1. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

Established in 1958 with the campus size of 550 acres, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai or IIT Bombay is the best engineering college of India. IIT Bombay was decreed as the Institute of National Importance by the Parliament in 1961. The Institute is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Courses offered by IIT Bombay are B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, Executive MBA, MMS, M.Des, M.Phil, and Ph.D. The criterion to enter this premier institution for B.Tech is qualifying JEE ADVANCED with top ranks.

2. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The second best IIT ranked in order after IIT Bombay is IIT Delhi. It was established in the year 1961. IIT Delhi is one of the best institutes in the country, ranked 1st consecutively for 3 years by Outlook which is one of the prestigious ranking magazines in India. IIT Delhi conducts various programs including undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programs. Admissions are taken through entrance exams such as JEE, GATE, and JAM. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is situated at 325 acres land in Hauz Khas, South Delhi and is well connected by public transports. It is just 10 km from Delhi airport and 14 km from New Delhi railway station.

3. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, popularly known as IIT Kanpur, was established in the year 1959. It offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated and research programs in the field of Engineering, Science, Management, and Design. 
Admissions to B.Tech, B.S, and dual degree courses are offered through the prestigious JEE Advanced exam, and for M.Sc programs, admission is offered through JAM. A valid GATE score is required for admission to the M.Tech./ MS program. There are M.Des. courses as well and the admission is offered on the basis of CEED score.

4. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

Popularly known as IIT Kharagpur or IIT KGP, was established in the year 1951. It is one of the best 5 IITs and is located in Kharagpur, West Bengal. The institute offers B.Tech, B.Arch., Integrated, LLB, LLM, M.Tech., MCP, M.Sc., MBA, EMBA, MMST, and Ph.D. program to the aspirants. IIT Kharagpur admissions are based on the marks secured by the students in the following entrance tests – JEE Main/ Advanced for B.Tech./ B.Arch., GATE for M.Tech., JAM for M.Sc., CAT for MBA/ MHRM and Entrance Tests conducted by the Institute for LLB, LLM, MMST and Ph.D. applicants.

5. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

Set up in the year 1959, IIT Madras is a public engineering institute. IIT Madras was set up through an Act of Parliament. The admissions to this prestigious institute happen on the basis of the marks one score in National level entrance exams such as IIT JAM, JEE Advanced, CAT, etc. IIT Madras was the third Indian Institute of Technology after IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur. The beautiful 617.8-Acre campus is one of India’s most prestigious institute to be recognized as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India.

6. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

James Thomason set up IIT Roorkee in the year 1847 as Thomason College of Civil Engineering. Now, it is known as IIT Roorkee. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee)  stands as the seventh Indian Institute of Technology. In 1949, it took stature of a university and was remained the University of Roorkee till 2001. However, it was converted into an IIT in 2001 by an act of Government of India. An ordinance was issued that later got converted into the act by the parliament to make it an Institution of National Importance. The deemed and recognized institution has 21 academic departments covering engineering, applied sciences, humanities & social sciences academic centers, 3 centers of excellence and some supporting units. The Institute offers various UG, PG, Integrated and Ph.D. Courses in Engineering, Management, Science, and Architecture. The basis for admissions to all the courses is the National Entrance exams such as JEE Advanced, GATE, IIT JAM or NATA.

7. Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani)

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani stands among one of the best private technological universities in India and is among the most popular choices for the students aiming to pursue engineering. Having its primary focus on undergraduate education in Engineering, Science, and Management, BITS is one of the few universities in India that follows “No Reservation Policy” for its admissions. BITS Pilani also has the policy of accepting State and National Board toppers from India. Ex-Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan, Hotmail-Founder Sabeer Bhatia, and Amkette Founder Rajiv Bapna are some of the notable alumni of the university. The institute is one among the 6 Indian ‘Institutes of Eminence’ recognized by the Government of India in 2018. It is established across 4 campuses and has 15 academic departments. 8. BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) is a Private Institute located in Hyderabad, Telangana and was established in the year 2008. BITS Hyderabad is one of the four campuses of BITS University, Pilani. BITS University is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). BITS is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Institute offers various UG and PG courses in addition to Ph.D. and M.Phil Research courses. Since 2005, admission to the Undergraduate programs to the Indian campuses of BITS has been offered to students based on their performance in the all-India Entrance Examination, called BITS Admission Test (BITSAT). BITS Pilani also has the policy of accepting State and National Board toppers from India.

9. College of Engineering, Pune

An autonomous Institute located in Pune, Maharashtra, College of Engineering Pune (COEP) was set up in the year 1854. The Institution’s afiliation is to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). COEP offers B.Tech, M.Tech, PG Diploma, and Ph.D. research programs. The requirement is that candidates seeking admission to the B.Tech program must score at least 55% marks in 10+2 (Science Stream). The basis for the final selection to courses happens on the basis of scores obtained in MHT-CET/ JEE Main Entrance Exam. And, to take admission in M.Tech course, candidates must pass BE/ B.Tech with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of GATE Entrance exam scores.

10. Delhi Technological University, Delhi

Delhi Technological University (DTU) was previously known as Delhi College of Engineering. It stands as the first engineering college that was established in Delhi. It was set up by the Government of India as a Delhi Polytechnic in 1941. The government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi run the functioning of the college since 1963. It was affiliated with Delhi University from 1952 – 2009. Then, it became a state university and was renamed as Delhi Technological University. Various UG, PG, Executive and Doctoral Programs in Engineering and Management are offered by the University. The basis of admissions to this deemed university is National Level Exams viz. CAT, JEE Main, or GATE. In July 2009, Delhi College of Engineering was upgraded to a state university and its name was changed to Delhi Technological University, through the Delhi Technological University Bill, 2009. P.B. Sharma was nominated as the university’s first Vice Chancellor. The move was met with student protests over the erosion of the DCE brand which culminated to a face-off in March 2010, with the students boycotting the mid-semester exams, and demanding reconsideration of the change and replacement of the VC. However, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, informed the students that the change will not be reconsidered, and by the end of March the protest dwindled down, with the students taking their exams.
