Buying critical illness insurance plans can be confusing. Which one do you go with, what do they cover, how long does the plan last for? These are a lot of questions you have to ask yourself before you buy the right one.

More and more people are becoming ill from life-style diseases, such as cardiovascular illnesses, open heart surgery, and paralysis, conditions that require a lot of care to keep under control. But when they get out of control, how do you find the right plan to take care of your needs?

How Do Critical Illness Plans Work?

When looking for the right health insurance, keep in mind that a critical illness plan works much different from a regular health insurance plan. A critical illness plan provides a lump sum of money to the insured when a serious ailment occurs. This sum is the equal to the insured sum within the details of the plan.

The lump sum can be used for the cost of care and treatment, any costs of recuperation, and settle any debts that remain from treatment. The terms of any plan state, what the amount is that will be paid out, regardless of the cost of hospital expenses. A health insurance plan, on the other hand, only reimburses for costs that have been incurred during hospitalisation and other related treatment.

What a Critical Illness Plan Covers?

Now that you know how it works, what does a critical illness insurance plan actually cover? Depending on the provider, what is covered by the plan can vary. The majority of insurers cover at least eight to twenty major critical illnesses; some cover even more. The most common illnesses and conditions that are covered include cancer, kidney failure, stroke, heart attack, and several heart-related treatments and surgeries, just to name a few.

The Costs of a Critical Illness Plan

Treatment for these devastating illnesses is expensive, so having a plan to cover them can also be expensive. Expect to pay about `1,500,000 for a plan that will cover majority of the costs. It would be a good idea to look at your family history as well to determine the best plan, as this will tell you what conditions you may or may not be predisposed towards.

The Downsides of CI Plans

The first caveat is that the insured party must survive at least 30 successive days after the diagnosis of the illness or condition before a claim can be made. Not to mention that there is also a 90-day waiting period at the start of the policy.

The second downside is that a CI plan will not cover the costs of hospitalisation. It might be good to have an additional health insurance policy in place to cover these costs.

Before you invest in any one critical Illness plan, it’s always best to read all of the policy details beforehand so that you know what you’re signing up for. You don’t want to be caught with surprises later down the road, leaving you financially and emotionally ruined. If you’re still unsure, you can always bring a policy to your family doctor to see if it covers what you need.

10 Easy Steps to Build Your confidence

0
Confident man building confidence

In this rat race everyone is trying to reach the top as fast as they can. We need to however, remember that we can only dictate our ascension to success by one thing: our confidence in ourselves. Henry Ford once rightly said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” It is of his opinion that your mentality reflects a lot on your outlook towards life in general. A person who always expects to lose, simply because they think they can’t, are bound to fail. They say faith in god moves mountains. On the contrary, belief in yourself and confidence in your ability is what shall give you the strength to move these mountains yourself. The mountains, being metaphorical, of course.

This world makes its money on what others see and perceive them. You must know how to sell yourself. Seeing you as a confident, self-assured person gives them the impression that you are competent and that they can trust you with responsibility. Seeing you as underconfident and unsure gives them the feeling that as you can’t be sure of yourself, you probably can’t be sure about anything else too.

After digging through lots of self-help books and articles, we have come up with ten things you could do to begin and keep on the journey of becoming one of the most confident people you know.

Loving Yourself.

You can only put in so much love and happiness out to the world while there is hate inside your heart. A small tip: To be happy about what you do, it is first vital that you’re satisfied with what you are. Derive pleasure from the work you do, and feel proud of yourself. To surmise, it is like being around a predator; they say that you should not be scared because they sense fear. In the same way, you shouldn’t show any signs of hating yourself or the work you do because people prey on that.

Loving yourself, self love.

Not saying Yes unless you want to.

It is crucial to be sure of your decisions. A person who is confident about what he wants for himself is successful. You must realize that it is your call to decide what should and should not influence you and your surroundings. In life, we all gain a great many opportunities that can change us for the better. It is our responsibility to recognize them and make the call of welcoming them into our lives. A person who is not confident about their capabilities, or is apprehensive about the risks involved, can never get anywhere.

You should listen more than you speak.

