Drifter’s complicated love story

6

Drifter is one who is unstoppable at one single place for a long time. A new twist comes into the drifter’s life when they fall in love. Love does not happen with planning, it just happens and changes the life completely.

About a young drifter –

This drifter was not a chocolaty flirty type. She was an adventurous young lady who just loves to travel without any boundation. She used to have crushes in her college time but never fell in love because she doesn’t know what love is. Her thinking was that no one is going to love her. She always used to think that guys are dogs and they just want a body and heart to play with. But you never get anything which you expect because God always has some new different plans for you which might be bitter in starting but always have a beautiful sweet ending. In the college time, she visited many different countries too and there she met many interesting people too but as always, she didn’t get that spark which one gets after seeing that special smile.

Drifter's complicated love story

The trip which leads to love –

She went to leh (a tourist place) with her friends on a mountain bike then due to the heavy storm she lost her route and then she stopped nearby dhaba in the chilling weather. Her fingers were freezing and she was shivering. She couldn’t drive anymore and asked help from a local guy. When he was giving her ride on the bike then she fell asleep on his shoulder because of the tiredness.

On the very next day when she woke up from the beautiful sleep then she found herself in the different room and in the different clothes. She freaked out when she saw a guy making tea in his boxers. She misinterpreted the scenario and just directly headed towards him and slapped him without even saying the reason because there was a misconception in her mind that he raped her. He didn’t know how to react, he tried to explain, but she wasn’t ready to listen. His mother rushed to the room as she heard her, screaming and tried to control her by explaining the truth. She was guilty and felt sorry for her behaviour.

Later on, she started to come to his house daily for the cup of hot tea and the long conversations between those two people while staring at the stars, became usual. At a time of beautiful sunset that handsome hunk proposed her while they were roaming on the mountains on the mountain bike. First, she hesitated to accept the proposal but then she wasn’t able to resist from him and fell in love with his glittering eyes and a heavy manly voice. Her thinking changed regarding the boys after meeting him. Everything was going beautifully like a fairy tale.

A new twist in her life –

But the problem started when one night in a hotel bar she met her boyfriend’s friend. By mistake, the phones of these two got exchanged and they both saw a pic. You must be wondering that what is there in the pic which freaked them out and how their lives got a new turn. Actually, that pic was their childhood pic licking ice-cream and teasing each other. What is this now? Who is this new guy? Basically, this guy was her childhood best friend till 5th class but she didn’t realize that she loves him till she saw that picture in his mobile. So, just imagine her condition now.

She used to think that no one is going to love her back but now 2 guys are waiting for her. Her heart was on fire because she is with another guy now. So, she decided to clear everything out because she doesn’t want to hide anything from anyone like a coward. But no one wanted to hear her and just wanted her to stay with them forever. She is like a kite which wants to fly away but love is that thread which is not letting her go. She is in a dilemma because she can’t make any promises to anyone and doesn’t know what is right and what is wrong. Her heart used to beat for both of them and choosing one was not an option for her. No one can understand her. They just want to lock her in their hearts.

So, she just flew away from that place again because her first and only true love are drifting from one point to point which gives her inner peace and helps her to live a new life again. She has one satisfaction that she finally found her old best friend and she was gratified when she came to know that he was also waiting for her and loved her. These people will always be there in her heart for sure.

love is beautiful –

Because for loving a person you don’t need that person to be with you always. They always stay in your heart no matter they love you or not or are with you or not. Drifters always face many consequences in the love because they can’t commit to staying. If anyhow God wants them to meet again then surely one day while traveling itself they will meet and their love story will also be completed.

Love is very beautiful and it makes your heart stronger when it is shattered and at the same time your life just becomes more beautiful and you always try to find love in every small cause. You just can’t see anything more clearly because except him no one is visible to your eyes. Every person who is in love wants to grow with their loved one only. Don’t afraid of the broken heart and just fall in love. Be carefree and careless and enjoy this age because it is never going to come back.

How to Develop an Idea into a Great Story?

0

There is no shortage of Ideas in this world. Eight out of ten people you meet, would likely boast about their Ideas. This is the nature of Ideas; they charge you and fill you with charisma. The challenge is not during the creation of any Idea, but the efforts required for its development into a great story. A great story, that sells. Authors and Writers all over the world possess millions of Ideas, yet not many are able to make it through to the novel standard. Is your Idea good enough to be considered? Is it worth someone else’s precious time? Even before we start getting into How to develop an Idea into a great story, first we need to define the foundation and get our thoughts in order.

