Where to start

commuters on an overcrowd

So you are often stuck in the dilemma of choosing between many options? And you are not able to decide what can be chosen from the given options? Don’t worry! You are not the only one who is in a quandary. There are a lot of people out there who want to know what move they should make in order to achieve their goals.

So here are some of the ways which will help you in deciding what’s best for you.

  • Ask questions.

Where to start

Yeah, you read that correctly. Surround yourself with people who can make every moment spent with them productive. Ask questions from them, listen to them carefully and explore the options they give you. You’ll gain a lot of knowledge from them.

You may think that people will make fun of you. But you don’t need to worry about it because in the next few years, the opinion of those people won’t matter to you. Whatever you are doing, you are doing it for yourself and your respective families.

So don’t give a damn as to what people say in front of you or behind your back. All you have to do is focus on improving yourself and gaining a better perspective of life.

  • Maintain a journal.

Make a list of all the things that make you happy. Write all of the things you want to explore. Jot down everything in your journal. Make a to-do list for every single day and put a tick across the things that you’ve done.

This helps a lot. It’ll improve your writing skills as well as help you in exploring yourself. When you’ll realize that you’ve done whatever you wanted to, it’ll give you a different kind of happiness. Happiness that is pure and genuine. And this will boost up your confidence as well as increase your enthusiasm thus increasing your craving to explore yourself more.

  • Read news

Be aware of your surroundings and whatever is happening across the globe. You’ll get to know which topics interest you more and you can give them a shot then.

You will then be able to express your opinions and discuss various things amongst a group of people. You won’t be quiet anymore. And your opinions will matter, because you’ll know what you’re talking about. This will boost up your confidence level and you’ll be able to trust yourself more thus increasing your capacity to explore yourself.

Always start with small goals first. Then move to the bigger ones. As there’s a very famous Hindi saying “Boond boond se banta saagar”. So collect small drops first and then start integrating them so as to form an ocean.

All the ways mentioned above will help you in exploring yourself. Give them a shot and let me know in the comments if you find them helpful.

Hope you enjoyed reading the article. ☺

I am a transgender

transgender

I am neither a boy nor a girl,

Not a man or a woman,

I am a person who stands in between them; I am the third gender;

Yes! I am a transgender.

Different from the normal human beings but still one of its kinds,

Same as their structure but different in gender,

Yes! I am a transgender.

And now I am an unknown even to those who gave me birth,

Just because they found out the kind of gender I posses,

They threw me out from their residence and seize away their name from mine,

They discarded me to decide my doom,

They left me to suffer alone,

They left me to screech alone,

They left me even when they saw tears in my eyes,

They took everything they had given to me,

Only some amount of currency in my hand,

It will be the matter of time and it would become peter out; within a very short span,

Then I will have nothing other than this life which I have acquire from them,

Well, that all happened because I am a transgender,

Yes! Just because I am a transgender.

But how is this my fault?

So now I doubt if I have a mother or a father,

Neither a sister nor a brother,

With whom I can play or dance,

With whom I can study and gossip,

With whom I can go to school and everywhere,

With whom I can share my thoughts and pranks,

But unfortunately not a single soul I owe,

Not even a soul, who can cry after my death,

Not even a one, who can wipe my tears,

Not even a one, who can stand by me during the phase of snags,

Perhaps it is all because I am a transgender,

Yes! I am a transgender.

I have a name but not an identity,

I have a life but not an aim,

I have a lot of friends but they do not make a family,

Only because I am a transgender,

Yes! I am a transgender.

