Hopelessness- A Deadly Symptom of Suicide

0
sad girl

Hope has always been a positive attribute. We all survive with a bundle of hopes- hope that we will achieve our goals, hope to be a good companion to our loved ones, hope that we keep each other happy, hope to gain identity in the society, hope to be happy and satisfied in life.  Have you ever wondered what would happen if this tiny element of hope turned us down?

“Why does everything go wrong only for me?”, “Things are never going to get better in my life”, “my relationship is never going to work out”, “everybody thinks I am a loser”, “there are no solutions to my problems”, “I’m good for nothing”, ”There Is no use in trying anymore”.

Does it sound familiar? There are the times when you feel like giving up; feel like quitting; or feel hopeless.

Hopelessness is a vicious circle that puts you down in the dumps. These negative thoughts make you feel helpless and make you give up on yourself. You put yourself into isolation and a state a state of powerlessness. In turn there is no effort taken for reward or recognition. Later you feel worried or rejected that there is nothing good happens in your life. And you feel hopeless again. It’s a diabolic trap which sucks all your efforts to even ‘try’.

Sad, GirlSeveral studies show that the feeling of hopelessness is a key aspect that leads to depression followed by Suicide. Yes Suicide! According to WHO, Every 40 seconds a life is lost through suicide in the world. And of all things that we can excel at, India hit one of the world’s highest rates of suicide among teenagers and older adults (WHO, 2012). Men and women are equally affected by suicidal thoughts. But it is a fact that though women have higher rates of suicide attempts (mostly passive means like using sleeping pills) men have high successful suicide attempts (mostly aggressive means like slitting the wrist).

Whatever the intention of the attempt may be the ultimate cause of the severe depression or suicide is hopelessness. One does not easily give way life unless they see a bleak future that isn’t worth living. So if you ever feel depressed or find a friend who is be sure to give immediate attention and take professional help.

Before things go out of hands there are certain simple things you can do to help yourself or others to make them feel better.

Talk to a friend:

Share how you feel to him/her. Let out you’re pent up worries. Cry it out to feel lighter. If you don’t want to disclose your thoughts to a known person then take professional help. There a many suicide prevention helplines from various organisations in India such as AASRA, One life, Sneha etc. that work 24×7.

(Suicide prevention helplines in India: http://indianexpress.com/article/trending/this-is-serious/list-of-suicide-helplines-in-india/)

Look at an old album:

Recollect a positive memory. Look how promising life was. And trust that it will be in the future too.  Embrace the love and affection you had then.

Believe in the people who are trying to help you:

In a deep state of hopelessness it is common to feel that nobody can set things right. It is hard to believe in yourself. But trust the people who are trying to help you.

Avoid isolation:

As much as you don’t want people around try to avoid staying alone. An idle mind is the devils workshop. You don’t want to give way for ideas.

Spend time with kids:

Kids are pure souls of joy. We can learn what life is from them than anyone else. They teach us to never give up; to embrace little things in life; and to smile.

Visit a Special school or Old age home:

This might not sound great but it is my personal recommendation. The love and care you receive by the beautiful souls is unmatchable. They all joined hands with a disability. But the amount of motivation they have to live is pure inspiration.

Think about the consequences:

Thinking about ending your life is one way selfish. Think about all the other people around you who will be affected by your loss. If you understand how devastated the situation would turn, you will find a reason to live.

Suicide is not symbol of the weak. It is just a momentary emotional outburst and hasty decision making.  It can happen to anyone. At the time of need only you can help yourself. As much as you wish for things to change understand that it is not possible without any effort from your side. Take professional help and regain your ‘Hope’ to live life to the fullest.

