People in Kolkata are engaged in many types of work but befall , they any how manages to take time out of their busy schedules and jamup at the tea stalls or maybe nowadays in closed coffee shops, but it doesn’t gives the feel of the weather outside especially when it’s the monsoon season. Due to modernization Kolkata is eventually evolving in various aspects, new projects, MNC companies, urbanization , socialization and taking part in clean city contests.
Kolkata is a home to many bengalis, marwaris, muslims, sikhs, and so does its influential nature affects the taste of various culturally diverse people here.
No doubt, that bengalis are known as the PETUK-LOKH , they can dive into any dish which seems to be mouth watering, juicy, tasty, spicy. People go crazy over Rabindra Sangeet doesn’t matter how much they’re into Western music taste, kathak bharatnatyam , Sounds of tabla, sitar, tanpura , flute, can still give goosebumps to them, football matches between Mohun Bagan and Kingfisher East Bengal can excite them , doesn’t matter how much milk tea isn’t good for health they need it at least 3-4 times in a day , a gala time in the evening with some snacks and tea, three times ( morning, afternoon,night ) of rice ( bhaat ) , dal , veggies , fish ( machli ) or an egg or mutton alternatively. They prefer mutton much than chicken , and doesn’t compromise with their appetite.
Founded as an East India Company trading post, it was India’s capital under the British Raj from 1773–1911. Today it’s known for its grand colonial architecture, art galleries and cultural festivals. It’s also home to Mother House, headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, whose tomb is on site. The famous sites are : South Park Street cemetery ,Victoria memorial, Princep Ghat, Fort Williams Stadium, Writer’s Building,Howrah Bridge. Etc.
Children here starts preparations for their exams before three days but for Durga puja their preparations starts from 364 days ahead of puja. Culture,Food tastes not only makes the people of kolkata healthy but the very sporty nature of football, cricket,polo and golf had have made kolkata the enthusiastic ones.
They have a say ‘ whose start is good , his end is also good ‘ just like a way , a Bengali ‘s apatite is completed with mishti doi ( yougurt ) same as that the people here are sweet as the yogurt , refreshing like a cup of tea, and enthusiastic like a pinch of lemon in phuchka ( golgappa ), probably possible here. The most ever wanted city after London in the early eraand still is ,indeed a city of joy !