Travelling solo, Need not worry

Solo travelling

More people do not like to travel solo for obvious reasons like – loneliness and risk of managing the entire things single handedly and many more. There are pros and cons of travelling alone, but I prefer taking into consideration the pros and enjoying the trip alone all by me. When you are unaccompanied by someone on a trip you tend to be more in control, independent and aware of the whereabouts. The best part while travelling alone is that you get to travel at your own pace, taking innumerable halts at different places, eat by yourself. You stay close and connected to the surrounding when you are alone it allows you to be more open and present at the place. You go where you want you do things that interest you without anyone’s interference. Whereas when too many wanderers travel together, there are often chances of difference in opinions about travelling to a particular place, eating at some restaurant or maybe even trying out some adventure sport. Therefore travelling alone is all about spending some special time with the magnificence of the nature and being all you.

Here are some quick tips about travelling solo that would surely help you the next time you plan to travel all alone –

  • Plan in advance

travel
Hand writing travel plan in a lined spiral notepad arranged on a map

Now since you’ll be travelling alone, you would obviously need to plan in advance, be prepared and opened to everything.  Planning in advance will help you enjoy your trip in the best possible way. By planning, I literally mean to plan out and make an in-depth itinerary about your trip – from departure to arrival at your destination, to wisely choosing and selecting hotels, lodges or guest house for your accommodation and whichever you feel would be the safe in an unknown city, state or country. You also need to plan about where you would eat if you are travelling to another country.

  • Keep important belongings handy

travellingThis is the most essential part of travelling solo. You need to be close to all the important belongings. If you are travelling to a different country ALWAYS keep your passport close to you, you never know when you would need it in the unknown country. Check your tickets before you start to travel; you wouldn’t want to be in a trouble and spoil your journey. Also don’t forget to check your wallet before starting your journey carry enough cash or cards for that matter.  Keep your mobile phone battery under check at all times, don’t wait for your phone to drain out of battery completely rather keep a power bank handy or an alternative cellphone along.

Don’t forget to carry a map of the place you are visiting for the first time and also try and learn a few words of the local language, trust me you’d thank me later for this free tip. Carry a small first-aid kit with all kinds of medicines while travelling. Keep an umbrella along with you if you know it’s raining in that particular place. Also don’t miss out on carrying a pull-over or a shawl if travelling to higher altitudes.

  • Pack smart

img_2397You are going on solo trip and not going to settle there forever, so please DO NOT carry your entire wardrobe along with you. Remember you are on solo trip that is you would travel all alone and no one is going to be there to help you with your luggage so don’t take too many bags along with you. Not only carrying the luggage would be a problem but also taking care of the luggage is important at the same time. PACK WISELY it’s a free advice take it! Take only few clothes along with you. If you are travelling for a week don’t take 15-16 pair of clothes and stuff your bag. Carry one backpack with minimum number of clothes and only essentials along with you. By essentials I mean – passport, tickets, cell phone, minimum clothes, camera (obviously), compass and a map.

  • Meet the locals

meet the localTo make your solo voyage more memorable and fun, visit the locals around your hotel or lodge; talk to them they can be the best guide for you to enjoy your stay in their city. The locals can even give you information that the internet cannot and trust me it’s often entertaining to hear some stories and incidents that they share. They can also give you some inside stories about the place you have come to visit. Learn some basic words of their local language and make a note of it so that it becomes helpful for you in your journey ahead. Get to know from the locals about some special delicacies and food joints providing them. And these locals are sweet enough and how they become your good friend in no time and make your trip worth cherishing.

  • Use public transport

Travelling solo, Need not worry

When travelling in unknown city, state or country it is advisable to use the public transport. There are 2 benefits of the same –

  • You are safer when you are around too many people and if something goes wrong with you, they are going to help you deal with it.
  • You get to talk to many people and passengers on board travelling with you, possibilities are that you may even end up making an unexpected friend on this journey who would accompany you through the rest of your trip.

Solo travelling is intensely personal because you are discovering yourself and exploring new places that you had anticipated to visit.   Make the most of the solo journey, it’s like your solo trip is a gift from you to you!

He was fast asleep enjoying his only dream, she shared his bed laying on his chest and he playing with her hairs. As always he realized he was disturbed by his alarm but this time it was a call. A call which changed his life forever.

