Coffee – The Hottest Friend

0

The day of many people starts with a meeting with their hot and strong friend. There are people who feel that their day is incomplete without him. They cannot resist themselves from meeting him at least twice a day. He is the one who helps them to be awake the whole night during exams. He is the one who relaxes them during stresses and pressures. I think you would have guessed who this ‘HE’ is!!! Yes…the ‘HE’ is none other than the best friend of many people- THE COFFEE.

Coffee is one of the beverages which is widely consumed by people all over the world. Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of berries from the Coffea plant. There are different varieties of Coffee available in the world. When you are on a world tour and if you are a Coffee lover, then the list below is for you. Just try them out….

Indonesia: Kopi luwak or civet coffee

The world’s most expensive coffee, civet coffee is made from the seeds of coffee berries which have been excreted by a small wild cat, the Asian palm civet.

Turkey: Turk kahvesi

According to a famous Turkish proverb, a coffee should be “as black as hell, as strong as death and as sweet as love“. Served from a long-handled copper pot called a cezve, people savour this thick brew mostly after meals.

India: Indian filter Coffee

Also called ‘kaapi,’ this drink is popular for its aroma. Served hot, it’s a mix of frothed, boiled milk and decoction of finely-ground coffee powder.

France: Cafe au lait

The day begins in France with a cup of cafe au lait. This is a hot milk coffee that is normally served in a mug that’s wide enough for people to dunk their baguettes (French bread) or croissants in.

Saudi Arabia: Kahwa

The Arabian brew is spiced with cardamom. People have it with dates to counter its bitter taste.

Italy: Espresso

The Italian espresso is sometimes served with a drop of milk, in tiny cups and is commonly sipped while standing.

Cuba: Cafe Cubano

This is a strong coffee which is traditionally taken without milk. It is served in small proportions in tiny cups and is enjoyed best while socialising.

Mexico: Cafe de olla

Cinnamon lovers would relish this Mexican drink. The coffee is brewed with cinnamon sticks in earthenware pots.

Coffee - The Hottest Friend

Ethiopia: Buna

The coffee-making ceremony involves roasting the beans in a container, grinding them in a wooden mortar and pestle and then brewing them in a special pot with a spherical base called jebena. The entire process can take up to two hours and the coffee is served with salt and butter instead of sugar.

Spain: Cortado

The name of the drink comes from the word cortar, which in Spanish means to cut. The drink is a combination of espresso and milk. While making the drink, the espresso is cut with a dash of steamed milk.

Australia: Flat white

Developed in Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s, a flat white is prepared by pouring microfoam over a double shot of espresso.

Austria: Melange

Containing espresso and steamed milk, it is topped with froth or whipped cream, which makes it different from a traditional cappuccino.

Vietnam: Egg Coffee

Described by many as ‘liquid tiramisu,’ this drink is made by beating egg yolks and mixing it with Robusta coffee, sugar and condensed milk.

Germany: Pharisaeer Kaffee

As with many other things, Germany’s coffee is also unique. It’s made by adding two ounces of rum to dark roasted coffee and sweetening it with sugar. Then whipped cream is added on the top to make the coffee an absolute delight.

So, this is how Coffee is being consumed with different names in different countries. Whatever may be the name, the content is same and the uses are the same. Having many health benefits, it’s no wonder that Coffee has occupied the top place in almost everyone’s list of favourite beverages.

Thoughts you get when you are a first time content writer

Content writing, blogs and reviews can be great fun specially when you get to write on topics close to your heart. While some people start it early from their school days others often do it later. But there is a marked difference between writing for school or college magazines and writing professionally.
Some say that it all gets fine with experience . However early bird or not there are a few things that goes through every first timer while jotting down their first piece.

I hope even you will relate to these thoughts:

Thoughts you get when you are a first time content writer

1.“Finally I have bagged in my first assignment” :

The joy of getting your first write-up after so many applications and rejections is boundless. You will tend to relieve that the earlier applications were not actually worth your time and passion. Several thoughts will run through head as you get super excited to start.

