A B C D of a bibliophile

0

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.” quoted George R.R. Martin and every bibliophile will agree to this in a heartbeat. In this inconstant world, the only trend that has remained constant is reading books. The faint smell of old books, the letters inscribed on white pages and the shine of new book covers can intoxicate any book lover
But the transition from fairytales to classics is not abrupt. Every bibliomaniac got intimidated by those black and white pages once upon a time but as soon as they got entrapped in that magical world of books they could never come out of it.So here I present the top ten books which inaugurate a readers library.

1. FAMOUS FIVE:- A series of novels based on the adventures of five children namely- George, Anne, Dick, Julian, and their mongrel dog-Timmy. Enid Blyton kept all of us engaged with her absorbing stories. These were the novels which exposed us to the insurmountable charm of books. Secret Seven is a series of books of a similar genre which is equally enjoyed by all the budding readers.

“Mothers were much too sharp. They were like dogs. Buster always sensed when anything was out of the ordinary, and so did mothers. Mothers and dogs both had a kind of second sight that made them see into people’s minds and know when anything unusual was going on.”

2.NANCY DREW- Number of authors had penned down one of the best of mystery novels under the name Carolyn Keene. The novels revolve around a teenage detective Nancy Drew.

“Do act mysterious. It always keeps them coming back for more”

nancy

3.GOOSEBUMPS:– Not all of us can be captivated by romance, thrillers or classics. Few need spooky ghosts to welcome them to the world of books and for them Goosebump series is perfect. Written by R.L Stine, the books follows the stories of children and their encounter with paranormal creatures.

“Most fears are basic: fear of the dark, fear of going down in the basement, fear of weird sounds, fear that somebody is waiting for you in your closet. Those kinds of things stay with you no matter what age.”

4.O Henry-100 selected short stories– This anthology has the collection of short stories written by well-known O Henry. This book includes ‘The gift of the Magi’, ‘Law and order’ , ‘Strictly business’ and all other stories which will leave you amazed.

“We can’t buy one minute of time with cash; if we could, rich people would live longer.”

ohenry

5.MALGUDI DAYS– It is a collection of thirty-two stories which is centered on a small town Malgudi. This book written by RK Narayan was also adapted into a television series.

“Friendship was another illusion like love, though it did not reach the same mad heights. People pretended that they were friends when the fact was they were brought together by force of circumstances.”

malgudi

6.THEODORE BOONE– Theodore Boone is a character sketched by John Grisham who features in a series of books. This book follows the kid lawyer’s take on innumerable cases.

“It wasn’t a romance; they were too young for that. Theo did not know of a single thirteen-year-old boy in his class who admitted to having a girlfriend.”

theo

7. DAVID COPPERFIELD- Although most of us choose the abridged version over the original one but this novel shows us the beauty and intensity of classics. This novel was written by Charles Dickens and it is believed that this story has elements of his life.

“Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show. To begin my life with the beginning of my life, I record that I was born (as I have been informed and believe) on a Friday, at twelve o’clock at night. It was remarked that the clock began to strike, and I began to cry, simultaneously.”

david copp

8.OLIVER TWIST– This is another novel written by Charles Dickens which finds a place in our library. Through this novel, Dickens highlights the life of an abandoned orphan and the atrocities he faced in life.

“For the rest of his life, Oliver Twist remembers a single word of blessing spoken to him by another child because this word stood out so strikingly from the consistent discouragement around him.”

oliver

9. LOVE STORY- This novella is usually the first choice of every reader when they want to delve deep into the romantic genre. The 135 pages love story traces the story of two college students and their conjugal life. The tremendous success of this book compelled Erich Segal to publish a sequel- OLIVER’S STORY

“I was afraid of being rejected, yes. I was also afraid of being accepted for the wrong reasons “

love

10. HARRY POTTER– Describing this novel as a children’s fantasy will be an understatement. This series of seven books written by JK Rowling explores emotions, romance, humor, adventure, magic, miracles and subtly captures the entire world in those pages.

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

Asus launches new ZenFone 3 series, starting from just Rs. 18,990

0
ASUS ZenFone Utra Family

At its keynote event in the opening of Computex 2016, Asus introduced the third generation of the ZenFone series, and it looks like the long wait was worth it.