He could not accept it. With his shivering hands, he picked the keys. His own regular roads now seem unknown to him. The memories of her started flourishing his mind. He remembers the very first time he saw her. Her pleasant laugh was like spring for him. He still remembers clearly her white-skinned dress she wore the angel she saw for the first time in his life. Within seconds he realized he got his girl.

Frightenedly he asked her for friendship, knowing her rejection could killed him inside. It was like the universe was on his side that day for she accepted his friendship. He wishes to now spend every second of his life with her but every time he approached her, he could sense his heart beat loudly. His heart advising him to ran to her, his mind forcing him to change the way. Following his heart he texted her, still having saved their first conversation

He: hi

trolling his phone continuously for four hours, he finally heard the most awaited sound. It was her.

She: Hi

with his heart telling him to confess his feelings he listened to his mind..

He: How are you?

She: Fine. You say?

He: fine since you are fine my love(deleted)

I am fine as well (sent)

Their first conversation ended. He waited for hours but got nothing. But from that day onwards, everytime his phone screen lightens his name he could feel his heart to his mouth. Soon their small conversations converted into regular chats. Everytime his phone lightens he wanted it to be her only. A year and half went to their friendship, he still prolonged for her voice. He never asked her for he was sure he gonna listen it his whole life. He remember the night, the ever most beautiful night of his life.

It was 21st dec 12:00 AM the chilled winter night, his birthday and he got the best birthday gift he could wish for. He listened her voice for the first time. The voice which made him feel pity for every other person since none had the sweetest voice he just heard. For the first time he didn’t like everyone wishing him, since he only want to heard just one voice.

Every other voice sounded like a curse to him. It was 12:45 AM when the call finally started and for him it was best birthday celebration he could ever hope for. It was the night which he never wanted to end. The night for which no morning was required. Another year went off with her soft voice and her little carings for him, making him to fall for her more with every passing second. Finally the day came he couldnt handle it more, he decided to confess his feelings for her, made his mind to confess his love for her. 13th november, the day he thought his life changed forever.

They went for their usual long walk to enjoy the silence of nature. With his own shivering hand and his heart beating loud, he hold her hand, their first physical touch.

The warmth of her hands, the way her fingers curled around his made him feel secure. She did’nt resist it and finally he confessed his love to her. Than all he could see was tears rolling down her cheeks and her eyes glittering with happiness. It was the day he realise she was much more beautiful than he thought. The way she wrapped herself around his arms made him feel like he got his world, a world where he want nothing but just her to be with him.

Still memorising each and every memory of her, driving with his cold hands he reached the place, his favourite place her house. The place which he now feel has become a trap for him. There she was sleeping peacefully in her favourite cot which was once white but has now turned into pure red. The red colour which he once loved on her but now hated it even near to her. No sooner he realised it was the last time he could see her.

For the first time he found his girl not beautifull while sleeping. He now remember how honestly she hide her each and every pain from him but shared his all ups and downs. He remember her last words when she was dying of pain but still did not forgot to ask her about his minor headache. He wanted to let her know how much she meant to him but he was too late according to fate. He tried his best to shed the tears to cry his heart out but couldn’t. He realised something inside him died that day. Rather it was not she whom he lost that day but he lost himself forever.

Its been six years now but he is still searching for his soul, for love could end but soul never dies.

Love Just Happens!

love
jarmoluk / Pixabay

Love just happens is the most used statement. In today’s world, our older generation often disagrees with us in most of the cases. But we are surprised to know that they agree with us on this statement. Love is a beautiful feeling with strong emotion which cannot be arranged.
In reality, love is hard to find and even harder to maintain as it cannot be arranged but can be destroyed due to strong factors such as misunderstanding, lies, etc.

images-8

If we talk about the arranged marriage then it is not the natural love between the two persons. They are bound to love each other as they need to stay together. Here, love doesn’t mean love of a few minutes or for some time like children loves their toy for a small period of time. Here, love means a pure feeling that stays forever. We often say that we need to arrange everything according to the time. This simply means that everything in our life is needed to be arranged. But also loves sees no time. That means, love is nonarrangeable. We can arrange the things which are outer but not the things which are internal. It is all about the feeling.

