Mona Lisa

0
Mona Lisa

Over 500 years ago a man painted a woman. The man was Leonardo da Vinci , an Italian artist, inventor, genius, scientist, doctor and the result of his work was the portrait we now know as the Mona Lisa. Da Vinci spent almost a decade on it and it is one of the few works he actually finished.

Everyone knew this but probably very few know about the secrets behind this painting. Here, I enlist some of them…

  • It is rather a small painting(77×53 cm), painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1504 and 1519 as by the request of Mona Lisa’s husband, Francesco Del Giocondo.
  • Enigmatic smile:

2-3

The trick behind the “happy” part of her smile is based on low spatial frequency pattern. So if you are not directly looking at her mouth, her smile looks cheerful. But when you look directly at her smile, parts of it would disappear into the background. As a result, you’re never quite sure if she’s smiling or not.

  • Her eyes were drawn in such a way that they literally follow you when you move around. This is an optical illusion that can be achieved by special painting technique, “Silberblick” in Germany.3-4
  • There are also letters and numbers which can be seen very faintly in Mona Lisa’s eyes. The right eye features the letters “LV”, which more than likely stands for Leonardo da Vinci and the symbols in the left eye are a little harder to make out, but they appear to be the letters “CE” or the letter “B”.
  • Most people seem to live under the false assumption that Mona Lisa didn’t have eyebrows. But that’s not right. The painting originally had eyebrows and eyelashes but as time went by both of them eroded to the point where they aren’t even visible anymore.
  • Another thing most people don’t know is that there are actually two Mona Lisa’s (another is the Isleworth Mona Lisa). It was also drawn by Leonardo da Vinci, the master himself.

4-3

No one really knows why he drew another but most believe that he drew the second one so that he can have one for himself (he drew the original Mona Lisa for an Italian nobleman) and so he practiced all his techniques on it , to make sure that the original Mona Lisa will end up looking perfect.

Golden ratio monalisa-sacred-geometry

  • The math principle used in this painting is the ‘golden ratio’ which has been used as the guiding principle for many pieces of ancient art and engineering, including the Pyramids of Giza and da Vinci’s own rendition of The Last Supper.
  • Mirroring two halves of the painting and then adding subsequent layers and colours we can see the image of Alien and estimation of it being just above three feet tall.6
  • In the arch of the bridge in the background the number 72 can be seen. Or it might be an L and the number 2. Whatever, we don’t know what all these letters and numbers mean, but they’re definitely there, mysteriously hidden for over 500 years.
  • The painting was stolen in 1911 by an employee of the museum, but it was recovered two years later.
  • This painting has stood against at vandalism as well. It was damaged in 1956 near the left elbow, when someone threw a rock at it and in the same year another vandal threw acid at the bottom half, severely damaging the masterpiece.
  • In 1963, the Mona Lisa was appraised at $100 million for insurance purposes and the room that currently houses and protects the Mona Lisa costs $7.5 million to construct.
  • Leonardo Da Vinci died having never sold what was to become one of the world’s most famous paintings.

Embracing the Loneliness

Loneliness

Every time when someone laughs a lot, people say control your joy and laughter or else later on it will make you cry. Well you must be thinking, nothing of that sort will happen. But you never know, the chubby friend of yours who cracks joke all day may cry herself to sleep at night. May be the sayings are not wrong after all, they come from experience and are shared through maturity. As her mind grab thoughts that frightens her heart that is when the tear rolls down her eye. she is lying there thinking out aloud.

Embracing the Loneliness

When all that laughter echoed in my ears,

Eyes swelled up with all my tears.

When heart lost all its faith,

The mind was filled up with all the myth.

As I hopped all my way in the day,

I was now helpless lying in the hay.

In the bright light my lips always chirped,

Now in the dark they continuously shivered.

Gathered around people I’m glad and cheerful,

Now trapped in the loneliness I’m helpless and fearful.

I made my friends cry with laughter,

Now I ditch myself and deeply slaughter.

The warm blush of smile and happiness,

Now replaced with the warmth of my tears and heaviness.

Meanwhile I swallowed the best bite of food,

Now I swallow the lump of my mood.

As I was a loud big mouth,

Now I try to hide my breath sound.

All the calmness and serenity was around,

Now they all went away and creepiness surrounds.

