Imprisoned Soul

Imprisoned Soul #I’m human being first

Before I start I want you to do this following things ;

Just imagine wherever you are going there is always an eye staring  you making weird faces even sometimes making fun of you, Not Cool isn’t it?

Now imagine you are not allowed to enter certain places like hotels, picnic spots or even some temples etc…Disappointing isn’t it?

Now lets imagine you have to leave your family, your beloved ones & your city and you have to stay to some other place ,no its ain’t hostel you have to stay there until you die..Sad isn’t it?

okay the last one, Now imagine you being as a Transgender what a transgender, what the hell I’m talking about, but yes the things I have asked you to do in beginning they were all for just a second still I know you have found it so absurd….But that is something faced by every transgender in our society everyday & that all was just few one I have listed there are many more….

You might be thinking why I’m telling all this, this is because today I have experienced something that really hit deep inside me making me so clueless I started interrogate myself “the society in which I live is it really full of humans or just they claim to be human?”

transgenderToday when I was in train on my way to work I saw a Transgender I found it lil weird because I saw a girl with her in school uniform  I went towards them, I asked her why this girl is with her  & her answer left me speechless she said ,” Beta I know why you are confused I had not kidnapped or done anything wrong with this girl…I found this girls left alone to die in a dustbin at the time she was born, I know what it feels like to be left alone as I have no one I’m stuck in this society but I’ll not let this happen with her from that day I had decided to nurture  this child educate her I’ll give her all happiness what she deserves ; she is my daughter I’m not her biological mother still there is something that ties me with her & I guess that’s “humanity” I’m human first than a transgender “ as her one sided conversation ended all I could do was simply smile& said I really respect & appreciate what she is doing, until I could speak anything else their destination arrived that lil girl wave me a-byee” and they went away. I wonder in world where no one wants a baby girl that transgender is nurturing a girl even though she has nothing Strange isn’t?

Today  we talk about “Equality” we want equality in everything equality in speech, equality in freedom of equal access to social goods and services, We talk about men women equality , a term “feminism” is getting common now-a-days it’s the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. We all are fighting for our rights since very long time and we have achieved somewhat but have we taught about the transgender who are dealing with lots of difficulties too but they don’t have anyone to fight for them they can’t even complaint for that there are certain laws for them but they are not enough even they too deserves a lot. There are some transgender who are appreciated for incredibly doing fantastic in many fields we have to encourage more of them. In many countries lots of laws have been made legal for the transgender now its time to bring a change in our society too because being A Transgender is secondary they are a Human begin first.

Disarming stereotypes

2

Has it ever occurred to you that probably you are born in the wrong community? Like you are a Punjabi but should have been born in a Bengali family or a Bengali but your heart goes out to Tamils? India does have variegated and rich cultures but have we been able to accept and respect this beautiful diversity? In metropolis like Mumbai, the strength of those judgmental Indians could be less compared to the rest of India. I am basically addressing this article to the struggling, confused and desperate youth of our country who are torn between the choices they want to make for themselves and the choices their community makes for them through their parents and family.

I am a Marwari and I am not studying commerce. I am not doing CA or MBA or CFA or CS or any of those money making degrees. When distant relatives come to my place they ask me what am I doing? Is it CA or MBA? Some go as far as assuming I must have cleared CPT or IPCC (1st two stages of the three of the Chartered Accountancy course) and they ask me when are my finals due? When I tell them I am not studying commerce their pitying glances initially used to make me furious but now I pity their narrow visions. I remember one incident when I told one of my cousins that I am studying arts, English literature to be precise, and she was appalled. Her spontaneous response was, and I quote her, “par tum to padhai mein achi thi?” which translates as “but you were good in studies?” It was a rhetorical question.