Takmeomeo / Pixabay

You don’t need a perfect reason to love someone nor you need a perfect excuse not to love someone. Love is a key to unlock every problem. It is an unchangeable feeling with memorable moments. Who says distance defines our love,  presence defines it, fight defines it or separation defines it, nothing defines it because love has no definition. It is not theoretical, it is only experimental and it can only be felt and not be arranged.

Well there is no option like that to fall in love with someone, it just happens suddenly and then everything seems beautiful around. Even when the path is full of obstacles you will only focus on this sweet feeling. There was a time when my thinking was a bit different that love is a choice of commitment with someone who suits you. Love is even much more than that. Love is something that makes you feel special when the person accepts you with your imperfections, that makes you stronger than before. Only God has the power to decide the right one for you. Life is not about always having joy and excitements, it does hit obstacles but when you face the wrong time your love will always be there for you in any situation. You will face a situation when there would be no-one taking your stand. Then your love is the one that will support or encourage you.

images-6

Let us consider that there are many people who are very much focused on their work or someone who want to achieve something in their life. They decide not to fall in love with someone or something but can this happen. NO! they can ignore or delay it for sometime or they refuse to admit when they get affected by it. But surely one day or the other they are going to fall in love. We can’t resist the feeling that attracts us the most. It is a more strong and effective feeling. So, how can we run from it?
We often heard that if you want to make a culprit leave his habit of stealing or a lier to stop lying or someone to leave him any habit, the only solution of this is by love. Affectionately showing him what is right and what is wrong, and treating him with love and concern as love has so much of power to change anyone.

By knowing these factors and proof we know that love has power and when something has power then how can we resist it. It has its own power of influencing someone. How much ever we say that we should control our emotions but we can’t. The world changes when you fall in love. No, I don’t say that you listens to music in the background but you keep thinking of that person. You get attach to his or her belongings. You are ready to change for him or her. Love is a beautiful feeling which has a power of performing miracles. We want to belong to someone and make that other one belonged to us. Even though some people deny it, they know deep in their heart that love just happens.

Startup to express and explore

happiness

Startup this word is being spoken and heard a lot these days, Am I correct?. But am not writing this to share a story of how a normal employee working 9 to x (where x= don’t know till what time he/she is screwed up), switched his mind and became an entrepreneur or give techie advices on how to collaborate and own a startup or gear you up with saving of taxes scheme for budding entrepreneurs which of course a wonderful step taken by government.

Assuming how insensitive the world would be in future, Honorable and respected Theoretical physicist Albert Einstein quoted

I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots.

And like all his theories this theory is almost proven correct by our generation. Hurray!!…Congratulations everyone, we have turned the theory of Einstein practically correct (though we physics knowledge is limited only to newton’s third law of motion only and not beyond that). We have become addicted to technology that we can’t imagine a world without it. Recently I came across a post in Facebook where it was mentioned “3 million dollars prize money for the person who will not be using internet for 3 months”. Could anyone dare to do it?

Internet and technology has made our living easier and comfortable. I agree completely, but that doesn’t mean we become slaves to it. Remember British people came to India with a business in mind and then turned out to be masters. Technology is no different than the British. These days many of us talk to our parents mostly in Whatsapp and we feel proud of that. But when we question ourselves are we satisfied in this way, we ignore the reply of our conscience. Let’s start with our most common addiction “Chatting”

Do emoticons carry our expressions or we copy theirs ?

geralt / Pixabay

To begin with, we see and use many emoticonsin our day to day life, infect we rather convey our emotions with these smileys. Starting from a “Hello” to “ Bye.. Take care” is followed with a smiley , or maybe we feel these smileys transfer our feelings to the opposite person in an appropriate manner than our real expressions. I totally agree to it but these yellow faces carry an expression which were created when the dear god has made us, The Human beings. Yellow faces with expressions of smile, hatred, anger, open mouth smile, laugh out loud  and many more are the resemblance of our emotions. In the process of using these smileys I am afraid we will forget portraying our original expressions. If you don’t agree try an exercise on your own. Pick an expression and take a Selfie with that expression, am sure the yellow face would beat you in giving that particular expression (except for the smile face because I feel everyone looks beautiful when they smile and no emoticon could beat the original smile).

