CHARMINAR

The thing about people who love their cities in which they are born is that all the while they keep trying to move out but the moment they do, the pine to get back. They feel a sudden overwhelming rush of sensations which becomes too hard to handle, somewhat similar to the feeling when you see a big tree swaying vigorously from side to side in a deadly storm. I am born and brought up in Kolkata. My extent of living in other cites goes up to spending two weeks at my maternal uncle’s house in Pune but now I know something about myself. My city lives within me more than I could ever anticipate and there is no getting out.

The day I boarded the train to Secunderabad preparing myself to go through with a rigorous journey of twenty six hours, little had I known that life has its own curious ways of sorting things out, it just needs the right moment and situation. I have been having this thought that maybe, its time for me to step out beyond the securities of my home and my family and hence I decided to appear for an exam at a reputed university in Hyderabad. I will be honest, all I had in my mind was a futile hope for a miracle that I get chosen when in fact I had zero preparation. My sole idea was to experience this historical city that I have read so much about, just undergo a change. Secunderabad had me awestruck, its broadly stretched roads, well maintained traffic, law abiding people all of it gave me an eerie feeling of discomfort. By that time I had already started to miss the easy going nature of Kolkata. It was a Sunday and there was not a single young face in the neighborhood where I was staying just casually taking a stroll or enjoying themselves over a late evening brew. I know I am being somewhat irrational taking into consideration those points which mean nothing or matter very little and will be otherwise considered ways of degeneration for a metropolitan but I really am not looking for justification here. One thing that I inherited from Kolkata is to feel good about myself without other’s consent. Hyderabad was turning out to be too good for me, I found myself staring blankly at the roads below out of my hotel’s room while a ticking clock kept notifying me of an impending disaster I know not what. I felt like a misfit, I was unable to keep up with the speed and I had to get back my sanity.

chairminnar

“no one will be willing to go madam, old Hyderabad so late at night” the words of my hotel’s manager left me crestfallen. I guess he sensed my turmoil and the nest thing I heard from him was, “I could ask my personal driver to take you if you want, just for an hour”. All of a sudden a found a little piece of Kolkata in that lounge of my hotel. As I stood speechless in front of him he smiled at me and said, “ye sahar bura nahi hain madam, kho hui cheez mil jati hain agar dhundna chaho toh”. These were the exact words I once used to describe Kolkata to a friend of mine who had come from the United States and now, this insignificant manager of an insignificant hotel were using them to make me feel at home. Later that night I found myself standing in front of Charminar, that clock on it displayed ten minutes to twelve. It felt good. The man who drove me there, Nazeer, asked me why did I want to visit it so late. My explanation to him was, “I am stuck in between my past and future nazeer bhai, I need to embrace my present for a moment here”. That night time stood still in front of that huge building, for a while I forgot the wheezing traffic or the shouts of the people around, the surrounding became a blur. I was taken back to that time of Quli Qutub Shah and with my eyes closed I observed the building grow in front of me, workers intricately designing and working their marvels upon the stones. I wondered was it possible that maybe, while inspecting the work in progress, the great ruler contemplated the idea that one day, centuries later his beloved minar was going to save a lost soul. There was a man with a cart in front of me selling some sweets. There were gulabjamuns and some other things I don’t remember the names now.

He handed over a plate to me full of sweets without me asking and he smiled at me. As I tasted the cream of the gulabjamun melt in my mouth, my heart was filled with a sensation sweeter” than all the desserts of the world put together. “where are you from didi?” “Kolkata”. “you are bangali??” “you too?” “my family lives in Barasat. I have been staying here for the last five years now. This city gets to you doesn’t it, just allow it some time to settle”. His words came flying at me as the police carrived with the gong of twelve and urging the people to wrap up their businesses and as I saw him walk away with his little cart and a little of Kolkata, home, that he left for me.

Ayurveda- The harmony of body, mind and soul.

The modern age that we strive in portrays a lifestyle where all our day to day tasks have been made extremely easy for man, with all the gadgets and machines equipped which were previously not known at all. On the contrary, we can say that all these gadgets have made lives complicated and competitive. We find ourselves under stress that hasn’t been experienced in the yesteryears, because with all these technologies available, world expects a lot more from him. These leads to family breakup and disease ridden children, and all this is increasing due to aggressiveness and tension. In this race of life, each one tends to cater his own needs causing a vicious circle of pressure and strain.

