Gender Biasness

Gender Bias

The physiological differences between men and women are natural.

It is said that Men and Women are born from Mars and Venus respectively. However, there are some proven differences between Man and Woman in terms of health which must be naturally. As gender is a defined characteristic pertaining to masculinity and femininity depending upon male and female organs biologically. In the context of social, gender is the concept of mind accordingly works has been distributed such as female must be involved with household activities and child care while male should go out for work. Scientifically, the physical and mental differences between men and women are well established.

  • An average man is taller and heavier than a woman.
  • Male athletes have longer and larger bones than female from an athletics perspective.
  • Male gets mechanical advantages over female because male needs wider surface area and more leverage to support muscles while female athletes have a wider pelvis and a lower centre of gravity.
  • Men are about 30 per cent stronger than women.
  • Male athletes generally have a higher ratio of muscle mass to body weight, giving them the advantage of greater speed and acceleration. However, both genders show equal strength in terms of muscular strength to a cross-section of muscular area.
  • Men have a larger heart and lungs than women.
  • Basal metabolic rate in men is observed higher than women.
  • Body fat per fat percentage of female is higher than men, it could be due to natural reproductive demands for females which allows a woman to keep the species going.
  • Numbers of Red Blood Cells (RBCs) in men are 20% higher in comparison women. Less number of RBCs affects in female affects delivery of oxygen which lead to their lower performance.
  • If a man is jogging at 50 per cent of his capacity, a woman may have to jog at 70 per cent or more of her capacity to keep up.
  • Levels of hormones in men and women are different. Men have higher levels of testosterone while women have higher levels of oestrogen.
  • Testosterone enables men to bulk up easily.
  • Stress hormone levels also differentiate between man and woman e.g. cortisol, epinephrine and oxytocin. During stress, the first two increase blood pressure and the brain release oxytocin to counter these effects. Lower levels of oxytocin secretion in men explain the spike in their physiological response to stress. In this basis man have ‘fight or flight’ response while women gravitate towards a ‘tend and befriend’ approach when faced with stress.
  • Women have been classified weaker sex traditionally, ignoring the need to improve fitness attitudes, not seeing it as adding value to their roles at home, work or play.

Though, these are mainly biological differences; man and woman supposed not be differentiated socially. Both genders must be treated with equal values and rights. All the work done by male could be done by female while giving birth to a child never be possible for male. So, female must be given more importance than male.

The differences need to be addressed intelligently with intelligent debate. Physiological differences need not limit women in the society. Women should be positive and live active lifestyle to pursuit’s similarities and should break the self-induced gender bias towards fitness, education, works etc. Similarly men should not stress to woman for any work often let alone managed.

Now, gender lines are slowly being blurred. It’s good to recognise that the differences are natural but a large common ground exists where men and women can both strive for better health, rights etc. in the society.

Never stop dreaming

Is following one’s dream tough task to do?

There can be numerous reasons and excuses for not doing what one wants to. That is why it becomes difficult. It is solely one’s perspective that makes it either unmanageable or fruitful in near future.

I wonder, if parents are our originators, they give us life, yet, do they understand what we want to do with that life? Similarly, we all have dreams, big or small, we imagine these dreams for us, we originate them and only we can give life to them. If we don’t follow our dreams then nobody else would either. One cannot blame one’s parents always for not letting the child pursue the dream. Parents want a definite bright future for the children. Their concern is right certainly but a little emotional support and patience can do wonders and benefit both.

One might face tens and hundreds of problems to be what one wants to be. However, this is what makes it the most memorable. Getting something without any effort might not always make one happy. Working really hard for what one wants to be is always rewarding.

Even if one fails, experience is what one gains.

J.K.-Rowling

The British novelist J K Rowling is widely known for her Harry Potter series. The loss of her mother, unstable relationships, and a broken marriage left her jobless with a small child to look after. All this despaired her certainly. However, these events also inspired her writings, the results of which can be seen in the 400 million dollars sale of the series.