What is your priority in life

There are thousands of other students like me who want to break such stereotypes but do not have the courage to. If you are a Marwari and all your Marwari friends are studying commerce and your family wants you to follow their footsteps but you feel you are not meant for it then don’t go for it. If you are a Bengali and your family wants you to do engineering or study arts but you have the business streak in you then go for it! There are countless students who follow the herd under pressure from the family or otherwise.  But think about it, even you end up successfully completing the course which you were never meant for, what is going to happen?

You will work 30 days a month. You will be ecstatic on one of those days when your handsome salary gets deposited in your account, but what about the 29 days? Will your grill yourself in and out, sweat and bleed for something that makes every single pore in your body unhappy? Have you come to this world to live an unhappy life trying your best to please others and dance at their approval of your choices in life? Countless incidents have been recorded where students go into depression because of the pressure or because of failure. How many people in our country can say that they love their jobs? Most don’t love the job, they just love the money that the job generates at the end of the month.

Be a ruler and conquer your own world

India is a country with the population of a billion. Imagine the amount of talent that this country is literally blessed with. Then why do so few people opt for music, photography, wildlife studies, astronomy, pet grooming, food criticism or any of those unconventional career lines? Some will blame the education system which focuses more on rote learning and teaches you how you can and should become a doctor or an engineer, some may put forward a rational argument stating what kind of careers will one have even if one decides to take their passions that seriously.

Yes, I am not a counselor and I cannot answer for everyone. In many cases finance or something else does become a major issue but my experiences in life have taught me that there still are innumerable students who can excel in something they love to do but they are scared of the society. This article is for them. I read these lines somewhere and they are etched in my memory “You’ll waste a lot less time worrying about what others think of you if only you realized how seldom they do.”

Your passion may not be something grandiose. It could be as simple as being a pre-primary teacher because you love children or being a cook in a restaurant because you love to cook. You may not get some national award or a ‘Michelin star’ for doing what you are doing. But you just have one life to live. It is you who is going to decide whether you want to live for yourself or to appease those relatives and friends who have their own lives screwed up. They will never applaud your efforts no matter what you do. And even if they do, it shouldn’t matter. Happiness is a decision, a choice. It may not pop out of the blue but it will come tip-toeing in your life and settle under your roof!

I WANT YOU

6

We all need that one person who can calm us in every situation. When you know you are shattering, you are breaking, you are collapsing, you want that someone to pick up all of your pieces and join them to form a completely new and beautiful you. When there comes a time when you can’t think of anything and just give up on life, you want that person to become your muse so that you can start living again, so that you can start thinking again, and so that you start dreaming again. When you start losing confidence in yourself, you want that someone to have confidence in you in order to get your confidence back. When your life is surrounded by complete darkness, you want that someone to assure you that everything will be fine again.

So, here’s a short poem which portrays all of these emotions. Enjoy. ☺

When I’m falling apart and life’s a complete mess,

I want you then to hold me tight..

When I can’t sleep due to ruined thoughts and feel very restless,

I want you to hug me in the middle of the night..

When my world is surrounded by complete darkness,,

I want you to assure me that everything’s gonna be alright..

In times of sorrows, in the hardships of life,,

I want you to stand by my side..

In life’s cruel maze when I get caught,,

I want you to show me the path which is right..

When my world is surrounded by complete darkness,,

I want you to assure me that everything’s gonna be alright..

When no one believes me and I feel low,,

I want you to stand with me and fight..

When there seems to be a confusion everywhere,,

I want you to be my lovely guide..

When my world is surrounded by complete darkness,,

I want you to assure me that everything’s gonna be alright..

For your presence is all I need my love,,

I can change the world if you stay by my side..

I can change the world if you stay by my side..

I hope you guys liked the poem and enjoyed reading it. Let me know in the comments section below.

Thank you ☺

Is time travel possible

2

Time travel’s been one of man’s wildest and fascinating fantasies for centuries. There are some ancient myths that depicts skipping forward in time. In Hindu mythology, the Mahabharata mentions the story of King Raivata Kakudmi, who travels to heaven to meet the creator Brahma and is shocked to learn when he returns to Earth that many ages have passed.

