Is the Time Right for You to Turn Your Hobby into a Business?

0
fashion

When you’re not working your 40-hour a week job, you retreat to your spare bedroom, your garage, or your backyard shed. There you indulge in pursuing a hobby that probably has nothing to do with how you’re earning your living. Then comes that day when you realize that maybe instead of spending your energy working for someone else, you should put it towards working for yourself.

First Things to Consider

Before simply quitting your day job and working in your hobby, consider whether your skill level is up to making it a full-time job. Your business has a better chance of succeeding if it revolves around a special skill you can bring to the market.

Be ready to accept criticism of your work. There’s always a nay-sayer in the bunch. Along with this, ask yourself if you’re ready to do your hobby every day, with all of the deadlines and expectations of a full-time job. If you took up the hobby for relaxation, it might not be so relaxing to be trying to run it as a business.

Develop a Business Plan

As with any business, you’ll have to spend time on the not-so-fun stuff: working out a business plan, setting sales goals, and setting aside enough money to see you through the first few years before the profits can start to roll in. You’ll also want to consider whether or not to hire employees.

Let’s say, for instance, you decide to start your own clothing line since you enjoy making clothes and you always get compliments on the outfits you create. You’re going to have to figure things out like how much will you need to spend on materials, what type of clothes you want to make, and how much you need to sell your pieces for to make a profit.

Every detail of your business will need to be included in your business plan… even down to the clothing label vendor you choose. Nonetheless, you want quality at a reasonable price, and that’s why you may choose to go with Wunderlabel for your clothing tags.

Another thing to take into account is whether working out of your home will be feasible once you’re working 40 or more hours a week. Do you want employees coming to your home to work? Are you ready to take on renting or owning a business location in addition to your home expenses? These are a couple of the realities of running a business.

Get to Know Someone Already in Your Field of Interest

Consider taking some time to meet with a financial advisor or accountant about potential expenses you may not have thought about. Even better, meet with someone already working in the field. Learn if there’s even a demand for your product. Your friends and neighbors might promise to buy from you, but many won’t come through when the time comes.

The number of newly established businesses grew this past year while people were isolated and out of work. They saw turning their pastimes and hobbies into work as a means to bring in income.

When Can a Hobby Become Your Work?

Keep in mind that in the majority of these cases, the people who succeed at turning a hobby into a business were usually already working their hobby as a second job before making the switch. Doing this lets you develop the contacts and publicity you’ll need to succeed when you start to work your hobby full time.

Just because you have a quality product doesn’t mean you’ll succeed immediately. The reality is that the majority of new businesses fold within the first two years. This usually happens because not enough money is set aside to cover living expenses and potential emergencies to allow for the time it can take to start seeing a profit.

Average Lifespan of a Business

If they make it past the two-year barrier, most businesses still shut down after five years. Many people are simply not ready for the responsibilities of running their own business. It might be that you’re more suited to being a loyal employee for someone else as opposed to being an entrepreneur. Owning and running a business is not for everyone.

You Have to Be Accessible Online

Another consideration for modern businesses is developing your online presence. Today people expect a business to have a website with options to see a map and get directions to a physical location if you have one. They expect to see a blog with current posts and a place to read any reviews you’ve received.

Turning your hobby into a business can be rewarding. It can be a way to break out of the routine 9 to 5 office environment into one where you are your own boss and set your own hours. But it is a responsibility and not a decision you want to take lightly. Take some time out of your day to sit down and really think through what all is entailed in running a business. In the end, it could be that making your hobby your job is the right option for you.

Strange Mental Disorders That You Won’t Believe Exists!

0

Mental health is often overlooked as compared to physical health. In India, while so many people suffer from different mental illnesses, very few dare to visit a specialist and get proper treatment. But as the times are advancing, people are finally realizing the importance of good mental health and making themselves aware of different diseases, their signs and symptoms.

Did you know some mental disorders can even cause blindness and hallucinations? If you love learning about bizarre disorders, then you have hit the jackpot.

