Coronavirus Protection – When a Mask is a Must

face mask

There has been a constant debate and confusion around the utility of coronavirus masks during this pandemic. Researchers have concluded that they offer a great deal of protection against the novel virus. With many countries emerging from the lockdown, opting for a coronavirus face mask is the need of the hour. They act as barriers against respiratory droplets from travelling into the air and further onto other people.

A few reasons why face masks are essential for surviving COVId-19 pandemic:
  • Highly contagious nature of the virus
  • Potential transmissionfrom asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic patients
  • Undeniable evidence from Asia, where masks are routinely used

Can Face Masks Prevent Coronavirus from Spreading?

Face masks does help avoid the spread of COVID-19 to a great extent provided you wear a good quality mask. However, it is possible to be infected with Coronavirus even when you are wearing a mask if the mask is not of the best quality. Therefore, you must know how to check the quality of masks before buying them for regular use.

coronavirus face masks are designed to contain small droplets that come out of mouth and nose when you talk, cough or sneeze. If you have contracted this virus and are not showing symptoms, the mask reduces thechance of spreading the virus to others. Whereas, if you are healthy, a coronavirus face mask protects you from infectious droplets from people around you. All in all, a face mask is a good solution to curb the spread of COVID-19.

How Do you Properly Wear a Coronavirus Face Mask?

Ideally, your mask should cover your face from the bridge of your nose to your chin properly. It should also fit well on your face to make you feel comfortable without causing difficulty in breathing or talking.

When Do you Need to Wear a Coronavirus Face Mask?

As the number of COVID-19 cases are rising in India, face masks are the need of the moment. One of the best precautionary measures is to wear the mask everytime you step out or when there are more than three people around you (mostly in public places). Also, keep in mind that wearing a coronavirus face mask is half the battle won. Alongside, you also need to practise proper hygiene, which includes frequent hand-washing with alcohol-based soap and water.

WHO professionals recommend that when you are in public places where it is difficult to manage the ideal 6-feet distance from others, a coronavirus face mask must be used.

Some  of the other essential tips include:

  • Wear cloth made N95 face masks in public places, especially in areas where significant community-based transmission is possible, such as pharmacies and grocery stores.
  • It is not advisable to put face masks on children under two years old, people who have breathing problems or those who are unable to handle the mask on their own.
  • It is preferable to use a cloth face mask if N95 respirators are not available.
  • Medical professionals should maintain extreme caution while putting on a Coronavirus face mask. These masks should preferably be used alongside a face shield that covers the entire front and sides of the face extending to the chin.

How to Select the Right Mask?

The importance of wearing a mask is repeatedly being stressed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is why you must know which mask will provide you with complete protection. Homemade masks are not made of suitable material and cannot prevent the virus from spreading. Also, they are unlikely to fit the face appropriately. Hence, relying on homemade masks could increase the risk of infection.

For complete protection, you need masks with a high viral filtration efficiency. As it would be imperative to wear masks 6-12 hrs a day, make sure to select a Coronavirus face mask that has super low breathing resistance keeping the temperature and humidity conditions in mind.

Coronavirus face masks such as the Airific from reliable brands like Nirvana Being tick all the above boxes of quality checks. It is the world’s first nanotechnology-based mask and has been tested with a viral and bacterial filtration efficiency of 96% by Nelson Labs, USA. It guarantees a life of 60 days, assuming daily usage of 6-8 hours.

So, make the right mask your weapon in this fight against Coronavirus and protect yourself and your loved ones.

The hard endeavor by students to get admission into college has started, unlike every year. But most of them forget to think upon a few important clues that one must check before taking admittance in their desired college and by the time they realize it’s too late. Here are some important aspects to know the right things and save yourself or your loved ones from the trap of fake degrees.

1. Consider these facts before deciding your college

If you see an advertisement at any corner of your newspaper, do not blindly believe it. It’s been a very common custom to put an attractive commercial in the newspaper, seeing which students get fascinated. So, consider the government authorized advertisements only.

