sleep

There is nothing like getting a good night sleep. Waking up refreshed, energized, and be ready to take on the world is the ideal feelings that we all would love to have.

This challenge is that in our modern society, millions of peoples are suffering from sleeping deprived and chronically to the deleterious effects of having low quality sleep.

It may be creates a negative impact on the health at both physical and emotional level. Before getting to anything wrong here’s some solution of how you can solve sleeping disorders.

1. Know the value of sleep

This fact is a little unusual, but probably the most important. Many people are negligent about getting to enough sleeping because they truly don’t understand about the benefits they’re getting from it.

2. Get more sunlight during the day

One of the most important things that induce great sleep is your body’s natural secretion of the hormone called melatonin. Melatonin is produced through the pineal gland in your brain and sends the signal to regulate the sleep-wake cycle in to the body.

3. Avoid the screen

This is likely the thing you may do to improve your sleep timing immediately. The artificial blue colour produced through electronic screens into your body to produce mostly daytime hormones (like cortisol) and disturbed your body’s natural preparation for sleep.

Laptops, televisions, smartphones, etc are kicking out a sleep-sucking blue spectrum emitted of light that can give you major sleep problems.

4. Use high quality magnesium

Magnesium is the bonafide anti-stress mineral. It helps your body to optimize circulation and blood pressure, balanced blood sugar, relaxing tense muscles, reduce pain, and give calm to the nervous system. Yet, because it has so many functions, it’s also tends to get depleted from our bodies rather fast.

5. Have a high protein, low carb snack close to bed time

If you want to get truly silence and restless sleep, then one of the worst things you will do is eat just before bed. Give your body a solid 90 minutes before heading get to bed after eating. This is really true if you are eating carbs snacks because the inherent blood sugar spike will may be cause a sharp drop in blood sugar later and if you happen to be asleep when this hypoglycaemia can hits, it will likely wake you up and give you difficulties falling back to asleep.

If you feel this you can need to have something quickly before bed (again at least 90 minutes) then go with the high protein food. The amino acids in the protein food can actually add in getting a more beneficial to your sleep.

6. Get to bed at the right time

This is a key solution that, you can literally get amplified benefits of sleep by sleeping at the right time. It’s been shows that you get the most significant hormonal secretions and recovered by sleeping during 10 pm and 2 am. This is what this call Money Time.

You can get the most rejuvenating effects during that time, and any sleep that you can get in addition is a bonus for you. That’s based on the seemingly lost realization that we are a part of nature, and when the lights gone on the planet, that a time for us to turn down too.

7. Be early to rise

Naturally one of the best things you can do to improve your sleep is to get up early. This definitely goes back to the fact that humans have certain patterns of sleep and wakefulness that we only found a way to override those things.

An outsider’s look at Jayalalithaa-Queen to Amma

0
Jayalalithaa

In the Indian culture, it is a pretty conventional and deep rooted ethic to keep the stature of mother at par with that of the almighty. While it looks quite a cliché to those not really enlightened to this concept, it is something Indians take absolute pride about. Looking at this fact, one can easily understand the value of someone conferred the honorary stature of ‘AMMA’. While every mother deserves respect, the love and devotion that a mother to hundreds of thousands of people would garner is just hard to quantify.

Yes, it is an obituary to Jayalalithaa Jayaraman, the lady who rose from the alleys of film industry to the crown roads of Tamil Nadu and more importantly to the hearts of millions of people. Quite a lot is written about her in her hinterland but here’s how an outsider to Dravidian politics perceives her aura.

Early Life

Everybody knows about her being a film actress during her starting career. She worked in an array of around 140 films during her career of two decades. She acted in movies of various languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. She was discovered as an actress by the South Indian film legend Shivaji Ganeshan who was particularly impressed by her exemplary skills at Bharatnatyam.
She had an overly successful film career with almost all her movies being box office hits. She attained critical acclamation for her ease at essaying roles of varying genres from fantasy to mythology to social dramas. Her career saw her teaming up with legends like Shivajii Ganeshan, MG Ramachandran and Ravichandran. Her multi faceted acting talent got her applauds as well as a number of commercial awards.

Political initiation

pm-aspirant_0It is widely believed that she was brought into politics by the actor turned politician, MG Ramachandran (popularly called MGR). He found his own political party by the name of Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) after separating from DMK.
Jayalalithaa began her political stint by entering Rajya Sabha after being nominated from Tamil Nadu in 1984. Her association with MGR saw a rift when MGR was struggling through his health. Following his death, the party got divided in two factions; one was taken over by Janaki Ramachandran, his widow while another was led by Jayalalithaa. She was declared as the political heir of MGR’s legacy and contested the assembly polls in 1989 and rose up to the stature of the first women to be elected Leader of Opposition. Later that year, both the factions of ADMK re-merged and Jayalalithaa was unanimously elected as the leader of the party.

