Singing Bowls of Tibet

‘There is no organ system in the body that is not affected by sound, music, and vibration. You can look at disease as a form of disharmony.’Mitchell Gaynor

According to Quantum Physics, everything is made up of vibrations. Each and every matter vibrates with a specific frequency. Diseases in the human body are said to carry a low frequency which is why they are known to be a form of disharmony. So altering the frequency of matter can change its structure. Apart from ongoing research on different drugs, modern medicine has confirmed the practice of sound to promote healing. The sounds emitted in this therapy help recover the damaged cells and tissues and allow the DNA strands to repair themselves. One such technique is Tibetan bowl therapy, also known as singing bowl therapy.

Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, Director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at Cornell Cancer Prevention Centre in New York, suggested the Tibetan sound therapy to all his cancer patients. Gaynor said: “If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, and then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiological functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”

According to Bodhisattva, a great Tibetan master, the Singing Bowls of Tibet emit the ‘Sound of Void’, i.e. identical to Om, the primordial sound of the universe, which is also considered the root of all mantras in religious texts. These mysterious Tibetan bowls have been used for healing illness, balancing chakras, reiki, and meditation for centuries.

Ancestry of singing bowls

Singing Bowls of Tibet

A Singing bowl is an inverted standing bell that produces a sound of certain frequency when struck with a mallet on its edge, or by rotating the mallet on the outer rim of the bowl. Results from experiments have concluded that Tibetan singing bowls have radial and tangential motion in concurrent stable and unstable modes. Unlike gongs, these bells have their maximum vibration around the outer rim of the bowl. They come in various sizes ranging from few centimeters to meters in their diameter, where each size of bowl produces a distinct sound. The smaller bowls produce mild sounds whereas the larger ones emit deeper sounds.

The semi-round singing bowls, known as Tibetan singing bowls, are said to have originated from China in the early 11th to 13th century B.C.  The very first singing bowls are said to be made up of pure copper which were used for medicinal purposes. Bowls made of bronze and cast iron were also used in spiritual ceremonies and rituals. According to the folklore, these bowls were used by Tibetan lama and monks for secret sacred rituals and it is believed that they bestowed certain spiritual powers to the monks using them. Any information regarding the bowls was shrouded and not allowed to be shared even within the boundary of monasteries. These mysterious bowls were introduced to the world when the Tibetan monks had to sell them during their escape from the Chinese invasion of Tibet that occurred in the middle of the 19th century. Singing bowls have been used in Tibet, India, and Nepal for its holistic powers and healing.

The science of Tibetan healing sound

Tibetan sound therapy has been used for ages in meditation and deep healing. Martinz Skipper, a famous physiotherapist has said, “The vibrations from these bowls are the same as the brainwaves and they lead to deep concentration.” The sound generated by Tibetan singing bowl penetrates deep into the brain and stimulates it to produce theta brainwaves of higher frequency that evokes deep meditative states, clarity of intuition and profound peace.  Dr. David Simon, Medical Director at Deepak Chopra Centre says: “I could feel the vibration physically resonating through my body, touching my core in such a way that I felt in harmony with the universe. I immediately intuited that playing singing bowls would change my life and the lives of many of my patients.”

Tibetan sound therapy is almost similar to modern technologies like Brainwave entrainment, Isochronic Tones, and Binaural Beats. Diseases are said to be caused as a result of any blockage during the flow of energy in the body. Tibetan healing sound optimizes and channelizes the proper flow of energy into each cell and tissue, thus restoring the body’s normal vibratory frequency. It helps in healing most of the stress-related disorders, depression, anxiety, etc.

