The History of Black

black cat bad luck

Many people’s favorite colour is black. Do you know how black colour became more popular? For this, we need to know about the history. The word black comes from Old English blæc from Proto-Germanic. In Latin, the word for black was associated with cruelty, brutality, and evil.

The result of the absence of light is black. It is one of the primary colors of CMYK color model. Black was first used by an artist in one of the neolithic cave paintings.

Black was one of the most important colors used by ancient Greek artists.  In the 14th century royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials and in much of Europe, they began to wear dresses.  In the 19th century, English romantic poets, businessmen began to wear black as well. In the 20th century, it became the most fashionable colour.

According to surveys in Europe and North America, it is the colour most commonly associated with mourning, the end, secrets, magic, force, violence, evil, and elegance.

Physics

In physics, a black body is a perfect absorber of light, but, by a thermodynamic rule, it is also the best emitter. Ultraviolet light is called “black light”.

Researchers from Troy, New York’s Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute announced the creation of the darkest material on the planet on January 16, 2008. The material, which reflected only 0.045 percent of light, was created from carbon nanotubes. This is 1/30 of the light reflected by the current for blackness, and one-third the light reflected for darkest substance by the previous record holder. As of February 2016, the current darkest material is claimed to be Vantablack.

A material is said to be black if the most incoming light is absorbed equally in the material. Light interacts with the atoms and molecules, which causes the energy of the light to be converted into other forms of energy, usually heat. This means that black surfaces can act as thermal collectors, absorbing light and generating heat.

Absorption of light is contrasted by transmission, reflection, and diffusion, where the light is only redirected, causing objects to appear transparent, reflective or white respectively.

The History of Black

Astronomy

A black hole is a region of space time where gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping. The theory of general relativity says that a sufficiently compact mass will deform space time to form a black hole. There is a mathematically defined surface called an event horizon that marks the point of no return around a black hole. It is called “black” because it absorbs all the light that hits the horizon, reflecting nothing. When very massive stars collapse at the end of their life cycle then black holes of stellar mass are expected to form.

After a black hole has formed, it can continue to grow by absorbing mass from its surroundings. By absorbing other stars and merging with other black holes, super massive black holes of millions of solar masses may form. There is the general consensus that super massive black holes exist in the centers of most galaxies. Although a black hole itself is black material, forms an accretion disk, which is one of the brightest type of objects in the universe.

The History of Black

Culture

In China, the colour black is associated with water. When the first Emperor of China Qin Shi Huang seized power from the Zhou Dynasty, he changed the Imperial colour from red to black, saying that black extinguished red. In Japan, black is associated with mystery. In Indonesia black is associated with depth.

The History of Black

Religion

In Christianity, black was the colour of the universe before God created light. In Hinduism, the goddess Kali, goddess of time and change, is portrayed with black or dark blue skin wearing a necklace adorned with severed heads and hands. Her name means “The black one”.

The History of Black

Functionality

In the 19th and 20th centuries, many machines and devices like telephones, sewing machines, steamships, railroad locomotives, and automobiles were printed in black.

The History of Black

Darkness and evil

In western popular culture, black has long been associated with evil and darkness. It is the traditional colour of witchcraft and black magic.