Is actually time travel possible?  Let’s start with the bad news. We probably can’t travel back in time and watch the Egyptians build the pyramids. In the last century scientists came up with a number of theories that suggested it is indeed possible to take a leap into the future; going back in time, unfortunately, is much more complicated.

Fuelled by Hollywood and overly active imaginations. There’s more than few of us that either believe or want to believe that one day we could travel to another place in time.

In fact some people say there’s a lot of photographic evidence to prove the existence of time travellers. From out of place, people and objects to celebrity doppelgangers from the past, are these evidence of time travellers or just over-active imaginations?

Jennifer Lawrence:

time travel

Jennifer Lawrence has been The’ actress in Hollywood for the past five years. She is a versatile actress known for her roles in ‘Winter’s Bone,’ ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘X-Men’ and ‘Joy.’ She won an Oscar for her role in ‘Silver Linings Playbook.’

But what about before that?

If you’re into time travel then she was actress “Zubaida Tharwat”, an Egyptian film, stage and television actress. We hypothesise that Thawart, looking to break into American cinema changed her name to more common Jennifer.

Looking into last name, who’s a famous westerner to have spent a great deal of time in Egypt? – Lawrence of Arabia.

Vladimir Putin:

vladimir-putin-immortalVladimir Putin is a Russian politician who is the current President of the Russian Federation, holding the office since 7 May 2012. He rides horses shirtless, hunts tigers and finds ancient treasure. Yes, we are talking about Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

If these pictures are anything to go by then he

potentially possesses the power of time travel.

While some have argued he is immortal, similar to Russian version of Captain America, time travel believers aren’t so sure. Instead, they think Putin has used his time travel ability to show up in some of the bumpiest periods of Russia’s history to help alter the course of history.

Jay-z:

jaycloseup615Shawn Carter was born in Brooklyn, New York and has gone on to become a superstar Rapper and producer better known as Jay-z.

This is the picture taken in the Bronx in 1933 which has captured the image of a man looks more than a little like the superstar. Just a Doppleganger or evidence of time travel?

Michael Cera:

michael-ceraWe are not done with potential time travelling celebrities yet. A man looking just like Superbad actor Michael Cera was emerged in 1930s Germany. This picture, taken in 1930’s Germany suggests some pretty big things.

First the Canadian actor travelled back in time as a spy to infiltrate the Nazi organization or Michael Cera is actually a traveller from the past, sent forward in time to infiltrate Hollywood.

Andrew Basiago:

Andrew Basiago, a lawyer from Seattle claims that as a child he was subjected to government experiments, as part of project Pegasus, that saw him travel back in time to periods which included Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg address

in 1863.

hqdefault-2

The proof? Basiago claims he is the child pictured in the centre of this photograph taken at Gettysburg. He also claims he was at Ford’s theatre the night Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

The Hipster:

This is the picture taken in British Columbia Canada in the 1940’s, some think the tall sunglasses wearing man is clearly a time traveller.

maxresdefaultHe’s wearing new wave sunglasses, what appears to be a T-shirt and he’s holding a portable camera. Turns out the sunglasses were unusual but not unknown at the time, the Tee was a letter sweater, and the camera was a Kodak Folding Pocket model. After all, he stands out like a sore thumb in the crowd. Experts say that everything he is wearing is period appropriate. So the question that remains is – Have we found a true time traveller or just an original Hipster?

A factory worker:

In 2013 footage emerged, taken at a dupont factory in Massachusetts in the 1930s.

time-travel-1930The short video showed workers exiting the plant and one of them talking into what appeared to be a cell phone. How this be explained?

There were no cell towers at this time and radio communications still required large bulky sets. Some have said it’s a hearing aid. This is plausible except no one seems to be talking to her while she is the one talking into the device.