How Singing Bowls are made-  Secrets of Tibetan Singing Bowls

These mystical semi-round bowls were fabricated using an amalgam of 7 key metals (Gold, Silver, Mercury, Copper, Iron, Tin and Lead) where each metal is said to represent a heavenly body (planet). Gold and silver alloys are hardly used nowadays, due to the high cost. Firstly the metal is heated at a very high temperature until it is completely liquefied. The melted metal is then poured into a vessel where it takes the shape of a singing bowl. The ones made in the factory are refined using machines and the handmade bowls are beaten from the very beginning and hammered using traditional techniques. They are an essential aid to meditation and can be found in Buddhist altars, monasteries, and meditation centers of the world.

Chakra balancing in Tibetan Singing Bowls

We all know that chakras are the energy reservoirs of our body which channelize the flow of ‘prana’ (energy) in a particular direction. Any imbalance of these chakras can lead to illness. But are these chakras actual entities located at different physical positions of our body? The answer is no. Chakras are not made up of matter and are purely energetic. These energy centers can be open or closed, activated or inactivated, depending upon the efficiency of energy flow throughout the body.

A balanced chakra system is what keeps our body healthy. Tibetan bowl therapy can be used to heal and balance all the seven chakras of our body and restores harmony in our system.  Each singing bowl activates a specific chakra. This can be done by placing the bowls on top of their respective energy centers.  So a set of bowls are used collectively to balance all the energy chakras. Like for example, bowls with high tone are used for activating the Ajna chakra (third eye chakra), while for the Anahata chakra (heart chakra), bowls with milder tones are preferred. It’s quite difficult to find a single bowl emitting frequencies of all the seven chakras.

Singing bowl benefits

  • Tibetan bowl meditation helps reduce stress, chronic fatigue syndrome, and depression in people. Positive effects can be observed within two-three sessions.
  • This therapy helps stimulate some areas of the brain that are difficult to access by simple meditation techniques.
  • The Tibetan healing sounds induce a deep relaxation response in individuals and also produce a positive effect on one’s mood.
  • They lower blood pressure levels and reduce heart rates, thus inducing a calming effect in the body.
  • Several experiments have proved that Singing bowl therapy relieves cancer patients from pain and discomfort. Increased energy and peacefulness was also seen in some of the patients.

Fishing pontoon boats

1
fishing pontoon boats

What is a pontoon boat? It is boat which is flattish in structure and relies mostly on the pontoons for the purpose of floating. These pontoons which are also called as tubes contains a lot of reserve buoyancy which allows the designers to create massive deck plans which can be fit with all sorts of accommodation available such as sun pads, stand up bars and lounge areas which are expansive.

These boats are inflatable and their drafts may be as shallow as eight inches. When a large force is applied to side which capsizes a pontoon boat without much warning, particularly by a top-heavy boat such an effect is called as the pontoon effect. Common pontoon boat designs are of a catamaran with two hulls and a trimaran with three hulls.

Let’s see some of the exquisite and attractive features of these boats which also help us in finding out some of the best fishing pontoon boats.

Factors to look while purchasing the Best Fishing Pontoon Boat:

Better Tube Design:

The better tube design of a pontoon fishing boat allows every builder to put in increasing amounts of horsepower on the stern. The tube design also allows the boat to flow in the right manner, as it is the tube which houses the base of the pontoon fishing boat. A better tube design helps in the faster and smoother movement of the pontoon fishing boat.

Smoother movement of these boats are very much important when you are fishing in lakes such as saltwater lakes and also in water bodies which have too many hurdles in them as well as swiftly slowing water. Better tubular design helps in overcoming all these hurdles created by the water bodies in a more peculiar way. The tubular design helps in pushing the water swiftly towards the sides of the pontoon boat and makes way for a smoother gliding motion of the boat.

Better tube design also helps in maintaining the load of the person residing on the boat. It helps in transmitting the load equally to all the parts of the pontoon boat equally which also decreases the risk of sinking of the boat. This also acts as an added advantage of the safety of the boat. Because safety is an important factor in all the best fishing pontoon boats.