The origin of Ayurveda, was marked more than 5000 years ago, and to our surprise it is one of the very few things that are still as important as they were 100 decades ago, or we can say it holds more importance now. Its use adds a holistic approach to our lives.

The Ayurveda schedule, inculcates a sense of peace, and unity in one’s life. These ‘dincharya’ are meant to enhance both mental and physical health of man. These have no side-effects and are effortless to follow.

  • Nails and hair should be kept trimmed and clean.
  • All meals should be taken on time. Natural food items are the best.
  • Clothes should be changed daily, and one should prefer clothes made of cotton and natural fibers.
  • Light exercise to keep the body resilient and improve the circulation of blood. A brisk walk of 20 minutes daily is required. This will not only make the person mentally relaxed but active and alert also.
  • A regular massage of the body with herbal oils, enrich the effect of exercise and make the body suppler.
  • Ayurveda also helps in rapidly removing toxins and helps recover more quickly.

For any traditional science in India, two types history exist: Mythological history and Factorial History. Mythological history played a big role in keeping the scientific heritage. At the same time, Ayurveda is based on factorial history a lot.

THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES ON WHICH AYURVEDA IS BASED:
It is a very simple science, and it’s fundamental principles are all related to nature. Above all, we are all parts of nature. We are created by nature, nurtured by nature and taken by nature. Every vital breath, conconsciousness are given by nature. An individual life and nature are the same. If this principle is clear then how Ayurveda works is also clear. For human body, mind, and spirit, all the supplementation and solutions are available in nature. Understanding it, everyone can make the use of natural resources to find his or her own balance and to enhance life.

Acer, the famous Taiwanese electronics and hardware MNC, released in March 2015 the largest Chromebook ever, offering a bigger and better Chrome OS experience at an affordable price of around 250 or 350 dollars.

The first Chromebook to boast of a 15.6-inch Full HD display with its wide-viewing-angle technology and an anti-glare coating, Chromebook 15 enables you to watch movies and videos on a large clear screen. Larger and thicker than other similar devices such as the 13-inch Samsung Chromebook 2, the 13-inch Toshiba Chromebook 2, and the 14-inch HP Chromebook 14, Acer’s Chromebook 15 weighs 4.4 pounds, making it relatively heavy as well. The system comes in either white, making it look sleek, or black.

The most remarkable feature of Chromebook 15 is its sound system. Your room resonates with sounds produced by the two full-sized speakers facing upwards, and you don’t even have to struggle to hear a whisper!

A depth of 1.3 mm makes the Chromebook 15’s black island-style keys comfortable for typing on. You can find function keys like forward, back, brightness, refresh, power, full screen and volume on the top row of the keyboard, just like on any other Chromebook. Below the keyboard sits an accurate 4.2×3-inch touchpad, the biggest in any Chromebook, enabling three-finger swiping and two-finger scrolling on the desktop, as well as effortless clicking, zooming and pinching.

A well-performing built-in webcam is perched above the display screen. Supporting High Dynamic Range imaging, this 720p webcam offers you high-quality video calls with clear pictures. A USB 2.0 port and an SD card reader sit on the right side of the Chromebook 15 with a Kensington lock slot, while its left side is lined with a headphone or micro compo port, HDMI and USB 3.0_ a whole line-up of options for connectivity!

Besides Google Apps available on the web, including Gmail, Google Drive, Web Store, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Play, Docs and Chrome, the Chromebook 15 features specific Chromebook tools, such as Files, Settings, System and Camera. You can also avail a few apps that work offline, such as Google Docs, Evernote, Angry Birds, and Sunrise Calendar.

With its 1.6-GHz dual-core Intel Celeron 3205U CPU, Acer’s Chromebook 15 takes only 5.3 to 7 seconds to boot to Chrome OS! Furthermore, its MIMO 2×2 802.11 ac wireless technology allows you to enjoy a wireless internet performance three times faster than that of the HP Chromebook 14, the Samsung Chromebook 2, and the Toshiba Chromebook 2. Chromebook 15 also beats earlier generations of devices hollow with a 16GB or 32GB SSD, 2GB or 4GB RAM, and a four-cell 48-Whr battery lasting the whole day. An international one-year limited warranty is offered to you by Acer on the Chromebook 15.

Despite sporting a large display, the image quality of Chromebook 15 may be found to be declining gradually, and you’re left wishing for a more vibrant and colorful screen. Nevertheless, with its huge display screen, loud speakers, speedy performance and long-lasting battery, Acer’s pretty sturdy Chromebook 15 is certainly worth a buy!