Here Are Strange Mental Disorders That You Won’t Believe Exists!

Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm syndrome is not a mental disorder but more like a coping strategy. It can happen to normal people who face trauma, but it is mostly associated with people who are kidnapped or kept hostage.

People who suffer from this syndrome often develop positive emotions towards their abductor or abuser. These emotions can develop over a few weeks to years. Instead of feeling afraid and terrorized, they often feel the goal of their abuser or abductor is the same as theirs. There is no explanation why some people feel this way, but it is believed to be a coping mechanism. This syndrome can also be seen in people who are in abusive relationships and in children who have experienced abuse.

If someone is suffering from this, they can get help through counselling and by developing healthy coping mechanisms.

Alice In Wonderland Syndrome

If you have read the book or watched the movie of the same name, you would be surprised to know that some people experience the same things in real life. Also known as Todd’s syndrome, Alice in wonderland syndrome makes one perceive things differently. The syndrome can affect people of any age but mostly seen in adolescents and children. People who have this syndrome experience distorted body image that is, they see their body parts changing their size. They can also see the environment around them change as well. The objects can appear too close or too far, smaller or larger than they usually are. People who suffer from this have altered sense of touch, sight, time, hearing and sensation.

Erotomania

The person suffering may constantly check up on the news related to the celebrity, call the other person, send them gifts and even make scenarios when the other person is cheating on them. The other person may have no idea about the person suffering from this disorder, but that doesn’t matter to the person suffering. Even confrontation wouldn’t help the person suffering, since they are stuck to their belief.

Folie à Deux

The madness shared by two or shared psychotic disorders is shared by people out of which one is psychotic. The other person who has strong emotional ties with them starts believing in this altered reality. It usually happens to people who live with a person who has schizophrenia or have deep emotional ties with them. This can occur in large groups for example in a cult if the leader is psychotic. These individuals often find it hard to cope with reality and have shared delusions. They might not even know that they suffer from this disease, as they live in an altered reality.

Cotard’s Syndrome

Cotard’s syndrome also known as cotard’s delusions or walking corpse syndrome has symptoms just like its name. The person suffering from this believes they are dead, do not exist, or are dying. They refuse to take care of themselves or eat, as dead people do not need food. They may become less social and could hear dead voices. One woman who suffered from this often told others to take her to the morgue! Although this syndrome is rare, it is mostly seen in late adulthood. It has been seen to occur in people with a history of some mental illness like schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression.

Capgras Syndrome

Capgras Syndrome or Capgras Delusions is also called imposter syndrome. The term imposter is used because the person having this syndrome thinks that another person or a thing or home is an imposter and not their real selves. This can be extremely distressing for the person having the syndrome and the person termed as an imposter. The syndrome mostly affects women and children. These people often have dementia or Alzheimer’s disease or schizophrenia, which may cause this syndrome. Although no treatment is available, symptoms and the cause can be treated to provide some relief to the patient.

Ekbom Syndrome

This syndrome makes the patient feel like he/she is infested with creepy crawlies!  They believe the infestation from parasites is real and they visit physicians only to find out that there’s nothing wrong. A woman who had this disorder, even changed her home to get rid of her infestation and even after repeatedly being told by the doctors that she is physically well, refused to go to the psychiatrist. Imagine feeling like bugs are crawling under your skin, only to find out they are not real!

Foreign Accent Syndrome

Imagine having an accent your entire life, only to watch it change after a head injury! Well, that’s what foreign Accent Syndrome does. After having an injury in the brain or stroke, the person wakes up to a changed accent. The accent may change from Japanese to Korean, Spanish to Hungarian or from American English to British English, and even British English to French. The syndrome can be diagnosed by speech-language pathologists, neurologists and psychologists. It can be treated with the help of speech therapy and counselling.

Although no sure cause has been identified, it may be due to substance abuse, coping mechanism for stress or to experience any sensation. The person who is suffering needs to be treated both physically and psychologically.