As I wonder how everything can be so perfect,

The dreadful thoughts come over making me dejected.

As the days picture flashes in my eyes,

My tears soak the pillow and dry up acting really wise.

Another day begins with a bright smile like senora,

I try to hide all that pain with a slight mascara.

GRAMMY’S LOVE

GRAMMY
When I was a little girl, visiting my grandmother had always been an adventure for me she lived far away from my house but it didn’t stop me to peddle my cycle towards her abode which was certainly heavenly for me. I used to go all the way down to the village to meet her. I was bought up there, I was spoiled, fed and loved there. She was my real life, fairy god mother.
As humans, we have a way of growing up and forgetting the care that our parents and grandparents give us. We argue with them, break their hearts by some words that we don’t mean but in the heat of the moment just say it. I remember clearly it was a very hot time of the day when my mother came up to me and asked me to go and visit my Grammy. I instantly refused as  I had “way better” things to do but mother was as stubborn as me. I caved and decide to take my old bicycle for a ride to old Grammy’s place.
image source: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-some-names-for-grandmothers.htm#didyouknowoutMy Grammy had gotten really old now. She had started forgetting things and repeating the words she said. It had started to get on my nerves. That day after just sitting in the chair for almost an hour without uttering a single word I had asked her to make me some special Kheer of hers that I really liked. It was something I ate on all my special days. I even gave away Grammy’s special Kajoo Kheer as a return gift on my sweet sixteen. She was really ill a day before that but that woman still got up. Funny what love can make you do. When she got back with a glass bowl in her hand. I saw the color orange instead of white. She had made a Halwa rather than her Kajoo Kheer which somehow was unacceptable. I remember screaming at her.
Yelling and saying “This isn’t Kheer at least do something right Grammy.” I pushed the bowl aside and stormed out of the room. While riding my bicycle I suddenly came to my senses and thought about what I did. In the heat of the moment I forgot she had gotten old and weak. I screamed at her and left her all alone. That women didn’t even say a word to defend herself. I know I had broken her heart and she was shattered by the way I behaved I know she would’ve cried a lot after I left. When I was alone in my room my conscience woke up and I started regretting every word I said to her. I went to bed, pictured her in my mind and decided to visit her, first thing tomorrow morning.
When I reached my ‘Nani Ghar’ I saw her sitting there on the sofa that my late grandfather had bought her as her birthday gift. My grand father was a romantic even at the age of 65. She loved that sofa and sat on it to celebrate every emotion of hers. She was facing the fire wall and I couldn’t see her face, so I stood at the door and greeted her. There was a silence because she hadn’t replied. I thought to myself she might still be angry about yesterdays incident and now she is giving me the “silent treatment”. I decided to go on and keep apologizing. ” I know you are hurt Grammy I didn’t mean any of those things I said. I am sorry.” I said. Still there was no reply.
I told her ” I know you are furious right now but you don’t have to be silent . Go ahead scold me. I deserve that”. “But please don’t be silent I want to hear your voice.” “I want to hear your old lullaby that you used to sing to me and also the way you used to praise me “.”Speak to me and forgive me please“.
image source: http://www.gossipcop.com/demi-lovato-great-grandmother-dead-mourns-death-grandma-dies/I am sorry I spoke to you that way. “I shouldn’t have talked to my beloved Grammy in such a manner. I am really sorry.” I apologized and apologized and she didn’t even utter a word. I told her all the things she had taught me. To love the ordinary things in life, to cry when a puppy dies. To laugh when you stumble down a hill and to never hurt anyone. As tears rolled down my cheek while remembering my childhood  I ran to her chair and saw her eyes open with still a tiny tear inside it.
It seemed like an ocean had found a new place to reside in. She wasn’t blinking or breathing. It took me more than a minute to realize that she had gone. All this time I was talking to myself. Saying things -that I should’ve said much earlier- to my own self. She hadn’t heard a single word I said . I was shattered.
No matter what people tell me I know I was the reason she had gone. she had died from the worst possible thing. A Heartbreak.
I never got to say I am  sorry. I said things that I shouldn’t have. I regret that but I also know she was women with a big heart. she would’ve forgiven me that’s the only reason I have forgiven myself. I still remember her . I even inherited her special Kajoo Kheer recipe along with her chair which now soaks in all my emotions.
I LOVE YOU GRAMMY.