The new ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and ZenFone 3 Ultra bring beautiful designs and attractive features, without breaking the bank. Starting prices range from $249 to $499, and considering what these phones bring to the table, we’re inclined to bet on their success in the market.

Meet the ASUS Zenfone 3

The entry in the range is the eponymous ZenFone 3, but this is no entry-level device, despite what the $249 price tag would have you believe. The good impression starts with the design, which graduated from plastic to a luxurious-looking brushed metal and glass combination. Asus’ trademark circular brush pattern is present, but it’s encased under a layer of Gorilla glass with curved edges that should make for a very nice feel in the hand.

asus-zenfone-3-hands-on

Perhaps following LG’s lead, Asus replaced the rear mounted volume rocker with a simple fingerprint reader, while volume controls now accompany the power button on the phone’s metallic frame.

If you like the ZenFone 3’s looks, its brains won’t disappoint. You get a Snapdragon 625 processor – the chip that emerged as a popular second option for flagship devices from LG and HTC – coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A higher-end version features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage respectively.

The display is a 5.5-inch IPS LCD (no change here from the ZenFone 2), but the other half of the media stack, audio, has received a nice boost thanks to a loud 5-magnet speaker and a NXP smart amp. You also get a USB Type C port (USB 2.0 connectivity though), 16MP and 8MP cameras, a fingerprint scanner on the back, and a 3,000 mAh battery. Camera features include laser-assisted autofocus, phase-detection autofocus, 4-axis OIS, a dual-tone flash, and super resolution mode (64MP).

ASUS’s ZenFone 3 looks and feels twice its price

Intel may have already quit the smartphone market, but its buddy ASUS continues to fight the good fight with a slightly different approach this year. At Computex, the Taiwanese giant announced not just one, but three new Android M smartphones: ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra. The three share a common design language, though in our opinion, it’s the $249 base model that has the best appearance thanks to 2.5D Gorilla Glass on both sides, as well as the spun-metal finish on the back (underneath the glass). Together, these work well with any of the four color options: Shimmer Gold, Aqua Blue, Sapphire Black and Moonlight White. The sandblasted metallic frame around it adds a nice touch too.

Zenfone 3 Laser and Zefone 3 Go TV

In mid-July, a series of model numbers turned up while passing through Bluetooth certification, pointing to two devices being added to the Zenfone 3 lineup. The model numbers suggest that these new family members will be the Zenfone 3 Laser and the Zenfone 3 Go TV, or at least adaptations of those from the Zenfone 2 series.

The specs list for the Zenfone 3 Go TV provides the device with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front-facing camera.

There is little else to be gleaned from the listing – no release date or further specifications – but the Zenfone 2 Laser appeared in August last year, so it’s safe to assume the new duo aren’t far off.

‘Suicide Squad’ Is A Blast, on Cinemas

0
suicide squad cast

Ahhh, but a blast of what exactly? Suicide Squad is fun, scrambled, and contains an excellent cast. But why all the salty reviews? Why the edgy and upset headlines? Several critics hate Suicide Squad with the intensity of an angry toddler, which isn’t unexpected since the DC cinematic universe seems to be their favorite punching bag. First thing you have to understand is that there is a character named Captain Boomerang in the film, so calm down your expectations of seeing something remotely rational. I’ve read the comics for Suicide Squad on and off again for years and David Ayer blew me away with his surprisingly faithful adaptations of the characters and by capturing the feel of the comics. Suicide Squad isn’t the grim, dark Batman V Superman, and it isn’t the silly heart of gold criminal group from Guardians of The Galaxy. These are hardened homicidal criminals in a world of flying aliens and a rich guy who likes to dress up like a bat – so buckle up and expect things to get super weird and disjointed.

enchantress___suicide_squad_movie___dc_comics_by_whitelemon-d9w6q2a

Jared Leto’s Joker took me a while to warm up to but by the end of the movie I loved this new version of The Joker. Leto’s performance is intense, uncomfortable and you don’t doubt for a second that The Joker is a real, unhinged psychopath. His chemistry with Margot Robbie who plays Harley Quinn is undeniable, which is a good thing because she steals the show. Margot Robbie’s Harley is twisted, nuanced and delightful. She captures all of the character’s broken logic and conflicting ideologies. Harley is fiercely capable and independent but not when faced with her paramour, The Joker. They are both slaves to each other, and it is clear The Joker can’t not love Harley, which is an intriguing performance decision because ultimately despite all of his evil, this relationship is the one thing that humanizes him and the one thing that dehumanizes her. Harley convinces herself that she is okay with this clearly unhealthy life, but deep down she just wants to have a “normal” relationship which is also still slightly off and absolutely dated. Harley is not a hero, not a role model, not a healthy example of who a woman, or who any person should be and you have to be okay with understanding that a character’s existence and actions in a film do not condone those things.