Lifestyle and culture

FASHION

CULTURE & FASHION GOES HAND IN HAND

For each and every  who works in and around this  fashion world, it is momentous to be able to avow and to see convivial and cultural motion,  in order to perceive the fashion environment and to be adroit to act in the  aberration in assiduity  which the  fashion aberration will persuade. Being able to antidate what will betide in the nearest futurity is what puts a fashion designer, a huckster or a fashion buyer in the thesis to make better firmness in their drudge. And in this, fashion is not at all a segregate assiduity but is associated to the remnant of our spirit. Fashion stretches beyond garments and into the mode we prefer to subsist our lives. Lifestyle is how we correspond, how we ramble, how we embellish our abode, how we consume and how we dress.

fashion-cultureLifestyle and trends are strongly impel by social-cultural alterations, such as modernization, technological change and also by masterly  motion. Trend resolution looks at the interaction of shifts in fashion, consumer lifestyle and culture and is a skeleton for intellect and expound fashion alterations. It is significant to accomplish is, that trends are made by community, who on distinct levels procure involved with distict artistic environments.

In order to apprehend a fashion trend, we need to be observant of what will encompass us in mete of our social-cultural mode of livlihood. The growth of fresh trends generally involves various sources, which influence our cultural live and lifestyle. These main sources are lofty culture, pop culture and low culture.

salwar-indian-suitLofty culture refers to elite agilities such as optical trade like painting and carving, other forms of art, such as music and art, but also employed art like photography, architecture and design. Art is a yield of human excercise, made with the purpose of instigating the human senses, as well as the human brains by carrying  emotions or concepts. In terms of fashion afflatus, these emotions and concepts can later endure a farther progress and tend to fresh cut of inspirations and concepts, in the sheath of a designer.

denim1Prevailing culture, or pop culture, is a cultural fragment, which is persued, understood and valued by a larger audience. Pop culture is highly influenced by celebrities and comprises the diurnal interactions and cultural ‘moments’ that forms the everyday lives of the mainstream. This culture is seen as a mercantile culture, mass-produced for mass destruction.

In the last years mass media has increased the exposition and power of celebrities.

LIFESTYLECelebrities are a kind of role models; their appearence are research and copied by a lot of people, which makes them very pleasing to fashion companies who try to spot their products on them. This year we heed a strong trend in replacing models by Hollywood stars in fashion advertising. Fashion brands want to employ the glam of bollywood actresses to cast that glam on their products and at the same time to exhibit that pleasure is doing well during this economic exigency.

The third culture level is the abject culture. It comprises topical street movements like Hip Hop or other clusters outside the mainstream. The sway of low culture to fashion can be clearly diocese from the 70ties to present day.  It may be rigid to remember certain styles as subcultures because their appearance is swiftly approved by mass culture for mercantile purposes.

To remark the road is of equivalent importance than to keep updated with fine arts and as well the pop culture.None of these three cultures lives in segregation and each may influence the growth of the other and even they sway the fashion environment development of trends.

Walking through the tastiest streets of Chennai

street food

There is no love sincerer than the love for food

This is one of the best and truest quotes which I found online. Food is something which is growing in its trend along with people. No one can deny the fact that it is the one and only thing on earth which makes people go crazy (people here are fooooodieees) and at the same time it makes the same man go satiated after his hunger is met. To be precise a man isn’t enough with whatever he has but food is the only thing which people say enough is enough whole heartedly.

Many cuisines may come and many cuisines may go but the love for street food from my city will always stay close to my heart.  Chennai is a city which has inhabited various people of different indigeneity.   So to treat everyone homogenously it offers various kinds of food with its own touch. Five star hotels just give us a splendid hospitality, amazing ambience, stomach filling food etc. But it fails to consummate our hearts though their bills would cause us to literally go wobbly.

BURMA BAZAR

Imagine a street full of food with the perfect touch and its own taste of gracefulness filled with love. Who would not like when sample of food is just given for you to taste for which they don’t expect money but your love in return. This is the people of Chennai for you.  Walk into the streets of Burma Bazar and you would forget the destination you are in with the best food which tickles your taste buds.  Their shutters open around 12 in the afternoon which goes down even till 12 in the night.