What challenges us and creates obstacles for us, ultimately helps us even more to become what we want to be. All that happens, is for a reason and we must learn from it.

quote-you-got-to-like-your-work-you-have-got-to-like-what-you-are-doing-you-have-got-to-be-doing-colonel-sanders-350613

The American businessman, Colonel Harland Sanders is widely known for his fast food chicken restaurant chain, Kentucky Fried Chicken. He changed tons of professionals in his early life until he realized the work worthwhile for him. His fried chicken recipe was refused 1009 times and then finally accepted by a restaurant. His story shows how dedication, ambition and hard work can lead to success irrespective of age.

Those who have the power to dream, must also have the power to accomplish them. Place the imaginary into the real world.

Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He entered batting for India against Pakistan and New Zealand. He entered into professional cricket in 1980s. He went on to participate in international cricket matches when he was just sixteen.

Tendulkar himself believes and says that dreams do come true, nothing is impossible.

Always be positive

We all want to be accepted in the society by doing what the society wants us to do. This makes us feel normal. Why is the crave for acceptance so important? Acceptance is “radical” to humans while rejection may be equally depressing. However, one must take rejection in a healthy manner. Learn and understand the cause of rejection. Thereby, modifying one’s knowledge about oneself and, thus, correcting the wrong too.

We all are blessed with wings but only some of us know how to use them to fly up to our dreams.

Theorizing of caste Question in India by Ambedkar

0
caste

“Annihilation of the caste” it is the undelivered speech of B.R. Ambedkar which he had written in 1936. In this speech he rose his voice against the unaccountability in India and how the various dominated caste theorize the caste, and continue to practice the caste system in the society. The speech was prepared as the presidential address for the annual conference of a Hindu reformist group Jat-Pat Todak Mandal.

Before moving in the process of theorizing let us have look on the structure of the Indian society. The caste in India is the social stratification of the society on the basis of Varna and jati where Varna classification is based on the occupation and jati (caste) is acquire from the birth. There are four Varna and thousands and thousands of jati. As per the Hindu sculpture it is mentioned that the Brahmin is born from the head of Brahma, Kshatriya from the arm Vishay from the thigh and the sudra from the lower portion of feet and which is not mentioned is the Ati shudra the untouchable. Their working have been ascribe as the different part of the body have different functioning, The Brahmin have to teach, Kshatriya have to protect and the Vaishya have to do business and sudra have to serve. In regard of this Ambedkar question to this statement and state the ill effect of the caste and its existence in the society while mahatma Gandhi argued that the Varna classification must exist in the society to maintain the smooth functioning of society therefor Ambedkar put the question against the various theory of caste as defined by the Vedas and Puranas.

Yovamanyet te moole hetushrashraya dwizah

sa sadhubhirbahirbahishkaryo nashtiko vedandikah

Vedas and smriti are the guided rule and norm for the Hindu they cannot follow anything apart from this even they cannot intemperate the Vedas and smriti it is punishable. In case if any conflict took place between any two smriti or Veda any one can be followed it is irrespective of the reason which it explain.

Shrutidwadham tu yatra syaptatra dharvarvudhau smirtau

‘It explain that if any conflict take place between shruti and sinriti, the shruti will prevail”but why? It dosent answer to this infact it dosent talks about the situation.

puranam manvo dharmah sango vedashikitsitam

agasidhani chatvari na hantavyani hetubhih

The Vedas and Smritis will deal with the matter of caste and Varna system in the society it will not affect the hindu. But this do not hold true and its ill effect can be seen in the today’s world latest example the incident which took place in Gujrat ( the Dalit were bitten by the cow protection group for skinning a dead cow).