This concerns me, and of course if not taken precaution this will concern all of us.  You know where the problem lies ,as usually it lies within us. We do chat with people and make friends but we do it virtually. Imagine a day without facebook, whatsapp ,twitter, instagram blah blah blah.. Our faces would be like “For Heaven’s sake please don’t ask me to imagine horrifying things..” …it’s horrifying but it’s true that these chatting and dating apps have dwelled so much into our lives that we forgot to talk to people in person. We are comfortable in sending a tongue out smiley to a stranger but are not comfortable to smile at a person sitting next to us. We have no problem in chatting whole night with a Facebook friend with whom we have met once or twice or in most scenarios known him/her by name and face, but we are have a problem speaking to person sitting next to us at office( since months and in worst cases years ) . Doubt my concept’s, here goes another exercise for you, ask yourself if you know the birthday of your neighbor colleague, if not his or her favorite dish or at least favorite color.

Am sure 90% would fail and few will stop reading for a moment and enquire the same with their neighbor colleagues then and there if they are at their workplace and rest 10% would think as “not a big deal” and would not even take a shit to know the answers. Factually these people are shelled with more of “Ego” which is rather a dangerous disease and for which even scientists are scratching their bald heads to find a remedy. Well let’s not divert from the topic. My intention is to bring awareness that we are forgetting ourselves and it’s not correct.

Allow me to put it in business terminology even. Every employer want to get cent percent efficiency from their employees and it is logical after all they are paying for that. But they fail to understand that they hire humans not machines for work. Unfortunately humans got emotions. Just in a situation where a particular employee has done a commendable work and the supervisor or the employer had written a formality mail saying “Good work”. Would that be better or the employer wishing him personally and mentioning the same two words” Good work” in person? Now the critics obviously come up with a blunt question “what if the employer and employee are not in the same building and can’t meet him personally?” To that my answer would be there is no way that an employer can’t be approachable to an employee if he wishes to. “Where there is a will there is a way”. Encouraging an individual in person would leave more impact and in turn doubles the efficiency of the employee where both the employee and employer are mutually benefited.

Who is rich and happy? A  person having 1000s of friends and lot many followers in Facebook yet going to cafeteria and drinking tea alone or a person( no matter whether he has got an account in Facebook or not)have couple of friends whose doors he can bang even at midnight and hangout with ?.

Newton’s third law says “To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction” and it’s true

Express yourself and see how the world receives you with an open heart. Every smile will reflect with another smile. Every tear will have many hands to wipe out. Anger will combat with giggles. Fairy tales would start again and will help the kids to dream. Motion of friendship will flow all around and “You” will feel better living in that zone.

Wanted to relieve stress within few minutes without meditating or taking pills? Here you are…

Lot many times you find yourself stress encircling you and want to get rid of it. Then you are showered with advices to meditate, workout and lot more. These are correct options but will take time to heal you.

And we lazy bugs want everything instantly, we are more happy with instant noodles than healthy food.

Therefore for instant relief try to talk to people around you, share your problem (it doesn’t mean you should broadcast it) with people whom you trust, with whom you are comfortable. They may not have a solution for your issue but by sharing your load you will feel a lot lighter.

Startup to express and explore

Express what you feel. When you are happy smile. If you want to laugh, then laugh out loud. When you are sad and want to cry then let the tears flow out. There is nothing wrong in expressing what you feel. Do not try to stamp hard on the feelings and control yourselves by concealing them rather conceive them as much as you can. This will solve 90 percent of the problems.