If the college demands for cash deposit instead of online payment, then it’s a sign of reassessing things as it can be a way to drain your money in the name of the college. So it is advised to pay through checks, bank drafts, and digital payment.

Try meeting the management in-person to avoid being misguided by any online duplicity. Some colleges lead a very misguided information bulletin.

Always check for colleges that have been granted recognition by the government. The government has set up Regulatory Institute which provides recognition to professional courses.

They design their fake commercials in a way that attracts students. It is always good to take the advice of any ex-student of that college for getting assured about your next step towards the college.

  • The open and distance learning program has surfaced as a paramount method for providing education to diverse sections of society. UGC also lays out a distance learning bureau for students willing to manage their family, work, or academic commitments along with their course. • Students willing to start their careers in architect and related courses should go through the following website www.coa.gov.in.
  • The Council of Architecture (COA), is a government constituted Council and is responsible to provide standards of education, recognized qualification, and regulate the practice of profession all over India.

If one finds that they are studying under the institute that does not offer the required information should try seeking the help of friends and discuss with the management to return them their money. If the college or institute fails to return the money, students can go to the consumers’ court. Also, regulatory agencies should be informed about the institute which is indulged in wasting time and money on parents and students.

Exploitations happening around

  • It had been reported that a gang in Delhi, was involved in making fraudulent copies of degree and certificate, and the cops were successful in laying their hands on. The gang was getting strong in making great business by selling around 50 thousand fake school and college degrees and had a successful set up of the fake website.
  • The gang had advertised its fraudulent business to several universities and people got jobs in government sectors as well, according to Times of India. They sold fake certificates and degrees of eminent universities for several lakhs and are reported for deploying around 40 of its members for possessing this scam in different parts of India.
  • In India, about 80-90% of students take the assistance of an agent who acts as a mediator between college and students. The agents involved in this scam receive incentives from the colleges and institutions possessing this racket and their only work is to reach out to students who are dependent on external sources for getting admission.  It is very much required to research the university yourself plus if you can extend to any ex-student would be a great help to your decision.
  • The shortlisting of colleges outside India is dependent on agents. Research well about the authenticity of university and check for the address of the university being legit.
  • According to Times of India, around 2823 teachers employed in government schools in Uttar Pradesh back in 2004-05, used fake degrees issued by a renowned university of Agra. The government has now decided to recover back salaries paid to them which is estimated to be around 900 Crores.
  • Similar cases can be witnessed in Jodhpur (Rajasthan) recently, where the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached assets amounting Rs.12.98 Crores on an educational trust involved in fake degree case, according to India Today.
  • So, all these practices are leading to a massive loss of jobs and employment of people who want to earn through illegitimate terms. While doing so, the deserving ones get deprived of opportunities, and talent gets eclipsed.
Short and important tips to save yourself from a fake college trap

When applying for a job with fake degrees and updating resume with multiple degrees and several qualifications, sometimes doesn’t require any third party to verify the mentioned backgrounds. This can very easily provide a job. It’s now that people are involving a third party for verifying the backgrounds and rechecking with universities. This extremely unethical way of getting into the job has always ruined the lives of people being fired from the company and offers being pulled in. Sometimes, companies don’t always go by the number of degrees you are holding rather, they focus on your skills which they require for their company (except for MBBS and few other services). So, if we can prove ourselves that we are capable of doing the required work irrespective of holding certain degrees, can also give us the possibility of a job.

The Online Learning Era: Boon or Bane for students

online learning

The Covid-19 pandemic and the lock down are responsible for shattering many sectors. And this has resulted in the shutdown of schools and colleges and has affected over 500 million students. But it has clearly promoted the growth of the online learning and education spaces in order to continue with learning and classes. The online education sector has seen a dramatic growth.

The orders of staying at home and maintaining social distancing has spared no one. Most companies, schools and institutions have shifted to online working, teaching and learning mode. They are now promoting the concept of online classrooms, and providing resources digitally.