Charlie Chaplin Time Traveller:

An extra piece of footage from Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film “The Circus” appears to show a woman talking on a cell phone. This video has perplexed people since it became available several years ago.

motorola

Sceptics argue that woman is merely using an ear trumpet or some other hearing aid which was widely available during that time. After all, ‘She’ is talking but there is no one around her in the clip.

Menstrual taboos and myths in India

6

Menstruation has been a unique phenomenon for the girls over a period of years. However, this particular topic has always been surrounded by myths and taboos in India. Why? Why is it a big deal to talk about it in front of people or with the male community of our society? We have been talking about how menstruation is a huge taboo in our country and almost turned a deaf year towards it.

What is menstruation? It is a natural reproductive cycle in which the blood from the uterus exits the body from the vagina. It is a natural process that occurs within the girls from the age group of 11-15 years. Taboos and myths about menstruation have always kept the females away from many aspects of social and cultural life. Culturally in many parts of India, menstruation is still considered to be dirty and impure.

Myths related to menstruation in India

Stay away from the daily routine

According to the Hindu faith, women are not allowed to participate in normal life routine while menstruating.

Pure or impure

She must ‘purified’ before she is allowed to get back to the day to day chores of life. However, scientifically it is known that the actual cause of menstruation is ovulation followed by the missed chance of pregnancy that results in bleeding from the endometrial vessels. Therefore for me, there seems no notion to exist whether ‘pure’ and ‘are impure’.

Visiting temples or entering the kitchen

Not entering the ‘puja’ room or temples is the major restriction among the urban girls. Whereas not entering the kitchen is the main restriction seen among the rural girls. Scientifically, the reason behind the restrictions are that the body loses an excess amount of blood during menstruation, which leads to a weaker immune system compared to other days. Thus women and girls are asked to stay indoors and let their body relax during the few days of every month.

Maintain distance

Menstruating women are not allowed to offer prayers and restricted from touching the holy books, all because of the underlying myths of ‘impurity’.

Food contamination

It is further believed that menstruating women are unhygienic and unclean and hence the food they handle gets contaminated or even chances of being poisoned.

Do not touch pickles

People also believe that during menstruation the female body emits certain rays or smell, which turns preserved food to rot. Thus, they are not allowed to touch sour foods like pickles. Whereas no scientific test has shown menstruation, as the reason for spoilage of food.

Diet restrictions

In some parts of India, strict dietary restrictions are also followed. During menstruation, such as food like curd; pickles and tamarind are often avoided by menstruating females. Because it is believed that these food products will disturb or stop the menstrual flow.

Washing on the third day

Girls during their menstruation should wash their bed sheets and clothes on the third day. They must also shampoo their hair on the third day itself. The scientific explanation is that the flow of the blood is high on the first three days; therefore it’s better to get everything cleaned.

Basil plant

Basil plant is considered to be holy in the Hindu culture. Hence girls during menstruation are not allowed to touch the holy plant. They cannot let their shadows fall on the plant during this time, else the plant dies according to the belief. Whereas, science shows no such results.

Menstrual blood is different from regular blood –

Blood is blood and there is no such term called the menstrual blood or the regular blood. There’s nothing wrong with the blood during menstruation. Educate yourself before jumping to conclusions.

All these are popular Hindu myths relating to menstruation that has been down the generations. Some Hindu myths have a logical explanation behind them, but some don’t. So always judge what is right and act accordingly. Rather than blindly following the myths and carrying them from generation to generation, educate yourself and others about menstruation. These deep-rooted myths and taboos need to be eradicated from our society. There is a lot to talk about this topic. But, just talking won’t help. Stop talking and start acting wisely and in a much more sensible manner.

educating

First; if a woman menstruates, she gets secluded and isolated from her day to day chores and even worse treated as an untouchable. Second, if she doesn’t menstruate the society calls her barren and secludes her though! What exactly is the reason behind this is still a question that is unanswered to me.