Lost in the World: Double Standards

0
Double standards

I want to share the story of a friend , a person very close to my heart, a recent graduate, a passionate soul full of dreams, with a zeal to rise and shine like the most shining star in the sky. She has everything what it takes to follow the path but may be lacks courage, a little confidence.
Lost in the World: Double Standards
I knew her since childhood she was not always like this, a girl with over confidence who had never cared about the world has turned a coward I should say. I do not know whether this word is justified or not but her inner courage is useless when her outer fear has no bounds. But struggles, experiences are meant to make us better. Right? Then what happened in her case? May be she got shattered by the harsh, superficial world that continues to condemn her, oppress her and proved her that in this world a person with spine and morals end up feeling betrayed and lonely. Corrupt, hollow, spineless people cannot end the limitless dreams but wound the dreamer. Time heals all, then why her wounds are taking so long? Its been years but honestly I feel all her attempts are in vain. She went for things, realized it’s pathetic nature, and then she left. She is not the one who can bear the shit. A carefree bird from inside waiting for a direction, a way to fly higher and to never stop. I appreciate her never ending spirit but sometimes I strongly feel she will give up any moment, but then she resists.
Lost in the World: Double Standards
I have always witnessed her incredible, most affectionate and a very cute bond with her mother, but I do not know, I believe that her mother is now frustrated or may be hopeless, according to many her dreams are huge and unrealistic and may be my friend is getting a little depressed and turning into an irritating being but honestly when you keep talking and talking and there is no result, then you sound foolish, then its like “Oh this girl is lazy she is just making excuses , wasting her life and killing her precious time, bloody good for nothing, a burden on earth, why cant she behave and act normal, whats her damn problem, what on earth is she doing?” Trust me those words rip your soul apart. You know I  won’t say her family is wrong because all they want is her happiness and success so according to them her dreams are the culprit and even she understands their condition, but I always wonder what about her trauma, what she is going through is sad, her agony, misery, sufferance is unbearable. Whom to blame? I guess the fu*king society, this hypocrite world, meaningless, baseless rules, those who impose their stinking, rotten way of  living on others are worst, who have the capability to suck a person’s soul. Those hollow creatures with no morals, the darkness prevailing in this system, the wrong methods and what not. This all just pissed me off, so annoying. Isn’t it? I do not have any idea what’s there in life’s treasure box for her, but her relations which are getting affected adversely, her deep dark depression surrounding her is not due to her follies, these are the old wounds which are taking a lot of time in getting healed.
Lost in the World: Double Standards
I seriously wish if the hurdles that we have to face are created by us and not by all the other as*holes. Now she is right back to where she had started, life is such an unutterable hell.
Roaming in dark nights
Lifeless, heartless
an urge to rise
With the fear to fall
In the lifeless life
A soul of dreams ;
Webbed in world
Desire to fly
To scream, to cry,
Starts with a happiness to try..
Dreams or devils
Suffer or satisfy
Courageous or coward
Pain or endurance
In this cold war of experiences and hopes
The pain of back stabs
Or the strength of backbone
Makes this life tough
But worth living..

The ‘cute-n-hot’ chemistry between the couple is very well picturised in the song which has attracted the fans of this pair once again, after their love magic in Aashiqui 2. 4) Resham Ka Rumaal from Great Grand Masti

Remakes of old songs is the new Bollywood trendScorching the screen and soaring temperatures in the remake of old folk song ‘Resham Ka Rumaal’ originally sung by Ila Arun,  Uvashi sets the heartbeats racing in the new remake. “Lights, camera and action” The entire movie strip is supported over the phrase. Be it the man behind the camera or facing the camera, each one is equally responsible for framing a storyline. Some make it to the point on the box office while the rest fail to do so. The exact is what happens with our Bollywood industry even.

Even while some storylines are on a weaker side of the section but it is not always the hare who wins the race. One can never forget as to how a poor, village Indian mother in absence of her husband, despite of all basic amenities, raises her children in the midst of surviving from a vulture-minded moneylender. The screen grabs our attention leaving us dumbfounded, when the mother of the village (Nargis) is honoured to inaugurate the canal and red water flows through the fields. “What is written in our fate can’t be changed” The verse from a still of the movie decided it’s fate, and it was awarded the Filmfare Best Film Award for 1957 along with Best featured film at an All India Category.