Similarly the demand of online courses and learning has seen a sudden surge since lock down. And this clearly indicates a huge demand that is rising for online learning.

The Online Learning Era: Boon or Bane for students
diverse e-learners

Online learning has been possible because of the inclusion of technology in the education sector. Due to this technology, distance learning courses have also gained both validation and momentum in many countries. But everything comes with its own highs and lows.

The Online Learning Era: Boon or Bane for students
understanding online courses and e-learning

The govt. is also trying to take effective measures to curb the negatives. As they have recently announced help for students who doesn’t have internet access. This will have DIKSHA, a one-nation, one-digital platform facility for school students. Issues are still faced by the learners and teachers in order to complete the process of online courses. And these issues have been impacting the worth of the online courses in different ways.

Let us try to understand the worth of these courses by looking at some general advantages and disadvantages of online courses/ e-learning in India:

Advantages

online teaching and learning

Visual illustrations lead to less complexity:

Visuals of any concept are comparatively seen simpler than its theoretical explanation.

Preparing for the future:

E-learning and doing online courses will allow the learners as well as the teachers to prepare for the future teaching-learning methods.

Creative and effective classrooms:

Learning and assessing online can lead students and teachers to come up with some creative and effective ways.

Flexible and Convenient:

Online courses and e-learning is said to be more convenient and flexible according to the students and the teachers. As there is no fixed amount of time that they both have to work/ engage in.

Disadvantages

The Online Learning Era: Boon or Bane for students
living in a digital world

Funds restrictions:

There can be restrictions in terms of funds and investments as not all the regions/people can invest the same.

Requires stable internet connection,  self-discipline and time management skills:

Pursuing online courses or learning online will require stable internet connection, self-discipline and time management skills of your own in order to continue learning. This is also seen as an investment that one has to make.

Loss of social interaction:

Learning and teaching online will surely add up in skills but it will be at the cost of losing the chances of social interaction. Which will further lead to slower development of social skills.

Technical stoppages/ challenges:

Huddles like technical stoppages and challenges is what learners and teachers have to face and this will also restrict them from learning at times.

Lack of hands on experience:

Only second hand knowledge will be provided as there will be lack of hands on experience for learners.

To wrap it up I can say that there could be several more advantages and disadvantages of online courses and e-learning. But the key to stabilize the education is student-teacher relationship. As the idea of online education is not to replace the teacher, but to work in collaboration with teacher and learner to create a flexible and creative learning space.

Bitcoin in Venezuela

0
petro

While many have countries have either outlawed Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies or don’t want to be anywhere near them, many have accepted them with open arms. Venezuela is one prime example of it.

In the past couple of years, the South American country has developed its own cryptocurrency called Petro after concerns that its fiat currency the Venezuelan Bolivar is losing its ground. The Petro was officially introduced in 2018 by president Nicolas Maduro himself to the dismay of the Western world.

A couple of years later, Venezuela has legalized all cryptocurrencies and is enjoying all the benefits they offer. Even bitcoin casino gaming have been a popular past time in South America so the view of bitcoin is definitely changing.

In 2019, strange news shocked the world when Venezuela announced that it has such a big Bitcoin stash that it doesn’t know how to use it. This was near the end of the year and well after the Petro cryptocurrency was announced. US sanctions against President Nicolas Maduro have isolated the South American country from the global financial system and nearly destroyed the Bolivar.

Maduro and the central bank knew it was time for a change, and that the financial support they needed could only come from cryptocurrencies. In just a short time, the government created a cryptocurrency regulating body led by Carlos Vargas. Previously, the government has been seizing Bitcoin operations and collections, but from 2018 onward, it has returned them to their previous owners and dropped criminal charges.

Bitcoin mining and possession are now perfectly legal in Venezuela. From June 2020, Venezuelans are allowed to use Bitcoin to pay for goods and services at 20,000 PoS terminals around the country. There’s great belief that the struggling South American country will get out of the woods sooner rather than later, and it’s all thanks to Bitcoin.