Lastly the better tube design helps in keeping the momentum of the boat intact. Suppose the boat is going at a high speed, and suddenly it is get hit by an obstacle or due to something the boat has to be stopped, this tubular design ensures that the sway momentum of the boat doesn’t affect any structural damage on the boat and also makes sure that the inertia phenomenon falls perfectly into place.

Shallow Draft Provision:

Pontoon boats drafts might be as shallow as eight inches as a safety factor. This provision added to the pontoon boats helps in reducing the risks of running around and underwater damage. Shallow drafts also helps by reducing the sinking factors as it maintains the boat float around the upper surface of the water body.

A best fishing pontoon is always categorized by its shallower draft design. A shallow draft design also helps in maintaining the faster movement of the fishing boat. Shallower the draft design more will be its tendency to push the water around which helps in the swift movement of the body. As aquatic animals inside the body do sometimes disturb the movement of the boat by collision, this shallower draft design helps the fishing pontoon boat to maintain its position as well its speed which decreases the sense of discomfort for the people residing on the boat.

A shallower draft also calls for a better structure of the boat. Because of this shallower draft there are chances of only minimal damages to the structure of the fishing pontoon boat. This shallower draft also helps in limiting the navigable waterways, especially in large fishing pontoon boats. The stability of a fishing pontoon boat can be easily increased b the provision of a shallower draft design.

The shallower draft design also helps in increasing the width of the boat to encroach on a large area for fishing. It is also helpful for avoiding underwater obstacles and hitting the ocean floor and also used sometimes for measuring the depth of the water body. The main purpose of the shallower draft design is to navigate the fishing pontoon boats through shallower water.

Perfect Anchor System:

fishing pontoon boat

The perfect anchor system of pontoon fishing acts just like how the brain acts for the human body. It helps in anchoring the fishing boat perfectly at your favourite direction. These anchors are used to connect the vessel, which is the fishing boat in this case to the bed of a water body. This helps in preventing the craft from the drifting due to wind or current.

These anchors are used in the creation of a mooring, which are rarely moved. A specialist service is needed to move or maintain these structures. These vessels or fishing boats carry one or more temporary anchors which may be of different weights and designs. The anchor system also help in the control of a drifting vessel, and also limits the speed of a sailing fishing boat in case of storms or fast running water bodies.

These anchor systems are sometimes attached to a tripping line which is attached to the crown, by which they can be unhooked from rocks and coral. The reason they are attached to the tripping line is because they help the fishing boat to stay in a steady position and avoids the tripping phenomenon by doing so. The presence of a perfect anchor system converts a fishing pontoon boat into a best fishing pontoon boat.

By the help of this anchor system, by knowing the precise location it will be very useful in finding out the potential dangers such as estimating the effects of weather and tide by the movement of the anchorage system. It also helps in measuring the depth of a water body. These anchoring systems achieve power either by hooking into the seabed or sheer mass or by the combination of both of them.

Inflatable Quality of Tubes:

Fishing boats which have inflatable tubes provide emergency floatation to the boat. This acts as some source of a life jacket for the whole boat which takes into consideration the safety of the passengers travelling on it. These tubes help in increasing the safety as well as stability of the fishing pontoon boat.

In addition, these tubes also increase the seaworthiness of the boat, which essentially means that there is no chance of exchanging the boat for a new one. These tubes are manufactured with an ultra thick bottom which reduces the factors such as scratching, wearing no matter how bad the environment or the water body is. One of the main factors in most of the best fishing pontoons are its ability to inflate perfectly.

These inflatable tubes also provide tolerance at extreme cold conditions of the water body making it a safer travelling option during winters and rainy seasons. They consists of valves for inflation, so whenever you feel like using the boat for fishing just blow air into the tubes and you are ready to go. When you are done with fishing, you can just remove the air out and can fold it and store it in a convenient place.

