How to dress for Indian wedding – this has been a contradictory and confusing question every now and then. We Indians are always enthusiastic when it comes to wedding ceremonies. There are a lot of functions being organized during the whole course- haldi, sangeet, sagaai, shaadi and vidaai. These are the prime functions of every Indian wedding. In addition to that, every caste has its own additional ceremony, which is mandatory to perform. Hence, we are here to tell you what can you wear in these functions so that you can flaunt your outfit and confidence at your best.

Indian Weddings And Their Significance

Weddings are a great way to connect to your far away relatives, friends and beloved ones. However, it is not only restricted to only get- togethers. It is more than that. Our culture portrays every married couple as The Supreme Lord- Lordess couples. For instance, they are commonly portrayed as the couples similar to Gauri- Shankar, Lakshmi- Narayan, Siya- Ram and Radha- Krishna. And these Gods and Goddesses have a prime importance in your culture and traditions. Hence, marriages are often a symbol of auspiciousness, prosperity and joyous occasions.

That’s why Indian weddings often cost more than any other wedding in the world. Also, a proper outfit according to the occasion is selected so that the culture is maintained and everyone stays happy.

How To Dress For Indian Weddings

This is a complicated question as it may seem a bit dazed to choose the right outfit according to the ceremony. But dont worry, we are here with a complete guide of what to wear and how to dress for Indian wedding. We hope that this guide might help you in selecting your outfits for the big day in future.

For Haldi Functions

Haldi means ‘turmeric powder’ in Hindi language. And this magical powder is packed with antibacterial and antibiotic properties. In this ceremony, the families and friends of bride and groom apply a thick paste of turmeric powder all over their face and the exposed parts of their bodies. Since turmeric is antiseptic and has skin clensing properties, it is done before wedding so that one doesn’t catch any sort of bacterial or other infections, while carrying a constant glow on their faces.

For bride and groom

It is very important to note that turmeric leaves stains. So, one should not use the clothes won in this function for further use.

For bride: When it comes to the bride, she can go with a yellow satin chiffon saree along with a floral blouse for a minimalistic look.

Also, you can go with a bright yellow lehenga with golden/ silver embroidery on it.

When it comes to makeup, don’t go overboard as applying haldi on your face with definitely wash everything off. Keep it minimal yet elegent. With a single stroke of eyeliner, little mascara and nude shade lipstick, you can literally rock like anything.

For jewellery selection, you have to be mindful about that. Because you don’t want to get your jewellery, right ? You can go with a modest look by wearing small earrings alongwith gold plated single chain, yellow bangles and gold plated anklets. Or else, you can wear the artificial floral jewellery set, that is specially designed for haldi functions.

For groom: A groom can go with an all- yellow kurta- pyjama with little floral print/ polka dots. However, you can create a contrast by wearing a yellow kurta along with a white pyjama. Also, you can add an embroidered green floral Nehru jacket to add a classy touch to your whole outfit.

For guests

Male guests: You can go with a simple yellow kurta and pair it with a plenty of bottomwears. For instance, blue jeans, white pyjama/ dhoti, yellow pyjama will work. Also, you can create a different look by wearing a mint green kurta alongwith white pyjama.

Female guests: Dear ladies, when it comes to outfits, you need not worry about because we have a plenty of options for you. If you want to create a traditional with a mix of modernism, then go with a yellow lehenga and pair it with a funky blouse or a long kurti.

Not only this, but you can also go with a yellow kurti alongwith a yellow/ green/ white/ red sharara.

Also, you can wear a yellow maxi gown to creat a beautiful long look.

When it comes with accessories, go with a pair of dazzling heavy chandbaliyan and yellow bangles/ bracelets or a studded ring.

For Mehendi and Sangeet Evening

When it comes to sangeet and mehendi functions, all the ladies have to be mindful of what they are wearing in their hands. This is because mehendi also leaves permanent/ long lasting stains not only on jewellery, but also on clothes.