I know that I am a fool. Everyone else doesn’t need to know that too.” A confident person looks for an opportunity to learn in everything he does. Keeping quiet is the best way to so. Everyone has something to say, something that is different from others. And it is best if we listen and learn from them. Even the dumbest of the people may end up having something to teach you.

What’s more, being quiet, listening intently, and responding when you deem it worthy to makes you appear thoughtful and makes you more likable. Having the time to think of what to say and sounding sure of what you say helps you build your confidence. A person who chooses to listen rather than respond knows precisely where his next chess piece should land because after following the enemy’s talk, he knows their entire plan.

Seek out small achievements instead of solely fixating on an arbitrary goal.

Confident people are not merely visionaries; they are goal-setters. They choose to break their journey down into little parts and pursue them. Each victory achieved is a step closer to the goal which gives you hope for the next.

Pushing stone uphill.

The climb to success is entirely uphill and its hard to keep track sometimes. The best thing we can do is follow one foot in front of the other and keep walking and celebrating each milestone passed on the way.

Exercise.

We all know, exercise doesn’t just keep us fit. Exercise releases endorphins – the feel-good hormones. Exercising is a major component on the path to building your confidence. Endorphins give us moments of happiness and satisfaction. It is essential to keep our brain satisfied by giving it hits of constant goal-achieving satisfaction.

And by exercising and keeping fit, we can help speed this process along. We also note in various studies that people who work out regularly are self-confident and rate their body image as higher than others.

Don’t pass judgement.

Everybody in this world is from all walks of life. We don’t know what somebody else has been through without walking in their shoes first. And giving your opinion on their actions without doing so makes one come of as arrogant, mean and shallow. It is crucial here to understand that our confidence should stem from our respect for ourselves and the society we are a part of. It is essential not to harbor a holier than thou attitude within oneself as we are bound to project it, often without realizing it.

Don’t seek attention.

The human race survives on validation. It is the opinion of others that fuels us through the days. As a confident person, it is essential to realize that yes, psychological validation from others helps. However, it does not help if we are not validating ourselves through our own actions.

It is just making us into a person that is attention-seeking and is insecure about themselves. Remember, to be a confident person, you don’t need to make the noise for people to look at you, your success will. Leave people curious about the enigma you are and they shall follow you.

Don’t be afraid to be wrong.

Life is full of successes and failures. People who reach the top not encountering failure have more to lose than people who have climbed up there through struggle. Not knowing how to deal with a defeat and still reaching the top is like passing without studying for a preliminary test. Yes, you have aced this test and everybody thinks the world of you but when the final exam comes, will you be ready to ace that too? Or will you succumb to the pressure? Take risks, be wrong. Each risk in life is not your last stand. It is merely a stepping stone, and being wrong is all but a stumble. Each time you fail, you may lose some faith, but when you finally succeed, all the scepticism turns to building your confidence in all the right ways. You have all the time in the world to right yourself and get back on track again.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Their silent support systems aided the most successful people. Albert Einstein may have been the greatest genius to have survived, but he would forget to do essential day to day activities. Without the help of his supportive and strong-willed wife, he would never have been able to function successfully. When you have exhausted all your options, try to take a comrade’s help. Asking someone not only makes you a humbler person, it also gives you opportunities to build your confidence in approaching a person. They might not completely solve the problem, but they’ll give a different perspective on the issue. One that you may have missed.

Smile and dress well.

We would be lying if we said that the ability to be confident came only from your heart and personality. A lot of what we presume as seeing ourselves positively is what we visualize ourselves as. If we don’t invest in ourselves the way we see fit, there is no guarantee that the world will give us as we see fit. Dressing well does help build your confidence. Dress well, look the part, and then play the role. Studies have shown that wearing suits to interviews provides the wearer with confidence and posture to perform more assuredly.

Learn to smile naturally. Your smile is infectious, the mood you’re in will transfer to others. Everybody likes a happy, jovial person. Seeing others smile because of you can also make you optimistic towards life. A smile builds your confidence, makes you feel less shy and more outgoing.

We hope this list of ours helped you get a perspective on how to behave and come across as a confident person. We hope you succeed in your journey.