Rise of Jayalalithaa

jayalalithaa-ptiOn 25 March 1989, an incident that is deemed as one of the most shameful show of behavior by the elected members of the community shook the political arena. This was the day which saw the elected members of Tamil Nadu assembly getting in violent tussle on the house floor. This rowdy interaction between the members of the ruling and the opposition leaders took an extremely shameful turn when Jayalalithaa was visibly attacked and molested right on the floor of the house. As images of Jayalalithaa leaving the assembly with torn sari came into circulation, the dawn of the era of Jayalalithaa also came into being.
Jayalalithaa was able to steer her party towards an assembly election victory in 1991. After that term, she took the office on more than three occasions ruling for around 15 years in the stead of chief minister.

Controversies around her

Her political stint wasn’t devoid of controversies. Right after her first term as chief minister, she and her ministers were blamed of having done heavy corruption. She was even arrested in lieu of the various cases filed against her in DMK government. Throughout her career she was constantly attacked for establishing herself as a brand. Her brand politics has invited a lot of ire from the opposed spheres of politics.
Later in her career, allegations of having disproportionate assets surfaced with prominence. In September, 2014 she was sentenced to serve a four year jail term and 100 crore fine in a case filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy. She was hence disqualified from the post of chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Her sentence was later suspended by Supreme Court and she came back to reclaim her chief ministerial post.

AMMA

She was known as one of the strongest leader ever in Dravidian politics. She successfully entered the previously male dominated Dravidian politics and later aced it. Her decisions of providing incentives to the people of the state are often considered too populist but still it made her a place in the people’s hearts for sure.

Cradle baby scheme’ launched by her during her first term asked parents unwilling to raise baby daughters silently into the cradles setup by the state government. These girl children were raised on state expenditure. This was by far one of the boldest move towards curbing female infanticide and foeticide in a nation struggling with unbalanced sex ratio.

Her plans of distributing items like food processors, milk cattle, laptops and other items of usage to the people of state gained her immense popularity. Items like packaged water, food and salt was circulated under ‘AMMA’ brand and eased pressure on poor. The canteens set up by state were a relief to the people. Her policy of market intervention at the times of price hikes ensured the prices being in control. Even when the prices throughout the nation burdened other states, people of Tamil Nadu were comfortably having their meals in the canteens.

Her legacy

Sasikala Natarajan, left standing, a close friend of India’s Tamil Nadu state former Chief Minister Jayaram Jayalalithaa, wipes her tears next to Jayalalithaa’s body wrapped in the national flag and kept for public viewing outside an auditorium in Chennai, India, Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016. Jayalalithaa, the hugely popular south Indian actress who later turned to politics and became the highest elected official in the state of Tamil Nadu, died Monday. She was 68. (AP Photo/Aijaz Rahi)

While her soul has combined with the almighty, her legacy still stands upright; her legacy of placing people’s interests above any political pressures. She never twined under pressure and made sure that her policies were in sync with people’s interest.
The place she has gained in people’s hearts is just irreplaceable. Let’s hope her soul finds rest after toiling so hard during her lifetime. May the people grieved by her loss have the courage to handle their grief!
RIP AMMA

Hollywood Movies That Were Inspired From Bollywood !

Well, the title might sound a bit weird, for the fact that usually the reverse is true. There are plenty of movies which originate in Hollywood and some Bollywood movies would be a remake or a loosely inspired version of it. If that’s the case folks, then we surely have a reason or two to be proud of. There are reverse equivalents too. The following are a list of such Bollywood films and their corresponding Hollywood remakes or inspirations.

1) Hindi film: Sangam (1964)

    English equivalent: Pearl Harbour (2001)

Hollywood Movies That Were Inspired From Bollywood !Hollywood Movies That Were Inspired From Bollywood !

Who can’t remember the 1964 blockbuster, Sangam, directed and produced by Raj Kapoor, and is considered as a magnum opus of the legendary actor. It has one of the most interesting love triangle among the lead actors. The 2001 film, Pearl Harbour, was more focussing on the romantic triangle among the leads rather than the tragedy which was meant to be the central plot of the film. And the film sounded to be very much resembling the 1964 Bollywood film. Perhaps the fact that both the leads in the latter are pilots, whereas in the former, only one of the lead is a pilot.

2) Hindi film: Chhoti Si Baat (1975)

    English equivalent: Hitch (2005)

Although many claim, the 2007 Hindi film, Partner, featuring Salman Khan is a copy of Hitch, few are aware of the fact that Hitch itself is loosely inspired from a Bollywood film.

