Delve deeper into History, Choose Archaeology

0

Fascinated by the grandeur of our culture? Want to unravel the mysteries of the past? Wonder as to what ancient books and burials tell us? Well then, archaeology should definitely garner your consideration for the career choice. The present article envisages presenting a detailed analysis about the career prospects for the profession at hand and throws some light on the modus operandi to realize it into the career. For the sake of brevity, let us begin in the following manner.

What is archaeology and what do        archaeologists do?

Archaeology is that interdisciplinary branch of humanities which concerns about the material developments associated with the previous civilizations. This requires a keen expertise in subjects ranging from history, to geography to surveying and even to museology making it an interdisciplinary subject in true sense. The pools of trained personnel responsible to undertake this task are called archaeologists.

What is the qualification required to become an archaeologist?

Prima facie, a formal course in archaeology starts only at the post graduation level but it is imperative on the part of a serious aspirant to start quite early. From the school days themselves one should hone his knowledge about the rich cultural and geographical diversity of our country and should also actively engage in heritage trips to ancient excavation sites and museums. Although, many universities do not obligate any particular stream as a requisite for admissions, certain premier colleges are there which mandate the streams to be Bachelors in history or atleast in any classical language of our country.  The most premier institutions offering courses in this discipline are:

  • Institute of archaeology, Archaeological survey of India-New Delhi (offers a post graduate program in archaeology, Duration-2 years)
  • Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (runs a bachelors course in ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Duration-3 years)
  • Banaras Hindu University runs
  • An undergraduate program in ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology (Duration-3 years),
  • A post graduate program in Archaeology (2 years) and
  • A vocational program in Museology and Archaeology, (3 years)

After post graduation, one may either opt for earning the PhD or simply apply for lectureship positions available with different universities. For both cases, one requires to clear the National Eligibility Test. One may also apply for archaeologists positions at the archaeological survey of India itself or may work in the capacities of curators for various government or private museums.  Since the majority of the jobs are from the government sectors themselves, the job prospects are quite stable and one enjoys all the perks availed by a typical government employee.

Jobs and Remuneration prospects in Archaeology

Although, one starts to earn a stipend of Rs 8000 per month + HRA as soon as one gets enrolled in the program and as much as Rs 28,000 per month + HRA at the PhD level but it is solely after the recruitment that the employment is of a permanent nature. A typical government employee earns as per a Class I government officer plus the additional perks as enjoyed by the regular government employees. As regards the private employment, salary depends upon the seniority and the reach of the organization one is working with.

A career in archaeology is filled with fascination and offers people, a wide canvas to work upon. Those with a motivation towards the history, a penchant for the civilizations and the desire to discover something pioneering should undoubtedly go for it!

TRENDING : Women Against Feminism

0

Feminism, the most sought after topic and maybe the most misunderstood concept. So,now the modern women ,the beast with a tuxedo herself is being against feminism.

Women Against Feminism, also known as #WomenAgainstFeminism, is a Twitter hashtag, Tumblr blog, and social media campaign on Facebook, YouTube, and other internet media in which women post pictures of themselves, some in “selfie” style, holding up handmade placards stating reasons why they disapprove of modern feminism. Most of the posts begin with the statement, “I don’t need feminism because”, followed by their reason. On a larger scale, it is also a grassroots movement of women who disagree with feminism for various reasons.

Well,it’s never a dull week for feminists, and now Women Against Feminism is the most recent ire du jour. The Tumblr photo collection of women holding signs explaining why they “don’t need feminism” is more annoying than frightening. But Women Against Feminism is certainly getting plenty of attention. The Tumblr started in the summer of 2013. The Facebook group, which was created in January 2014, has 12,000 likes, suggesting it appeals to a not insignificant group of people.

Many of the reasons these women claim for not needing feminism are embarrassingly bad. One post that has made the rounds is “I don’t need feminism because I love masculine men like Christian Grey :-P.”

TRENDING : Women Against Feminism

Feminists, read it and weep. It’s not the fact that there is criticism against feminism, but that the criticism is so insane, unintelligent, and useless. Aside from those who mistakenly think feminists want to kill Christian Grey, many of the women who posted on the Tumblr accuse feminism of being things that it is not.

For example, one woman posted “I don’t need ‘feminism’ because I believe that men and women are EQUAL, not that women should dominate men.” Those posts hurt a bit more because they reveal how deeply misinterpreted feminism is.