Resume for corporation job
Woman holding her resume for job in corporation

As you might have heard of the saying, “First impressions are the best impressions.” Everything that you present must have perfection to it to obtain the best results. Especially when you’re applying for a job or an internship you want, most often, we notice a specific recurring tone in the process of applying for a job. You create a CV, with not much prior knowledge of how to create one. Then, you send this to your employer and wait to hear back. You have your hopes up, but you never get the call. Why do you think it is so? It is because the employer didn’t bother reading your CV itself. Additionally, with the help of this list of steps, you probably won’t have to worry about not having presented your best face for employment.

Make Sure Your Employer Has Asked For A CV.

Discussing resume
Discussing resume

A Curriculum Vitae, CV for short, is a document that presents a brief description of yourself. It is the kind of material that an employer would wish to look at to make a quick decision. A CV has different meanings in different countries. In the Western States, A CV has an outlined detail of your entire academic career. Whereas in other countries, your CV is basically like a resume. Going by this narrative, in the western states, your CV would is used to apply for colleges, whereas your resume is to apply for jobs.

Make your CV As Eye-catching And Crisp As Possible.

Many a time, your employer doesn’t bother looking at your CV for more than ten seconds. They have specific requirements for the position they wish to fill, and they shall only check for such in your CV. So, to make sure that the employer sees what he wants to know, you must format it in the easiest way possible.

Woman signing documents.

You have two ways of approaching this. You could either format your CV in such a way that your employer could go through it immediately and get an idea of your experience and skills. Or, you could format it in such a way that the employer decides to take some time out to get a good look at your CV. Now, I shall explain why the second option is better. If your employer sees your skills and experience and still skims through, chances are he won’t remember you at all. Let’s face it, there are others with the same expertise, and at this point, it would just be luck by chance. But if your CV catches his eye, you will be set aside to be considered. The basic guidelines to following a proper CV format are first, a CV header and your contact information. Next, your profile, or a bit about you. After that, your work experience, your academic education and skills. You can add other additional stuff about you following that.

Follow Good Formatting Rules.

Your CV must follow a clear and neat format. You can choose an eye-catching theme, but in the end, it should be legible and easy to understand at a glance. Use one-inch margins from all four sides; make sure all the headings you use are uniform. You can use more of larger fonts and bold text but avoid italics and underlines. Do not use different date formats, stick with one.

Always include a picture of yourself and make sure it’s a professional looking one, which is not as stiff as an ID picture.

While compiling your contact information, make sure that you enter your –

  • Full name.
  • Your professional title. (If you are a doctor, your designation i.e MBBS, MD etc, and Student if you are a college-going student)
  • Your official email address.
  • Telephone number.
  • LinkedIn profile.
  • Home Address.

Your contact information must be up to date and have no errors. For example, if your LinkedIn profile does not match your CV, you’re immediately disqualified.

Have a Clear CV Summary.

While most applicants go from their contact information directly to their work experience, it would do you well to include a 100 word summary about yourself first. This paragraph should be short and crisp, a condensation of why you’d be perfect for this role. It should be formal and yet entertaining, and you need to capture your employer’s attention.

Signing cv

Make sure that the style you write your CV in is similar to the way you would speak if you had had a face to face interview with your employer. Use technical terms while speaking of your job and designation. Your writing style should not seem as if you have built your qualification solely for this job. Show your employer that you would be an excellent addition for them. They are not looking for an opportunity to make your life better; they are looking for someone to make their establishment run better.

List Only Relevant Work Experience And Highlight Your Key Achievements.

Yes, we know you have qualifications in criminal law. But the job that you are applying for is for an internship as a creative writer. So, do not take this opportunity to fill your CV with qualifications and achievements that are not relevant to the job for which you are applying. There is no need to fill your CV to the point where you look like an extraordinarily qualified or even over-qualified applicant. You can list your relevant work experience at the top and then proceed with other skills below that.

Parenting Successfully In The Times of a Pandemic.

0

These are confusing times. And as you might have heard from every public figure on the planet, unprecedented too. Nobody knows what to do, because the last time a pandemic struck was in 1920. And during that time, medicine hadn’t reached the heights it has today. So, right now, we are dealing with a pandemic the way we know best. Nothing is perfect, but everyone gets cut some slack. We slowly realize who the real pillars of our society are.

