resolution I can’t even give you an estimate of. And even with this huge telescope, planet earth will only appear as a dot to our alien friend. To see dinosaurs on Earth, as a dot, the diameter of this lens should be more than 4.5 light years, bigger than Earth itself!

The impossibilities don’t end here

Can Aliens 65 Million Light Years Away See Dinosaurs?

Considering that somehow, our aliens have the capability to build a telescope this huge. But according to nuclear physics, a body this huge cannot exist in space. There are some mass density rules our universe follows. Every object has a limit to how big it can be, depending on its density. This is because after an object acquires a certain mass if the mass is increased, a black hole is formed at the spot. It happens because every object that has mass bends the space-time fabric a little. More the mass, more the bend/curvature. When the mass is too high, this fabric curves so much that a black hole is formed.

So considering that the lens of this telescope is made of glass, the diameter of this lens should not exceed 28 light minutes. If it does, a black hole will be formed. So how will the alien construct a telescope 4.5 light YEARS wide without creating a black hole?

Conclusion

Theoretically, an alien 65 million light years can see dinosaurs on Earth. But practically, the laws of physics make it impossible, unless the aliens have some technology humans cannot comprehend. And why would they want to see dinosaurs, anyway?

Why should one watch The Flash Television Series?

0

This is the generation of the Internet and Social media. How can one forget to add on Netflix, Amazon Prime? Yes, this is where most of us are indulged in. Literally, you can see people watching Netflix and Amazon Prime while traveling in Metro, Buses. While doing a job or if you are a student, a teenager then you would not be able to cope it up along with your studies or job but you can utilize your time watching it while traveling.

Which of the Flash television series have you watched till now?

I guess F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is the evergreen series which most of us had watched or have planned to watch it. But, let me strongly recommend you to watch “THE FLASH”. Don’t get offended “FRIENDS” fans it is the best series but you should try other genre series as well.

Why should one watch The Flash Television Series?

Let me tell you the reason behind watching “THE FLASH”. It has been liked by 96% Google users and been rated 7.9/10. This series has gained 89% rating by rotten tomatoes and much more. I’m not saying you to go and watch series on the basis of these ratings rather see reviews what people have to say about this amazing series. Here is some more information you should go through if you are not satisfied with this much of information:

The Suspense:

Every season has something suspenseful and who doesn’t like suspense? When you are eager to know what will happen next you watch the very next episode even when you have no time. That’s the thing you get curious to know the rest of the story. The storyline is so amazing that you will never feel bored. Not only this even Barry the main character’s team member sometimes stands against him.

Barry’s story:

Barry Allen, the main character played by Grant Gustin who was just as ordinary in the show as other people. But once while working on his workplace he was struck by the lightning. After which he remained in a coma for nine months. His best friend Iris West which is played by Candice Patton. She being his best friend was really worried about his being in a coma and that too for so long. Internally, Barry always loved her not as a friend but as a girlfriend.

Barry became the Flash after waking up from the comma. The reason behind Barry being the flash is that when he was a child his mother was killed by someone or something which was not found or detected by police at the moment. For which Barry’s dad was arrested for doing a crime of killing his own wife which was not done by him. Since then Barry lived in Iris’s house. Iris’s father Joe who is the detective who keeps care of his daughter and Barry as Son.

Based on Comic:

The show itself did justice to the comic by making it alive. When you read like Barry runs fast and leaves red streak behind him doesn’t make much imagination in our mind. We don’t have a clear view of it. This series is based on comic. There is no more need to live in imagination. This imagination is fulfilled correctly as a series. Reading gets boring when you have the same series to watch. Hats off! To the whole cast and producers, writers and especially to screenplay they know how to give effects. Literally stole the hearts by making us live out of imagination.

The Time Travel Concept:

This is the series which is based on science-fiction, Action, Adventure, Mystery so it is necessary that it would have some extraordinary concepts. Barry achieved great speed and when he runs at super speed he opens a portal kind of thing which distracts him all the way while traveling through it. he sometimes lost his way home too. The time travel can lead him to future or past he just needs to focus on which timeline he wants to go he will get through it. This is an amazing concept. Even though it leads to several problems in the current timeline. Sometimes he relives the past moments and sometimes he changes his past related to his Mother. But it has always lead to problems.

Meta-humans:

Meta-humans according to this series are those who have some special abilities than an ordinary person. Even Barry is Meta-human. Meta-humans are also categorized into good and bad ones. Barry is the good Meta-human who takes the responsibility of keeping the people of Central City safe. Others appeared as good ones and later showed their chameleon colors. There are many such Meta-humans who first helped him and later tried to stab him in the back. But his team is his family who keeps him away from all the dangers. In this list comes Harrison Wells who helped Barry in all the planning’s to fight against bad Meta-Humans who later found in the face of famous Harrison wells Scientist was Eobard Thawne who was the murderer of Barry’s mother.

Zoom in the name of saving the planet stole the serum to gain the fastest speed even more than Barry with the help of Caitlin by making her fall for him. Savitar who is Barry himself from the future who says – “He is the god of speed.” And there many more such villains. You just need to watch them how they tackle each villain.

The Cast:

The main characters in the show are:

  1. Barry Allen
  2. Iris west
  3. Joe West
  4. Harrison Wells
  5. Cisco Ramon
  6. Caitlin
  7. Wally West
  8. Cecile

This is the team whom you will meet when you watch the show. The connection and relation between the whole team are marvelous. Coordination, the timing of each and every member supporting each other is so impressive that you will feel connected too.

The whole operation to save Central City is done from Star Labs. Barry Allen who is the CSI guy does an investigation on the crime scene. Iris west who is a news reporter/ blogger. Joe West is the detective. Harrison wells is the pure Science guy who mostly suggests the steps to be taken by the flash (Barry). Cisco Ramon is the mechanical guy who develops things like a cold gun which is capable of making iced layers. Caitlin is the doctor who eventually takes care of every team member and gives some techy ideas too. Wally west who is the brother of Iris west who is also seen in later seasons who also gained speed but not like Barry and was known as The KID FLASH. Cecile appears in the later seasons who becomes the wife of joe west.