2.“ I will do the best research ever “ :

Let whatever be the topic of your first write-up you will find it to be the most interesting one. You will find it to be totally ‘your’ topic. With that and a cup of steaming coffee and you will start with your research. Promising yourself that this writing will be your best ever.

3.“ Am I bragging ?” :

While writing professionally for the first time you will definitely get conscious in the middle of your writing. You will think whether you are actually writing something interesting and engaging or just bragging along. You will actually re-read your write-up time and again just check if you have ever used the same set of words twice.

4.“ I should do more research …. “ :

The more conscious you get the more you will tend to think that you are not doing extensive research work that you should be doing. So you will yourself to another cup of coffee and start browsing more.

5.“O god , I hope my grammar is correct” :

Let how much high grades you scored in your English language paper in school ; how many novels you have read, you are bound to get a panic attack for your ‘tenses’ and ‘persons’.

6.“ Damn punctuation !” :

Punctuation can be super confusing at times. You will surely get super irritated with the punctuation, specially when you can’t decide whether to use ‘ , ‘ or ‘ ; ’. You will definitely curse the person who invented these.

7.“Thank God ! I have Spell check” :

After all the cursing you will be super thankful to see the red line underneath any word. You be relieved to realize that at least you do not need to worry about your spelling.

8.“Good Job girl, good !” :

After extensive research work when you will find that you have almost read all possible data available you will start feeling confident about yourself. That’s not all . You might even pat your own back and praise yourself.

9.“ Finally they are going to get the best writing till date “ :

After you jot down the last word of your writing you will reach the epitome of pride and satisfaction. For you this writing will be the best ever. You might even be planning to send it to some official entries of awards. Super happy you.

10.“ Why is he not sending the acceptance note?” :

After all the hard work when you finally send the writing to your boss for approval. This will be the worst wait ever. On one hand you will be excited about all the praise you are expecting to get and on the other the time lag can take a toll on you. It will not only make you super grumpy but also restless.

11.“ I will surely not get paid this time “ :

The longer the time taken by your boss to approve , the lesser are your chances to get paid. This is the exact thing that will go on in your mind. Sometimes if your boss is super busy and kind of forgets about your submission, you might head towards the door yourself.

12.“ Yes, I made it finally, Yes !” :

Thank God, Thank mom ,Thank teacher ,thank everybody – this will be you the moment you get your salary after approval of writing. With that the next thought is “common its a big achievement, what will I be gifting myself? “

New ventures are super exciting and simultaneously super tough. But the real fun lies in the process of learning and mastering the new role. It can be your profession or simply your passion. But every first time brings in a gush of new happiness and fears. I hope you could relate to the thoughts that crossed my mind when I wrote my price of web writing and had fun relieving you time

#Metoo: Acknowledging Sexual Abuse

0

On October 7, 2017, New York Times reported the sexual assaults faced by many women and started the #Metoo Campaign which worked with award-winning producer Harvey Weinstein. The assaults have been over a period of 30 years which is deeply disturbing because the victims in the list are renowned actresses who have secured themselves a strong ground in Hollywood but were never able to come forward.

The mental pain of being harassed needs strength to overcome but shouldn’t point out the accused and getting justice for doing wrong be less painful?

That is never the case let the person be in any field.  The stigma provided by society from acknowledging to getting them punished is too much.

#Metoo: Acknowledging Sexual Abuse

#Metoo

The fact that Harvey got away with his antics proves that society never gave anyone a safe environment to call out wrong. Be it a man or woman they should be able to point out the person committing the wrong and make everyone aware that doing such a thing is not acceptable. Otherwise, the doers will keep doing it and encourage others to do so too.

#Metoo: Acknowledging Sexual Abuse

This is not the first time that a famous person has been reported with sexual assaults case or misconduct with co-workers.  But this time #Metoo term was used by women in social media on being a victim of sexual assault or harassment. It was initiated by actress Alyssa Milano.