Will Smith is fantastic as Deadshot, blending a heavy mix of comedy and drama into almost every moment for the character. On several occasions Deadshot got a round of applause from the audience after some exceptionally epic and jaw dropping moments. Viola Davis is amazing as Amanda Waller in this movie; she walks in and owns the world with such cold-blooded detachment that it makes you realign your idea of what a villain is. This is a movie that relies less on the plot line and the main villain than on the performances of a nearly perfectly-cast film. The main threat in the movie goes from Ghostbuster-style campy to uber creepy several times, this defines the movie itself because it does feel like a film that has been second guessed by the studio. Oddly, the inconsistent style of Suicide Squad works for it because of the instability of the characters and the diverse range of backgrounds they all come from in the comics.

Suicide Squad Movie Soundtrack Revealed

Amazon unveiled the track listing for Suicide Squad: The Album [h/t ComicBook.com], which is currently available for pre-order with the expected release date the same as the film’s. The soundtrack includes eight original songs from artists like twenty one pilots, Kehlani, Grimes, and Skylar Grey – as well as the song for which Skrillex and Rick Ross recorded a music video with Jared Leto dressed as the Joker: “Purple Lamborghini.”

Take a look at the full track listing

  • Purple Lamborghini [Explicit] by Skrillex & Rick Ross
  • Sucker For Pain (with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors) [Explicit] by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons
  • Heathens by twenty one pilots
  • Standing In The Rain (feat. Mark Ronson) [Explicit] by Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys)
  • Gangsta [Explicit] by Kehlani
  • Know Better [Explicit] by Kevin Gates
  • You Don’t Own Me (feat. G-Eazy) by Grace
  • Without Me by Eminem
  • Wreak Havoc by Skylar Grey

  • Bohemian Rhapsody by Panic! At The Disco
  • Slippin’ Into Darkness by War
  • Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival
  • I Started a Joke (feat. Becky Hanson) by ConfidentialMXSuicide-Squad-Colorful-Logo

Suicide Squad very much serves as the narrative and likely tonal connective tissue between Batman V Superman and Justice League with some brief cameos and a touch of extra world building for the DCU. Is this a perfect film? No, but it is a fun film that is getting raked over the coals while movies like The Avengers: Age of Ultron are for the most part immune, despite similar problems in plot, studio meddling, tone, agency, too many characters and a portrayal of a villain that definitely missed the mark.

Things to keep in mind before buying portable storage devices

Things to keep in mind before buying portable storage devices

Data security and storage are key points which consumers keep in mind before buying portabl storage devices. There are many other aspects which one needs to keep in consideration like money being invested, USB 3.0 vs 2.0 etc. Portable Storage devices in today’s world are also competing with the affordable online cloud storage options available.

With passage of time, there is a requirement to carry your data along. Some 5 years back people used to fulfill their requirement with help of CD’s , DVD’s but with the Improvement in technology and thank’s to recent DSLR’s and Mobile phones which are capable of making videos at 4K resolution, the need of storage devices has increased manifold. Buying Portable storage devices without considering the under mentioned points can create a lot of trouble for the consumer.

Various factors need to be considered before buying Portable storage devices.

1 Capacity of portable device

The speed with which consumers are becoming tech friendly, demand for storage devices is going to increase manifold. Amount of data generated by smart phone, tablets/iPad, DSLR’s is going to increase. SanDisk India also conducted a survey and got to know that approximately 50% of the users are facing problems related to storage. So a consumer must keep in mind capacity required before making an investment.

2 Price of portable devices

Price is an important factor to consider before buying Portable Storage devices. If consumer is able to get double capacity Storage device after paying slightly higher price, one can opt for the increased storage option.