When I started writing, every other day I would get tens of different Ideas. Some appealed to the sufferings of the poor, others reflected the miseries of the rich. There were times when I got immersed into the emotional tracks of thoughts but never actually got into the next development process. How do you start a story? Depending upon your Idea; whether your objective revolves around teenagers or children or people working in their offices; various methodology can be adopted. However, there are few steps which you must take in order to develop a great story. The delicacy and importance of this process cannot be ignored.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””] Imagine the main character of your story as if he/she were real[/beautifulquote]

Get Your Cards Organized:

So you have an Idea for your next novel and you are beginning to start the story development process. The First task that every writer should undertake is to get his/her cards organized. If yours is a story with a social message, then cleanly write down the message as precise as possible before moving further. Imagine the main character of your story as if he/she were real. Can you trigger a conversation with the main character? This is the part where you define some of the most important parts of your story. This also includes – important locations which appear in the story, people who matter the most, the basic emotions which lay the core structure for the story, and many more. Once you have a clear stream of vision on WHAT EXACTLY YOU WANT, then you can move on to the next step.

Imagine Your Fictional World:

Imagine Your Fictional World

Now that you have a clear view of all the characters, the locations, the abstract layers that govern the foundation of your story; imagine it all. I know many writers would want to jump to the first chapter of the story at this point, however it is a good practice to rehearse the play before directing one. Our mind is a powerful tool and at times like this, it must be used. Have your first scene be enacted upon in your mind; observe as your story comes to life. This would be the first opportunity for you to see your Idea developing into a great story.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””] Our mind is a powerful tool and at times like this, it must be used.[/beautifulquote]

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone:

As writers, we are great procrastinators. Once the first scene comes clean, we might feel a little worked up. Relaxing is not the best option rather an escape route. Get out of your comfort zone and schedule your daily routine around the work. If the character isn’t responding well, put in your efforts and make it work. If the style doesn’t appeal to the reader, invest more creativity so the idea suits the content.

Lose your Sanity and Think Free:

Think Free

When working on developing an Idea into a great story, you might face a situation where the old known tactics won’t work. The methods or plans you had in mind in order to develop the story sometimes don’t come out on paper well enough. In such cases, feel free to explore insane practices; think out of the box. Adapting a new way will give you more opportunities and open up the gates for other ideas to flow in, so you can choose better.

Know that you will Fail as well:

A smart and wise writer knows that he will fail as well. If you think you were born to win, you are fooling yourself and the world. Each and every person who strives to make his dream come true must face the fact that life offers equal share of happiness and sorrow. Neglecting this simple fact can affect your mindset and ultimately the story.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]As writers, we are great procrastinators.[/beautifulquote]

Practice the Idea yourself:

Say your idea involves developing habits which every person alive today must undertake and practice. When your idea is derived on human values and principles, always start with yourself. Experiment the pros and cons by adapting the habit into your own life. This is the perfect way to ensure that the benefits from the story help people in reality. This act of self-experimentation will help boost your self-confidence and reflect the positiveness in your words when you write the story.

Ask questions against your idea:

No one is perfect. Even the legendary actors, painters, singers, writers and musicians have accepted this ideology. Be open to criticism, both from the family, friends and especially from yourself. Question your creation, feel free to object the role of a character from third person’s point of view. Ask your friends and relatives to rate your work or share a small review. This will help you cross out all the possible negative influences over the story and rebuild the broken ribs in the framework of your story.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]A smart and wise writer knows that he will fail as well.[/beautifulquote]

Wait before publishing, edit it again and again:

Plan Your Patience

Once you have your final draft ready, don’t publish it immediately. Always wait for a couple of months from your estimated date of release and let the thoughts of idea and your story be overtaken by other stream of thoughts in your life. When your mind is completely focused on something else and not thinking about the story, read your story. This is your final editing stage where you read and analyze your story; compare the story with the original idea. Make the necessary changes and you are good to go.

Finally, when everything feels perfect, release your story to the world. These steps when followed honestly and with dedication will lead you to transforming your ideas into some of the greatest stories ever written.