This is exactly the reason why Venezuela is a prime example of how Bitcoin can help struggling financial systems. During the COVID-19 outbreak, it became pretty clear that the fiat money system and royalties are simply too volatile. Even with Bitcoin’s volatile price, the leading cryptocurrency in the world showed a lot of promise in these perilous times.

What Does the Future Hold?

The future for Bitcoin in Venezuela is very bright. With Bitcoin mining and possession perfectly legal, Venezuela may end up a cryptocurrency haven we’re all been waiting for.

It’s a perfect example of how cryptocurrencies can help a struggling financial system. Banks are not involved in it, so debts will be a thing of the past. With no banking fees involved and a peer-to-peer focus, it becomes clear why people like it so much and governments and banks hate it.

While there were many opponents to Maduro’s Bitcoin legalization, we can safely say that Venezuela is on the right track. The Bolivar may be failing, but Bitcoin is going strong together with the Petro. Maduro may be hated by central financial systems and the West, but he has given his people hope with the legalization of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

If other countries were to follow Venezuela’s example, we would all be enjoying the perks of Bitcoin. Such a time will hopefully come soon.

The recruitment stage always requires filtration (that is why, SELECTION exists!). Be it, a Multinational Company or even, a start-up, every organisation receives many applications at the stage of recruitment. However, one cannot deny that they CANNOT select everybody who applies with them! As a result, rejection mails or letters come into the picture.

In this paragraph, we will discuss:

Why is it important to write a good rejection mail?

rejection mail can be a task to write at times

Nobody likes informing a news related to rejection to anybody. Moreover, it becomes a huge task at times. However, it is necessary to inform the candidates by writing them a rejection mail.

Firstly, rejections are important because every organisation has a limit for the job position. Moreover, they have to filter a few from the pool of candidates formed in the recruitment process.

Secondly, every candidate who applies for any internship or job, has the right to know the status of their application. Leaving any candidate unanswered not only affects them but also the name of the organisation. Importantly, they should be given a closure about their application’s result. Also, their right to know is equivalent to an organisation’s implied duty to inform them.

Moreover, negative word-of-mouth can spread and affect the goodwill of any organisation.

In addition, there are several organisations that have many levels in the recruitment stages. Hence they should inform the candidates if they keep short-listing throughout the process.

Also read A guide to answering the most common job interview questions

Here are some tips and tricks that you can follow while writing such a mail!

Some ways to write a better rejection mail:

Appreciate the effort of the candidate.

  • The beginning of the mail indicates the manner of the message. It is not easy to inform anyone that they did not get what they worked for. Therefore, starting the mail or letter by appreciating the candidate is the best way to start.
  • Firstly, it acknowledges the time and effort taken by them for the application procedure. Secondly, it also appreciates their interest in the company and maintains a good image.
  • You should express the gratitude in a polite manner and not in a cold way. For instance, do not write “thank you” as:

Thank you for applying to this position…

You should rather be grateful and supportive. For instance, you could use the following lines:

– WE APPRECIATE THE TIME AND EFFORT YOU INVESTED IN OUR COMPANY…

– The team is grateful for the opportunity to speak to you. Thank you so much for your interest in our company…

-WE ARE THANKFUL FOR THE TIME YOU TOOK FOR THIS (POSITION) AND APPRECIATE YOUR INTEREST IN OUR COMPANY…

EXPLAIN THE REASON PROPERLY

  • Candidates can genuinely feel many negative emotions when not selected. In addition, they feel frustrated when they do not receive any explanation.
  • It is necessary to provide a satisfactory explanation to the candidates. Firstly, it gives them a complete answer to why they were not select. Secondly, it does not leave them unanswered with self-doubt.
  • Moreover, writing cold and vague messages should be avoided. For instance,

You are not selected because you are not the right fit.