Yes! the future of sim is here. With the new Jio Sim, Reliance has provided a major breakthrough to this technological era. The most trending and exciting grab is gaining heights, as Reliance is introducing its new sim with more thrilling offers.

reliance_jio_in_useAt first, the sim was available only for the Reliance users and later with Reliance’s own Lyf products. Reliance then extended its services to few particular Samsung and LG smartphones, but with the rise in demands, Reliance was not able to hold its product and finally now its available for everyone with few exceptions. As confirmed by Gadget 360, now owners of any 4G smartphones can walk into Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini and get their hands on the new Reliance Jio with its exciting Preview Offers which gives three months of unlimited data, calling, SMS and of course access to Reliance Jio Services JioOnDemand.relieance-lyf-earth-front-759

Although the Sim is not available in all the Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini Outlets, few of them are at discretion to offer the sim for free as there has been no official directive from Reliance Jio with respect to the same. As said by the Gadget 360, that if-if few stores deny of not providing the sim on the basis of not-Lyf, non-LG or non-Samsung issues then one can hunt for the other outlets.

Recent updates show that while the LG or Samsung users need to provide a QR code to avail the sim through My Jio App, other 4G users are spared of this need without worrying about the QR Codes. One just needs to produce the KYC documents to avail the sim and the offer.

Reliance Jio which is currently testing its network is expected to do a commercial launch of its network in the coming months.

You can refer to Gadget for a detailed description on Jio. Here are the links:

COME-ON LET US BURST SOME MYTHS

breakfast

1. Eggs are bad for heart- Yes it is true that eggs contain substantial amount of cholesterol in their yolks and yes cholesterol is that fatty stuff which contributes to blockage of arteries that lead to heart attack, but labeling eggs as “not good for heart” is completely unjustified. Human body produces its own cholesterol. Eggs have small amount of saturated fat, a big egg contain about 1.5 grams of saturated fats which doesn’t greatly affect your blood stream. So ignoring egg from your diet is bad idea as they are rich source of 13 vitamins and minerals.

2. Carbohydrates makes you fat- There is nothing inherently fattening about carbohydrates. Carbohydrates is used by the body to form glucose which gives us the required energy. However if one type of carbohydrate is bad for us doesn’t means that we should cut carbohydrate from our diet. Instead carbohydrates contain less than half the calories of fat. If you just replace your diet of fatty food with unrefined carbohydrates you are likely to lose your caloric intake and reduce weight. It just not ends here only taking carbs will make your memory sharp, instead of gaining your weight it will help you to reduce weight. Eating breakfast which have “slow release” carbohydrate will help to burn fat.

3.Radiation from microwave damages the food– The microwaves, radio waves and energy waves that we receive are all the forms of radiation. So too, x-rays and gamma rays which may lead to health concern. But the microwaves use to cook food is numerous times weaker than x-rays and gamma rays, and moreover the heat produces inside the food when it cooked in microwaved is the heat which originate inside the food and not the microwaves from its own. It is often said that microwave zaps all the nutrients from the food but indeed it preserves the nutrient loss as it cooks quickly.

4. Raw fruits and vegetables are more nutritious than cooked one- The idea hears logical as it could make sense to eat raw fruit vegetables in its natural state, however this concept is half spit-roast. Raw food supporter says that heat demolish enzymes and makes them more easy to digest. While it’s true, cooking also breaks down fiber making the body process easier. Scientist have found in recent years that boosts level of some necessary compound in some fruits and vegetables. Cooking food makes a rigid cell walls which makes some nutrients easy to digest and absorb some nutrients in better way.

5. Coffee causes cancer- coffee is one of the essentials that is added up in someone’s breakfast. For coffee advocates it is hard to believe and listen against this highly stimulating beverage. In the late 1970’s researchers said that caffeine causes the growth of cyst in breast tissue which can cause breast cancer in women’s. However other scientist’s later researched and found this concept empty. Coffee lovers got some other reasons also to raise their cup as it is found that coffee helps to protect from other disease such as Parkinson’s and type 2 diabetes. Some people also believes that coffee leads to increase their blood pressure but instead it is found that coffee lovers did not have risk of high blood pressure and it also works as a stimulator.

6. Dark Bread is better than White– Dark bread have caramel coloring but be not better than white bread. If we look on the packet of bread we will see their words like “ whole grain” or “100percent whole wheat” that means it is made from unrefined wheat which means it has double fiber and is also have higher rate of potassium and magnesium.