For example-:

Let’s suppose that cost of 500 GB External HDD is Rs 3000 and 1TB External HDD costs Rs 4300 so one should opt for 1TB option.

3 Transfer speeds of portable devices

One of the most important factor to be kept in consideration is the transfer speed. There is an option of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. Obviously USB 3.0 has more speed than USB 2.0 but one need to check the compatibility that whether the device with which one is going to use their portable devices is USB 3.0 Compatible or not. Most of tech geeks recommend USB 3.0 these days.

4 Warranty factors

Portable devices are mechanical component and can have many problems in functioning over period of time. So consumer should try to get portable devices having minimum 3 years warranty and should not forget to get valid warranty card as a proof.

5 Durability and Ease of use

Portable devices such as External HDD, Thumb Drives may fall and become non-functional. So consumer is advised to go for metal drives instead of Plastic drives as metal drives are more durable and can absorb more shocks than plastic one’s.

Now a day’s portable HDD’s are having an option for accessing the data wirelessly on the smartphones with the help of their applications. These devices must offer a complete solution to manage the data effectively. So consumer need to keep in mind at least above mentioned points before investing their hard-earned money.

Once storage capacity is clear in mind of the consumer, Comparison can be done between various options made available by various vendors and pick one accordingly.

Sometimes, it’s important to say NO.

say no

IMG_20160716_164541-1

Do you have a difficulty of saying not to others? Do you know how to say no?
I know. Sometimes, even I don’t like to say no. But it’s very important that we should learn saying no to people when we actually don’t like anything. Saying yes seems easy but not the necessary answer all the time.
Say yes to the things you actually like. Don’t say yes in order to please someone.
Say yes when you actually want to do something.
Say no when you really don’t want to pursue or continue something.

Sometimes for the sake of friendship and relations, we avoid saying no. We say yes and try doing something which we can’t do or for which we don’t have time.
It’s important that we should help our friends. It’s a very good habit. But remember saying no will not disappoint people. If they are true and loyal to you, they would stay and accept your decision of saying no.

I would say that before saying yes, you should understand the implications of saying yes.
We usually say yes to little requests. But keep in mind that these small requests can pile up together and lead to a much bigger problem. Responding to some requests is required but not necessary all the time.

Realize that saying NO is OK. It’s not a big issue if you’re saying no to anyone.
And most important you should say yes when it’s actually possible for you doing things for that person for the rest of your life. Don’t be afraid of anything. Everyday people say yes or no and it’s completely fine saying no. You just need to understand that you’re not the only one saying no.

Keep it simple. Let the person that you can’t do it. You should prioritize your things.

It’s better to reply with a NO than saying nothing.

Yes, Sometimes it actually makes a person feel better because you chose to give your point of view and are being respectful. But then what matters is the way you chose to say no.

Remember saying no is important and it’s completely fine. Rather than shying away and cutting off with people, you should actually learn how to say no.

Books: Be a loyal and true friend forever

books

Books stand as a beacon of education, embodying a wealth of knowledge. They are not just sources of information; they are a conduit to pleasure, enlightenment, and companionship. This might sound surprising, but books can indeed become our most steadfast friends, always true and loyal.

The Role of Books in Our Lives

  1. Constant Companionship and Guidance: Much like how we turn to friends for advice and support, books are always there for us. Whenever confusion clouds our minds or curiosity sparks, books are our go-to resource. They offer solutions and stand by us, unwavering in their support. Unlike human friends who may falter, books are a constant, reliable presence.
  2. Diversity and Personal Connection: Books come in an array of sizes and cover a multitude of topics. This diversity ensures that everyone can find a book that resonates with their interests and needs.
  3. Mentors and Advisors: Books are more than just passive sources of information; they actively guide us. They expand our minds, develop our thoughts, and offer new perspectives.
  4. Solace and Entertainment: In moments of loneliness, books provide companionship. They serve as an engaging form of entertainment when boredom strikes and offer solace and advice in times of need.
  5. Dispellers of Ignorance: Books play a pivotal role in enlightening us, driving away the darkness of ignorance. They broaden our horizons and deepen our understanding of the world.
  6. Unconditional Support: Books are unique in their lack of demands or complaints. They offer knowledge selflessly, asking nothing in return.
  7. Pathway to Success: Books represent the journey towards success. They are treasure troves of knowledge, guiding us on the path to personal and professional growth.
  8. True Friendship: A book is a friend that understands the essence of true friendship. It remains by your side through thick and thin, never abandoning you regardless of the circumstances.