We have found a better fit and you are not a good fit at this time.

  • Since, they wait for the response with hope, it is important to give them a full-fledged explanation without any vagueness. Their time, effort and emotions should be respected.
  • You need to provide them with a genuine and the real reason. It can be anything, ranging from your requirements to their qualifications.
  • This makes the candidate understand why they were not chosen and the company needs, too.
  • You may use the following lines, if they are applicable,

If you have received many applications, you may use:

We have received many applications. It was very tough to make a decision out of them. we have selected certain applications whose qualifications matched our requirements.

we are looking for certain qualifications, such as, (name the SPECIFIC qualifications) and have selected the candidates according to them.

for this particular job profile, we are looking for someone with an experience of (mention some years or a degree)

ADD SOME PERSONAL TOUCH

  • Adding a personal touch leaves a positive note for the candidates. This is the most important element but, is rarely used.
  • This should include a compliment or a mention of any of the candidate’s strength. In other words, it should be something specific about them so that they feel valued.
  • It acknowledges their effort and time when they are appreciated. On the other hand, it motivates them rather than disheartening them.
  • Instead of writing the mail entirely in a generalised form, try adding one or two personal notes. Acknowledge their best feature so that they do not undermine their worth and respect you more for appreciating them.
  • You may replace lines like:

We were really impressed with your qualifications, but…

it was a pleasure meeting you and we really liked you, but…

and replace them by:

No doubt, your impression was unique because of your great ability to (write any specific STRENGTH, like communicate) well.

your (any strength) impressed us during the interview. the entire team appreciates that.

  • Importantly, such lines impact them in a great way. It removes the “use of templates” thought in the mind of the candidate and they feel good to know their special feature.
  • Moreover, there is no harm in complementing a rejected candidate. Not only this, you can even recommend them something to pursue in a good manner. For instance, you may recommend them a short diploma course to enhance their skills, if needed.
  • Therefore, take care of noticing and writing down the strengths during interviews and mention them, whatsoever the nature of the mail is!

BE ARTICULATE, NOT COLD

  • Since, the purpose of the mail is to communicate the rejection of the application, it should be done clearly. Use of vague lines should be avoided to express the very purpose of the mail.
  • However, this does not mean the mail should be cold or impolite. Rather, it should communicate the message in a clear yet polite manner.
  • Firstly, an expression of gratitude is a must. Secondly, a personal touch, as discussed above, is one major element that adds a good touch to the mail. Finally, the mail should declare the result of the recruitment procedure, here, that is rejection.
  • There should be a full-fledged message. The mail should not sound like a robotic or an auto generated one. Rather, make it look like a specific mail.

ALWAYS leave on a good note

  • It is necessary to convey the message that the organisation will always have a door open for them. In other words, as and when, they fulfill the company’s requirement, they are happily welcomed.
  • This message should never be in a vague or cold manner.
  • In other words, avoid empty and non-promising words.
  • There is always a possibility that you may actually need a previously rejected candidate. Therefore, you should genuinely express how the doors for recruitment are always open and not permanently closed for them.
  • Do not use common and empty lines like:

Stay informed for any future job position.

We will keep your application and inform when we re-consider it.

Instead, use lines that makes them feel worthy, like:

We hope there is no problem if we contact you in the future.

WE HOPE YOU DO NOT MIND IF WE REACH OUT FOR ANY FUTURE OPPORTUNITY

  • This way, the candidate can even think of the company for any future career change. Importantly, end the mail with the best wishes for luck. Therefore, a change in the way of writing can do wonders and convey a genuine message.