These tubes come with the highest level of integrity which proves that no material can pass through these tubes and provide discomfort to the motion of the boat. These inflatable tubes house a good quality of rubber which is durable and flexible. They are versatile, portable and take up almost no space when they are not in use. They also help in increasing the speed of fishing boat and maintaining its weight throughout its motion. They also guarantee a life span of ten to fifteen years.

Transport Wheel:

The transport wheel of a fishing boat is an accessory provided to help the fishing boat in transportation while fishing. It is just a name used, but is actually not a wheel. It is steel tubular frame which house the whole pontoon boat. This tubular frame gives a structural configuration to the whole pontoon boat which helps it while transportation.

This tubular frame is enclosed by the inflatable tubes which gives it shape of an airfoil which helps in the easier motion of the fishing boat. The structure of the fishing looks so peculiar with this tubular frame that its helps in eliminating the distortions happening while the boat is in motion, primarily the deviation of boat which happens due to strong winds or tides in the water body. This tubular frame also converts the pontoon fishing boat into one of the best pontoon fishing boats.

This transport wheel is also necessarily one of the additional safety factors which are present in the fishing pontoon boat. Because of its structure its makes sure that even when it is hit by an obstacle, a heavier structural damage would not befall on the fishing boat and the passengers riding on the fishing boat also escape without any major injuries. But small injuries which can happen by the collision by fellow passengers cannot be guaranteed for safety.

Sudden stoppage of the boat, increase or decrease in its speed, motion of the boat when the load is less similarly when the load is more is totally dependant on the transport wheel. It totally transmits the weight of the fishing boat and helps in the easier travelling as well as helping in enjoying an exquisite fishing experience.

Motor Mount:

It’s an obvious explanation that the motors have to be mounted on the fishing boats for easier and efficient travelling. The boat cannot be wired to a motor and go on distances for fishing right? That will be hilarious. A motor is always mounted or in simple words attached to the exterior side of the boat sometimes in the back-side or even below the boat convenient according to the style of fishing you love.

There is an added advantage of having an attached motor along with your on your first fishing experience. It gives you a smooth sailing experience as you don not have to totally depend upon the anchoring rods as well as the sailing rods for balance maintaining purposes. The power of the motor itself will help you in maintaining the steady balance of your fishing boat even at higher speeds.

The best fishing pontoon boats are always housed by motor mounts. A motor mount in your fishing also acts as a safer and easier way of transportation. You do not require your power to run the boat; simply a good handling of the steering will do the work for you. The motor mount also helps you know in case extra load is added on the boat, so you can accelerate or decelerate depending on the situation provided. It also provides faster travel which basically means your fishing outing can get over sooner smoother.

Because of the presence of a motor mount the acceleration will be steady and controlled. It is this exquisite feature of the motor mount which facilitates manoeuvres around rush and congested water bodies or streams while approaching a dock or a marina. By this precise control, boaters can also maintain a steady headway easily, without the need of engaging or disengaging of the gears. They also help in providing excellent power and performance every time you go out on a fishing outing.

Swaying Rod Holders:

Why are these swaying rod holders so important in a fishing boat? They help in keeping the rod out of your way and also catch some fish for you easily. These holders can help you provide a better grip and lets you troll at the right angle required. These rod holders also help you by allowing rotation of the rod and also reduce the amount of wear and tear on the fishing rod when a large fish strikes.

These rod holders also come in adjustable variants such as varying angle of rotations, tilt or lock into a particular position which also offers a good value with a lot of convenience for both small and large boats. These rod holders also help in obtaining the fixed stops which are positionable in some stops through their added features of threaded holes and pins.

These consists of an innovative and super fast locking system which helps you to switch easily from a tilting mode to the closed one by a simple press of the small lever available. These rod holders also allow in quick and easy positioning in both corners of the barrel and the rotation of the base. By this exquisite provision you can not only choose the angle of incidence with respect to the position of the boat but you can also choose the angle of the fishing rod above the water level.