There is no question that Women Against Feminism is utterly and completely misguided in its understanding of what feminism is. But they aren’t only the ones. Feminism gets a bad rap, and people perceive the movement as meaning something very narrow and specific—and negative.

An April 2013 survey found just 16 percent of men and 23 percent of women in America identify as feminists. The women behind Women Against Feminism aren’t exactly a minority. However, that same poll found 82 percent of all Americans agree with the statement “men and women should be social, political, and economic equals.” That’s the simplest and most accurate definition of feminism, but the movement has come to be seen as anti-men, liberal, radical, pro-choice, and many other things that it is not.

Think of all the female celebrities who have gone out of their way to declare themselves not feminists and their reasons for doing so. Katy Perry had previously said, “I am not feminist, but I do believe in the power of women.” She recently changed her mind and declared she was a feminist because “it just means that I love myself as a female and I also love men.” While Perry was mocked for her admittedly space cadet-sounding response, she hit on a point that is often lost in the misperception of feminism: At its most core basic level, feminism is about equality between the sexes, not advancing one over the other.

People do not realize you can be a feminist and pro-life. You can be a feminist and a housewife.

One of the other misunderstood terms with feminism is women empowerment. Women empowerment is empowering women to provide equal status to them in all aspects, be it privileges or contributions.

For example, men chauvinist society dictates that no matter what a woman is not supposed to hit a man. That’s just wrong. Women empowerment would be consisting of self defense classes. Feminism is the rule that, “No one should hit any other person, be it man or woman“. Realise the difference? When women empowerment goes astray it becomes okay for women to hit men.

TRENDING : Women Against Feminism
So, feminism is the real goal. Women empowerment is just a road we take to reach it.
One last example. Even today, in some places, women are not educated, since they are consider below men in those cultures.
So, we begin by propagating “feminism” and teaching them that women are equal to men in all aspects. Then we open up local schools, persuade women to join them, provide job opportunities to those women. This is women empowerment. We may even reserve seats in educational institutions for these underprivileged women. However, when even well-to-do women exploit these benefits carved out for those women, that is “women empowerment” gone astray and feminism thrown out the door.

It’s still your choice to be on either side!

10 Best Techniques To Find A Job… Be A Successful Person

0

Job- I guess that’s every person’s requirement now a days. Everyone needs a job not all gets it. Ever thought about the probable answer? I guess no. only desire of doing a job wont gift you job. For that you need to be prepared and get yourself ready for it. There are several procedures you need to follow in order to be placed in your dream job. If you find yourself helpless in this regards and have no one to guide you, then I would love be your well wisher. The following points you certainly help you and prove me a great guide. Jokes apart, just go through the following… It would certainly be a key to your dream job.

1. Decide What Kind Of Job You Want

When you decide you want to take a job it is compulsory that you have decided what kind of jobs interests you. I mean you can’t be a superhero who prefers multitasking. It’s my advice that when you starting a professional carrier, then try your best to start with the one in which you are the best. Getting involved into many jobs at beginning will create chaos and won’t help you in any way. So set your mind accordingly and be firm with your decision of job.

2. Allot Time For Search

I must remind you something- you are a human being not a robot. So you need to allot your precious time accordingly. You got many personal works to be done. So try to allot your time for job search too. Because neither you can waste all of your time in one work, i.e. searching nor you can ignore this work. So set a time table where you manage your personal works as well as getting to search for a suitable job.

3. For Jobs, The Must Is Resume

Yes resume is a must in every kind of job. You can’t just get into any office and give a verbal introduction. At first you need to submit your resume. If your resume is suitable for the vacancy then you would be given a call for interview. So resume is like the key to better future. In order to prove yourself deserving, you need to have an awesome resume but that doesn’t mean you will fake the resume. Just prepare a genuine one which describes you the best.

4. Search Job

Ready with a resume? Now it’s time to search a place where your resume can do magic. It’s time to search for a job. You are done with the decision making of what kind of jobs you want and you are also done with your resume then what are you waiting for? Just go and look for the jobs which will suit you.

5. Take References

Searching a job is not an easy task. Before you search a right job, you must need to gain some knowledge about the industries or the sectors. And that work can be done by any person who is having experience in such sectors. May that be your father, sister, mother, your friends or may be your teacher, you need to take advice from them before getting involved into any sector.