Now you may be thinking why I am nagging with this piece of writing when everything what i mentioned is known to you. Correct!!.. We know everything, Modi government need not to bring “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” and make necessary expenditures in advertisements and build infrastructure for the same. Because we all have learnt in our primary classes that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” and we should keep our surrounding’s clean. Guess what we have written essays on cleanliness when we are kids and got good grades for our 300-400 words. But do we really practice it? We don’t even try to follow even though the Government is shouting aloud. We hear it though one ear and pass it through the other because we feel that we know it and don’t want to hear what we know. I hope by now am clear to you that am just here to remind what we know and ignore to practice.

Explore your soul within and try to satisfy it first.

After my graduation I read a short story which made me think “Happiness lies within ourselves”.

Once upon a time there lived a very strong wood cutter asked a job to a timber merchant and he got it. The pay was really good and so was the working condition. For these reasons, the woodcutter was determined to do his best. His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he supposed to work. The first day the woodcutter brought 18 trees. “Congratulations.” the boss said” Go on that way”. Very motivated by the boss words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day but he could only bring 18 trees. The third day he tried even harder but he could only bring 10 trees. But after day he was bringing less and less trees “I must be losing my strength” the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on. ”When was the last time you have sharpen your axe? “His boss asked him. “Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy in cutting my trees…”

Our lives are like that. We sometimes get so busy that we don’t take time to sharpen our “axe”. In process of reaching the throne of success we sweat a lot, but forget to take time to sharpen ourselves which rather makes us dull and inefficient.

Some people are dead now, but are buried physically after 30 -40 years

Why is that? Could it be we have forgotten to stay “Happy”. There is nothing wrong in doing hard work. But mere “Hard work” brings you nothing. Take time to Play, have fun and engage with yourselves. Revisit your buried “Hobbies”, Take them out of the coffin and embrace them with smile. This would make you happy deep within and once you are happy no Storm could break you.

“If not now then it’s never” Let’s pull our socks and “Startup to express and explore” and live in the Beautiful world to the fullest.

Food as a Cultural Symbol in India

Gujarati Thali

You are what you eat

One has heard this saying at least once in a lifetime. Conventionally, one may relate this quote to the build and temperament of a person. And it isn’t even wrong to see it that way but the quote means more than what it says on the surface.

Food and culture

Food has a dialectical relationship with our culture, which consists of customs, rituals, faith, beliefs, values, literature and what not. The Indian society provides the best picture of the myriad cases where relations between the two are strong in almost every sphere of life.

Caste and Commensality

Taking for instance, the staple of every sociologist in India—the caste system, the practice of commensality within the caste is in the common knowledge of the staunch practitioners. The system prescribes stringent rules regarding food sharing. It is usually seen that the ‘upper caste’ did not eat with or share food with the ‘lower caste’, for this could ‘pollute’ them. The practice still prevails in many parts of India either implictly or explicitly.

Caste is not just about commensality but also about what to eat and what not to eat. For example, the shastras prescribe non-vegetarian food for the Kshatriyas and vegetarianism for the Brahmins. A general explaination given here is that the Kshatriyas were required to physically drain themselves in the battle field, while the Brahmins were required to perform tranquil ritualistic tasks. Both of these required food stimulating different forms of energies and temperament. Even though the occupational sphere for a caste has expanded in many cases, the traditional eating habits continue to persist.

Faith and Food

foodA similar scenario could be witnessed in case of faith and food. When it comes to religion, there are always ideas regarding the sacred and the profane. What may be sacred in one religion may not be in another. What could be a better specimen in this context than the beef ban? It is exemplary of how a gastronomic preferences may lead to communal conflicts in society. The question of pseudo-secularism also arises here.

