Delhi, a place where all your dreams come true, where people unite, which is called ‘Dilwalo ki Dilli’ [where people have the biggest of hearts], which is crazy and yet subtle, matures where you’ll learn to be independent and love yourself if not anything else. Its nature of all the places and yet forever young! No words are enough to ever describe Delhi. It’s magical, it’s trouble!

We, Delhiites know our city inside out. We know it’s not perfect and there are many more places better and cleaner and more developed. But deep inside, we know there’s no place like Delhi. After all, it’s home, sweet home! Here are some things only people who’ve been in Delhi would know:

  1. What’s heaven on earth? Metro! Obviously! (Not Delhi, lol)

In the summer, amidst the boiling city, our only relief is the God gifted Metro (not really God gifted, though). One, we only get out of our AC rooms if it’s urgent, that too if there’s no conveyance available, our only option is metro! ‘Auto rickshaw?’ What’s that?

  1. All the Delhiites have magical wardrobes, and no it’s not Narnia!

From Forever 21 to Sarojini Market’s street shopping, your wardrobes are full of magical stuff. Clothes, accessories, shoes, heels, all kinds of makeup, bags, 20 varieties of scarves, and what not? And no, you are not that rich. It’s just you know where to shop.

  1. “Heard about Paranthe wali Gali?” “No?” “Right, you’re not from Delhi!”

You totally connect with this dialogue from the movie ‘3 idiots’! Delhi is a bitch that way! Academics, Media, even for a metro seat, competition is omnipresent.

  1. Safety is the best policy!

Being in Delhi has made you so conscious, you’re aware even in your sleep. “You’re a girl, you aren’t supposed to go out late at night!” You have heard this phrase a million times. But you know how to take care of yourself at the end of the day.

  1. Modern and Ethical! “Are you kidding me?”

You’re the perfect combination of heritage values and modern ideology. You aren’t the typical conservative mind, but advanced enough to compete with the world. Woah!

Riview of Jolly LLB 2

Jolly  LLB 2 is a story of a man named Jagdeesh Mishra also known as  Jolly who is originally from Kanpur but his life takes him to Lucknow. The movie shows him grappling with himself and other people in order to be taken seriously as a lawyer, but his superior pays him that much attention as one would give to the bubble gum stucked under one’s shoes. Like one feels the presence of annoying gum under one’s shoes but does not at all wants to touch it, same becomes the case of “Jolly”.  He tries various methods to make little more money on side and his main goal seems to get one good lawyer chamber for himself. In order to achieve so, his methods lead him to terrible and horrific incident. By this time his entire energy and aim become focussed to right this wrong and he becomes so obsessed with it that he seemed to be ready to go against the system for doing so. Story is predictable but from here onwards it becomes twisted and keeps its audience hooked. What incredible and in favourr of the movie is stupendous performances of the actors, especially that of protagonist Akshay Kumar who took only thirty days to get this film completed! Moving from comic to dejected to confused without loosing the grip on viewers in courtroom scenes is another standout of the film. Anu Kapoor pulls of his character of ruthless and corrupt lawyer with full dedication. In some of the scenes he sunk so much in the character that he made people forget that they are watching a movie and the portrayal is just an act. He is ready to go to any length to get the outcome in favour of his clients as they offer him hefty bribes. Although rest of the cast is serviceable, Kumud Mishra as a corrupt police officer once again impresses us with his incredible performance. Huma Khureshi has a considerable presence but we wish her part would have been written in a better manner, to some extent she suffers on the account of flaws in the script.  Saurabh Shukla does exactly what he did in first part as a Justice but here he is dancing at “gulaboo” because of Alia Bhatt fondness that he has in the flick. Comparing it with the first part, we were hooked to the first part because it was a sitirical eassay on the social issues because of contaminated and corrupt practices in our country and the repeatation of the same portrayal at some places in Jolly LLB 2 makes this movie loose its novelty. Akshay Kumar too fights here like Arshad Warsi did in first part, but to glorify hos character Akshay’s part has been exaggerated by making him fight terrorism and portraying him running in Kashmir. The movie keeps viewers engaged but it also makes us miss the rawness of first part. But having said that, the movie is good and worth a watch!

Not everyone can afford a toilet and make Swach Bharat

Mohammed Shabbeer is a construction worker. He lives with his family of six in a tent, under the flyover in Vasant Kunj area of New Delhi. He shares this small area with over 150 people. The space they live on, can be hardly called a house It is more like pieces of old clothes wrapped around grills.The area is divided into small quarters with walls made of torn up clothes.

There is no bedroom, no kitchen and there are no toilets.All the men go to the nearest garbage site to relieve themselves in the morning And all the women to the nearest “sulabh shauchalya”(Public toilet). They need to pay Rs. 2 every morning to use the toilet and Rs.10 to use bathroom .If they want to wash clothes, another  Rs. 10  note need to be paid. Children use divider on the roads to defecate.”I’m living here for 35 years and It has always been this way.Because we can’t afford to pay ever day for using a toilet.We can only afford to pay for our wives and daughters .Why to blame the government when even god has abandoned us.”Says shabbier.When asked if he blames government for this.

All the men in this population of 150 are either construction workers or hawkers. With average income ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 400 a day, only if they get work.In such a situation either they can pay for food or for toilets.The thing which is most basic requirement for other Delhites,is a luxury for people like shabbeer. On one side there is Prime Minister’s ambitious scheme Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan,which says “Jahan soch vaha shauchalya”.And aims to make India open-defecation free by 2019.On the other side there is this part of urban India,which hardly has access to toilets.

A public toilet ,which poor can’t afford

The government is putting emphasis on the importance of construction of toilets in rural India.But there is not much thought given ,on how to make toilets affordable for urban population.Which is not capable to build individual toilet.Or has no land to get one constructed by the government.When you don’t own land ,you can’t possibly get a toilet. All the slum dwellers and people like shabbeer are compelled to use the community toilets. Which are not really clean and hygienic and if they are clean,not everyone can afford to pay, for using them.

In such situation,they are left with no choice but to defecate in open.Government claims that it has achieved construction of 1,14,221 community toilets in various cities.And there are 511 cities which are 100% open-defecation free. But the government’s claim still needs to be examined.Since,reality does not consolidate the data provided by the government.There is certainly much more which needs to be done to achieve 100%.

For such cases, an individual can avail family floater plans. The overall cost is divided among all insured members and thus, premiums are lower as compared to individual plans.

  • Check for NCB (No claim Bonus)

If the policyholder doesn’t make a claim in a previous policy tenure, the insurer rewards him/her with NCB, which further results in a higher insurance coverage at easy premium rates. However, this can be availed only if a policyholder renews the policy before the due date of the policy.

  • Purchase health insurance plans online

Ever since the advent of the internet, many facilities have been eased out for us. It helps saving time and money both. From apparel online shopping to buying insurance online, e-commerce stands out as one of the major aspects for saving money.