During the first 24 hours of starting this, 4.7  million people responded with their stories showing how disturbing conditions we live in. It is a huge step to admit but so is it a chance to repair. Let’s make sure that everyone can hear and understand that it is not the victim’s fault.  No, they never were asking for it. There is a code of conduct that a huge mass of people does not know of.  Educating is need of the hour and this is the moment where maybe on eve of accepting a mere chance of learning and changing can happen.

Another stream of tags had started too where men came forward and stated stories where they thought it was cool to act in a certain way but realized they were wrong and by stating the story they are trying to make sure that they don’t do the same. That’s exactly what is required

Change occurs in small steps. This is surely one of them. How much of change might occur by this is questionable but even one in a million is a good one.

‘Tumhari Sulu’ is an upcoming Bollywood movie, which has actress ‘Vidya Balan‘ in the lead role. Directed by Suresh Tiwari, the movie appears promising as Vidya has time and again displayed her acting prowess. The trailer has already garnered huge attention which has piqued the curiosity of cine-goers.

About The Movie

Tumhari Sulu

This slice-of-life movie is about a middle aged woman who is a cheerful person by nature. Her life changes entirely when she gets a job offer for night-time Radio Jockey. The songs of the flick seem perfectly in synchronization with the aura of the film. Every other stuff of the movie, be it costumes, make-up etc. is appearing on point (as suggested by trailer).

First Look Launch

Through the teaser of this movie, first look of Vidya Balan was unveiled to her fans in September 2017. She was seen in a ‘regular housewife avataar’, draped in regular saree and a plated hairdo. Her look completely signified the ‘Indian woman’ whom we encounter now and then on our daily basis. Despite of such non-glamorous look, the actress commands our attention due to the honesty which she seemingly has for the role in the movie.

Official Trailer

The trailer of the movie has gained appreciation at a very quick pace. It showed how this happy-go-lucky lady (Vidya as Sulochana) believes in living a joyful life. She is seen talking in naughty tone to her callers as R.J. which packs laughter. The story of the movie is largely clear from the trailer itself but even after that there is a lot more that the flick has to offer.

Releasing Date

Even before the movie is released, the flick is appearing a hit for Vidya Balan. Since the actress has always justified all kinds of roles she had played, her natural performance in this upcoming flick also seems promising. The movie will be released on 17 November 2017!

Rally For Rivers

0

Unseasonal rains are destroying the crops. The sudden increase in Carbon dioxide content is melting the polar caps. The pollution is damaging all the Natural resources. The most important resource that has been recognized as being polluted and getting exhausted is the fresh river water.
Rally For Rivers is a campaign launched by Isha Foundation to save the rivers, the Life lines of this country

What is the motive behind starting it?

India has grown along the banks of major rivers. Our ancient civilizations were born along the waters. For many years, we maintained the sanctity of this relationship. But in the last few decades, due to the increase in population and industrial development, our perennial rivers are becoming seasonal. Many of the smaller rivers have already vanished. The Ganga and Indus are the world’s most endangered rivers according to WWF.

Majorly depleting rivers in India:

Ganga, Kaveri, Krishna and Narmada.

Key statistics:

· 25% of India is turning into desert.
· Today, we have 75% less water per person than that in 1947.
· 22 out of major 32 Indian cities deal with water shortage every day.
· If this is not targeted soon, only 50% water will be available till 2030 for our survival.
Isha Foundation has come forward with an extra-ordinary plan to reverse this decline and revive our rivers.

Rally For Rivers
What is the idea?

With over a decade of experience in matters related to the environment and sustainability, Isha Foundation offers the best solution to stabilize and revitalize our rivers. It involves creating and maintaining tree cover for a minimum of one kilometre on either side of the entire river length and half a kilometre for tributaries. Native forest trees would be planted in government-owned land along riverbanks. Organic fruit tree cultivation would be taken up on private farmers’ lands.
This solution ensures that rivers are restored and farmers’ livelihood is also enhanced by doubling their income in five years. The availability of fruit improves nutritional intake among people. Trees help keep rivers perennial, reduce floods and drought, increase precipitation, mitigate climate change and prevent soil erosion. This event is an effort to:
• Make everyone aware about the crisis our rivers are facing
• Create awareness among all sections of society about the need to Rally for Rivers
• Gather public support and momentum for the government to implement a positive river policy.