0

Have you ever been cheated by your partner? All that trust, belief and love suddenly disappears and you feel really horrible. These days, it seems like every person has fallen victim to an unfaithful partner. It is always advisable not to forgive a person who cheated on you because the person not only cheated but also didn’t care about the trust you had on him. 1. You will forever be worrying about it happening again.

10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

Once your partner cheats on you it will be difficult for you to show the same trust and belief again. Forgiving him is almost as good as giving him the green signal to repeat the same mistake again. You will always look at him in suspicion and will always wonder where he is and with whom he is with.

2. Things can only go downhill from here.

10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

If you break up then you can definitely have a fresh start and move on but if you take him back then it’s just that you are prolonging your pain. Things will deteriorate and will get worse due to arguments, misunderstandings, recriminations etc. It’s only a matter of time before you end up your relationship. So basically it’s no point in prolonging a false relationship.

3. He’ll never respect you again.10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

If he had respected you and the relationship then he would have never thought of cheating you. If you decide to take him back in your life then it will definitely set a wrong example for others and he will feel like it’s okay to walk all over you. He will never respect you and will go on repeat the same mistake in future.

4. You lose your own self-respect.10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

It’s important for a girl to take firm and bold decisions. If you take back a cheater it shows that you are ready to compromise at any cost. By doing this you will only lose your own self-respect and it would encourage your partner to repeat the same mistake again and again. It’s no point in compromising with a cheater.

5. The relationship will never be the same again.

Cheater Back
Crisis in relationship

When your partner cheats you, it will be difficult for you to trust him again. There will be trust issues every time and the whole equation of your relationship will change. So think carefully do you really need all these stuffs in your life?

6. You deserve better.10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

Even if you break-up with your partner then it’s not that you will stay alone forever. There will be definitely someone for you who will love you the most in the world and will care for you the most. There will be definitely someone who will never break your trust and your happiness will matter him the most. He will go to any extent just to bring a smile on your face. So never let that guy go from your life.

7. They don’t really love you.10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

If your partner cheated you then it is a clear indication that he was never serious in the relationship. It suggests that your partner was never interested in your love because it is impossible for a person to hurt the person whom you love the most in the world. So it will be a very big mistake if you take back such type of people in your life.

8. They will continue to lie.10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

The person who cheated you just doesn’t deserve a second chance. The person who went on to break your trust once will definitely do the same in future. So it’s better to choose a genuine as life partner.

10. You could be risking your health.

10 Points Why You Should Never Take A Cheater Back?

There is certainly a lot of tension and mental stress in a false relationship. There will be regular arguments and misunderstandings which will definitely take a toll on your brain. It’s better to walk out of such a relationship because mental stress is all about risking your own health.

MAN V/S (EARTH/MAN) ?

0

Fun fact- Planet Earth is 4.5 billion years old and mankind about 140 thousand years old. Let me put that in perspective. If you condense the earth life time into a 24 hour that’s one full day than we have been here on this planet for 3 seconds… just 3 seconds and look what we have done. We have modestly named ourselves homo sapiens meaning wise man but is man really so wise? Smart, yes and it’s good to be smart but not too smart for our own good.

Yes, we have split the atom, we created the special machines that navigate the universe in search of new homes but at the same time the atoms that we split created nuclear warfare. In our quest to explore the galaxy we reject and neglect the home that we have here now. No, now that can’t be wisdom. Wisdom is different. Wisdom listens but we willingly cover our ears to mother nature’s screams and close our eyes to all of her help wanting signs. Wisdom knows that every action has an equal and opposite reaction so if we were wise we would not be shocked to see storms that are stronger than ever before or more drought, hurricanes or rapid fire than ever before because there is more pollution than ever before, more carbon, more trees are cut down than ever before.

At a rapid pace we have increased the extinction of animals by one thousand times than the normal rate. In the next 10 to 100 years every beloved animal in a child’s book is predicted to go extinct, lions gone, rhinos gone, tiger, gorilla gone, elephant, polar bear gone in 3 seconds. Species that have been here longer than us would be gone because of us in these 3 seconds. In an existence shorter than a vine video, we turned the circle of life into our own personal conveyor belt. Somebody, anybody, help. We were given so much, the only planet in the solar system to have life. I mean we are one in a million. No actually, scientifically we are one in a billion million trillion that is 1 followed by 33 zeroes.

