SCHOOL-THE SECOND HOME

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world, is rightly said by Nelson Mandela and for that parents send their children to school. When parents send off their children to school they do that with a lot of trust on the school authorities and always hope that their trust is not intruded. And thus it’s solely the responsibility of the school to always keep in mind the trust of the guardians of the students.

”We gave them our child, and they returned a corpse to us,” said Meena, mother of a six-year-old boy (Divyansh) who drowned in a water tank in school premises (remember this incident which took place earlier this year). She also said that the incident has changed her mind about her daughter’s education because she has lost her faith in them. Not just this one case, but there was much in the past which changed the mindset of many people about schools.

School is such an encouraging and safe environment where students spend most of the precious time of their entire life and call it their second home and teachers being their second parents, guide, friend, philosopher and mentor are responsible for children’s welfare for the six or eight hours they are at school and the students need to know without question that their safety will be paramount on the minds of the teachers, faculty, and volunteers.

At the beginning of the session, a student is required to fill in the personal details which consist of a column which asks for a person to be contacted in an emergency and this generally remains on the pages and is not implemented at the time of emergency. Also, an undertaking is signed by the parents, which states that they have thoroughly gone through the rules and regulations stated for them and with this, they fulfill their duty and hand over their child in the hands of their future makers.

“Every child in your class is someone’s whole world”, and this school should be a safe place for all students to learn and play and it is the job of each teacher and administrator to ensure that safety.