While talking about religion and food, we must not ignore the fact that there practices such as langars held at Gurudwaras which promote egalitarianism. People, irrespective of their caste, class, gender, religion etc. sit and eat together. Not only that, anyone can volunteer in preparing and serving the food and the food served is usually something which is acceptable by all religions. There are similar practices of mass feeding in other religions as well but most of them are either not on a regular basis or are only for the purpose of feeding the poor.

Food is integral to religious celebrations and ceremonies. Be it gorging on sewai and biryani on Eid or fiesting on sweet delicacies on Diwali. Where on one hand religion provides a myriad reasons to worship one’s tummy, on the other hand it also prescribes rules to abstain its followers from eating certain kind of foods or not eating altogether on certain occasions. This practice is known as fasting.

Food in Corporate Culture

Food is undoubtedly an agent which serves the purpose of strengthening the bond between employees and fostering team spirit among the members. Team lunches and team dinners are an interesting way to do so. Many restraunts are being set near business parks and corporate zones to cater the needs of people coming from diverse backgrounds. Restaurants located near BPOs regulate their opening and closing hours accordingly.

These are only some of the many facets of the relationship between food and culture in India. And there is no end to what one can relate the food. So the next time when you have your platter before you, think deeply!

ENVY, the smallest this word is, the biggest role it plays.

0
envy

It’s a human trait. Envy means to have a quality, possession, other desirable thing belonging to someone else . A person aspires to become like the other person. Envy is not something genetic or inherited from our forefathers. It’s something which we acquire from life. It’s a temporary factor but can become permanent factor in one’s life as depends on an individual will. It’s sometime makes a man or destroys a man. It’s not a simple word with simple meaning but much more beyond that.

envy_quoteEnvy can be of two types. It can be a positive envy, where one person gets inspiration to become a successful man like the other person. It can also be a negative envy, where one person gets the inspiration to destroy that another man.

envyLet’s start with a positive envy, where a person never feel upset in seeing another man’s  success. Infact, he observes that person’s actions, reaction, his way of dealing with every difficult situation. Then, he prepares himself to follow those footsteps and listen to his heart. In this manner one can achieve any ladder of success in life. A person, who always learns something or the other from his friends, relatives and cousins never leads to failure in life. He gets inspired instead and he carries off that inspiration with his courage and hard work. Later, he becomes an ENVY of himself and get inspired from within. He creates a new chapter everyday in his life by taking envy with a optimistic view.

Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.
Buddha

Now, the negative aspect of ENVY. It’s a feeling of resentful longing aroused by someone else’s qualities or luck. Person cannot think that a word, which illumines one’s life with light can also darken his life also. This envy deals with evilness, resentment, bitterness one feels by seeing another’s possessions. This envy destroys relationships. It create a void between people. It just take away the optimism a person have ever. It sucks person from within. A person gets lost in seeing other person failure in life.

jealousy-sayingsA friendship between two people can also become a victim of this envy. It just makes you forgets the self of yours and starts making you other of yourself. It kills a person from side. Envy replaces the feeling of love, compassion and generosity. A person wears a mask of being good but inside that mask he already becomes a an envious person. Nowadays, people are dying more of this envy than of cancer.

We should give this envy a new positive meaning. Where people learn something from one another and reach to the peak in their respective life.

Renting a womb A legal analysis

0
surrogacy

It’s about time they stopped its misuse. The Indian Council of Medical Research’s national guidelines 2005 (for accreditation, supervision and regulation of ART clinics) in India for surrogacy and other ART procedures are not legally-binding, so unscrupulous people did what they wanted”

-NB Sarojini, (director of Sama Resource Group on Women and Health, an NGO)

Meaning of the term Surrogacy

Surrogacy can be defined as the process by which a woman carrying a pregnancy gives birth to a child for another. This arrangement can be either voluntary or gratuitous, as well as,
paid as any commercial transaction according to the agreement between the
commissioning couple and the woman who agrees to bear the child.