For bride and groom

For bride: You can go with a dazzling lehenga and comfortable heels/ flats. While choosing a lehenga for yourself, forget about minimalism. You are the star performer and queen of the evening, so dress according to that. Opt for a bright coloured and eye catchy colour for your lehenga. For instance, you can go with lilac lehenga with silver embroidery. Or with dark green/ royal blue lehenga can work in your favour.

For accessories, go with a pair of heavy jhumkas or dazzling chandbaliyan (because they are show stealers!). Moreover, you can also go with a set of choker and matching earrings as per your interest. Wear a pair of heavy golden/ silver anklets according to your preference.

When it comes to hands, if you are applying mehendi right during the function, then its better to not wear anything as it may mess up with mehendi.

If you are having a separate mehendi function, then definitely go with a pair of matching bangles. Also, you go with a beautiful, heavy studded bracelet and a heavy ring in the other hand.

For groom: Go with a velvet kurti and pair it with a matching pyjama for an intrinsic pattern. Also, if you want to match with your beautriful bride, then what would be more amazing than that ? Pair you overall outfit with a branded watch, gold rings and a great pair of shoes.

For guests

For males: Go with a nice pair of kurta- pyjama and jooti. Also, you can pair your amazing kurta with a dhoti to make it look more chic.

For females: When it comes to someone’s mehendi/ sangeet function, make sure to wear a chicy dazzling outfit to the party. You can go with a gorgeous lehenga of a royal color.

If you don’t seem interested in the idea of something heavy, then you can opt for a beautiful evening gown. The fascinating thing about evening gowns is that it fits perfectly in every situation. Pair them with a set of matching stunning heels so that you groove equally with the music!

For Engagement

Engagement or the ring ceremony or the ring exchange is one of the crucial parts of any wedding function. Both bride and groom make each other wear rings in the ring finger of the right hand.

For bride and groom

For bride: Since an engagement ceremony is said to be one step lower to wedding, hence it is treated equal to the actual one. Here, some families feel like following their family traditions and wanting their daughter to wear that. So, there are infinite options for this second big day of yours.

Go with a traditional silk saree (if you are a south indian) along with heavy vintage ornaments.

If you want to do something else, then jump into a beautiful lehenga. Make sure that the color is bright so that it is eye catchy and photogenic.

Also, you can go for a beautiful off white/ baby pink/ mint green or related colors with beautiful sets of jewelry to draw everybody’s attention towards you.

For groom: The groom should wear a three- piece suit for his engagement ceremony. Don’t go with black, as it is considered a sign of bad omen. Choose rich colours that will add value to your overall outfit and personality. For instance, a royal/ denim blue suit will be a perfect match for trhe engagement ceremony. Pair it with right tie, pocket square and a pair of cufflinks, alongwith a brooch to bring out a chic appearence.

For guests

For males: Like the groom, it would be amazing if you go in a three piece suit. Here, you can choose colours such as denim blue or shining black to upgrade your look. Match them with good quality of tie, cufflinks and pocket square to be perfect for the ceremony.

For females: Here, similar to the bride, you can also try different options. Go with an evening gown or you can go with a solid bodycon dress. Match it with your favorite jewelry and you are good to go.

Also, you can go for a lehenga and match it with heels and appropriate jewels.

Also, you can throw on a satin maxi skirt along with a crop top. Pair it with pencil heels and gorgeous earrings or studs.

For Wedding Night

One of the most important days or one of the big days in the life of a person is their wedding day. Everyone has a lot of hopes and expectations when it comes to their wedding. And it is important to dress up your best for this day to make it memorable for the entire life.

For bride and groom

For the bride: The biggest is here ! And if you are a bride, then the overwhelming nature during this time is completely normal. Here are plenty of options for you.

You can go for a red lehenga- style saree, matching with amazing choker jewelry. Also, you wear rani haar with dazzling stones if you love getting dressed in a traditional, Rajputana bridal attire. Wear thick and eye catchy anklets, with those little jhumkas so that whenever you walk, it creates the beautiful cham- cham tune.

Also, you can go for a lehenga attire with a double dupatta pattern, which is trending nowadays. For this, go for a lighter shade of lehenga (such as cream color) and then layer it with a darker shade of dupatta (such as green, red, maroon, violet, purple or pink). This would create a beautiful contrast within your outfit.

