Elephanta Island is in the Arabian Sea. It is 10km away from Gateway of India, Mumbai, Maharashtra. When and who built the caves are unknown. On studying the rocks it has been estimated that it must have been from 5th to 8th century.

Caves:

From the stairs there 7 caves in total and a village below the caves. There are 5 caves for Lord Shiva while 2 caves are for Buddha. The main cave on reaching the island is of Lord Shiva where Mahashivratri has been celebrated every year since the beginning no matter the circumstances. On entering this cave the first carving is of Trimurti.

Elephanta Caves: Island Getaway

Trimurti is Lord Shiva having 3 faces. The first face is of Bramha the creator, Middle is of Shiva the Destroyer and the third face is of Vishnu the Savior. The cave also has carvings of Shiva, Parvati and their sons, Kartikeya and Ganesha, Wedding of Shiva, Ardhanarishvara, Ravana lifting Kailash, Nataraja among many and a Shiv Ling. The carvings are huge and beautiful.

The remaining small caves have Shiv lings and rooms. If interested you can roam around the village too.

From the stairs, you can see an arrow pointing an upward track towards Grand Canon. The treck is small and the panoramic view is amazing. Do go on and explore this bit.

Food:

There is one A/C restaurant owned by MCGM but there are restaurants which have seats placed to give you a sea view. The food is normal. The options of food are between north Indian and Indo-Chinese.

Continuous learning for continuous step up

Learning in cafe
Two happy students sitting by table in college cafe after lessons, having lunch and preparing for seminar

We all know that it is the very rule of Nature that one who adapts itself to the changes of life, to the evolution, is the one who stays forever and one who does not lag behind and ultimately gets extinct. Human life and growth are no different from this rule of Nature. In life too the person who adapts himself to the changes of environment and situations stays along and emerges out being even stronger. The most important rule of adaptation is learning new ways. So one who continuously learns the different techniques of adapting to changes in life and work grows and stays forever.  This method of which involves constantly updating oneself and learning new skills to meet the needs and changes of personal and professional life is nothing but continuous learning.

Learning data
Two young brokers in formalwear standing by computer monitor in office and discussing online information

In today’s fast-paced life, mere learning from school textbooks does not pay off. At jobs these days recruiters often ask” where do you see yourself in next years?” this question has a motive behind. It focuses on your desire to picture yourself with new skills at newer and higher positions. Companies no more invest in short-term gains. So in order to add more value to make yourself an inseparable part of your company you need to continuously master new skills. With improving, technologies people are using newer facilities and manners. One must keep himself updated to all new advancements related to his field or else there is no dearth of people waiting to replace them.

A major question in this regard is how to proceed in the process of continuous learning? ‘Self – Assessment and ‘Self-help’ are the two words to be kept in mind and in practice. You need to understand and estimate your weakness and then practically take an initiative and work on it. You just can’t avoid or hide it for being just too shy to ask for help. Even if it is the simplest of things or a very common thing, if you can’t, you have to access it and reach out for help. Regularly updating yourself helps your personal, professional and social life in remarkable ways as follows :

For employees:

If you are an employee it makes you aware of your competition and helps you to prepare yourself for the long run. It helps you to develop newer skills, lead from the top and who won’t value in-house employees with both experience and skill.

For businessmen:

If you are a businessman, continuous learning is a must for new. Exposure to new principles and awareness of the latest technologies not only helps to expand your business and increase profit, but it will also help in talent recognition, setting clearer goals and providing employees with better resources.

 For teachers:

Teaching is one of the most important sectors where continuous learning is very important. A teacher must be known to all recent discoveries and developments related to his subject. New methods of solving problems and new approaches to daily life issues are the backbones of the profession. Research can never develop if a guide or a teacher does not follow the practice of continuous learning religiously.

For doctors:

A doctor should always engage himself or herself in continuous learning. Every day with the discovery of new pathogens several new diseases come to our notice. To cure that knowledge of recent where-a bouts is very important.