MAN V/S (EARTH/MAN) ?

I don’t want to get too spiritual but how are we are not a miracle. We are perfectly positioned to the sun so we don’t burn but not too distant so we don’t turn to ice. We are just right, living in this paradise where we are given medicines from trees not coincidentally but because like the song says ‘We Are Family’. Literally, everything, every species is connected genetically from the flower to the fish and this is what we must recognize before it’s too late because the real crises are not global warming or environmental destruction or animal agriculture. It’s us, these problems are symptoms of us, byproducts of us… our inner reflection, loss of connection has created this misdirection. We have forgotten that every day contributes to the perfection of mother nature.

Cooperation has kept us unaware and disconnected but they have underestimated our strength. Millions are waking up out of their sleep saying our home have been taken from right under our feet. We can’t allow our history to be written by the wicked greedy and loony. It is our duty to protect our mother nature from those who refuse to see her beauty. Call me crazy but I believe that we should have the right to eat safe food with ingredients we can produce, drinking water that is clean, breathe air free of toxins. These are natural rights and not the things that can be bargained for in conquest. See they want you to feel powerless but it has been said that something as small as the feather of a butterfly wing can cause a typhoon. Half way around the world where if enough people come together, we too would make waves and watch the world turn into a new era… feel love and connection, freedom for all without a question but it is up to you. Yes, you, reading this article on this screen, take action because time is of the essence and only together can we make it to the

Happiness : Lost and Found

0

Sometimes staring at the ceiling can tell you more things than any encyclopedia! As a progeny of the 21st century there are things that I have observed. We laugh at jokes not because they are funny but because they are supposed to be laughed at. We do not listen to others because we care but we do it because friends are supposed to care. We do not like a particular type of music because we relate to it but because we are supposed to like it- it is trendy, it is new, it has beats and that’s enough.

Well Mr. Ceiling asked me “Are people happy because they are or is it because they are supposed to be?” I was as confused as you are right now.  How can we even make out if a person is happy or not? If I see someone laughing their intestines out or having tons of jokes to share, does that mean they are happy? Why do great comedians like Robin Williams and Freddie Prinz have to undergo depression and commit suicide? Do we often link having fun to being happy? How often are we really happy?

Happiness : Lost and Found

It is true that we often consider happiness to be a goal but there are no real recipes for it. It does not come with a guarantee card and it definitely is not constant. It’s  human tendency, I feel, that we want happiness to be constant and we seek for help through telling jokes, alcohol and celebration. Our desperate attempts to laugh a little more or find ecstasy do not succeed at all times. Jokes are supposed to make you laugh; clowns in the circus and comedians are paid to make you laugh; dancing wildly takes away all worries for some time and alcohol can make you do things which you will not remember next morning. Unfortunately, life is not a big party or a circus where one can escape from their worries.

But there are happy faces and none of their smiles resemble the smiles we give for selfies-

Happiness : Lost and Found

Have you ever seen a mother cook with a slight smile in her face and humming a tune? Do you remember rushing to your father when he came home after work? Do you remember your grandmother knitting while listening to the radio? Have you seen two newlyweds look at each other?

These might be momentary but are true. They come out from what we weave in the fabric of life and the bliss comes from within. Real, non-desperate, content and unpretentious smiles. Don’t we all want that? Let us clear things out-

Happiness v/s Being Funny

You must have heard the quote “The funniest people are sometimes the saddest.” It is true that humour sometimes becomes a mean to escape from our fears, deal with our weaknesses and hide our discomforts. It becomes our defense mechanism to make us feel that we are alright. But how far does it help? I have already talked about Robin Williams who no comedian could tackle but despite of all that he had and could do, he fell prey to his own life.

A big laugh and a big joke are all momentary. Happiness comes with the feeling of contentment and satisfaction. Jokes are a game of wits, puns and irony that feeds the intellect and tickles the vision of it. Happiness makes life worth living. I am not saying that jokes are disposable but what is life if there is never any long-term satisfaction with the people we care and passion that adds more meaning to life? We must move towards making life more meaningful rather than forcibly dipping in adventures where we are supposed to laugh or enjoy.