However, you can go for a monochrome style if you want to. An all- green, all- pink, all- red kind of outfits are classy and trending nowadays.

For groom: A groom look for his wedding is incomplete with a pair of white/ yellow dhoti- kurta. Pair them with a colourful/ green/ red/ orange/ pink dupatta to create a fascinating look. Also, you can go with readymade dhoti kuta sets with a readily available in the markets.

Pair them with long, heavy pearl neckpieces or mala and amritsari jooti to create a royal look.

For the guests

For males: Hello men out there! The amazing thing about someone’s wedding function is that you have a variety of options when it comes to outfits. You can either opt for a traditional look or can go with a modern, chic look. If going traditional, then have your best kurta- pyjama set and jooti.

However, if you are going for a modern look, then go with a three- piece suit with matching cufflinks, pocket square, brooch and tie. Wear your best shoes, matching your entire outfit, and you are good to go!

For females: For someone’s wedding, try to look the best you can. For instance, go with a stunning evening gown. You can also opt for a lehenga by pairing it with matching ornaments.

If you want to take it to the next level, try a saree. It is traditional yet elegant at the same time. Go for a soft satin saree and pair it with a golden/ silver designer blouse.

The Bottom Line

These are some of the suggestions on how to dress for Indian wedding. However, you can add or subtract some of those opinions based on your personal style, taste and knowledge of outfits. We hope that these suggestions might help you in planning for your big day.

The 4 Best Ways That You Can Take Care Of An Elderly Relative

0
Attention and care for the elderly by young relatives
Attention and care for the elderly by young relatives

Becoming a caregiver for an elderly relative or loved one brings with it a lot of challenges. It isn’t easy to juggle all of the other responsibilities that you have in life like a family of your own, a job, and others. Adding the care of a senior citizen with mobility problems and other issues is very stressful. It is a duty that must be done regardless of the challenges, however.

Luckily, there are many ways that you can get a little bit of extra help by embracing many ideas and even products. There are a lot of things available that will help senior citizens live more independently as well as give their caregivers some help to make things a bit more manageable. In this article, we will go over several of the ways that you can help take care of your elderly relative.

1 – Get an adjustable bed

Having an adjustable bed is going to provide an enormous benefit both for you and for your loved one. These beds have a lot of benefits and can be used by a large number of people. They aren’t just for hospital use but do serve a medical function as well as being designed for comfort.

The best adjustable bed frames will make it far easier for your loved one to get out of bed on their own or even if they need help from you. Since the head of the bed can be raised, they are able to come to a seated position. Then they simply need to slide their legs off of the bed and be able to stand with far less effort. If you need to help them to their feet then you won’t need to lift them when they have an adjustable bed.

They also help alleviate swelling of the feet by keeping them elevated at night. This will allow them to have fewer mobility issues since walking is easier with reduced swelling. The same goes for back pain which is debilitating since the bed can be customized to alleviate back pain.

2 – Make modifications

There will likely need to be some modifications to the house to be able to help you to help them. How these modifications need to happen will be determined by the state of your loved one. For instance, if your loved one is in a wheelchair then the carpets will need to be removed since the wheels won’t be able to roll over them. This makes pushing them harder and almost impossible for them to get around on their own.

The furniture will likely also need to undergo some upgrades. A recliner that lifts up will allow them to get out of the chair unassisted since it lifts them up to an almost standing position.

A stairlift is essential if there are multiple floors. You would not be able to lift them without the risk of injuring yourself or them. This will give them access on their own or with your help so they can use the full house. These lifts will often be the biggest reason that a person is able to continue living in their own home and not need to go to a facility.

3 – Update the bathroom

Helping your loved one maintain their hygiene is going to prove to be a big challenge. Washing up can be very risky when they try it on their own since there is water everywhere and they are less steady on their feet. Get a tub that will allow them to walk right in without the need to step over the sides. There should also be a seat located there so they can sit and wash.

A shower head with a hose will allow you to give them a proper wash and do it quickly and effectively.

