If you google “top 10 beaches in Asia” you’ll find Radhanagar beach, Havelock Island in most of the lists. In the year 2004, it was named the best beach in Asia by Time magazine, it’s certainly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. So, Havelock Island. Where is it? Havelock is the largest of the islands that form Ritchie’s archipelago, which is a group of islands to the east of the great Andaman archipelago – the main archipelago of the Andaman Islands. Havelock is situated 25 miles north-east of the capital city of Port Blair.

You can reach Havelock by water from Port Blair. Several ferries operate between Port Blair and Havelock, like the Green Ocean & Makruzz. MV Makruzz is a high speed catamaran. And there is a government ferry service as well. All these vessels are air conditioned. It takes nearly 90 minutes to reach Havelock by Makruzz. And party loving people, Green Ocean will be a better choice for you, because guess what? It has got an onboard dance floor, that’s right.

The beaches on Havelock are numbered. Radhanagar beach or beach no. 7 is one of the several beaches on Havelock Island. This 2km stretch of silvery white sand by the aquatic blue of the sea is straight out of a most beautiful poster with the most serene picture of a beach & a clichéd quote. (You have seen such posters right?)

4. Radhanagar Beach: Water, Sand & Heavy Foliage

Other than being exceptionally neat and clean this beach has another quality that you will seldom find in India. It is not crowded at all. You will have all the privacy you want, you can walk by the sea as long as you want, barefoot, listening to the sound of the waves, with the sea on one side and lush greenery on the other.

5. Havelock Island

What other things to do on Havelock? Kalapathar beach is another beach on Havelock, relatively smaller in size but exotic. Elephant beach, fringed with amazing coral reefs, popular for its water activities like snorkeling, sea walking, banana boat ride is a major tourist attraction on Havelock. Night stay on Havelock may be pretty amazing too. You’ll get a vast range of options from Nicobari huts to resorts with pre set up tents having their own bar and restaurant.
So pack your shorts and shades and just hop on a flight to Port Blair, you are going to have the time of your life.
