Yummy raw banana recipes to try out

Raw banana is a healthy vegetable which is good for people of all ages. There are some tasty dishes of raw banana which all will like eating. You can follow the recipes of raw banana and have a healthy meal. These recipes can be prepared with the available ingredients at your home.

Raw Banana Fry

This is a yummy dish of raw banana sauteed with herbs and spices. You can eat this with rice, chapati, puri or paratha.

Ingredients –

  1. Raw Banana – Few, depending on size
  2. Chilli – 1
  3. Garlic – Few cloves
  4. Onion – 1
  5. Ginger – 1-inch piece
  6. Tomato – 1
  7. Salt – To taste
  8. Turmeric powder – Half teaspoon
  9. Chilli powder – Half teaspoon
  10. Coriander powder – Half teaspoon
  11. Cumin powder – Half teaspoon
  12. Garam Masala – Half teaspoon
  13. Asafoetida (Hing) – A pinch
  14. Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon
  15. Water – As needed
  16. Oil – 3 tablespoons
  17. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  18. Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

Method –

  1. The number of raw bananas to be used depends on its size. I had used 3 raw bananas of medium size. You can use how many you want.
  2. Remove the peel of raw banana and cut in small pieces. Soak the cut pieces in water for some time. Chop chilli, onion, garlic, ginger and tomato finely.
  3. Heat a pan and put oil to it. Then add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida to it. Let them splutter.
  4. Put onion, garlic, chilli, ginger and fry well. Fry till the raw smell disappears. Then add tomato to it. Sautee very well. Cook till the tomato becomes mushy.
  5. Put raw banana to it. Then add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala to it. Mix very well.
  6. Add little water to it. Stir and then cover the pan for few minutes. Remove cover and check whether raw banana has become soft or not.
  7. Mix well on high flame. Then garnish it with coriander leaves.

Raw Banana Manchurian

This is a lip-smacking dish made from raw banana. You can eat this with any rice dish or noodles dish.

Ingredients –

  1. Raw Banana – Some, depending on size
  2. Water – As needed
  3. Corn flour – 3 tablespoons
  4. Maida (Refined flour) – 2 tablespoons
  5. Chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  6. Oil – As needed for frying raw banana and for making gravy
  7. Salt – According to taste
  8. Garlic – Few cloves
  9. Chilli – 1
  10. Onion – 1
  11. Capsicum – 1 or 2 depending on size
  12. Tomato sauce – 2 tablespoons
  13. Pepper powder – 1 teaspoon
  14. Maggi Magic cube – 1

Method –

  1. The number of raw bananas to be used depends on its size. I had used 7 raw bananas of small size. You can use how many you want.
  2. Remove the peel of raw banana and cut in small pieces. Soak the cut pieces in water for some time. Chop chilli, onion, garlic and capsicum finely.
  3. Put raw banana pieces to this batter and mix well. The batter should neither be thick nor thin. It should coat all the raw banana pieces.
  4. Heat a pan and put sufficient oil to it. Add raw banana pieces in batches and fry them. Fry till the raw banana pieces become crisp. Keep them aside.
  5. In the same pan, heat oil and put onion to it. Then add garlic, chilli, capsicum and fry till the raw smell disappears.
  6. Then put salt and pepper powder to it. Fry till they get cooked. Add tomato sauce to it and mix well.
  7. If there is any batter left in the bowl, then add Maggi Magic cube, water to it and mix. If there is no batter left, then mix 1 teaspoon of cornflour and Maggi Magic cube with some water.
  8. Add this to the pan where other ingredients have been sauteed. Mix thoroughly so that a gravy forms. Cook till the gravy turns glossy.
  9. Put the fried raw banana pieces to this gravy. Mix very well so that the raw banana pieces get coated with the gravy. Serve it hot.

Raw Banana Kofta

This is an appetizing dish made from raw banana cutlets sauteed in a creamy gravy. You can eat this with rice, chapati, puri or paratha.

Ingredients –

  1. Raw Banana – Some, depending on size
  2. Onion – 1 or 2 depending on size
  3. Garlic – Few cloves
  4. Ginger – A piece
  5. Chilli – 1
  6. Chaat Masala – 1 teaspoon
  7. Corn flour – 2 tablespoons
  8. Besan (Gram flour or Chickpea flour) – 2 tablespoons
  9. Salt – According to taste
  10. Raisins – Some
  11. Butter – 2 tablespoons
  12. Chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  13. Oil – As needed for frying raw banana and for making masala
  14. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  15. Cinnamon – A piece
  16. Cardamom – Few pods
  17. Cashew nuts – Few
  18. Tomato – 1
  19. Kasuri methi – 2 teaspoons
  20. Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
  21. Sugar – Half teaspoon
  22. Water – As needed
  23. Cream – 2 tablespoons

Method –

  1. The number of raw bananas to be used depends on its size. I had used 6 raw bananas of medium size.
  2. Boil the raw bananas in pressure cooker. Then peel them and mash properly. Chop chilli, onion, garlic, ginger and tomato finely.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, put mashed raw bananas, chopped pieces of half onion, garlic, chilli, ginger, salt, chaat masala, corn flour, besan, kasuri methi and raisins.
  4. Mash all the ingredients well so that they mix. Make sure that this mixture is not watery. If you find it watery, then add besan to it.
  5. From this mashed mixture, make small rolls. Heat a pan and put sufficient oil to it. Add these small rolls in batches and fry them.
  6. Fry till they become crisp and turn brown. Keep them aside. The raw banana cutlets are ready to be dipped in gravy.
  7. In the same pan, heat oil and put cumin seeds, cinnamon, cardamom and cashew nuts to it. Then add onion, ginger, garlic and tomato to it.
  8. Fry very well so that these ingredients get cooked and their raw smell disappears. Mix well and cool them. Then put this mixture in a grinder and make a fine paste.
  9. Heat the same pan again and put butter to it. Add chilli powder, sugar, coriander powder and kasuri methi to it.
  10. Then add the masala paste to it and saute for few minutes. Put salt, water and mix well. Then add cream to the gravy and stir.
  11. If you do not have cream, then you can use thick milk. Check the consistency and quantity of gravy. It should be neither thick nor thin.
  12. The quantity of gravy must be sufficient so that all the raw banana cutlets can dip in the gravy. Simmer the gravy for few minutes and add all cutlets to it.
  13. Mix well and serve it hot.

Raw Banana Chips

This is a delicious dish made from raw banana. We usually buy this wafer. You can eat this anytime.

Ingredients –

  1. Raw Banana – Few, depending on size
  2. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  3. Turmeric powder – Half teaspoon
  4. Water – As needed
  5. Oil – As needed for frying raw banana

Method –

  1. The number of raw bananas to be used depends on its size. I had used 2 raw bananas of large size. You can use how many you want.
  2. Use slightly ripe bananas so that you can remove their skin easily. Cut them into thin slices.
  3. In a large bowl, put water and add raw banana slices, salt and turmeric powder to it. Mix them very well. The slices will get yellow colour in this way.
  4. Drain off the water and keep the raw banana slices in a large plate. Wipe the water from them and pat them dry.
  5. Heat a pan and put sufficient oil to it. Fry the raw banana slices in batches. Stir them occasionally and fry till they become crisp. Serve them hot.