There are continuous rows of shops just opposite to one another mostly crowded with its daily set of customers. People who eat here are mostly the youths, the ones from the locality and the dudes who have got addicted to the taste. Beijo!! Atho!! Mohinga!! quarrels the shop keepers from each shops chorously.  Atho is a type of noodles which is made in a special type of garlic oil tossed with cabbage, tamarind pulp and finally topped with fried onions which is one famous Burmeese food.  This is served at a rate of just Rs.40 per plate which fills our tummy for a meal.

Mohinga is a soup where fried noodles is added and attracts many customers in rainy season as it gives a very refresting sting to them. Beijo is deep fried preparation which is made out of rice and Bengal gram and topped to mohinga. These foods may make anyone get addicted to them at the first attempt. You can go home satisfied with your heart and tummy full.

Plain lassi

SOWKARPET

Next best place for street food is Sowkarpet. One of the crowded places of North Chennai filled with indigenious Marwaris is the hot spot for some of the fantastic street foods of Mumbai and Delhi. Right from Pani puri to Lassi, you can get anything and everything here. This place is first specialized for its whole sale clothing shops which offers trendy clothings at really discounted price. Many small scale entreprueners head to this place which keeps it busy all day.

So after a tiresome day of shopping who wouldn’t love a chilled lassi from Agarwal Bhavan and a plate of delicious mixed chat from the roadside chaat wala who would give it to you at a really cheap price.  Why don’t you treat a poor chaat wala for a day rather than spending your money in a boring restaurant for the same boring food.  Even your stomach needs a break from the same monotonous food and craves for some variety.

Don’t forget to visit these tastiest streets in your trip to our Chennai. Mark these places in your itenary for tastiest streets . Though you aren’t served in an air conditioned four walled room in some of the best crockeries, but  served by the affection and love which automatically increases the taste of food.  So never miss out these places to have a heavenly gratitude of food and just food.

Top 10 actresses of Indian Television.

0
Indian Television

Kyunki,saans bhi kahbi bahu thi.

Kyunki, har Ghar ki Kahani Hoti hai.

Kyunki, har Babul ka sapna, beti ki bidai Hoti hai.

Okay, enough for the introduction. While Indian Television is every changing and oh so entertaining,it is, so, highly addictive, whether we like it or not.

And not only does the word “TV serial” provide an immediate sense of nostalgia and intrigue you of the same, household plots with a unique twist, but also highly infatuates you to watch the serial.

And get engrossed in it..and identify with the characters. In this case, for the majority of serial watchers which are the Indian females of all ages, will identify, obviously, with the main or semi main female characters of the serial.

Serials are so rightly feminist, and yet we complain?

Nevermind that.

So,the Indian housewife will identify with the” bahu” of the serial, while the daughter of the “beti”,and the grandmother with the “Saans”. And likewise.

For it is the actresses who are the, well, life of our beloved serials.

“Baa,bahu air beti”. This phrase holds so true and is oh so relevant in Indian television. A serial is incomplete with its talented actresses. Let’s give an ode to these lovely actresses, who make our days better with their presence on television and serials. This list is an ode to my personal favourite actresses of Indian television ever since I began watching serials (which happens to be before I began watching cartoons).

This may be my personal opinion/(s) altogether, but, these actresses are the top actresses of Hindi serials, whom me and the audience, like so much. This article is not in any order and simply lists out my preferences.

10)Divyanka Tripathi.

Or as we so know her,Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla.

divyanka-tripathiThis Bhopal beauty is a stunner on screen and off screen. Not only does she subtly and perfectly balanced the roles of daughter, wife and mother perfectly, but is a joy to watch and observe.

Maybe that is why she wins the Best Wife awards at most award functions of Star Plus?

9) Anita Hassanandani

Anita Hassanandani
Anita Hassanandani

Yes,we have so many names for her. The striking ones that have stood the test of time are Tanu of Kabhi Souten Kabhi Saheli, and Sanchi Nakul Virani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kahbi Nahi thi.

