Mindy Kaling has been busy making television rom-coms, a genre she excels at. From her first original series, The Mindy Project To Never Have I Ever, she has come a long way. Her new “project” dips into the teen category, with more drama and humour. Devi Vishwakumar is a teenage girl dealing with her father’s tragic death in the series. “Never Have I Ever” appears to be a cheerful adolescent rom-com on the surface, with Devi bouncing around in a traditional love triangle between her buddy and academic rival, Ben, and the school’s ultimate gorgeous boy, Paxton.
6. The Chair
While there are several television dramas and films about high school, Hollywood has struggled to portray academicians. The Chair, while not focusing on students, offers a fresh perspective on academia through Ji-Yoon Kim, the first woman of colour to become chair of an English department at a fictional Ivy League university. While Ji-Yoon is eager to make a difference and create a stir, she inherits more problems than she bargained for, including a political correctness scandal involving her close friend and colleague Bill Dobson.
7. Pretend It’s a City
Fran Lebowitz has established herself as one of America’s most notable cultural commentators throughout her 40-year career, and she is frequently likened to Dorothy Parker. Mike Flanagan is back with another eerie limited series for horror lovers. Midnight mass has a religious setting in an isolated land. Crockett Island, a small fishing village in New England is slowly dying. At the beginning of the show, several folk return or move to the community. Riley Flynn, a recovering alcoholic who is out of prison for accidentally killing someone in a car crash. Erin Greene, Riley’s high school crush and a former bad girl; and Father Paul, the new, young priest who has come to act town’s preacher.
9. Sweet Magnolias
Dripping with Southern charm, Sweet Magnolias is as delightful as sweet tea with perfect lemon squeezes. The series follows Maddie, a mother of three who tries to pick up the pieces of her previously picture-perfect life in a small town after her husband’s outrageous public affair. It is based on a series of books by romance author Sherryl Woods. Maddie finds love again in the arms of Cal, a hunky former Major Leaguer who now instructs her eldest son in baseball. Sweet Magnolias is not only about romance, it is also a story of female friendship. The show is devoted to Maddie’s relationships with her two best friends, each of whom has their own personal and love arcs.

This isn’t the first time Netflix has combined high schoolers and zombies. The under-appreciated and short-lived Daybreak is one example. However, when a biology teacher discovers a virus that turns their classmates into undead, the school turns into a battleground. This Netflix superhero series follows Nicole who after the death of her husband, Mark, raises her beautiful eight-year-old son Dion. Nicole now has to keep her son’s powers hidden with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat, as well as keep Dion safe from people looking to exploit him. 12. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window
You might not remember the “extra” long name of the show but you will not forget the plot. After her daughter was killed and eaten by “Massacre Mike,” Anna becomes traumatized. Hallucinations start when Anna begins mixing alcohol with her antidepressants. As a result, no one believes her when she watches a murder take place across the street.