Dissociative Identity Disorder

The person suffering from this doesn’t realize what is wrong, and these personalities can cycle from months to years. 12 Creepy Cursed Objects From Around The World You Won’t Believe Exist!

0

Do you believe in ghosts? Do you believe that objects can bring bad luck and death? If you don’t, you might feel like changing your mind after reading about these creepy cursed objects possessed by spirits that made their owners’ lives miserable. Not only did they bring misfortune to the ones who owned them, but also to the ones who made fun of them, came across them by chance or even touched them.

Here are 12 creepy cursed objects from around the world, you won’t believe exist!

Busby Stoop Chair

Out there in a museum in Thirsk, is a chair hanging from the ceiling, you may ask why? Well, the legends say that whoever sits on that chair will die!

The story goes that Thomas Busby, the owner of the chair, murdered his father in law over it. Sounds weird right? According to the legend when his crimes were revealed, he was punished to be gibbeted. As his one last wish, he wished to sit in his beloved chair and have a drink. After he did this, he cursed the chair and said that whoever will sit on his chair will die shortly. After this 60 people who sat on the chair died from different things. Even the museum has hung it up so that no one sits on it by mistake.

Whether the curse is true or not is debatable, but better to stand than risk your own life.

Love Letters Replica

A girl holding flowers, is one of the most haunted paintings around the world, sounds strange right? Well, the story goes that a young 4-year-old girl, Samantha Houston tripped at the stairs of a hotel while chasing a ball. The painting was hung up on the fifth floor as a tribute to her, although the girl in the painting is not Samantha herself.

After this people started experiencing dizziness and sadness near the painting. Some people felt like they were lifted off from the ground, others claimed that the girl changed her expressions and tried to communicate with them. Whatever the reason be, if a painting blinks at me, I’m not going back to that place ever again!

Robert The Doll

Robert, the doll who has brought misfortunes to so many people, resides in Fort East Martello Museum in Florida. The doll is quite popular, has been on tv shows and has its horror movie. He even has a huge fan base where people send him candies and letters. Well, the letters are apology letters, from those who disrespected him in the museum. People working in the museum have heard demonic giggling and seen his expressions change.

The doll belonged to a boy named Eugene, gifted by a servant. The servant was mistreated and cursed the doll. Eugene, after receiving the doll, found it on his bed one night staring at him. The young boy started crying while his parents who came to rescue him found the room locked and the furniture moved. After this, the parents often heard Eugene talking with the doll and could hear two different voices. As the boy grew up, the doll was locked in the attic, but often found its way to the window sitting in a chair, looking at kids from the neighbourhood.

After the death of the original owners, the doll was found by a girl in the attic, who later claimed that the doll wanted to kill her. To date, Robert has been notorious and terrorizing people who visit him in museums and do not let them picture him. You may try if you dare!

Anna Baker’s Wedding Dress

Wanna hear a tragic love story? This beautiful wedding dress is supposedly haunted because the owner, Anna Baker couldn’t marry the love of her life. Anna Baker, a daughter of a true patriarch, fell in love with a man who worked for her father. The couple was doomed from the start, as her father opposed their love and didn’t let her marry him. After her father died, she went out to seek her love, only to find him settled. The trauma led her to go insane, she was often found dancing in the mansion, wearing her wedding dress to a tune playing in the music box. Not only the dress is haunted but also the music box and a lot of furniture in the mansion, which moves by itself. The mansion is now turned into a museum where some people said that they saw the dress move and dance on a full moon night. They have also witnessed Anna’s mothers spirit in a black gown and the screams of her elder brother. The tragic story is full of pain, and it might be true that her ghost is still trying to find her long lost love.