The Special Fluid: Blood

0

This is no piece of fictional writing but for real, there is indeed a fluid that gives life, that can take away life, that can equally be a saviour too.

Going through the definitions of blood, dictionaries would describe it as the red liquid in the arteries and veins, circulating always within humans and animals. It makes up around eight percent of our body weight. It is the fluid that gives life.

One of my friends in Turkey sent me his younger brother’s picture. I told him that a cousin of mine looks similar to him. “He got Turkish blood too?”, he retorted.

To know what Turkish blood was or rather what makes the blood Turkish, I searched the dictionaries again. When I looked for Turkish blood, the dictionaries we’re out of results, zero results for Indian blood, and no results for Chinese blood either.

The dictionary does not categorise the blood as Indian, Turkish or Chinese, and yet we do.

13322-discrimination-1344595035-230-640×480

There are numerous religious beliefs based on blood. I once told my grandmother that I will adopt a child when I earn fine. “You don’t know the child’s blood, he may be a terrorist when he grows up”. This was all she had to say to me. If the presence of blood can teach the child terrorism, then even my own child is fully capable of being a terrorist too.

gay-blood-ban

Blood is a special fluid which gives us life. However, the significance that we attach to it to modify nationality and race, is very strange. When people of the “same” blood marry, they are capable of furthering the growth of human generation. When people of a “different” blood marry, they are equally capable of reproducing, but the outcome here is a beast. Are we still talking about the same fluid that gives life?

Blood is that fluid which gives us life and yet one can see so many killings in the name of blood.

Greed_by_Liol

Plants have no blood, surprisingly, but they provide fruits and vegetables to nourish all finely. I never saw plants labeling their fruits for animals or humans or for a particular animal or human. The nature is very innocent and more sensible with the absence of blood in it. The mother Earth itself has no blood in it, yet it shelters us all. And we think multiple times before helping anybody if the blood is “different”, forget about sheltering.

mother-earth

The blood has always been the same. Our mindset has changed considerably. The Earth is meant for all to stay. When the nature itself doesn’t differentiate the humans, then why must humans categorize everybody? We all belong to the human race, hence, we are one. The human nature is certainly not as great as the nature.

399792517_2587495796_o

Brothers and sisters have “same” blood. I wonder if this is a condition mandatory to care or love one another. Family is not just about a group of people sharing a common ancestry or being related by blood. People who love each other despite their differences form a family too.

The Special Fluid: BloodOne should donate blood and save lives but one should not take away lives in the name of blood.

The Power of Seduction

Women’s Bodies as Weapons

Do you really feel women are weak? Well, I do not feel so. If you say that women cannot hold guns then you are again mistaken. The body which you often objectify is not powerless rather it is a weapon which can make you do whatever they like. Women are really mysterious but they give men a space to breathe but that does  not mean that, they are fragile and too elegant. If women start identifying their elegance as their weapon then men will not be able to fight it. So men, stop talking and boasting about your practicality and rationality because women are enough powerful to use their seduction against you and that’s how they will actually act practical to make you feel low. So, men should better give women a fair space and chance to represent themselves. Do not use biology to tell that women are not sharp and intelligent as they are enough intelligent to break men down without giving them any explanation.

780795-lolina-green-niky-macabre-red-seduction-women

The ideology of seduction is not about being promiscuous. It is not about making love but it is about using the sense of making love as weapon. Men used biology and women’s bodies to describe what they can do then women are far better off than men to use their bodies against men and turn the theory in their favour. People talk about being equal but can equality be achieved without understanding about what others want? Probably, men do not know what women want. So, it would be better to have a dialogue in both public and private sphere. Equality should not remain a word any more which is being adjusted with the word gender. If you deny women their rights , they will not sit quietly inside rather, they will find a way out for themselves and they should find a way to come out and voice their opinions.
a8631790-f185-498a-8e7d-450a466acccd
Men should not assume that women cannot do anything. Rather, they should know the power of active and passive seduction which can be used against them ,applying their understanding of femininity. Yes! But men should not think that women are seductresses because they are the ones who are snatching away the rights of women. Women are forced to be dutiful in the name of relationship and women take responsibilities without having any kind of freedom. If women are ready to take responsibilities then they should be given the rights to be more responsible. No one knows what kind of assumptions do these ‘ manly rational minds ‘ make after thinking that they are enough good in business, mathematics, politics or science. Somehow, they try to prove that they are correct but sometimes their axioms or theorems are extremely stupid and they also apply their theorems in their social relationships, using their inductive reasoning, which may or may not be true.
Men should not forget that women too have their ideas and they are also living on this earth as humans even if they are not treated like one. Women should actively engage with men in various spheres to make sure that gender equality should be achieved, not only in dreams but in reality.
111333
The politics of body is a very complex theory. Just defining active or passive seduction will not be enough but no one should deny that women’s bodies are powerful and if men tend to repeat the same mistakes by objectifying their bodies then women should  definitely use active and passive seduction as their defence mechanism without giving any further explanations.