The ‘more’ is not always the ‘better’

Happiness : Lost and Found

I feel the concept of “The more the better” is too ingrained in the 21st century people. The more money the better, the more friends the better, the more ‘likes’, ‘comments’ the better, the more expensive the better. I remember my class teacher saying- “The more money you have, the higher the wall in your house is.” We always want to satisfy ourselves with more and more of everything and are in grief when we cannot achieve them. Grass is always greener on the other side but miseries are a part of everything.

Happiness does not necessarily come from having so many friends. It may simply come from one friend whom you can call at 3 am after being woken up by a bad dream. We must remember that we are not here to win something every second of our life. It is not an achievement to have this number of friends or this much of marks or money. Life is a journey and not a competition. We must learn to appreciate what we have and learn to accept what is not in our reach.

Accepting the reality

Happiness : Lost and Found

The bitter truth is life will never be free of problems. The key is to be strong but at the same time we must be a part of magical moments of life. We must equip ourselves mentally to not get drowned in all of our tribulations. Betrayal by a friend, failure in a subject, not having a perfect body cannot be the end of the world. Sure, it hurts but does not necessarily have to keep on hurting forever.

It is all about getting up and accepting the reality- life is not perfect. So, we must come in terms with life and accept whatever it gives us. With whom are we to bargain what we want and do not want in life?  It becomes much easier to deal with problems when we know we can solve them. Ah! That smile of self-confidence and self reliance! There is bliss when you know small things cannot touch you.

Therefore, let’s not waste time in searching for happiness when it comes on its own. Let us not rush but skip in the garden of simplicity. Let us not pretend but learn to smile at ourselves when we look at the mirror.

WHEN THE TOUGH GETS TOUGHER

With a drastic increase in the number of smartphone users in the recent past, almost everything from bureaucratic applications to buying groceries have gone online, without a doubt. The field of transportation too, took it to the specially developed mobile applications to promote their services like online transportation networks such as Ola and Uber.

A sudden introduction of mandatory auto meters and increased awareness among the public itself shook the auto men with a gradually falling income. Given that, the digitalization of booking auto rickshaws and cabs online with relative advantages of door-step pick up, very low prices etc, diverted commuters to take up the ‘Smart’ path.

On being quizzed about the effect that the digitalized transport barons have created on them, one unanimous complaint was a sharp fall in income. “Before all of this came by, I used to earn about 1500 a day. But now, I earn less than five hundred a day. That money also gets over by spending on food itself.  Financially, it is really tough for us” felt a Benga luru-based automan.

Moreover, most of the auto drivers refuse to tie up with Ola or Uber if given a choice for varied reasons. “ (Firstly,) the lower and middle clsses are not much aware of these app-based transportation systems. They cannot adjust with them. This will work out only for a few people. My income has surely dropped a bit but it is manageable. “ said Ravi, a sales-man turned auto driver.

“ I would still not prefer to tie up with Ola or Uber because if I had a car, I’d probably get some incentives. But there are none such for auto drivers. Over and above, we will have to pay a commission to them. Although they get a lot of commuters the income earned by an auto driver is very low there. My friends had tried that out” he added.

WHEN THE TOUGH GETS TOUGHER

Another set of important problems faced by the autowalas who aspire to join these digital transport barons are that, neither do they have the money to buy a smartphone nor know to operate them properly, and, they will be demanded to pay five hundred to thousand rupees as a deposit even before they start their job. A few of them were unwilling to tie up with the tech-savvy transport organizations mainly because of these two reasons. Some of them were even ready to join hands with the latter of these problems were addressed.

Love yourself – love your body !

You are more than the number on the scale. You are more than the number on your jeans and dresses. You are way more than the number of pounds you’ve gained or lost in whatever amount of time.
Weight is defined as the quantity of matter contained by a body or object. Weight does not define your self-worth, ambition or potential.

So many girls strive for validation through the various numbers associated with body image and it’s really so sad seeing such beautiful, incredible women become discouraged over a few numbers that don’t measure anything of true significance.
Yes, it is important to live a healthy lifestyle. Yes, it is important to take care of yourself. However, taking care of yourself includes your mental health as well. Neglecting either your mental or physical health will inflict problems on the other. It’s very easy to get caught up in the idea that you’re too heavy or too thin, which results in you possibly mistreating your body in some way.

source : yourtango.com

Your body is your special, beautiful temple. It harbours all of your thoughts, feelings, characteristics and ideas. Without it, you wouldn’t be you. If you so wish to change it in a healthy way, then by all means go ahead. With that being said, don’t make changes to impress or please someone else. You are the only person who is in charge of your body. No one else has the right to tell you whether or not your body is good enough. If you don’t satisfy their standards, then you don’t need that sort of negative influence in your life. That sort of manipulation and control is extremely unhealthy in its own regard.