As per Ambedkar the Indian society consist of four caste and further it is sub divide into sub class which maintain the hierarchal order defining one caste above the another or in other word it could be understood as the one is dominated by the other a vertical construct he further says about the caste on the basis of labor “it not the division of labor but the division of labors” I again put the example the industry where the tanning of skinning is done, cleaning of toilet is done by this low caste people.

He points to the Shastra where it is mentioned that the Brahmin is appointed as the Guru of the three Varnas “varnanam bramhano garu” it is the job of Brahmin to teach other, which is irrespective of his qualification. This is his job which he gets from the birth, but why? So Ambedkar wanted the reform in the society. He talks about the social reform which is the way to the heaven. The political minded Hindu people say that   they can bring the change but the question arises up to what extent? When they are not equal with their countrymen only as they do not allow them to use public property, they do not allow them to drink water from the same pot, they do not allow there animal to graze in the common land then how this social reform will come, when the control is in the hand of political minded Hindu. How this reform is possible? Weather the reform must take place in the Hindu society or among the untouchable. When the Hindu minded people wanted the political power for not allowing them to wear good cloth not allowing them to have good food not allowing them to walk free on the road so, what kind of reform they want and how? Social reform is possible unless or until the political reform is done. Addressing to the Ferdinand Lassalle where he says “The constitution question are in the first instance not question of right but question of might. The actual constitution of a country has it existence only in actual condition of force which exists within the country”.

Coming back to the above mentioned definition of caste as per Chaturvarna theory Ambedkar says that the caste in our society is the division of labor but it is not it is the division of labors even the division of labor is hierarchy in nature where one laborers is regarded as the above the other in term of work they do. The job in the Hindu society is hereditary, one has to carry it from one generation to another generation.it is very difficult for one to get out of his job in Hindu society it become the stigma for those who are attached to such a job which is considered as the low level of work. Talking about the ideal social organization by Arya Samajists is known as Chaturvarnya which is not based on birth but based on the guna (talent)  is derived from the Manu Smriti. The earlier meaning of Varna was on the basis of occupation but later it become rigid in the society and have taken the form of casteism in the hindu society and it is very difficult for one to get out of his job. Then he question to the Manu Smriti where men are only classified then what about the women it does not talk about the women of the society how they will be classified. It is the Manu Smriti where it is mentioned that the shudra must not acquire wealth because the other varna are there to provide education ,wealth, and protection but what will happen if they do not do so and suppress the shudra in which have been done. Education is the basic need protection is also the basic need. And the Manu smriti it does not talk about any such social right.

abbedkar

Where some supporter of Hinduism says that the caste classification is to maintain the purity of the caste from the biological point of view where Ambedkar reply to this it is not to maintain the purity caste giving the reference of Mr D.R Bhandakar, he says that “there is hardly any Hindu which is pure” then again Ambedkar say that if he caste is eugenic in nature then the sub caste must also be eugenic in nature. The Hindu have always prevented the lower caste to improve their cultural level due to the rigidity of the caste.

Ambedkar says that the in Indian society the untouchable is not only being discriminated but they are the resource poor. Then he point out toward the rich of the indian society so called proletariat of Indian will they bring the change he says “it seem to me that the only thing that will move one man to take such an action is the feeling that other man with whom he is acting are actuated by feeling of equality and fraternity and above all justice” But further it is the fact the nobody will come together for this change of equalization of property because unless they know that after the revolution they all will become equal.  The caste has effected the ethic of the hindu it has killed the public sprit, it has destroyed the since of public charity the capacity to appreciate in a man apart from his caste does not exist in Hindu. Ambedkar says that have not Hindu committed treason against country in the interest of their caste.

