Pinkathon : Marathon for Women

Pinkathon organizes marathons specifically for women. It is also a  community which encourages women to come together and spend an hour for themselves by running and exercising. They have expert Pinkathon volunteers who help in getting trained for running a marathon. This helps them to become fit and have a better quality of life both mentally and physically. Their social media pages have experts in enlightening them on various topics which would be helpful for them.

Founders :

Milind Soman and Reema Sanghvi are founders of Pinkathon. The first ever Pinkathon run was held in 2012. It is an initiative by United Sisters Foundation. The run was organized by Maximus Mice and Media Solutions Pvt Ltd. State Bank Of India started sponsoring the event since 2014.

Companies like Colors, Bajaj Electricals Ltd, VWash, Reebok, Tropicana, Biseleri etc are sponsors of this marathon.

Gul Pang, Lisa Haydon, Bipasha Basu and Karishma Kapoor are few of the ambassadors for Pinkathon.

Aim :

Pinkathon believes that women can make society healthier and fitter. For this basic understanding of how body functions and a constant awareness about the changes happening in the body is necessary. It brings like minded women together and helps them workout in an effective way to help them become a better version of themselves. Regular check ups are important for detection of diseases. It also helps in detecting it early which is helpful starting of treatment. Spreading awareness about this factor has also been achieved over the years by this organization.

It  promotes various causes of women, one of them is breast cancer.

Events :

The Pinkathon are held in 8 cities, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahemedabad, Ghuwati. The registration for the run is of 3km run/walk, 5km, 10km and 21km. Every participation fee is minimal and runs with no participation fee area also conducted. Supriya Patil has set a course record of running 21kms in 1hr 23 minutes.

Apart from the winners the oldest and the youngest runners are awarded in this event.

Every run starts with warmup. This is usually conducted by zumba instructors and the whole place gets energized.

Activities :

The highlight of Pinkathon is that it helps women train for running throughout the year. They train from the age group of 7 to 73. Groups come together where they exercise and share knowledge.

Pinkathon conducts various challenges like

30 days Plank Challenge

30 days No sugar Challenge:

In this challenge refined sugar, natural sweeteners, or artificial sweeteners are not meant to be consumed for 30 days. Only naturally occurring sugars such as fruits and vegetables are recommended.

100 Days of Pinkathon :

This is being observed since 16th August. In this registered pink sisters who have taken up this challenge will be running a distance more than 2 km everyday. A distance of 20 to 30 kms per week is the aim to be achieved in these 100 days. The sisters post about their run in whatsapp groups where they receive support and acts as encouragement to participate for others.