Love yourself - love your body !

source : yourtango.com

Do not hold back on things you love or want to do because of how you interpret your body. You are enough. You are more than enough. You are more than your exterior. You are your inner being, your spirit. A smile and confidence are the most beautiful things you can wear.
It’s not about the size of your jeans. It’s about the size of your mind and heart. Embrace your body; observe and adore every curve, bone and stretch mark. Wear what makes you feel happy and comfortable in your own skin. Do your hair and makeup (or don’t do either) to your heart’s desire. Wear the crop top you’ve been eyeing up in that store window. Want a bikini body? Put a bikini on your body, simple.

So, as hard as it may seem sometimes, understand that the number on the scale doesn’t measure the amount or significance of your contributions to this world. Just because that dress doesn’t fit you like you had hoped don’t mean that you’re any less of a person.
Love your body, and your body will love you right back.

Why you should go for Startup Company?

When you have just graduated from college and are looking for a job, it is wise to start small. You have just entered the world of business and you must be careful. There are a few skills you will need to learn in order to sustain your development over the long run. You must adapt to working more than ever. A Startup demands more efforts and over-time schedules as it grows steadily. You need to interact with people of your age and interests more than people who see this world differently. A Startup offers you flexibility and openness.

A successful businessman or an entrepreneur knows the importance of risks. A Startup is all about taking risks and experimenting new things on the edge. When you are in a Startup company, people know what you are going through because they are the same. You get to choose the working hours and a slight informality is always welcomed. A Startup company gives you the freedom to choose your working style and feel at home. If you seek comfort, with hard work; friendliness with professionalism; freedom with deadlines and risks with reduced job security then Startup is for you.

Fresh Start-Up v/s Established Company: Which One is Better for You?

Why you should go for an Established Company?

Once you graduate from college, it is time to reach out for your dream companies. There are tens of established companies out there who might be in search of your excellence. The corporate companies often seek out the students who can help them grow business and are ready to offer huge package as well. For people who see life in their own different way and wish to start big, this is a good option. However, companies of this scale often expect more than one might expect from a graduate. Similar to the Startup companies, there are certain skills you must possess for landing a job at any of the established corporate companies.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]An established company demands punctuality, discipline and activeness at work.[/beautifulquote]

You must be punctual, disciplined and always ready to work. There is no comfort zone in companies for they need results, and that is the reason you are chosen. An established company demands punctuality, discipline and activeness at work. As an employee of the company, you would have to respect your leaders; however, a slight disrespect might lead to demotion. Compared to startup, where you are free to converse with the head committee members there is less interaction allowed with the lead member of company or say the chief executive for that matter. Companies provide facilities better than startups but demand a systematic approach towards work and management.

How to chose the best fit for your career?

Fresh Start-Up v/s Established Company: Which One is Better for You?There are a lot of startups doing really good. Also, many of the companies are gaining momentum. There is no one correct answer to this question. There are jobs in life when you might want to prefer a startup while at other times you might want to go with an established company. An engineer working at a startup might generate enough output for a city, however the same idea and multi fold implementation might help an entire state or even a country with the support of corporate resources. Internships allow to experiment with various working styles viz. In Office Internships, Work from Home Internships, etc. When pursuing an internship, one comes to know about his/her way of working. Some people get best results when they are working from home for a company. While others might feel maximum energy when sitting in an office, undisturbed and focused.

[beautifulquote align=”full” cite=””]Not every person who joins a startup is successful at all times; nor any person who joins a company is well settled.[/beautifulquote]

The choice for the selection of a startup or an established company is but a delicate phase in your life. Not every person who joins a startup is successful at all times; nor any person who joins a company is well settled. The best way is to experiment with different working styles by opting for internships before actual job placements. Another way can be choosing either of the companies and spending a year or two in order to get the required experience so you can choose better, the next time you face such a dilemma.