  • You’ll notice that the tomatoes will become soft and a bit soggy after 10 mins. If you want you can remove the skin or let it as it is. Switch off the flame and let the tomatoes cool down completely.
  • Next, you need to grind the tomatoes into a smooth puree. Take care not to grind them when they’re hot, otherwise the mixer-grinder jar might burst open.
  • Now, heat 2-3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan. Then, add 2 Tbsp of finely chopped garlic to it. Saute the garlic for 30 secs-1 min till the raw smell of the garlic is gone. When the garlic turns slightly golden, add 1 medium-sized finely chopped onion and again saute till the onion turns slightly translucent.
  • Next, add the prepared tomato puree to it. Keeping the flame in between low-medium add 1 Tsp of red chili powder, 1 Tsp of oregano, 1 Tsp of chili flakes, and give everything a good mix. You can adjust the spiciness accordingly.
  • After about 4-5 mins, add some salt as per taste and mix well. Then, add a dash of water to it, ½ Tsp of sugar and you need to keep cooking it. You can even cover it for 5 mins and then cook it in low flame till the raw smell is gone.
  • After some time, you’ll notice that the oil has separated from the sides. Your rich and juicy red sauce is ready to go with your vegetable lasagna.

To make the White sauce

white sauce
  • Meanwhile, will make the rich, creamy, and thick white sauce. For that, heat 3 Tbsp of butter in a pan keeping the flame low and let it melt. Whisk it continuously otherwise the butter might burn.
  • Now, add 3 Tbsp of refined flour/maida to this melted butter. You need to keep whisking this so that there are no lumps formed. Roast this for around 2-3 mins at low-medium heat till the raw smell of the maida is completely gone.
  • After that, gradually add 1 cup of milk while whisking continuously. This time the flame should be low. Now, add 1 Tsp of oregano and some salt as per taste and give everything a good mix.
  • Your creamy white sauce is ready, keep it aside.

To make the Veggies

  • Now, let’s prepare the veggies for the vegetable lasagna. In a pan, heat 2 Tbsp of oil or you can also use butter to saute the veggies in place of cooking oil. To that add 2 Tbsp of finely chopped garlic and saute for a few seconds till the raw smell is gone.
  • Next, keeping the flame at medium, add ¾ cup of boiled sweet corn, 1 small-sized chopped capsicum, 1 cup of roughly chopped button mushroom, 1 small-sized chopped tomato, ¾ Tsp of oregano, 1 Tsp of chili flakes and finally some salt as per taste. Give everything a good mix.
  • You need to saute these veggies at medium-high flame till the mushrooms become a bit soft and leave the water and the veggies are cooked yet a part crunchy.
  • Switch off the flame and your crunchy veggies are ready to be blended with your vegetable lasagna.

To make the Lasagna

  • Now, as you have prepared almost all the elementary components of the vegetable lasagna, however only the assembling part is left to be done. For that, follow the following written steps accordingly.
  • Take 8 slices of white bread. Depending on the size of the baking dish in which you will bake the lasagna, you can increase or decrease the number of bread slices accordingly.
  • Next, you need to trim the sides of the bread slices and roll each of the bread slices gently with the help of a rolling pin/belan. Use only fresh good quality bread for this, as then it will be easier for you to roll them into thin slices.
  • Similarly, roll the rest of the slices, and your bread slices are now ready.

The homemade oven-setup

  • Before going to the assembling part of the vegetable lasagna, let’s move ahead to your homemade oven-setup. Take a wide heavy-bottom kadai. Add ½ cup of cooking salt to it and spread it evenly on the bottom of the kadai. You can use this salt a number of times for baking the next time. If you’re baking it in an oven, then preheat the oven at 180 for 10 mins. Now, keeping the flame at medium, you need to preheat the kadai by covering it with a lid for around 10 mins.

Spread all of them evenly, next add the grated processed and mozzarella cheese on the top.
  • Then, add some white sauce again and put the rest 4 bread slices on top of the cheese layer. Followed by some more red and white sauce with the remaining cheese as the topmost layer of the vegetable lasagna.
  • Finally, on the top put a bit of white, red sauce and some veggies to make it look more colorful and delicious.
  • Once, you’ve done preheating your Oven or Kadai as per the specified instructions, you need to bake this wholesome dish of appetizing vegetable lasagna for around 15 mins.