How did the society contribute?

In order to suggest a recommendation to the Central Governmment, the support of common people is very essential. So, the foundation needed a minimum of 10 crore votes to put forward their objective. The people were asked to leave a missed call to a specific number and give their support. There was a great response from the public.

When did it happen?

The rally started from the Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore on September 3 and was ended in Delhi on October 2. It covered 13 states and 21 major cities. The rally covered a total distance of 6560 km across India.
To create awareness amongst all sections of society, Isha Foundation organized a “Rally for Rivers” awareness campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment in many cities.

I am personally happy that this campaign has reached millions of people and many are talking about it. This rally has gained huge momentum and has gathered support from people from all walks of life including celebrities, chief ministers of different parties, and sports people. Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramiah has given full support for this rally and has entered MOU with Isha Foundation to plant 25 Crore tree saplings along the River Cauvery. Rally for Rivers has gathered support from different celebrities including Superstar Rajnikanth.

Thanks to Isha Foundation for taking an initiative to protect the rivers in India. In spite of knowing the future threats, if we do not act now to reverse the serious decline of these lifelines, the next generation will have to pay a very heavy price.

The Most Awaited Film Of 2017: Padmavati

0
Padmavati

‘Padmavati’, directed by ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a period drama film which has Deepika Padukone in the titular role alongside Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari. The flick has been a part of many mishaps and controversies since the time of its shoot. Even now, there are protests from some religious groups who have threatened to burn the theatres if the movie gets released!

About The Movie

PadmavatiThe movie is based on the life of legendary Rajput queen (Rani Padmini) whose mention is found in an epic poetry ‘Padmavat’, written in 1540 CE. According to ‘Padmavat’ she was a wife of Rawal Ratan Singh (played by Shahid Kapoor), who was a Rajput king of Mewar in ancient times. Ranvir Singh is portraying the role of Alauddin Khilji, who was believed to lay siege to Chittor Fort in Rajputana, pushed by the desire to capture Rani Padmini.

First Look Launch

The first look of Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini was launched back in September 2017. She looked as authentic and beautiful as it can get with all her regal glory. It was also believed that the actress chose to grow her hairs instead of using wigs to bring realism to the movie. The looks of Ranvir Singh and Shahid Kapoor were launched weeks after Deepika’s look in the flick was unveiled and it left many mouths a gape. Shahid looked convincing as a ‘Rajput’ ruler and garnered appreciation in a great deal. However, the scene-stealer was Ranvir Singh who looked both melancholic and utterly convincing as Alauddin Khilji. The evil look in his eyes, the ‘kaja’l and his attitude down pat has made viewers more excited and impatient for the release of the film.

Official Trailer

The much awaited trailer was released on 9 October 2017 and has been received well by viewers on social media platforms. The trailer featured Deepika Padukone in various looks as Rani Padmini which is an attractive part. Shahid Kapoor is simplistic and genuine in the trailer. What is actually grabbing most eyeballs is the way Ranvir Singh is shown as his looks and his character is something which is not been witnessed before by his fans and his perception as evil ‘Alauddin Khilji’ is entirely coming alive through the trailer.

Below is the link, do watch!

Release Date

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has really put his heart into making this film. At several points he had increased the budget of the film to leave no stone unturned to bring realism to the movie. Initially, the movie was slated to release on 17 November 2017 but as controversies and problems got attached to it, the flick is now set to hit theatres on 1 December 2017!