For your own:

Personal life undergoes changes every day. The generation gap between parents and children n have been an old hindrance to their bonding. With continuous learning about the interests of each others’ generation, these differences can be reduced. Also Learning about newer technologies and methodologies makes things convenient in daily life. E.g.knowledge of the latest safety apps and digital money transfers makes life really easy.

For society :

Social life is also enriched with continuous learning. Knowledge of different communities and people help us get mixed with them. Adapting their way of life makes relocation easier. continuous learning is not a phase just to be used at your job. It is to be implemented at all aspects of life. Every day is a new day and every day offers something new to learn. We must be open to it all. Trust me nothing once learned ever goes wasted.

The budget abroad tour : South-Asia , Bhutan

Bhutan – One of the most exquisite and divine land I’ve ever visited. If you love traveling and wanting to visit new places , abroad , then don’t stop reading . This is for you.

Do you need passport to visit BHUTAN ?

Indian nationals intending to visit Bhutan are required to carry any of the two valid ‘Travel Documents’ (a) Valid Indian Passport having validity of minimum 6 months; and/or (b) Voter Identity Card, issued by the Election Commission of India. No Visa is required to visit Bhutan.

Being tender at age , this was my first tour ever outside India. We chose the land route over the aerial to make it more adventurous. The latter experiences that are spoken , are generalized , when I grew up .

What the fuss is all about ?

Is Bhutan a part of India ?

Bhutan was a part of India during the reign of Indian King Ashoka. No Bhutan has never been a part of India. Bhutan became a protectorate of British India after signing a treaty in 1910 allowing the British to “guide” its foreign affairs and defense.

Where To :

Bhutan

Country in South Asia

A little History :

Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. In the High Himalayan, peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations.

The budget abroad tour : South-Asia , Bhutan

Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.

The Capital :

The capital, Thimphu, is home to a bustling weekend market and the ornate Tashichho Dzong, which serves as the government seat. The historic Punakha Dzong, built in 1637, sits at the juncture of 2 rivers and hosts a lavish, multi day religious festival that features masked dances and music. The Phobjikha Valley, habitat for rare black-necked cranes, is a bird-watching destination. As independent travel to Bhutan is not allowed, most visitors book through a tour operator.

Experienced :

The path was full turbulence due to poor road maintenance but the only pleasure among the hooks and crooks was the green and sublime forest. Nights were cold and dark but our car and eyes went running through the enigma.

The budget abroad tour : South-Asia , Bhutan

We ultimately were spellbound to see the cloud kissed hills and small huts which looked like dollhouses from our sight.

The never ending hilly road seemed boring……….until we caught the sight of a magnificent statue of Buddha which wholeheartedly welcomed us to the cold and sunny capital Thimphu.

It was a feeling of sheer bliss and over enjoyment as we travelled a distance of 1975 kms of road which had only two breaks successfully to reach this beauty.

After the ‘very elongated’ journey , some of our co-travellers were panting to go to the hotel.

So, they went off to have their naps and taps while we caught a bird’s eye view of the triumph of Thimphu , i.e , the majesty’s palace. The guide acclaimed that their majesty is a very loyal king and treated his countrymen with no demands. Maybe autocracy took a new shape.

When to visit ?

Popular month for visitors are Mar–Apr (the peak period for blooming rhododendrons) and Oct–Nov (for mild weather, trekking and clear views). A good time for viewing black-necked cranes is Oct–Feb. Key events include the Black-Necked Crane Festival (Gangtey, Nov), which celebrates the arrival of the migrating birds. The rainy monsoon period is June–Sep.

Low Volume, High Value Tourism :

The Bhutanese pride themselves on a sustainable approach to tourism in line with the philosophy of Gross National Happiness. Foreign visitors famously pay a minimum tariff of US$250 per day, making it seem one of the world’s more expensive destinations. However, this fee is all-inclusive – accommodation, food, transport and an official guide are all provided, so it’s not a bad deal. You don’t have to travel in a large group and you can arrange your own itinerary. What you won’t find is budget backpacker-style travel.