Bhimrao-Ramji-Ambedkar

After pointing out all the ill issue of caste then he says that this caste must be annihilated from the society, but question arise if this caste system is removed then what kind of ideal society that he wanted, he reply that a new society must be based on equality, liberty and fraternity. He says fraternity as an ideal social endosmosis in an ideal society there must be many interest consciously communicated and shared among each other. Fraternity is the name of democracy. While talking about liberty he says liberty is to perpetuate slavery, have the liberty for health that is right to health right to earn, and free to take any profession. He says equality as “a manpower is dependent upon physical heredity social inheritance or endowment in the form of parents care, education, accumulation of scientific knowledge, which enable the savage and finally on his own effort when he considered all this aspect then undoubtedly all men and women are unequal but he rise the question this inequality should exist because men are unequal. Equality must be maintained in the society because each one need each other when time comes but each one must be provided with the equal opportunity.

He says about abolishing the caste system which can be done through the fusion of one caste with the caste. That is intermarriage, another way is inter dining having food together. I to agree with the Ambedkar the world is changing we talk of development and the development is not possible until or unless this caste is abolished from the society, a change in the mentality and thinking of the people must be changed.

Sports in India is mostly about cricket. So when it comes to cricket, who else better than “Captain Cool” MS Dhoni . And ever since the first motion teaser was released during ICC World T-20 2016, the fans are going crazy all over.

The film is based on Dhoni’s life – his journey from a ticket collector to a wicketkeeper batsman and then, the captain of Indian Cricket Team. Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen playing the part of Dhoni on the big screen. Sushant has experimented a lot with his looks and body for the movie. It is even said that he had practiced Dhoni’s famous “helicopter shot” as we have seen in the trailers.

Along with Sushant, the movie will feature Anupam Kher , Gautam Gulati, Fawad Khan and Kaira Advani. John Abraham is said to have done a special appearance in the film. Well, given the fact that John and Dhoni are very good friends, the news was not at all surprising.

The trailer was officially launched in Amristar. Sushant and the whole cast were present on this occasion and the media was amazed when they saw Captain Cool himself present on the launch. Sushant shared his moments during the shooting of film and also teased Dhoni for his winning six in the World Cup 2011. Dhoni said he himself is pretty much excited for the movie. It is believed to be a promotional idea for the Captain to be present himself when the trailer is launched in Delhi and Mumbai.

The movie is a big project for Fox Studios as well as Director Neeraj Pandey, who seemed pretty relaxed with the good reaction at the trailer launch event. Fans are eagerly waiting for 30th September 2016, when the film hit the big screen. And as the poster said ” U know the man, but U don’t know the journey ” we hope you surely can’t miss this one at least.

“SLEEPING BEAUTY” and it’s not a folk-lore

0
maxresdefault

No one can deny the fact that the mummies are one of the most interesting and mysterious topic of this wrosalia-lombardo-palermoorld.

I mean starting from the revolution of pyramids, the mysterious Gods of Egypt, passing through the Pharaohs with the Great Nile and the mystifying and the enigmatic ways of preservation of the dead ones i.e., the mummies, awestruck everyone whose ear stand a witness to it.

And among all those the discovery of the “Sleeping Beauty” stands out of all. The near-perfect preserved mummy of this two year old girl is the best of all there attempts in the science of preservation.

Ninety years ago on December 6, 1920, Rosalia, daughter old Sicilian Official Mario Lombardo, died of pneumonia at the age of two. The father grieved but wouldn’t settle and hunted for Alfredo Salafia, a Sicilian professor of Chemistry to preserve her. After his days of research for a magical outcome, she was rested in the Capuchi Catacombs of Palemo in Sicily.

“Sleeping Beauty”, the title she earned was because of her near-perfect preservation in which she just looks like a living baby taking sweet nap. This enigmatic science behind this stayed under rocks until Salafia’s handwritten memoir was uncovered by anthropologists . It revealed that her blood was replaced with a formula that prevented the body from drying out killing bacteria. The chemistry translated to-“one part of glycerine, one part of formalin saturated with both zinc sulphate and chloride and one part of an alcohol solution saturated with salicylic acid.”

the-most-beautiful-mummy-in-the-world-and-its-mystery

To add to this there have been many facts or folklores coming up regarding this mystic mummy. Being a famous mummy it is visited often and researched upon and it was discovered how her eyes appeared to be opening. While some of them believe that this was related to child’s soul anomaly, many of them also gave practical explanations that-“It’s an optical illusion produced by the light that filters through the side windows, which during the day is subject to change.”