NOBEL PRIZE- THE PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

0

Every year Nobel prizes are awarded during this period. These are regarded as the most prestigious awards in the world. But do you know when the custom of declaring these awards started and the reason behind starting it? Without any more delay, let’s explore it…
ALFRED NOBEL
The man behind this idea is.. Alfred Nobel, a Swedish scientist. He had a great attraction towards chemistry and interested in many languages. He was proficient in English, German, French and Russian. He made as many as 355 discoveries in his entire life and owns patents for all of them. One of the most powerful bombs, the ‘Dynamite’ is one among his discoveries. All this is fine…but how did he get an idea to present awards in his name?
BIRTH OF THE IDEA
In 1883, Nobel’s brother passed away in Cannes. But a French newspaper wrongly published it as the death of Alfred Nobel, with the headline-“THE MERCHANT OF DEATH IS DEAD”. Since the Dynamite was his discovery, people gave him that name. Nobel was shocked on seeing the news. He had invented many other things other than the dynamite, but people remembered him only for his Dynamite. With this incident there ran a fear in him as how people would remember him after his death. He was worried about his name and fame in the future generations. This was the point where he felt the necessity to establish an award in his name and present it to people who excelled in their respective fields. So, as mentioned in his will, awards were being given from then on.
WHO SPONSERS THE AWARDS??
Alfred Nobel himself has sponsored for all the awards. Wondered??? But yes, this is true. He had given away 94% of his property for this sake. All the revenue for these awards is from the interest on his savings. But the Nobel prize in Economics is alone sponsored by the Bank Of Sweden. In this way, Nobel prizes were being distributed to the experts since 1901.
THE FIVE DOMAINS
The Nobel prizes are awarded to people who have contributed their best in six different fields. The six streams are
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Literature
• Medicine
• Global Peace
• Economics
The prize distribution takes place at Stockholm, Sweden, while the Nobel Peace Prize alone is distributed at Oslo, Norway. Though the awards are announced well in advance, they are distributed only on December 10, the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel.

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE
The award is distributed among three people in each field every year. The prize money is taken from the fund that Alfred Nobel had donated for the cause. Every Nobel prize is worth of approximately 70 million rupees. The prize money is also distributed among the Nobel laureates in each field.

WHAT IS THE SELECTION CRITERIA??
It’s not that easy to get nominated for the Nobel felicitation. One cannot nominate oneself. Though one’s name is under reference, no information will be given regarding that in prior. Only after the award is announced that the awardees will get to know. There is a special committee that nominates and selects the people to be awarded. They carry out all this procedure in secrecy.

NOBEL PRIZE- THE PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
SOME MORE…..
• It was decided in 1974 that the Nobel prizes will not be presented posthumously.
• The Indian Laureates of The Nobel are twelve in number.
• The first ever Indian to receive the prize was the great poet, Rabindranath Tagore.
• Since 1901, the Nobel Committee has distributed 911 Nobel prizes till date.
• The excellency in the field of Mathematics is not being felicitated by the Nobel. But the  FIELDS MEDAL that is given to the young mathematicians is considered as the Nobel prize in this domain.
• The International Committee Of Red Cross is the only organisation to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for three times.
• Mary Curie was awarded twice for her contributions in the fields of Physics and Chemistry.
• Some famous Indians who received this honour
Rabindranath Tagore – Literature  – 1913
C.V.Raman               – Physics      – 1930
Mother Teresa           – Peace       – 1979
Amartya Sen            – Economics – 1998
Kailash Satyarthi      – Peace        – 2014
These are the people who have made India proud by their selfless contributions in their respective fields.
• This year the Nobel prizes are awarded to-
Physics        – Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish , Kip S. Thorne
Chemistry    – Jacques Dubochet, Joachim Frank, Richard Henderson
Medicine      – Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Rosbash, Michael W. Young
Literature     – Kazuo Ishiguro
Peace          – International Campaign to abolish Nuclear Weapons
Economics   – Richard Thaler

So, the great thought of Alfred Nobel many years ago, has provided recognition to many scientists and socialists. They are being felicitated for their works in their respective fields. They get a great respect in the society and they also remain as an inspiration in many young minds. The world is getting to know about the new discoveries happening. They get to know the struggle of some people who are trying to eradicate poverty and establish peace in the country.
A great salute and big thank you to ALFRED NOBEL for making this possible.