We, The Offended People Of India…

In September 2014, Gujarat Police arrested Muslim cleric Mehadi Hasan for calling Navratri a ‘festival of demons’.

When I read the above statement on a website, I guffawed. I could not fathom why and on what grounds he was arrested. India is inhabited by hundreds of millions of human beings. Some groups of these human beings follow one faith; another group another faith and some do not follow at all. Then what gives us the right to impose our beliefs on others and what makes us believe that others shall treat our religion with the same respect as we have for ours ? This reminds me of one of my favorite stand-up comedian, Bill Hicks. He was an outspoken stand-up comedian with strong, unbending views on the most divisive of subjects and when one of his shows offended a priest, he replied to the priest directly by letter.

We, The Offended People Of India...

While I’ve found many of the religious shows I’ve viewed over the years not to be to my liking, or in line with my own beliefs, I’ve never considered it my place to exert any greater type of censorship than changing the channel, or better yet — turning off the TV completely.

The connection between how Indians take offence and how that is used as a tool to curb the right to freedom of speech and expression is sought to be explained in the following short note.

We, The Offended People Of India...

The Indians today are offended in varied aspects. These aspects can be narrowed down to certain heads which are (i) religious matters or matters involving one’s dogmatic faith and the representation of its critical view through art and literature (critical view takes the form of sarcasm or demystification of one’s religious/historical personage or simply poking fun at one’s religion.), (ii) food habits of different religious or cultural groups, and, (iii) nationalist sentiments.

I have specifically dealt with the religious matters which offend the Indians most.

India, a socialist secular republic, is home to diverse groups of people and also to their beliefs and practices. India has been tolerant of diversities since time immemorial. One of the grandest emperors of India, Akbar not only made unequivocal pronouncements in the priority of tolerance, but also laid the formal foundation of a secular legal structure and of religious neutrality of the state, which included the duty to ensure that ‘no man should be interfered with on account of religion, and anyone is to be allowed to go over to a religion that pleases him.’

Akbar supported dialogues between adherents of religious faiths. Akbar’s overarching thesis stated that ‘the pursuit of reason’ rather than ‘reliance on tradition’ is the way to address difficult problems of social harmony.

But today this pursuit of reason seems to have been lost on the lunatic fringes of our society. In the case of Ajay Gautam v. The Union of India, where a ban on the movie of PK was demanded by the Hindu fundamentalists, the court came out with the tenets on which religion is based upon.

We, The Offended People Of India...

“Religion relies on faith and humor on fantasy, with each performing the important function of society. The more devoted a person in his religious belief, the greater should be his spirit of tolerance. Our country enjoys a shared membership of human race and our future depends on the tolerance of distinctions that mark the richness and diversity of the plural community of man which this country enjoys”, the Court said.

Indians’ religious sentiments get easily hurt and that is evident in the sectarian conflicts that the country has seen. But this does not give the license to the government to ban any and every type of art and literature that provokes or arouses the audience to commit harmful acts. A line needs to be drawn and this was done in by J. Holmes in Schenek v. United States. He for a unanimous court evolved the test of “clear and present danger”.

It was held in this case that free speech cannot be suppressed on the ground either that its audience will form harmful beliefs or may commit a harmful act as a result of such beliefs unless the commission of harmful acts is a real close and imminent consequence of the speech in question.

Gandhiji has spoken about the importance of free speech along the same lines. In his book, ‘Hind Swaraj’, he writes, ‘Every man and woman has the right to hold any opinion he or she chooses and to give effect to it so long as in doing so she or he does not use or advocate physical violence against anybody.’

We, The Offended People Of India...

India basks in the glory of being a democratic country cherishing the principles of equality and liberty. But the laws, acts, and statute of this democratic republic glorify the laws of colonial times. The Customs Act, the Post Office Act, the Official Secrets Act, the Press Registration Act of 1867, and Sections 124,153 and 252 of the Indian Penal Code retain the major tenets of what was originally drafted by the British. Also the glaring examples of public censorship where the citizens wield the censorship sword in their hand and dictate the government to ban the books or movies which have offended them indicate how the government has become subservient to the whims and fancies of the masses and further how these colonial-era laws have emboldened leaders and fanatics to make concrete their demands.

But today, not only these statutes and lunatic fringes of some religious groups, it is us too who have become antagonistic towards others views and opinions.