We Indians know him as the actor who portrayed the lead role of Mahatma Gandhi in the Richard Attenborough’s biographical drama “Gandhi “.

Indian women are the shining beacons of hope and have displayed exemplary dedication in their individual fields. Though they have been perceived by the world as the quiet, docile kind of women, with long hair, clad in a sari with countless gold jewellery, who prefer to be inside the house, and enjoy taking care of their families. But, in each generation, some woman or the other have continuously broken the stereotypes, and proved them to be robust, independent and multi-faceted.

“It is each seafarer’s and Master’s solemn duty and obligation to save lives in distress. I simply did what a mariner ought to do for a fellow soul in distress at sea. Yes, it had been an immediate call; however, not while not assessing the risks concerned. I simply did my duty,” aforesaid Captain Radhika Menon, Master of the oil merchandise tanker Sampurna Swarajya.

Captain Menon was nominated for the award by the Indian government, for her great determination and bravery in leading the troublesome rescue operation to save all seven fishermen from the fishing boat Durgamma. The boat was adrift following breakdown and loss of anchor in stormy weather. Food and water had been washed away and that they were surviving on ice from the cold storage.

Through wave heights of quite twenty five feet, winds of quite sixty knots and serious rain, on 22 June2015, the second officer on the Sampurna Swarajya noticed the boat 0.5 kilometers away, off the coast of Gopalpur, Orissa.

RADHIKA MENON - Breaking the stereotypes !
Captain Menon straight off ordered an operation, utilizing the ladder and with life jackets and buoys on standby. It took 3 arduous tries within the lashing wind and rain and serious swells, before all seven fishermen of different age groups were rescued safely. Their families lost all hopes to get their loved ones back and were heading for performing their funeral rites. However, due to the rescue, led by Captain Menon, they were reunited with their adored ones a few days later.

A small video featuring one of the rescued fisherman Dasari Danayya, speaking in his home city of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh was broadcasted during the award ceremony. Dasari, said that without Captain Menon, they’d not be alive. Madam appeared as a divinity, and saved our lives.

Captain Menon started her career as a radio officer then she progressed to a deck officer and later was appointed as Master of the Sampurna Swarajya.

Needless to mention, is there something that the ladies of this country cannot achieve?

Take a bow, ladies!

Variable definitions of nationalism

0
article BFDC

Nationalism is one of the most important requisites for any individual as it gives a sense of belonging to a person within the vast expanse of existence. It can be seen as a nobler version of the bonding one share within a family. While this is such an elaborate aspect, there are no definite definitions when it comes elaborating this expression. Everyone tries to put up a definition according to their own suitability and understanding which seems fair to the extent that it is an individual right but when it comes of juxtaposing the same ideology over others then the problems begin to arise.

There is a genuine characteristic in humans that they try to defend their own ideas, and when somebody tries to remold that frame then conflicts become non avoidable. Same is the case with nationalism; while some feel that it is utterly important to take out time to show your love for the nation time to time, some feel it unnecessary and flaunt. Both the thought processes are correct when seen through the glasses of the respective bearers and flawed when observed from the other.

The discussion on this topic has emerged out because of the recent compulsive orders from The Supreme Court of India of playing national anthem in movie theaters before movie screenings. While many are rejoicing at this development and are proclaiming it as a needed measure to keep the sanctity of the nation upright, many are calling it a not required and ill-advised decision which goes against the basic principles of liberty.

Let’s try to analyze both these point of views one by one.

The Rashtra-rakshak clan

It involves the people who have the belief that one needs to abide by every rule and regulation made in order to show their reverence to the nation regardless of anything. This is the group that comes all guns blazing when someone does or says something that can insult the national flag, song or any emblem, many a times without considering or even listening to the person in question. They demand apologies, pass judgments and are pretty quick at calling the person in question an Anti-National.

This is the band which is led by leaders who call upon movie bans and ask their followers to do anything and everything to the extent of moral policing to make sure that their own idea of nationalism is propagated and taken forward. They tend to pick up any means from processions to outright violence in order to achieve the objective.

While these seem quite nationalistic in the bird’s eye view but when one actually carefully analyses them then the actual motives usually seem political or personal gains.

The Samaj-seva gang

This is the group of people who see that everybody else’s liberty and rights is theirs to protect. Many a times they do mean well but quite a few times the cross the line of being a social activist and a social vigilante by intervening into the personal spaces of individuals. They often take sides of those who are alleged of crimes against the society on humanitarian grounds and are quite bent towards spreading their ideology of unhindered liberty and freedom.

While they seem to be well versed with idea of freedom of expression and speech, they tend to overstretch the same at times.

Alongside these two, coexists a third faction of people who are so busy in providing for their families and their loved ones that they don’t even care about any of the big stuff. This nameless faction is the largest in numbers but still has the minimum say in the decision making.