These rod holders allow the fishing rods to drift easily and swiftly. They help in a very quick orientation which is categorized by minimum friction which helps in catching the fish easily and also allows no room for the escaping of the fish. These rod holders have the ability to engage quickly and then make a fixed rotation of the fishing rod in the presence of very tight corners which causes soft and smoother movements without any discomforts.

These rod holders can also be used for high sea trolling purposes because of its innovative coupling system which helps in extracting the rod from the rod holder directly instead of extracting it from the fishing pontoon boat. These can be used for trolling undersea coast regions also as it free from any constraints and is very adaptable. Because of the presence of the rod holder, the speed of the fishing rod can also be materialized properly. Because of this exquisite feature, boats which house the swaying rod holders are always categorized into one of the best fishing pontoon boats.

All you need to know about exams for studying abroad

Thousands of aspirants migrate each year to different parts of the world to finish their higher education. While the global international study scene has enormously opened itself to students from all academic backgrounds and interests, certain preset academic standards remain to be fulfilled in order to gain admission to a university or university abroad. This is achieved with the clearing of international competitive entry tests. Good performances in competitive’ study abroad ‘ examinations also help you to earn bonds and other forms of financial support.

The SAT, MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, GRE, IELTS and TOEFL are some of the most popular and important international entry tests for international trials. They are required to be admitted in universities and colleges throughout the world; sometimes one or more of these tests/exams may be necessary for combination with the education system of that country.

Let’s get to know about these tests in details

TOEFL and IELTS

The TOEFL and the IELTS are likely to top the list with regard to the sheer number of students worldwide who need to undertake one or the other to demonstrate English language skills. TOEFL scores, including the top 100 in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, are accepted as a large selection of universities and colleges. IELTS is an obligatory test of access to reputable colleges and universities in abroad and occasionally immigration requirements for Indian and other non-national English speakers, in particular in the Commonwealth countries.

GRE and GMAT

The GRE is another popular test among Indian students who aspire to study in America or Canada. The GRE is a graduate record examination. This is a fairly standardized test which measures the candidate’s verbal, mathematical and general analysis, although over the years the format has changed a lot. It is a requirement for admission to many graduate courses in the USA, especially in engineering and sciences. Management applicants must take the GMAT, a business college admission assessment. The GMAT scores average range between 570 and 580, but at least 700 are almost obligatory for top school students.

New sections such as Integrated Reasoning, which made the test more competitive than before, have recently been introduced. GRE and GMAT tests can be used in over 500 places worldwide, but you must reserve the slot in advance.

SAT

The scholastic aptitude test (SAT) is of two types, the reasoning test for checking general writing skills and grammar and the subject test for checking the knowledge of a candidate on his / her choice of subject, and required for entry on universities in the USA where an equivalent has not been completed. The College Board of the United States of America owns, develops and manages the SAT. SAT is available 7 times a year in the United States, usually on the first Saturdays of October, November, December, January, March, May and June. The same dates apply to most other countries.

MCAT and LSAT

Other competitive examinations abroad include the MCAT and the LSAT, which are compulsory in the United States for medicine and law, respectively. The MCAT is a multiple-choice test designed to evaluate the aptitude and knowledge of the examinee on relevant subjects, while the LSAT is administered by the Law School Admission Council for students who wish to pursue a career in law in the USA, Australia and Canada.

PTE

PTE test differs from its close competitors, IELTS and TOEFL. The marking pattern and the results are the first and foremost feature. The results are declared much faster in 5 days because the tests are completely computerized. It’s therefore suitable for students in a hurry. Another aspect of this test is that it focuses on English every day instead of English at the university level. Those 3 are the main tests for students who want to study abroad after graduation, to study abroad after graduation 12 or to study abroad after graduation 10.