And of course, what we now know her as. As the villain or secondary character we just love to watch and cannot simply hate.

Shagun Arora!

She has jumped between big curtains and small curtains and yet managed to be good at both.

From the docile daughter in law of Taal, to the now vampish rebel in serials,Hassanandani has made it quite a way,and won our hearts (and viewerships) in the way.

8) Shweta Tiwari

shweta-tiwariAfter all,who can miss her? Miss Kasauti Zindagi Kayy, much?

7) Disha Vakhani.

disha_vakaniDaya Gada! The longest running so far comedic serial on Indian television,Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma,is based on Daya and Jetha all’s comedy . Can you ever imagine a regular Taarak Mehta episode without Daya’s innocent laughter and blabber? No!

We love her for her natural comedy and excellent capabilities of entertaining the audience.

6) Shalmalee Desai

sojal_agnihotri_Or , as we knew her, Sojal Agnihotri.

She plays the greedy daughter in law turned loving sister in law. She is a character we just love to watch on screen, and perhaps more than the plot of the serial.

5)Shrenu Parikh.

shrenuThe bubbly Aastha Agnihotri. The chirpy and cute actress who brightens up the plot and our television shows.

4) Helly Shah Or Swara Bose/Gadodia.

hellyThe bubbly and chirpy actress is a must watch on colors channel!

3) Smriti Irani

smritiYes,even though she is a politician and member of parliament now.

She is still our Tulsi, our ideal daughter in law and teacher of sanskāras .

This serial is still so relevant and remembered,it is indeed, iconic. Thanks to Ekta Kapur for such good entertainment back in the days.

2)  Jennifer Winget

jennifer-wingetOne does not have to ask  how many or what serials she has done. We are very much aware of her and her presence(s). However,we do wish her ex-husband was still by her side.

1) Sriti Jha

sriti-jhaOur beloved docile yet rebellious modern day and traditional girl. We simply love watching her!

Her acting comes from her eyes and hence she dominates Indian television shows!

Be it Dhoom Machao Dhoom or Dil se di Dua..Saubhagyavati, she has won our hearts.

First Trip To Hill Station: Mussoorie

Well seriously! There is something about the mountains which itself persuades the people that they WILL go there.

As they say to look deep into the nature, and then you will understand everything better; and it holds true in every sense of the word.

The tall pine trees, their bundled in clusters leaves; the spiral roads on the mountain making it a little scary at some turns; the mysteriously captivating fog, the chilly wind hustling through hairs. They all welcome the holidaymakers so vibrantly that once you feel the fascinating landscape you will know that IT IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT TO GO BACK TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE LIFE.

20160614_141731

Upon reaching you can see the magnificence around yourself. The cold air touches your face with its sharpness; the smell of boiling maize sold by its vendors; and some car smoke (its accumulation occur in the atmosphere due to being at greater height above sea level) surrounds us.

Beauty lies in everything, we just need to observe.

Walking on a road with a slight gradient one can see the innocence of people over there cordially waiting to provide their hospitality and excitement on the tourist’s faces willing to roam around to make sure they don’t miss anything. The side shops on the MALL ROAD attract everybody’s attention. The exquisite wooden artefacts, colourful wall hangings, woollen clothes, locally specializing traditional foot wears all are surrounded by people negotiating the price(one factor that explains we are all the same from within). The hotels providing accommodation also look gripping to tourists in accordance to suit their business.

Uncovering the virtue of the place makes you to explore all the prominent areas there like Dhanolti, Kempty Fall, Lal Tibba, Buddha Temple and some other religious places too.

First Trip To Hill Station: Mussoorie
Hill Station: Mussoorie

While exploring these places the clouds around us and the simple magical aspects of Mother Nature will make one to get absorbed into it. Watching the layers of foliage below the tall pine tree canopy, it feels like as if the time stands still. No matter what but that quietness makes us serene. We are bound to get philosophical in that moment of time and look at our whole life reversed as if played in our mind automatically. Upcoming decisions and circumstances seem to be altogether insignificant and indifferent. Wanting eagerly for the time to stop it is realized the true happiness in life which is peaceful mind.