Conclusion

In a world where human connections can be fleeting, books offer a reliable and enriching form of companionship. They are not just inanimate objects but friends that grow with us, teach us, and share in our journey through life. So, if you find yourself without human companions, remember that books are waiting to fill that void. They promise a long-term relationship filled with knowledge, growth, and enjoyment. Embrace the world of books; let them become your lifelong friends.

The Dream Trespasser

street lights at night wallpaper

The mysterious night witnesses his pain

As his wings of dreams burned him up!

The streetlights glows brighter and brighter,

As his phoenix desire failed him again!

And the desires, which bloomed him every morning ,

Dimmed and faded with reality!

His hopes strangled in a whirlpool of complexities

The same streets!

The same dreams!

The same trespasser !

Yet, not the same stoppage again!!

 And,

The shattered heart pieces struggled to meet

The secrets of the dark still haunting those left voids

The same survivor

The same fighter

The same lover

Yet! not the same battlefield again!!

Those broken promises

Those unsolved questions

Those mime acts

And alas!!

His broken wings

Left the struggler behind

Left the fighter behind

Left the dream trespasser behind.

hostel life

Out of all the reasons to travel, ‘College away from home’ is one of the best goals in a student life. It is a ‘learn it the hard way’ experience where you understand yourself, defy your fears, gain confidence and enjoy independence. It is essential that one should consider hostel life at least once in his/her life; ideally for college as there is a certain amount of maturity for the age. After moving from a well pampered Indian family it would seem like a high dose of responsibility; No more bed coffees, no more pressed clothes in shelf and nobody to find the pair of your lonely sock. Living all by yourself for the first time would definitely be hard, even scary. But in the end, you just don’t find knowledge, adventure or freedom, more than anything, you find YOU.

Make new connections

Get ready to learn life - Hostel lessons

Campus life is a wonderful platform that brings similar minds from diverse demographic and cultural backgrounds under one roof. Learn to socialize and adapt yourselves to a new lifestyle. Make more friends with the natives irrespective of their age. Take guidance to know nearby localities’ required for daily needs. If you are an introvert who has trouble with making a conversation, Smile and greet. It is good to make new connections and maintain a healthy relationship.

Unique culture, food, and language

Be a part of the local festivals and celebrations. Hear the stories behind them and the reason why they are celebrated. You will be amazed by the richness each culture holds.Try the local cuisines. Food is always an essence of every ethnicity. It truly represents the nature of the people living in that area. Also be ready to learn the regional language and pump up some confidence to be bold enough to speak it out. People enjoy hearing someone try to speak their native language. It’s alright to make mistakes. Just dare to try it out. Never let fear hold you back.

New responsibilities

Exposure to cooking, washing your own clothes and vessels are insightful moments when you praise your mother in your head with all your heart. You eventually learn to be a ‘Do it yourself’ person. You understand the value of money every time you burn a hole in your pocket and wait until next month for your parents to pay you again. Keeping your belongings safe is also an art that one learns in a hard way. Every hostelite has had the experience of being locked out of your own room at least once. In the due course, you also become skilled at organizing and managing your things.

Breath of independence

With no one to monitor, hostel life gives you the feel of ultimate freedom. Enjoy the independence but use it well. Don’t forget that you have been given this independence because you are being trusted. Avoid misusing it. It calls for great self-control in doing what you think is right. Trust your instincts and never give heed to peer pressure.

Travel a lot

Beyond the academic walls is a new city waiting to be explored. Know your environment. Never hesitate to travel with new people and discover new places. Dare to pack up and look for adventure. Most campuses have clubs or groups that travel to the nearby site. Maintain a travelogue- it makes a wonderful memory for every place you visited. Make the best out of the time available and make every weekend count.

Manage time effectively

Get ready to learn life - Hostel lessons

There sure was a time when your mom would wake you with a hot cup of coffee or would beat you out of bed when you are running late. Expect no such pampering in a hostel. If you plan to be on time better hear your own alarm and wake up before your roommate occupies the shower.  There is no fixed routine beyond college hours in the campus. It is up to you to organize, plan and decide on how to go about your day. Most professors love to scroll through the index and say “I’m sure you can read this yourself”. Having a personal timetable would help reduce stress during exam season as well as give enough time to explore extra curriculars.