Journey called life is beautiful

0
JOURNEY

It is well said that the real experiences of a person are much more interesting than fiction. So here i am with an amazing experience of this young girl whose new in life and its somewhere so called ugly and complicated reality. Lets find out what happens to her.

The journey

A cute little kiddish girl with lots of aspirations who has just graduated found out to her utter disappointment that yes the people who seems close your so called friends with whom you have made several memories, they do change or actually its just that everyone these days is a bit more self centered she doesn’t have any idea about whether it is a good thing or bad but she was a bit different. She felt sometimes that she is just not meant to fit in. But fortunately she got a highly supportive family which meant the world to her.

She was blessed, they always guide her well, she trusted them and keeps following their valuable advises without a doubt. And after a long period of restlessness she finds her way out into a new world , a world similar to a roller coaster ride which has to unfold Its deep secrets for her. Life is realy simple but we insist on making it complicated.

And the journey continues

So by a new world i meant she found a job, a perfect one according to her. She was super excited. But soon it all seems like welcome to the hell , for first two days she wants to scream, cry loudly and all she wanted is to run away far from all the bullshitt. She founds  the atmosphere lonely, weird she felt as if she was stuck. The people were all into themselves, she started believing they are rude and hypocrites and living a superficial life. And yes for some specific people she developed this feeling of hatred. Never give up , stay positive, focused and strong.

An Urge of not to give up

oldeani0 / PixabayAnd she continued with this zeal to prove herself. Her passion drives her crazy to put in her best. She founds a solution that her complete focus in her work can somewhere help her out. And she proceeds further big dreams in her eyes and there she go. Everything in her life just twisted. Then she doesn’t required any sort of  support from anyone. She becomes an independent girl ready to fly high in the sky. To her astonishment she just rise in love with that place her work. She realised all the people at her work place are benevolent, cooperative, supportive and truly helpful. She again felt blessed to got such a marvelous atmosphere and a family in her fabulous colleagues. All the hatred just vanished , its all affection in her heart now.

The lessons

You know she learnt that everyone has their good and bad days. Might be when the people dint turn out good with her had their bad days or may be she beings a fresher was expecting too much from them. Basically she learnt that has to take one his own responsibilities. If you wants to fit it just hustle. Overnight success generally takes years of struggling, sleepless nights. She realised everyone help those who help themselves. Its OK not to be perfect, its OK if you do mistakes but its not OK to give up. And above all never stop trying. That’s just not allowed. She feels super excited every morning about going to her work place. And when she comes back she always have a new piece of information, an incredible experience.

Life is all about learning.

LEARNINGJust feel alive every moment, feel proud about it. Just think everyday you have to do your best its a new opportunity. So ultimately the thing is no one is actually bad its just that you have to learn to let go, everyone have their own reasons and story. Everyone worships the rising sun and as we all know world is a rat race And pigs don’t fly.

So either you win or lose  there is no value of a consolation prize. And yes not to forget she founds some extremely adorable people even in her days of struggling one motivates her heartily ,one is always  concerned about her and stands by her, one guides her and makes her feel good, and one sweet and cheerful guy literally immensely helped her, answer all her questions with great calmness. And last but not the least her boss , a handsome and charming  guy with an aura that inspires her.

cute-quotes-about-life-48A grounded person who know how to work with great ease in the most stressful environment, who has everything in right proportion, who knows when how where what to speak, how much to speak and when not to speak. He never forgets to give few minutes out of his precious time to this girl sometimes to guide her, sometimes to appreciate or ask about her experience. So see it depends on our perception now all the people at her work place turns out extremely winsome and lovable. She feels great about the fact that she got such outstanding people around her.

She is seeking great pleasure now in every moment, it makes her feel even more alive , she knows she is on the path of growth with all the support from both of her families and most importantly form her own self. The will to learn and the desire to make it best are one of the biggest assets that a person possess.

Always remember

00-59-32-life-quotes-01If you want more you need to become more, the better you become , the better everything around you becomes. Life is all about how you react to your problems, if you can react and act wisely then all your problems will turn into your solutions. You are the best part of your life, turn into a legend. And yes when things don’t go right remember it takes 6 months to build a Rolls Royce and just 13 hours to build a Toyota.

No matter how you feel get up , dress up and show up
Be the game changer………..

Of Fluency in English- The Why and How!!