Even after such explanations, Rosalia will still remain one the most bewitching mummy out there.

College canteen

CollegeCanteen

College canteen ,College memories?

When this question arises to one’s mind, it would be the canteen of the college. Canteen is the busiest place on the college campus. Students attend fewer lectures and are often seen in the canteen.
When it comes to college canteen it is the best way where one can relax, for me canteen is the place where I met new people and enjoy with the old ones, celebrating birthdays, discussing about various projects, seminars, events and so much, I cannot think of college without my college canteen, it is that place which I visit the most it’s under the sun where everything is discussed from love sagas to fashion tips.
‘It was very important for us to visit the canteen every day. The place with no differences in seniority religion whatsoever, it buzzed 24/7 with all kinds of students we used to get our share of news from this place. The taste of masala dosas still lingers I must have eaten hordes of food after leaving the college but nothing has tasted so delightful yet And the time spent with my friends with no worries in my head was in the canteen something I would buy it back if it would be worth anything on this earth ’ Says Dr Priya Patil who was already nostalgic about her college.

Our college canteen is open to all from students to faculty to the other staff of the college. Sometimes we invent our so call ‘new dishes’ but also snacks, cold drinks, and Rice, curry. It also supplies tea, coffee, and sweets to the students and the teachers. There are good arrangements which make the place a better one to spend time. Canteen is surely a place where memories are building up for the future.

Technology Apocalypse

Technology

Cloud, recurring, habitual, elementary, simply put, the most natural thing there exists; in the sky, in every child’s drawings and in the smart phones that each of us possess.

Along with other amazing advancements, time has brought with it the gift of technology. It was called the greatest of God’s gifts after the gift of life. It gave man another dimension to life. Technology has definitely made life easier in ways we did not think possible. It has made communication easier, introduced us to virtual money, it has opened so many avenues with regard to health care, education, the environment and crime and emergencies. It’s become impossible to imagine a world without the benefits of technology. It’s a luxury that gives us the sense of comfort we cannot get otherwise.

It’s a given that each of you reading this article have thought of this at some given point of time;

Has technology actually been a boon? What has it come to now?

In terms of the relationships we have, in terms of the way we live our lives. Take for example, our most prized possessions, smart phones. The level of intimacy we share with them is more than we can ever imagine of having with a real human being! They even come to the toilet with us, can it get more adorable than that. There is probably a reason why the toilet has a door, and that reason could probably be that the viruses need to be contained. Taking our phones inside, helps the viruses travel and experience all the things we are experiencing. Would you rather give that privilege to a real human or the artificial intelligence that provides us with a false sense of control?
We’d rather post a sentence on somebody’s wall on Facebook, than pick up the phone, and dial their number to wish them a happy birthday. Opening an old album, going through those photographs, reminiscing with your loved ones is not something of frequent occurrence anymore; because everything is saved online, and well, the chances of going through what have now become archives are very low. Gone are the days when you could re-read letters and feel like you are being spoken to.

It’s all on what’s app now, because it gives us the godsend- reaction time. The dimensions of our problems have changed altogether, We’re afraid we won’t be seen as best friends on Snapchat, moreover, we’d rather know of an experience through the snapchat-stories than speak of it. And the list goes on.

Everything we do has become so mechanic, I fear whether anything is real anymore. In 2014, renowned British physicist, Stephen Hawking warned us of a time when the Earth could become inhabitable. He was probably right after all.

But then again, man created technology, technology didn’t create man. This is nothing that hasn’t been thought of earlier, but this is just my attempt to save what is left of our lives.

It’s a choice that has to be made, technology in life or life in technology.