6. Try For Local Den Go Virtual

I guess you got the heading right. Try to find job in local areas because jumping into the virtual world might cause you harm. Some of the virtual jobs turn outs to be fake. All they do is take away your information and those information are prone to misuse.

7. Market Research

While finding a job, it is required that you do a background check on the company you are going to apply. May that be virtual or real job in a company; you need to do research as you would be a part of the company. And you certainly don’t want to get into any kind of trouble caused by a fake company.

8. Use Your Network

For finding a suitable job, you can also use your networks. You may not have idea but your connections may work magic. After selecting a job profile and a suitable job provider, you have a find a way to get into the job. For that connections will come into role. They may help you by giving recommendation. But always try to minimize taking advantage of your connections because your success depends on how you work not on their words of praise.

9. Buckle Up For Interview

After your resume is selected, it’s time for interviews. You need to be smart enough to prove your resume right. Just learn the etiquette that’s required in a interview room. Try to impress the interviewer with you intelligence and confidence.

10. Be Genuine

This part is a must. As told earlier, you need to be genuine in your work. Always avoid faking it. Because a fake profile and identity may give you months of job but a genuine personality will award you with lifelong success.  Good luck with your decision.

Being A Woman

0

Being a woman myself,

Is an honour I feel,

Every soul in which is a truth,

And not a character amidst the reels.

It is the story of every woman,

Who carved their own destinies,

Believed womanhood is a pride,

And buried alive all their miseries.

It is the story of every woman,

Who makes points of defying aspects,

Judges what is good and evil,

And not blindly follows her man like dummies and puppets.

It is the story of every woman,

Who believes ‘Bad behaviour is the monopoly of men’,

She portrays her feminist views on emancipation,

And makes people believe all other issues are a mere vain.

It is the story of every woman,

Who understands the grave secret,

Of the sword of unrealistic expectations that beheads her,

Is placed not only by men but equally by women.

It is the story of every woman,

Who believes ‘female bad characters’,

Are the ‘keys to doors they need to open’,

And mirrors where more than just a pretty face is reflected.

It is the story of every woman,

Who are surrounded by millions of women lacking empowerment.

But it is not the story of every woman,

Who raises her hand with acceptance.

It is not the story of every woman,

Who foresees possibilities amongst hurdles.

It is not the story of every woman,

Who does it all in the context of being a woman.

Myths Engulfing The Introverts

0

  • Introverts are arrogant.

It must have happened with you, you came across an introvert, and you wished to the god that you should have never met him because you could not find a colder and a more indifferent person on the earth than him.

Myths Engulfing The Introverts

Introverts are like that. You surely are not going to like them in the very first instance. They are those tall, beautiful buildings wreathed in mist, the beauty of which you cannot appreciate at once because you are looking at them for the first time at a distance; you have to wait for the mist to disappear so that you can see the real, unbiased look of them. Spend some time with the introverts. You’ll realize that introverts are the best buds you can hang out with. They unveil themselves like the rising sun until now hidden behind the clouds. You are amazed by their brilliance and humility. Once you befriend an introvert, Lo and behold, wait for the magic to happen.

  • Introverts are apathetic.

Well, introverts might seem that they are least caring persons on this planet. But this is as wrong as to say that the earth is flat not round. Introverts are like hawks, they watch your minutest details, even when you don’t know they are. Tell them you don’t like a thing and they’ll take a mental note of it rather than letting it out from the other ear. You enjoy a company of pure bliss with the introverts.

Myths Engulfing The Introverts

  • Introverts are party-haters.

Introverts love silence and darkness. Silence allows them to think; the thoughts which make more sound in the introverts’ brains than the blaring woofers in a party. Introverts love darkness, peculiar it may seem, but the darkness, it is, which provides them solace.  So, one cannot certainly say that the introverts are party-haters, you never know when they are at a party in their own mind.  To get an invitation for the party, you’ll have to be really close to them.

Myths Engulfing The Introverts

  • Introverts will lose if they do not change themselves.

Life becomes easy when you are able to communicate and talk freely without holding any reservations, isn’t it? It might sometimes, not always. Studies show that the introverts are highly successful in their lives. But, why is that?

Myths Engulfing The Introverts

Introverts do well in any and every type of career they choose. Introverts talk when they are required to talk; they hate forced conversations. They are not interested in the fancy talks; they are more interested in talking business to you. Unnecessary talks help them to avoid unnecessary conflicts.

So you better not advise an introvert to change himself/herself according to the world. Respect their space and love them the way they are.