A toilet with a riser will also help them to go to the bathroom and get up without as much strength needed. If they are able to go themselves without your help then getting a bidet or smart toilet is a good idea so they can use water to wash off without needing to use toilet paper to reach around. They can even feature lights so they can see what they are doing and warm air dryers to be able to be totally hands-free.

4 – Create a system

Getting organized is essential to be able to take care of all of your responsibilities in addition to the care that your loved one needs. This means that you’ll need to create a system, especially if you need to coordinate with others to be able to manage.

The first thing to do is make a schedule that revolves around the timing of their meals, doctor visits, and when they need to take medication. There are many apps that will help you do this easily as well as provide alerts and reminders so you don’t have to keep everything in mind.

Then try to make a list of all the ways that you need to help them like doing their shopping, cleaning the house, and helping them with their hygiene. You can try to delegate some of the tasks when you know exactly what needs to be done. There should even be ways to delegate the things you need to be done in your personal life so that you have the time required to be able to provide the necessary care.

There are many things that can be automated that will help you take better care of your loved one. For instance, you can have all of their bills automatically withdrawn from their accounts as well as direct deposits of their income.

Conclusion

The key thing to remember when you are the primary caregiver of an elderly person is to also make sure that you also provide care for yourself. Don’t forget to take some time to yourself so you don’t end up burning out.

Companionship

‘This has to be the summerest summer of all summers.’ I read somewhere on social media and I couldn’t agree more. The curse of walking in 43 degrees Celsius at 6 in the evening can’t be put into words for sure. And to no one’s surprise, the reason is very obvious, climate change. The world economic forum has defined climate change as one of the major problems on the planet. There is a lot of data that can show how devastating are the effects of climate change and what more trouble it can cause if things move forward similarly but let’s not get there. I don’t want to scare you with too much data and no solution.

How To Dress Plainly Without Looking Dull

Fashion can get crazy and quite overwhelming when you look at high fashion runway shows, but there’s another trend that has been around for ages. Minimalistic looks have always been around and in fashion. You don’t need to have the most prominent hat or a dress made from meat to be considered fashionable, and minimalism in fashion doesn’t have to be boring either.

Have a look at your favorite celebrity’s lookbook over the years. You most likely will find them in a plain dress or pants at some or another event where their co-stars or fellow artists wore more extravagant outfits. Yet they look great, right? There is a reason every woman should have a little black dress or man a white button-up shirt. Simple is stunning, and there’s no reason it can’t work for you either.

Risky prints or bold color combinations come with great rewards or massive failures; there’s rarely an in-between for these garments. On the other hand, plain and essential items come with either a great reward or attract little attention, but hardly ever does it receive negative feedback.

Basic Isn’t Boring

Having a plain look doesn’t mean you are plain or boring; it can be a blank canvas for you to show off other aspects of your look. You might have some great makeup that needs to shine, so if you pair it with a simplistic look, all eyes are on your makeup.

Accessories also pop when your clothing choices are more simplistic; having beautiful jewelry or cool sunglasses will take center stage when paired with more dull clothes and take your look from boring to brilliant.

Basic outfits also give people the impression of maturity. You don’t need to express yourself in overwhelming clothes; you let your skills do that. This differs from industry to industry but overall, having a simplistic look works in most cases to show your confidence lies in your work or skill, not in your outer appearance.

Minimalistic looks help you blend into crowds or corporate settings where blending in might be beneficial. When you are at a stressful meeting with a stressed-out boss or manager, the last thing you want is your bright blue top to catch their attention, potentially making you the unintended recipient of their anger. Crowds might also not be the place to draw attention.

Keeping It Simple

Fashion has never followed the rules or logic, we see trends that seem so far-fetched, yet in a few years, what was considered crazy now, all seems normal. Recently, comfort has been a big inspiration for designers. More and more garments are designed for long-term wear and comfort and less for a once-off show-stopping outfit. We see fewer killer heels and more dress sneakers.

Garment designs are becoming simpler, but they have small pieces of the designer’s personality incorporated – and that’s exactly how you can take your closet staples from simple to simply unique.

