Khammam

The driving distance from Hyderabad to Khammam is 200 km via NH 9 which takes 3 hours and 45 minutes. This ancient land derives its name from Narsimhadri temple that is perched atop a rocky hill. Start your trip by climbing up to the formidable Khammam Fort. Carry your binoculars and camera to spot and click photos of innumerable migratory birds that inhabit the Kinnari Wildlife Sanctuary. Jeep safaris are available for tourists who want to visit the Deer Park and the Kinneraswami Dam that is the found within this sanctuary. Lakaram lake area is a popular spot for boating and family outings. Kallur is a famous pilgrimage centre that has two old temples of Venu Gopalaswamy and a Shiva Temple with five Shivalingams in its inner sanctum.

Warangal

The travelling distance from Vijayawada to Warangal is 248 km. Rent a car in Vijayawada to reach Warangal in 5 hours.

Start your trip from the Bhadrakali Temple to see the shrine of Goddess Kali. Close to it lies the Kakatiya Musical Garden with fountains, rock statues and rose garden that offers a perfect vacationing spot for your entire family

The 1000 Pillared Temple reflect the architectural style of the Kakatiyas. The Hanumakonda Hill stands at the backdrop of this 12th-century temple.

The Warangal Fort is a massive structure that has the Swayambhu Temple at its centre. Don’t miss to see the royal hall of Kush Mahal within the fort premise.

Yadagirigutta

Lying at a distance of around 60 km from Hyderabad, lies the temple town of Yadagirigutta in the Nalgonda district. Pilgrims consider the Yadagirigutta Temple to be the abode of Narasimhaswamy. Surendrapuri, Lotus Temple and Bhongir Fort are the nearby attractions that are a must visit for tourists to understand the heritage of Telangana.

Nagarjuna Sagar

It takes around 4 hours to travel a distance of 166 km from Hyderabad to the largest masonry dams of India, Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. Drive out to see the cascading waters of the Ethipothala waterfall that comes to its full glory during the monsoon. Ancient Buddhist excavation called Nagarjuna Konda is found in amidst the Nagarjuna Sagar lake that can be reached by a steamboat. Travelers can trek up the two age-old cave temples called Dattatreya and Ranganatha that are located on the island hill. A ferry ride to the island monuments, library, and museum, can be great fun and informative for young children.

Nature lovers feel thrilled at the sight of wildlife of the Nagarjuna Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary. This Tiger Reserve lies at Srisailam and attracts tourists mostly in the months of October to May.

No trip is complete without shopping. Don’t forget to pick some Kalamkari sarees and handicraft items that are locally made by skilled artisans of Telangana.