Not our billionaires or our politicians or our bankers. It is our healthcare workers, our deliverymen, people handling minor food delivery and services. While yes, these jobs are taxing and are high-risk because they are essential, there is another job that is going unrecognized. Parenting. Parenting has always been a full-time job. But with the pandemic upon us, parents don’t know how to handle their children for 24 hours a day. They don’t know how to make them understand the importance of all the precautions to be taken. Right now, we can’t cut some slack, but we could make their jobs easier for them. Here are some tips and tricks on how to parent successfully through the coronavirus pandemic.

Explain To Your Children What Exactly Is Going On.

The pandemic obviously will be a tough discussion. Having a serious conversation with your child, however, is very important. The way this pandemic has progressed, it is without a doubt that in a few years, maybe a decade, kids shall be learning about it in their history textbooks.

The way you need to break it to them, however, for obvious reasons, is different for each age group. Small kids from the ages of 3 to 6 don’t need to know about the pandemic in detail. You could use stories to simplify things. You could use the ‘germ story’: create someone like the boogeyman – a germ man, presumably. Tell your kids that he is roaming outside homes and will catch people who don’t wear masks or wash their hands for 30 seconds. On days of complete quarantine, you could tell them that he will find anyone who is outside.

For older children, you can explain the actual scene, glossing it over a little bit. Emphasize the importance of following precautions like washing hands, wearing masks, not touching your face with your hands when outside. Do not force it upon them. Teach them gently, and then show them to inculcate it in their daily routine by following them yourself.

A small disclaimer: If you are performing intensive cardiovascular activities, such as running, jogging, or lifting something for a long time, we would advise on not wearing the mask. It goes without saying for both children and adults. The masks, obstruct breathing up to a certain amount and your lungs become highly pressurized and could get severely damaged.

Involve Them In Interesting Activities.

This advice goes for all age groups—even adolescents. School’s out for a few months, and no child is going to sit and study the syllabus taught at school. Use this time to play games with them. These games could be brain teasers to jog their brain, or chores disguised as games to help you. If you have more than one child, turn your game into a competition, hopefully, without any bad blood after the game.

Teach Them The Street Smarts.

Sit with your children and teach them life sciences. If you have a garden, teach them to garden with you. Show them all the creepy-crawlies, teach them to identify them, research about them. Teach them to distinguish between the poisonous and non-poisonous ones. This pandemic has stopped school, but it can’t stop learning.

A lot of parents forget that the school while trying its best, doesn’t provide a holistic education. Sit down with your children, teach them about taxes, businesses, collateral, and the works. You could teach them about the stock market, or about your money. Teach them how student loans work. A lot of children have no clue how they work, and when the times come, companies like Navient completely rip them off. Teach them about real-world issues. Do not enforce your views on them. Provide the information you have impartially and let them make that decision for themselves.

Use This Time To Bond With Your Children.

Our lives are very hectic. You are filled with our jobs, parenting our children, their classes, and extracurricular activities. We have all been living a fast-paced life for a while now. With the pandemic, it is like everything has come to a full stop. So if you are in a position where you can count your lucky stars, take this for what it is—a break. Do your duties, work from home, and stay happy. But more important than that, take a breather. Take a break for yourself, and enjoy it when your kids do too. Make games for your kids, and play them also. Keep the phones and laptops aside for some time and give your child your complete attention.

Make a blanket fort with your kids. You could cook cookies and popcorn with them. Snuggle into the pillows underneath the blanket fort and watch Disney movies with them. It is an uncertain time, and your children are bound to be scared and confused. They can’t meet their friends despite not having to go to school. Everybody is wearing masks, and the news is showing nothing other than Coronavirus stats. Spend some time with them and set some normalcy to their lives. Take a break yourself. Make sure that both you and your children get adequate sleep.

Do Not Forget That The Pandemic Doesn’t End As Soon As The Vaccine Is Administered.

The pandemic has put a stop on almost all kinds of services. Only essential ones run now, and when the lockdown lifts, a lot of things are going to change. The economy has suffered a great hit, travel is risky now, and everyone is hard-pressed for money. Show kindness where you can, and show your kids to do the same. This pandemic is going to have long term consequences, and your children shall either see it or read it when they grow up. Teaching them to give and accept gestures of kindness prepares them to live a compassionate life later on. And your children shall only imbibe and learn from what you practice. Close your eyes, and have faith. It shall soon go away.