This nameless faction doesn’t care about the release of a movie or the abolition of a law but is worried about making sure its sustenance. So are they non-nationalist? The answer is a clear NO. This is the part of population that forms the major portion of the defense forces as well as the trading and scientific community. Their importance and input in the nation’s development is far more that the other two and yet they don’t care about being named.

The final thought is that though it s justified to have a customized approach towards nationalism in a personal context but forcing it on someone is something that should be avoided for peaceful coexistence.

Small act of kindness

Not every day we experience something vastly filled with respect, love and kindness. But when something like that happens to us, it changes our attitude and vision of life. Sometimes we don’t bother about our surroundings. We see but never notice other people’s problem.

Can someone actually have kindness in what we call ‘today’s busy world’? Can it really happen? I didn’t give much thought to these questions until recently when something happened that made me clear about the existence of people with good intentions without expecting anything in return. Kindness doesn’t relate itself with money. It doesn’t matter what the financial condition of a person is but the heart is all that matters when it’s in the right place. Instead of expecting anything in return, we must make our best possible efforts to support others.

God exists within us.

God indeed helps those who help themselves. We just need to be strong to accept the situation to tackle with it. Rest should be assured to God. A way for the problem will come around. And this may happen in a form of human being.

Few days ago, I was seriously ill and hospitalised. I was very weak to eat or even talk. I stayed in the bed all day not knowing everything around me. There was a woman who worked in that hospital. She used to clean the floors in the morning and evening; attended to the nurses asking if there was anything to do like giving medicine to the patients etc.; took patients on the wheelchair to the required place; brought the medicines from the pharmacy when asked.

I saw her many times passing in front of my ward and she noticed me too. She came to my ward too bringing medicines and the room cleaning process. Every time she smiled at me as to tell me to hold on. She took me to the pathology lab on the wheelchair as I was very weak to walk on my own. She cared for everyone and talked nicely with everybody, listened carefully to what anybody wants. It became her habit to check on me many times and tell me every time that I’ll get better very soon.

Sense of responsibilty.

One time, I was having some problem so my brother went to the doctor to report it. But there were so many people over there and there was no orderly line in which they were moving. Everyone was standing haphazardly and pushing each other to move forward. It was difficult to see the doctor. Then she was the one who helped. She took my prescription form and making her way went inside to report to the doctor. She even brought the medicines too afterwards. We asked how she did all this. She replied that if she comes across any emergency case, she definitely steps up and since she works there, she’s able to go inside.

That was something to think about. Without knowing anybody, if somebody helps them in their urgent need, that’s definitely a quality to adopt.

Sometimes it seems like God tests the patience of a good person too.

One day in the morning, at the time of her arrival to the hospital I saw her worriedly walking here and there looking disturbed. She was constantly going to the common room. I didn’t get the reason behind her distress. Then I didn’t see her for some time until in the noon when she came to my ward bringing my medicines. That’s when she told my parents that her little son also got ill. She didn’t have any money to treat him and the doctors were refusing to provide any medication to the little boy without the payment. So she gaged her girl’s anklets in order to get money to treat his son.

Listening to this, I instantly felt enraged and shocked as how can any doctor deny treating a patient. Even not to provide him anything just to control it, let alone treat it.  My parents also felt the same way. I was very disappointed and wondered how can something bad happen to a genuinely good person who cared for everyone else and did everything to help them.

We asked her about her son’s condition which was fine then. There was no serious illness but at the moment he needed something just to lessen his pain which he got only after she, in spite of working there, arranged for the money with so much difficulty. She told us that she was not on the permanent job there, instead she was recruited temporarily. But even then, she was working there for so long time. That should have been in the doctor’s mind, if not the pain of a person.

My father gave her money to properly treat her son and then gave her some extra money too. She was so overwhelmed that she cried. But still the main thing that I noticed was that in that crying also she was so strong and firm and controlled. She thanked my parents many times and smiled at me and gave me blessings to get well soon.

I didn’t do anything in that matter; I was not the one who had so much difficulty in my life; It was not me to give her any money. I simply lied there in my ward. But the moment she touched my forehead and blessed me, I was so moved. It was a completely inexplicable feeling.

The greatness of being human is having humanity.

She was a strong woman who instead of getting little money due to being on a temporary job, and her husband working in some factory also getting less money, was responsible enough to fulfil her duties. Her son was ill, she went through so much stress, and her little girl’s anklet was on gage but nothing stopped her from doing her job. She was here to help the people again. Her job was to help the people. And there’s no denying in the FACT that she is best in what she does.

It was my honor to get to know a wonderful woman full of kindness from whom I learned a lot. And it has become a new thing for me since then to try and implement her qualities in me; so that I am able to help someone someday.