Everyone might have a white button-up shirt or a plain black tee – but what will set you apart is the small twist you add to the outfit. Express your style and personality with your hair, makeup, or accessories. Now is the time to wear your grandmother’s brooch or browse prescription sunglasses online for some new sunnies that won’t ruin your eyes or outfit. Try to add a belt or an over-the-top hair bow.

Layering garments is a great way to reuse more pieces in your closet; try layering an oversized t-shirt over a basic tank top. A print button shirt over a comfy white t-shirt adds some funky socks and sneakers to your plain black dress and a chunky knitted jersey.

Simple is Stunning

You don’t need to spend thousands on garments at the end of the day – take what you have, even your most basic pieces, and turn them into your little art projects. Quickly transform your plain garments with accessories like belts, bows, or brooches and try your hand at a new makeup look or grab a quirky bag gathering dust in the back of your closet.

Whatever you do, give your basic items a second, third, and even a fourth chance to shine in an outfit that does not need to be boring. You’ll save some money on garments, and you will have a great reason to experiment with extravagant accessories or layers of clothing. Go on and try it – you might just have more clothing combinations at your disposal than you might think.

5 Easy Ways to Be More Confident At Work

0

Confident businessmen

Confidence is a funny trait – if you don’t have it, people walk all over you. Confidence is the difference between standing back and going unnoticed and finally getting the praise we all know you deserve.

Standing up for yourself is not confidence. Confidence is never really having to stand up for yourself at all. Confidence allows you to walk into a room and know that all eyes are deservedly on you – and who doesn’t love that?

If you’re looking for tips and tricks for being more confident at work – you have come to the right place. Below are five unbelievably simple ways to rock your confidence in the workplace:

1. Ask Questions

Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it impressed the heck out of management first. Knowing when to ask questions, and which questions to ask, is imperative. If something isn’t clear or you think you know a better way of completing a task, speak up!

Management is trained to take notice when employees stand out from the crowd. You can do this by asking the right questions, at the right time.

2. Know Your Worth

Confidence comes when you know you add value to your role. Most people are employed to do a job purely based on qualifications and experience alone, but the value is added when you combine both of those aspects and take it to the next level.

Value is not always a quantifiable metric; it just means that you are simply better than anyone else for the job in question. Perhaps you are faster or more effective at completing tasks, or your natural way of thinking is just different – but in a good way.

Once you know what extras you bring to the table, your confidence will increase tenfold.

3. Ask For Feedback

Feedback makes all the difference in the world. You may think that you’re nailing your job when, in fact, you’re making a mess of it. The only way to know the discernible difference is to ask for regular feedback.

Make a point of getting feedback from your boss at least once a month, that way you can avoid unnecessary confrontation or termination. If you feel like you are being targeted by management or colleagues, consult HMK lawyers for advice and guidance on coping with the situation.

4. Dress Well

Dress to impress. That pearl of wisdom is brought to you by grandmothers across the world. Remember to dress for the job you have and for the job you want. Looking the part will give you an instant confidence boost, and that will go a long way to improving your overall self-worth.

5. Learn More

Stay updated when it comes to tips and tricks in your industry. Sign up for webinars or take short courses if you have to, do whatever you need to do to stay relevant.

By learning more about your job, and its technological advances, you can feel more confident the next time you are asked to share your opinion on a particular topic.