4
speaking enlgish

The first important issue that one needs to understand is the importance of being fluent in speaking English. One may ask what is this fuss about English and why is our country so obsessed with it? Why cannot we promote Hindi which is the national language of our country? The British have gone leaving their culture behind. Are we still colonized? Is the slavery continuing in this form? My answer to this is:

  • English is not just the language of the British anymore. English is a universal language and one of the prominent languages of our nation as well. It is the only language that connects the entire world in one string. It is the only language that makes international communication possible.
  • On colonization and slavery- these are two very broad terms covering many aspects and perspectives so I would refuse to dig deep but no we are not colonized if just English language is taken into consideration.

Victimisation

speaking englishThe ones who are unable to speak fluent English are victims of condescending eyes.  It has also been observed that these days English is considered as the parameter of measuring intelligence. This kind of attitude is absolutely unacceptable. If one can speak good English, he is worthy of a job. If one cannot, then he stands nowhere in the competition. The first impression in an interview is created by one’s fluency in the language. Inability gives him the ticket to rejection no matter how worthy he is. The scenario does not limit itself to career lines. It has started infiltrating one’s personal life as well. Interactions in colleges, universities, social media, with friends and acquaintances become fruitful and healthy only if one is confident about one’s communication skills. It is not possible to change this status-quo to be practical, but it is possible to fight it.

Is our education system responsible?

You may wonder why is it that so many English-medium schools across the country have a majority of their children who have somehow learnt to write in English but are unable to speak fluently? Where else will they learn the language if not in schools? The truth is- if your child is unable to communicate well, it is not the school’s fault. Of the many rules and regulations the schools impose, one is to speak in English in the school premises. But it is practically impossible to monitor each student every moment. The students manage to talk in the language with their teachers, but the conversation with them is very limited. Unless they speak in English with their friends, they will never be fluent in the language.

But again, in most cases it is not possible practically. Friends speak with each other in a language they are comfortable with. Moreover, in their age nobody can think about the future consequences. No matter what language it is, reading and writing can only make you learn to read and write. Mastery over a language, be it any, can only be gained if it is spoken on a regular basis.

Some easy tips to enhance your efficiency in speaking English

  • Talk to others

address-callers-510You must speak in English as much as possible with whomsoever you can, throughout the day.

  • Talk to yourself

Now it is quite possible that your family members do not know the language themselves and your friends tease you on encountering this sudden resolution of yours. If you have no one with whom you can actually talk, then talk with yourself in English. In fact, you can also think in English. Whenever you are thinking about something- things that you have to do during the day, food that must be prepared, home works to be done, or anything and everything, make sure that every word should come to your mind in English.

  • Download dictionary

It is not possible to carry the hardcopy of a dictionary all the time. But all of us have cell phones. Download a dictionary app there. Now, there are many dictionaries that not only give you the meaning of the words but you can also hear the pronunciation. Merriam Webster dictionary has updated several features. It has features like ‘word of the day’ where they teach you the meaning of a new word everyday and ‘word games’ where you can play and learn simultaneously. Use Google, to translate words and dictionaries to learn their various synonyms.

  • Watch English films and TV series with English subtitles

This is one of the most effective way to enhance efficiency in English. You may think that you have been hearing English all your school life. Your teachers taught you all the subjects in English except vernaculars- 2nd and 3rd languages. Then what difference does it make? Well, it does make a difference. Hearing lectures on the battles fought, or description of a valley in some story, or the economic and social life of a tribe, or about weather changes, has taught you to write about those things. But when you watch a film, you hear how people do they everyday conversation with each other about the basic things in life, what we call ordinary chatting. Hearing them with English subtitles makes each word clear in case you face difficulty understanding their accent. It also teaches you pronunciation and spellings and improves your vocabulary.

  • Read newspaper

Reading habits should be inculcated from childhood. But if you have not, start now. Books and newspapers are the best means. But if you cannot buy books or do not know which books to buy then read only newspaper. Begin with reading simple news and gradually move to the heavier stuff. It will be immensely helpful.

So, these are some simple habits which can be developed by anyone. Not only a student, but people of any age and profession can learn English by these means. So, if you are a housewife and wish to learn English you don’t have to go for spoken English classes, or appoint a guide at home or buy expensive books. Such follow these steps and make a difference. Moreover, it is never too late to learn.