ACT

American College Testing (ACT) is a standardized university and college entrance test in the U.S. ACT evaluates the university readiness of the students both indigenous and international. It was designed to evaluate the candidates ‘ written, mathematical, verbal and scientific skills. You can write either SAT or ACT, depending on which school you plan to apply for admissions. The students who want to study abroad after the 12th year of school can take these two tests, especially for studying abroad in the US.

MCAT

For admissions to undergraduate medical education in most medical colleges in the United States, Canada, and 18 other countries, the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is required. The MCAT is a multi-choice exam designed by the AAMC to assess problem-solving, critical thinking and writing competences. It also tests knowledge of science concepts and principles that are essential for medical study. With this list we hope that the misunderstanding of the names TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, GMAT, etc will be clarified for aspirants studying abroad. Please feel free to comment below if you think we have missed any exam on this list.

USMLE

The U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) is a three-stage medical licensing exam in the U.S. and is sponsored by the Federation of State Medical Boards and the National Medical Examiners Board (NBME). The USMLE evaluates a physician’s ability to apply knowledge, concepts and principles and show essential, health and disease patient centered skills that form the basis of safe and effective patient care. Each of the three USMLE steps complements the others; the readiness to obtain medical licenses cannot be assessed alone.

LSAT

The 2019 or LSAT 2019 Law School Admission Tests are administered by the Law School Admission Board or LSAC internationally. The LSAT is designed for prospective law students interested in international legal education in the United States, Canada, and other countries. The LSAT is conducted at various test centers worldwide on predefined dates 4 times a year. LSAT scores shall be calculated on a scale of 120-180 per section and the average or final LSAT scores shall also be calculated on a scale of 120-140. The LSAT 2018 scores shall be valid for up to 5 years after the test date.

Conclusion

Competitive entrance examinations are standardized and reliable ways to evaluate millions of applicants who aspire each year to study abroad, so take your time, get ready and prepare to go!

Cost of living in Singapore

Singapore is not just one of the world’s most sought after educational destinations, but one of the most expensive as well. In fact, expenses can be compared to countries like Australia and the USA for students studying in Singapore. Studying an MBA can cost up to USD 62,000 in tuition fees alone. The undergraduate courses are comparatively cheaper and can cost from S$29,350 to S$37,550.

Apart from tuition fees, accommodation is the second big chunk with an average annual expense of USD 5000. Needless to say, Singapore can also be heavy on your pocket when it comes to living. Including food and transportation, Singapore’s total living costs can rise to USD 22,000

However, the cost of education differs in accordance to the level of study. Here is the average cost of study for an international student:

Diplomas– 1 – 2 years: Around S$8000 – S$15000

Bachelors– 2-4 years: Around S$24,000- S$40,000

Masters– 1- 1.5 years: Cost- S$ 18,000- S$30,000

Living expenses in Singapore

Study in Singapore: top colleges, procedure and other relevant information

In terms of living standards, Singapore is one of Asia’s most expensive countries. The HSBC report puts the country’s cost of living at almost S$28,000 a year, making it the second most expensive country for international students. Living costs are, of course, entirely dependent on the student and facilities. Common Singapore spending may be:

Food: Usually, the monthly cost for meals can be around S$300 for international students in Singapore. It is better for students to go for accommodations where meals are included as eating outside everyday could put a heavy burden on their pocket.

Public expenses: Students also have personal expenses in addition to food and transportation that they have to take care of while living in a foreign country. To meet one’s personal expenses in Singapore, it is advisable to keep around S$300.

Books and stationary: While many universities provide study materials and libraries, as with any university around the world, students are still required to refer to books and stationeries beyond the campus. Keep taking care of such expenses at least $200.

Language required for study in Singapore

Singapore’s official languages are English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. There are many other languages that you can expect to hear spoken across the country.

If you choose to study in a non-native language, your language skills will likely have to be demonstrated. You may be able to take a language course to help you improve if you do not meet the required standards. Although you can study English, living in Singapore is a great opportunity to learn more than one new language. The perfect way to practice is to communicate with locals and other students.
