Amidst several protests and controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ became 2018’s biggest film. It started in January, with a Rajput group attacking Mr Bhansali and vandalising the sets in Maharashtra to threats against the film’s star Deepika Padukone. ‘Padmaavat,’ earlier titled ‘Padmavati,’ was eventually refused clearance by the Censor Board, got postponed and later released this year on January 25th. The film also starring Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, crossed the 250 crore mark at the box office and continues to be super strong. If you still haven’t watched ‘Padmaavat’ you can now enjoy it at very cheap prizes offered by bookmyshow.
We Have PadMan
If there was one single showbiz event that stood out in 2018, it was the release of ‘PadMan,’ the menstrual hygiene awareness reminder of director R Balki with Akshay Kumar as the super hero. The film was based on entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented low-cost sanitary pad making machine and created menstrual hygiene in his village. ‘PadMan’ produced by Twinkle Khanna became something of a national obsession about period. The film also starred Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles and was also presented at Oxford Union. The film released on February 9 and it did start a conversation about period at homes. Beat that.
Thugs of Hindostan
Thugs Are Back
Aamir Khan is out for a ‘Dangal’ again. After setting benchmarks, Aamir is all set for ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’ with Katrina Kaif and Amitabh Bachchan. The film is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug. Katrina is high on power with this one. The film will hit the screens on Diwali, this year. Rajinikanth And Akshay Kumar, Is Your Screen On Fire?
Rajinikanth fans, rejoice. The superstar will be seen in S Shankar’s magnum opus ‘2.0.’ Rajinikanth will play a scientist, a robot, two dwarves and a baddie while his co-star Akshay Kumar, who plays the prime antagonist in the film, will be seen in 12 different characters. With ‘2.0,’ Akshay is debuting in the Tamil film industry. ‘2.0’ is easily one of the biggest and the most-anticipated films of the year. It is a sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2010 blockbuster ‘Enthiran,’ which released in Hindi as Robot. The film is currently scheduled to release in October. The wait becomes a little tad-bit.
Sridevi’s Daughter Makes Her Debut
Days before Sridevi died, her elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor had been prepping up for her debut film ‘Dhadak’ with Ishaan Khatter, who made his big screen debut in Majid Majidi’s ‘Beyond the Clouds.’ Dhadak is directed by Shashank Khaitan and it is produced by Karan Johar. ‘Dhadak’ is a remake of Marathi film ‘Sairat’ and recently Farah Khan choreographed Janhvi and Ishaan in the ‘Jhingat’ redux for the film. We hope that Janhvi will be as good as her mother and will transport us back to the ‘Chandni’ days. Why not double the excitement with some special offers on movies? Manikarnika, directed by Krish, co-stars Kangana Ranaut with Jisshu Sengupta and Ankita Lokhande. It is expected to release later this year. Kangana is never getting out of her Rani phase. Shah Rukh Khan Zeroed In Finally
Seen SRK’s pint-sized look from Zero yet? Well, let this be known that it’s freaking cute. Shah Rukh will be seen as a dwarf in Aanand L Rai’s Zero, also starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Shah Rukh has raised the bars and made us more impatient with the teaser of the film, which went viral instantly. The film is currently scheduled to hit the screens on December 21 and ‘Baadshah’ will win our hearts, yet again. Shah Rukh Khan and some surprise? Wow. Yes, you can now watch your manpasand movie with over Rs. 250 cashback as an offer on movies from PayZapp.
My Heart Is Racing
Bollywood’s ‘Sultan’ is back with Race 3 – the third film of the ‘Race’ franchise. In the film, Salman has replaced Saif Ali Khan as the lead while Pooja Hegde and Daisy Shah also star in the film. Bobby Deol has been signed as the antagonist while Anil Kapoor is the only member of the original Race team returning to the third film. Remo D’Souza has replaced Abbas Mustan as director. Eid means it’s time for the Bollywood ‘Bhaijaan’ to arrive at the theatres.
The makers of ‘Fanne Khan’ confirmed the release date (June 15). The film will witness the reunion of ‘Taal’ actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor. FanneKhan is reportedly an adaption of the Oscar-nominated film ‘Everybody’s Famous’ (2000). The Atul Manjrekar-directed film also stars Rajkummar Rao.