The Mirror At Myrtles Plantation

Inside America’s most haunted house, lies a mirror that has trapped souls within. The plantation is rumoured to be built on an ancient Indian burial ground and has witnessed some gruesome things. The story goes that a slave named Chloe, who was mistreated by his owner, Mr And Mrs Woodruff planned to take revenge on them. Chloe poisoned Mrs Woodruff and her children. Although the slave’s intention was that of making them sick, they ended up dying. There is a tradition that says that if someone dies, all the mirrors of the house should be covered so that the soul doesn’t get trapped within. But, sadly one mirror was not covered and is still haunted. The visitors can see the handprints of the children in the mirror, sometimes a dripping mark that doesn’t go away even after cleaning and a woman in old fashioned clothes. Although it can’t be proved that the spirits are of Mrs Woodruff and her children, the plantation sure is haunted.

 ‘The Anguished Man’ Painting

A harmless painting became a source of something evil when the artist who painted it mixed his blood with the paint. Soon after finishing the painting, he committed suicide. The painting is now owned by Sean Robinson, who inherited it from his grandmother, who told him that it is evil. His grandmother kept it in the attic since she saw a shadowy figure in her home when she hung it. Sean, being a sceptic, hung it in his bedroom, only to notice strange happenings around his house. It all started with loud crying noises in the house, along with mist, cold spots and banging. Soon after Sean saw a black figure at night standing in front of his bed while they slept. His wife also found a strange figure beside her in bed, stroking her hair. The haunting became more intense when their son was pushed down the stairs by a figure.

Soon after the incident, the owner locked the painting in the attic, so that no one gets hurt. I won’t personally keep the painting in my attic, but to each their own I guess!

The Cursed Uluru “Sorry” Rocks

The Uluru rocks in Australia are a world heritage site, but beware! Take photos but do not take the rocks as souvenirs with you. Although the Anangu believes there is no curse associated with the rocks, taking them with you is seen as highly disrespectful. Even though there is a fine of 8500$ for taking these rocks, some people still take them anyway, only to return them. The park receives a lot of the rocks returned in mails, with apology letters claiming that the rocks have brought them misfortunes and ill health. Some tourists even come to return them in person, to get rid of the bad luck they were showered upon by just keeping a piece of rock.

Curse or not, but if a rock can bring so much bad luck, why take the risk!

Basano Vase

A Vase that looks harmless has brought death to every person who possessed it, sounds terrifying? Well, the story lacks details but the vase was gifted as a wedding gift to a bride who died before her wedding, as the vase was passed on to other family members, they died as well. Considering it is cursed, the family members dug the vase in a remote location and left it. It later was discovered by a man, who paid no attention to the warning that was with the vase, that it brings death. The vase brought more deaths along its way and now its origin is unknown. Some say it is hidden somewhere so that no one tries to possess it, others believe it’s in some holy place for safety. Whatever the reason be, I hope no one tries digging around to find it!

The Hands Resist Him Painting

An artistic self-portrait painted by Bill Stoneham soon became very popular on eBay as the haunted painting. The painting has a boy, a 5-year-old with a life-sized creepy doll who is supposed to take him to the dream world through the glass separating them both from the hands coming towards them. Sounds unique but not that creepy?

Well, all the owners experienced nightmares and reported that the painting came to life at night. The boy and the doll come out of the painting, and the doll even fights with the boy pointing a gun at him. The haunting doesn’t end here, it is said that whoever prints the painting or views it online, experiences strange paranormal events, feels nauseous and sick. (my laptop shut down apparently while viewing it). Even children who view the painting have nightmares and scream!

The Woman of Lemb

A limestone statue believed to be Cypriot fertility goddess soon acquired another name, “the goddess of death”. All the families who owned it died within a few years, the last family who owned it donated it to a museum and the curator died after one year due to mysterious circumstances. The statue is still in a heavy glass box inside the museum, whether it’s just a mere coincidence or a deadly curse, I wouldn’t want to touch and find out!

Letta The Gypsy Doll

A doll made of human hair, wood and glass eyes called Letta was made by a Romanichal gypsy for his son with immense love. The son often complained that the doll talked to him, but soon after he drowned while playing outside with the doll. It is believed that the son’s soul is now trapped within the doll and hence the name “Letta Me Out” became popular. Many people claimed that the doll talked to their kids and moved on its own. A lot of people also felt immense grief and started crying for no reason when they came in contact with the doll. Even the animals can sense something and often try to attack the doll. Kerry Walton, who now owns the doll, takes it out to showcase it, and he claims that every time he takes the doll out, it rains.