  • Have a job search plan that outlines how you’ll look for the type of job you want, where you want to work, and the type of company you want to work for.
  • When putting together your job search strategy, do some research, such as learning about organisations that interest you.
  • Do put together a job skills portfolio, also known as a work portfolio, that highlights all you have to offer a potential employer by focusing on work you’ve done for previous companies.
  • In your current employment market, make a list of your most important accomplishments and talents.
  • Consider all job-hunting resources available on the Internet, such as general job search sites, industry-specific job sites, geographic-specific job sites, official corporate sites, social media, forums, and so on.
  • Do research the latest and excellent jobs in your industry, especially if this is your first job search in a long time. You can also follow the blogs of job search coaches about how to job hunt.
  • Make sure to grow your brand. Blog about your profession or participate in work-related Facebook groups. Doing so will guide you in defining your value to current and prospective employers.
  • Do use transferable skills to make your work experience more relevant. Especially if you are recent college grads or changing careers, make yourself relevant.
  • Learn about the most up-to-date job search tactics in your field, particularly if this is your first job search in a long time, by following job search coaches who blog about how to job hunt.
  • Grow your brand by writing about your job on a blog or joining work-related forums or Facebook groups. This will assist current and potential employers to define you and your value.
  • Make use of transferrable talents to make your work experience more relevant – this is especially important for recent college graduates and career changers.
  • Make at least one version of a captivating elevator presentation for job hunting, job fairs, and any other networking opportunities, such as parties or local conferences.
  • Before you go, get your favourite managers’ permission and contact information so you may compile a reference document to hand over to recruiters when they ask.
  • Build professional-looking resumes and cover letters that quantify your accomplishments with action verbs and numbers. Consider using a free resume maker if you don’t have strong application materials.
  • Make each employer’s cover letter unique by integrating their job needs with your talents and expertise. Cover letter examples and cover letter templates can help you get started.
  • Do personalise your CV for each job by stressing the skills you believe will best impress them.
  • Make sure you can be reached by possible employers. On your resumes, business cards, and email signatures, include your mobile phone number and email address. Also, be certain that your voicemail (or email address) sounds professional.
  • Be persistent in following up on all job leads. Recruiters are humans just like you, with plans that can change at any time. Openings close and reopen on occasion.
  • Prepare for your job interviews by practising. Also, remember to ask questions during the interview.
  • Send thank-you letters to everyone who has interviewed you. Handwritten messages should be mailed or delivered for maximum impact.
  • Make the most of your friends, family, and coworkers by networking, networking, networking.
  • Make an effort to receive many job offers from different companies so that you can choose the greatest fit for you.
  • If you’ve been job seeking for several months and haven’t found anything, take some time to analyse and reflect on your strategy.
  • Emphasize your strengths. Yes, interviewers already know you’re driven and enjoy working with others. Stop wasting space on your cover letter and time during interviews by highlighting vague personal characteristics.
  • Show employers examples of how you’ve demonstrated you have what it takes to flourish in their open position rather than merely stating what makes you better than the other candidates.
  • Before an interview, make connections. Every time you notice a position you’re interested in, do some research on the firm to learn about its beliefs, benefits, culture, and who you should connect with. Making these connections could give you the edge you need to rise to the top of the interview stack.
  • Connect with experts via social media after you’ve done your homework on the company. To promote yourself as a thought leader, leave comments on their posts or contribute content to demonstrate that you have comparable areas of interest. Make sure all of your interactions are relevant and positive, regardless of how you connect.

The Don’t (s) choosing a job

Looking for a job.
Looking for a job.
  • Don’t expect to get a new job fast; even if you know how to job seek like an expert, getting the results you desire requires time and patience.
  • Don’t rely on a single way of job hunting, such as spending eight hours a day on the internet browsing job boards.
  • If you’ve been fired, laid off, or downsized, don’t feel disheartened. Job hunting is a long process and you learn something new with every opportunity.
  • Don’t quit your current work until you’ve found a new one, and when you do, give adequate notice. When resigning, do so with grace and respect.
  • Sending out resumes that haven’t been proofread by someone else is a bad idea. At the very least, read them out loud to yourself, which is an easy method to catch errors.
  • Don’t just rely on passive job-search strategies like publishing your CV online and waiting for recruiters to contact you, or changing your social accounts to state “open for full-time employment” without doing much social networking.
  • Even if your interviews went well, don’t wait for a job offer from a company. It can take up to two months for certain companies to make a hiring decision! Continue to move forward.
  • It’s important to set goals, but you should approach them realistically during your job search. We’ve all been enticed by high wages and prestigious job titles, but applying for jobs that are well outside of your skillset reduces your chances of getting hired.
  • Look for chances within a company that not only has an opening that your talent can fill, but also offers their employees opportunities for advancement. While you may not begin as the CEO, you will have an excellent foundation from which to build your way up.

The best way to find the job you desire is to change all the time. Trends in your business, as well as your commitment to follow up throughout the process, how you identify and impress employers. You’ll be alright if you remember these dos and don’ts.