special features of Google Glasses

Google glasses are fit with voice modulating actions . This is for activation of your glasses . You just need to say out your command like “record video” , “take a picture” , or even “set my alarm” . Handy huh . We’ll not get into detail about its production as the user isn’t obviously interested in the hardware and software . But if you must know it has 2 GB ram and 16 GB internal memory . I bet that’s the features of the smartphone in your hand . It is a full pack combined with general necessities today’s kids want like wifi , Bluetooth , micro USB . That’s right you can operate these glasses with your laptops too.

Common mistakes we make while using English

0
English concept with smartphone
English concept with person holding a smartphone

Although English is just another language but it’s considered as one of the most beautiful and most spoken languages in the world and a single flaw can massacre its essence.
So here I present the common mistakes we make while using English.
1. Its vs it’s– There is a basic difference between the two. It’s is a substitute for ‘It is’ whereas its is used to denote something related to ‘it’.
For example:-
The machine is new but it’s defective.
The machine is new but its wires are defective.

its
2. There vs their– Again a pair of confused words. There is used to denote a place whereas their is used to denote anything related to someone or something.
For example:-
Mr. and Mrs. Aggarwal live there with their children.
3. Lose vs loose:- Though these words have similar pronunciation but their meanings are in no way related. Lose means when you no longer have something or someone. On the other hand, loose is the opposite of tight.
Example:- I might lose my job.
The dress she bought is very loose.

lose
4. Your vs you’re– The confusion is pretty similar to its vs it’s. You’re actually means you are and your indicates anything related to ‘you’.
Example:- You’re beautiful and so is your child.
5. Who’s vs whose– This is a very common mistake made by people as their meanings are almost the same. Basically, who’s stands for who is or who has whereas whose is a possessive pronoun.
Example:- Who is standing there?
Whose book is it?
6. Unsocial vs unsociable:- Although in the 19th century both these words were synonymous but with time their meanings have slightly changed. Unsocial is a temporary feeling of unwillingness to mingle with people whereas unsociable is a permanent character.
Example:- People these days are becoming unsocial.
Rikki’s unsociable nature made him unpopular.
7. Wrong way of introduction: Usually when we introduce ourselves we place our-self first but that is wrong. You should first mention the people associated with you and then take your name finally.
Example:- My family and I will attend the wedding. √
I and my family will attend the wedding. ×

intro
8. Revert vs reply: Nowadays our emails commonly end this way, “Kindly revert to our mail as soon as possible.” but this is wrong English. If you Google or check the dictionary, you will realize revert means going back. In no context, it is synonymous to reply.
Example:- Kindly reply as soon as possible.
I reverted to the previous homepage.

revert
9. Give exam vs take an exam:- It’s very funny that this is one of the most common mistakes which can be rectified using common sense. The one who will conduct the test is giving a test and the person who attempts it is taking the test.
Example:- The teacher will give a surprise test.
The students will take their half yearly exams today.
10. Unnecessary addition of preposition:- Words like discuss and return are not followed by prepositions.
Example:- I will return all your books.
We will discuss morphology of flowers today.
11. Then vs than:- Then is used to denote time. It is actually the past tense of now and than is used for comparison.
Example:- Then they had lunch.
I am smarter than my brother.

then
12. Prepone:– Though a lot of people will object when you will use the word prepone which means advancing things but don’t hesitate. You are right. Although the word prepone did not exist earlier but in 2011 it was added to the oxford dictionary.
13. May I vs Can I?– When you take permission, use the word may and when your inquiring whether you have the ability to do something, use the word can.
Example:- May I drink water?
Can I dance after the operation?
14. Did not do– After did not, never use past tense. You cannot place two words in past tense consecutively.
Example:- I did not bring my books. √
I did not brought my books. ×××

did not
15. On social media:– Yes you are on social media and not in it.
Example :- I am on Facebook. √√√
I am in Facebook ×××