Status of Surrogacy laws before the coming of the Draft Surrogacy Regulation Bill, 2016

Prior to the conception of the aforementioned bill, the condition of surrogate mothers was pitiable. The target being the rural women, who were allured by the glimpse of financial rewards for delivering a child for the childless couples. With the inception of this new law however, attempt has been made for curbing the renting of womb’s at the same time promoting altruistic surrogacy, empowering women for the first time to vouch for their choice in opting for surrogacy or not.

Introduction to the Draft Surrogacy Regulation Bill, 2016

The Union cabinet recently cleared the draft surrogacy regulation bill, 2016, that aims to ban all commercial surrogacy, which many say leads to the exploitation of the poor women of our society who agree to become surrogate mothers for some amount of money. The law also further goes on to ban unmarried people, live-in couples and gay couples from opting for altruistic surrogacy.

The couples, especially the foreigners, who are desperate for a biological child, and infertility experts who are losing business to other countries like Ukraine and Georgia where commercial surrogacy is legal, are expectedly against this new step by the legislature, but independent experts proclaim that a stringent law in this unregulated sector was long overdue. It could serve as the change that Indian surrogacy laws required from a long period of time

The notion of commercial surrogacy is banned in most developed countries, including Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Japan and Thailand among others. India however has no law regulating surrogacy and the bill took many dimensions, with the government finally for the first time separating surrogacy from the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (Regulation) Bill in 2016.

The Rental status of a womb

There are about more than 50 million infertile couples in the world, and some of them head to countries like India and Thailand to rent wombs. It has turned the two countries into the world’s biggest hubs for commercial surrogacy over the past decade.

This industry’s ugly underbelly hit the spotlight when an Australian couple abandoned one of their twins in Thailand in 2014 because he had the famous Down’s syndrome, which led the country to ban the concept of commercial surrogacy in February 2015.

India was already considering a ban when another couple from Australia went home in 2014 with just one of the twin because they wanted a girl, leaving their son behind in Delhi. This was something that was not only shocking for the country but also motivated the country to stop such inhuman behavior towards a child, who had no role to play in being a boy. This was no reason to abandon the child in the way the couple did.

Under India’s new bill, couples that are abandoning a baby, now risk a 10-year imprisonment and an Rs 10 lakh fine, or could be awarded both. It also makes it illegal for the doctors to do such procedures that hurt the surrogate mother and the baby’s physical and mental health.

The new law empowers women to go for altruistic surrogacy

The new bill allows women to go for altruistic surrogacy, where a woman can carry someone else’s child as long as no money (other than medical cost and insurance) is obtained, favors or coercion is involved, and it goes on to excludes those who rent their wombs for money.

“This is a loophole with potential for misuse and needs to be closely regulated. People can present commercial surrogates as altruistic volunteers and quietly pay them off,” Sarojini said.

The bill further goes on to bans a woman from being a surrogate for more than once in her lifetime.

“It is an excellent step as most surrogates have children of their own and the repeated pregnancies take a toll on women’s health,” Dr Manika Khanna of Delhi’s Gaudium IVF Centre that offers surrogacy almost exclusively to Indian couples said.

Under the provisions of the new law, only infertile Indian couples, who have been married for at least a period of five years can opt for surrogacy, but those who already have a child cannot do so.

Though India has made the first attempt to overhaul its surrogacy laws, yet room is left for more progress in the field as there is no permanent structure which has been proposed to be created in the Draft Bill. Also it’s interesting to note that there are proposals for creating new posts.

The proposed legislation, while covering an important area has been framed in such a manner that it ensures an effective regulation but does not on the other hand add much vertically to the current regulatory structure already in place at the central as well as state level.

A need for a more stringent punishment mechanism is required so that womb renting could be prohibited completely at the same time altruistic surrogacy could be encouraged. It should be a woman’s right to choose whether she wants to opt for surrogacy or not.

Financial benefits should not be the motivating factor here. Awareness about what surrogacy is, and what are its implications should also be catered too and last but not the least an effective implementation of the new bill is also to be proposed.