Annabelle Doll

Who hasn’t heard of Annabelle, the doll who possessed the spirit of a young girl who died in a fatal accident? Well, although the movies have a lot of elements that are completely fiction, not everything is a lie. Annabelle did haunt the nurses and rather kept in Ed and Lorraine’s museum. The doll which looks not so frightening in real life is responsible for near-death experiences and is caged in the box sealed with prayers with the words of caution “ Do Not Open Positively”. It is still one of the most dangerous objects in the museum.

People who made fun of the doll or disrespected it, had near-death experiences, most road accidents. The doll is said to be possessed by a very evil force and is not to be toyed with. Recently, there were rumours that the doll was stolen from the museum, but Relax! its still safely sealed inside.

Hope you loved this spooky information, and Beware! These objects are not to be made fun of in any way. Don’t spend a lot of time staring at the cursed paintings online, as it may make you feel nauseous.

The construction industry employed around 11.2 million people in 2018 and maybe more in 2021 in the United States alone. Other jobs use heavy machinery to pour the asphalt, so you will simply have to operate, clean, and monitor the equipment, fixing any flaws. You can learn this skill on the job, and there will be openings for beginner positions. This job requires less skill and more equipment know-how.

Flooring, Tiling, and Masonry

These jobs will require a decent amount of skill but can be learned through small projects and helping employers. You can be laying tile, hardwood, or brick. This position is good to start alongside other work like carpentry and painting.

gaming

The gaming industry in India has come a long way. It first makes its way in India in the late 90s, and years after, it is now one of the prime reasons for India’s growth in the economy. In the past, the gaming sector in India primarily relies on foreign companies. The form of gaming entertainment at that time was solely based on personal computers and consoles. Such gaming options are costly, and only those who have the means can access them.

In the early 2000s, India’s gaming industry has taken off, and the affordability and accessibility of smartphones have something to do with it. From 25 gaming companies that invested in the Indian market, there are now over 250 game developers in the country. It accounts to a multi-million dollar industry and the reason why India’s socio-economic status is thriving despite global challenges.

Overcoming hurdles in India’s gaming industry

The growth in India’s gaming industry didn’t happen right away. There were hurdles along the way, but they were eventually cleared. One of the hurdles is that many investors were skeptical at backing up start-up game developers. It was a long wait, but eventually, investors saw a rise in the gaming market, enticing them to put money. Since then, India’s gaming market has been unstoppable.

Another hurdle in the progress of India’s gaming sector is the inability of many Indians to pay for in-app purchases because of the low credit card standing. However, smartphones have become more available and accessible to all, not to mention the rise in the number of credit card users and other supported payment options like e-Wallets, Google Pay, and UPI. All these advancements have become extremely beneficial for the gaming sector. Moreover, it has led to other online gaming ventures, as you can see in the list of top betting sites in India.

What the future holds for India’s gaming sector?

Although the online gaming industry in India has already grown dramatically, it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. In fact, it still has a long way to go. However, there are new online games that are set to release any time soon. It includes cricket games, survival-theme arcade games, and Quest framework, to name a few.

A big factor in the rise of India’s gaming sector is the accessibility of smartphones, which has caused a massive rise in mobile gaming. As a result, almost 80% of India’s online gaming market are mobile gamers. The rest is consoles and personal computer gamers, which are also mobile gamers. Hence, it is clear to see that India’s gaming sector is mostly driven by mobile gaming.

When the world is in a global pandemic in this time and age, various industries continue to suffer, but not online gaming. In fact, the online gaming industry is what keeps India’s economy thriving. It’s ironic that in this time of crisis, the gaming industry is the one that keeps the economy surviving. The gaming sector will remain the top industry as more and more smartphones are released and more technological advancements in gaming are created. Gaming software developers continue to innovate to make online gaming more entertaining, engaging, and interactive.