Maintain your personal space

Though friends become family in a new land try to maintain a certain distance. It is true there isn’t much formality amongst yourselves. But it is best to avoid having any embarrassing moment in the future. Know that too much of anything is bad and learn to be selfish at times. Never lend anything that you can’t afford to lose, even if it is one of your close friends. Talk clearly with your friends and roommate about certain things that annoy you or interfere in your personal space. Be sure to reciprocate the same.

Learn to learn

Ultimately, you have traveled all the distance to expand your knowledge in a certain field. Do justice to it. Have the curiosity to know and question everything. Use the library and discuss subject matters with your fellow mates. Talk to the professors in case you have difficulties coping with the subject or language. They would definitely be willing to help you overcome them. More than WHAT to learn, HOW to learn is the life skill that institutions teach you. Formulate what type of learning suits you and work your magic.

Arunachalam Muruganantham: A Revolutionary

0
Arunachalam

Imagine a man coming from a South Indian BPL family, having studied till the ninth standard creatingarunachalam-muruganantham-time-100-feat a business by producing affordable disposable sanitary products all because he wanted to create the perfect sanitary napkin for his wife, whose practice of using old rags and newspapers during her menstrual cycle was unhygienic and which would seriously impact her health in the long run.

Women’s health is an extremely important topic which must be made aware and publicly promoted particularly in the rural areas of India. Women coming from poor backgrounds usually do not have the option of choosing sanitary napkins over old rags, particularly due to financial problems. This is the same reason why babies in villages do not wear diapers and it is because the family simply cannot afford them. The Coimbatore-born not only provided women across India access to these sanitary napkins at a much lower rate, but also gave jobs to many women in need of them.

Realization and discovery

From this video, it is clear that he was shocked on finding out that his wife had to make a decision every month between household supplies or her “monthly supplies” because the latter were produced by large multinational corporations and would require a large chunk of money from her savings for her to be able to afford them. This stuck with her husband, and

inindiaschoolgirlsmakingtheirownpadshe decided to inspect a sanitary pad to find out what exactly they were made from and why they cost as much as they do. He was astounded by the fact that a product that required something as ordinary as cotton as the main ingredient to make could be sold for such high figures. He then realized that these high selling prices were because the manufacturing units required to produce sanitary napkins were imported and extremely expensive. This is when he decided to try and see if he could make these sanitary napkins at a lower cost than those of the multinational corporations and on the way, he devised a low cost machine which would help thousands of women in the years to come.

The journey of sanitation

When Arunachalam Muruganantham started out on his journey to create the perfect sanitary napkin, he asked his wife and sisters to try out his experimental products but they were not ready to do so, due t140307121213_arunachalam_muruganantham_con_maquina_464x261_bbc_nocredito the taboo of discussing menstruation, which is still prevalent in most of the rural areas in India. He also tried to approach women from medical colleges but they too, refused. However, this did not deter Mr. Muruganantham and so, he tried his own product on himself by attaching a pouch of liquid and connecting the tubes from the liquid to his underpants to check his product. Initial failure of his design led to years of research and finally, he created his own machine tool in which any rural woman could create world class sanitary napkins by just being provided the raw materials required.

Hardships faced

The road to success was not filled with roses for this man. When his wife initially found out about her husband’s idea, she did not support him. As his went deeper and deeper with his experiments, the rumors within the village also grew. Friends started avoiding him and he was isolated even by his wife, who got fed up and left him 18 months after he started his research on sanitary pads for which, ironically, his wife was his main motivation. Superstitious villagers thought that a demon had possessed him and he was to be “healed” by a local soothsayer.

But this did not deter Arunachalam Muruganantham’s spirit. His determination and courage to follow his goal to better the lives of millions of women in rural India remained afloat and he tried and tried until he eventually succeeded and the rest, as we know, is history.

Recognition

Recognized as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World 2014 and awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2016, Mr Muruganantham has a dream to provide women all over the world access to hygiene and make public health a global concern. But above all this, he is a great human being to have actually looked into the burdens of the Indian woman and developed a product which has helped rural India strive towards a better tomorrow.