Although peacefulness is not a physical unit in leading a life; but it is a major aspect of living a life.

Nature is not a place to visit. It is home. The lesson we learn here is to try to be happy with sound state of mind and stay firm without fearing any circumstances like the silently standing mountains.

One has to make so many adjustments in order to lead one’s life with a completely new person. That is the reason why almost 78% of people round the world are against marriage. According to them, what is the point of destroying a healthy relationship by bringing about the complications of marriage in it.

But to be honest opinions about marriage differ with the age of people. People can be categorized in to three groups as per their age:

  • From 18-29
  • From 29-45
  • From 45-60

Roughly 75% of the people belonging to the first group are in favour of marriage. They are of the opinion that it is very important for a couple to get married if they want to spend their lives together. While the remaining 25% say that it is not important to have marriage for staying together-one can simply have a live-in relationship with their partners.

marriageNearly 80% of the people of the second category are against the idea of getting married. The only reason behind this is that they are tired of their own marriages and want to get back the freedom which they have sacrificed for the sake of their marriage. The remaining 20% who are happy with their marriages are in favour of getting married.

Almost all the people belonging to the third category support marriage. May be this is because they finally realise that it is essential to have someone who will stay with them till the very end.

Types of marriages

Marriages are basically of two types:

  1. Love marriage
  2. Arranged marriage

Love marriage is basically the marriage between couples who have already been in a relationship with each other for a certain period of time before marriage. On the other hand, when two people who doesn’t even know each other get married, it is called arranged marriage.

Like everything, both love and arranged marriages both have their respective pros and cons.

In love marriages often it is noticed that love falls short after marriages. The couple gets bored of each other and seeks freedom. Thus they either cheat on each other or end up getting divorced. But the good part of love marriages is that the couples already know each other; their likes, dislikes, preferences, etc. But in arranged marriages two people, completely unknown of each other set on a journey of life while exploring and knowing more and more of each other. But sometimes these couples who have had an arranged marriage spend their entire lives but still cannot find that spark of love for each other.

Problems in marriages

Are marriages really made in heaven? The concept that marriages are made in heaven is absolutely fairytale-ish and there is no reason as such to rely on this saying. Had the proverb been true then all marriages would have lasted forever. But in actuality only a few manage to make it till the end.

familyBut what is the reason; why do marriages these days work out so less? Well may be we all are aware of the reasons but just cannot rectify ourselves.

  • Most of us believe that love is enough for working out a marriage; whereas the truth is that it is never enough. Love doesn’t solve all the problems in life and cannot help you get rid of the frustrations resulting from those problems; rather it makes it more frustrating at some point of time.
  • We are not ready to give each other even a bit of space after marriage. Well it is true that marriage is a bondage and it does restrict a people to a certain limit; but that doesn’t mean that we forget to give each other the space each one of us deserves.
  • While getting married we all imagine that now we will live happily ever after. Actually we visualise the fairy tale ending in our real lives. Well a life with endless romance may exist, but the sad part is that most of us are not willing to give what it takes to work out a marriage; i.e. most of us have adjustment issues with each other.
  • These days especially couples cannot give time to each other. They are too busy with their professional lives and hence start neglecting their personal lives. This creates misunderstandings among them and finally breaks them apart.
  • Last but not the least, ego is the one behind the breakdown of happy marriages. Often our ego binds us from forgiving our partners after a heated argument. We prefer on continuing a fight where just a little sorry can do the work.

Well despite all the drawbacks of a marriage, I feel that it is necessary for a person to get married, because it finally helps us realise our responsibilities and gives us another person with whom we can share all our emotions. Inspite of all the countless fights we have had with our partners, at the end of the day we all do cherish the happiest moments they had given us; we do seek their company when we have got no one to count on at the very end of our lives.

We do say “I wish you were here with me right now” isn’t it?