Multitasking: The Art of Ruining your Career

0

When I think about my career I realize the fact that someday I am going to be appearing for an interview. There is one question which always makes me think. Are you a multitasker? On one hand there lies the perfection or close to perfection artwork in focusing on a single task while on the other hand there exists a greed for knowledge and information. When you are just starting your career and you have little idea where to go, it’s highly likely that you would stumble. Stumbling your way up to the top, you ought to learn a lot of things. For instance, a good sportsman must be aware of any slight chance for him to score before the opposition team makes their move. The time is limited and there are many different skills in life that we need to learn.

Remember in college, when you were surrounded with tens of subjects and practical’s while your mind was wandering somewhere else. It is often the case that what our mind demands and what we give it are two different things. Humans naturally have a carving for knowledge. They need continuous flow of thoughts and new information to feed upon every now and then. We have always made this decision as a kid, then it was way easier and less hurtful as now. Today, for an adult or a college boy things are pretty serious. Say you are studying in a college and you feel there is something which you should really be studying. That something could be a part of your college studies or it may be totally different than what you have been learning all these years. What would you choose to do in such a situation?

I responded just the way everyone else would respond when I was faced with a similar encounter of problems in my life. I started working late, cutting my sleep and thinking over how to manage my time perfectly. There were days when I used to stay up awake all night working on one project and then in the day I used to attend college studying a completely different subject. Then, in the afternoon I would read some books trying to get my head around a new scientific discovery.

My days would start with me trying to focus on my college studies and end with me trying to come with a logical explanation for the atom to behave in a certain way. There was a lot going on in my life before I decided to calm myself down and take a moment to analyze the situation. The observations made me realize the foundation that makes us learn and how the very strive for learning and putting in a lot of information might be the problem. Our mind is a storehouse of information. However, it is also the dumping ground of information. Over the 24 hours in a day, we read, listen, watch, learn a lot new things. If we are aware enough and conscious about our learning habits or about our day-to-day activities, then we would have no problem handling the huge chunk of information.

However, not each one of us is aware every second of the day. This leads to overlapping of professions, interests, passions and dreams. The mind dumps all the information which we didn’t care to be conscious about. It stores up a lot and when the time comes to use the information, we are doomed. The order inside our mind gets disturbed with increase in information and decrease in consciousness. We try to accomplish many things at a time but we are actually not able to dedicate ourselves to even a single task at hand.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]It is the art of performing a number of tasks before the given deadline with the exception of working on a single task at one time.[/beautifulquote]

Multitasking when considered in the terms of time, gives out a sleek definition which if implemented would bring ruins to your career. For some people, multitasking is about doing a number of tasks at the same time. However, multitasking when considered in terms of productivity gives out a beautiful definition which if implemented would bring glory to both the person and the company he works in. For such leaders who know how to utilize the power of multitasking, it is the art of performing a number of tasks before the given deadline with the exception of working on a single task at one time. This methodology shapes the way we grow; it reduces disturbance in the mind and prevents you from ruining your career.

The Note

Pain. Resentment and eventually, bankruptcy. What did I not lose for you ? when I was a little six year old, I gave up the memories with toys and games that any kid would have. I chose you. I got a small piano instead. When I was thirteen, instead of watching something that could have been as fascinating as porn, like many of my friends did, I watched AR Rahman and the beat make mesmerizing music. When I was seventeen, I put down my parents and went to percussion classes instead of physics tuitions. I was branded a failure for my faithfulness towards you. When I was 21, I went behind producers and musicians for a chance instead of going behind girls on dates.

Image result for tear drop eye

I was a 25-year- old unemployed couch potato who was a burden to a 59-year-old government employee who spent his whole fortune on getting me a seat in an engineering college which I carelessly discontinued. My only support system. My girl. My soul mate left me because her parents didn’t want her to marry a man without a fancy six digit salary a month. Now, I’m sitting on a small cubicle at a call center and jamming on the streets for money, at the age of twenty seven. I gave up so much for you, and I’m ready to do.. even more. I’m still waiting.. patiently for you to realize, for you to reciprocate and I forever will, for my love is passionate and true. I now realize, rather painfully, that no love is unconditional.
