Chocolate – The Mood Food

Milk Chocolate Truffles and CacaoCookies

Chocolates A Girl’s Best Friend!

It is not that chocolates are a substitute for love; rather love is a substitute for chocolates. Chocolate is, let’s face it, more reliable than a man. Man cannot live on chocolate alone, but surely a woman can.

Journey of Chocolates

It all started with cocoa beans; chocolate is made from cocoa beans found on the cacao tree. Cocoa pods are harvested, crushed and fermented. Beans are roasted, graded and then grounded. Chocolate liquor is created by grinding the beans.

First people who made chocolate were the Mayas and Aztecs. They used to drink chocolate as bitter and spicy beverage called ‘Xocoatl’, which means bitter water.

In social and religious life, chocolate played an important role. It symbolised life and fertility, and was also used as medicine.

In 1528, Hernan Cortez, Spanish conquistador, brought chocolate to Europe. The drink spread from Spanish courts to other European courts. In 1615, the Spanish princess, Anne of Austria married Luis xiii of France with which chocolates came to France and in 1657, a Frenchman opened the first chocolate house in London.

The first solid chocolate in a stick form was sold in 1674. At the end of the 17th century, chocolates came to Germany.

Benefits of Chocolates

Chocolates have several benefits – may be good for heart, helps improve circulation, helps cut down blood pressure, flavones present in chocolates helps in preventing the oxidations of bad cholesterol, which reduces the stickiness of blood platelets and improves blood vessel elasticity. Theo bromine found in chocolate was found to treat coughs better than codeine. It acts as a mood enhancer, and prevents women of violent mood, heart diseases and hypertension.

Chocolates are truly a girl’s best friend, and who will not accept such a friend with so many qualities.

“TUBELIGHT” will shine on EID in 2017

Bollywood was not over success of Salman Khans’s ” Sultan” and here Kabir Khan started the shoot of his next flick “Tubelight” this August. Rumours arose last year that Kabir would sign Salman for his next project. And, it was only during an interview for the promotion of Sultan that Salman confirmed his involvement in the project and quoted ” excited for the unique project “.

The movie is based on Sino-Indian War on the life of a soldier who fell in love with a Chinese woman. It’s said that Salman even asked Kabir to approach Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor to approach for the role. But, given the strong storyline of the film,Chinese actress Zhu Zhuwas offered the role.

Salman-Khan-Tubelight-Movie-Heroine-Zhu-Zhu

Zhu Zhu is a well known name in Chinese movie industry. Also, she has some Hollywood flicks in her list. Asked about the onscreen pairing of Salman and Zhu Zhu, Kabir said” Zhu Zhu is not only talented, but has a zeal to act in Bollywood. We had done auditions in Malaysia, China and even United States. And we instantly offered her the role for her strong onscreen appearance. “

Kabir and Salman last worked together in “Ek Tha Tiger”, which, no wonder, was a great success. Even Zhu Zhu is said to be a great fan of all Kabir Khan’s films. She said ” Kabir make films which are so entertaining and at same time, has a touch of humanity. Giving a message to audience without even boring them is something every director should know. And Kabir does that perfectly.”

"TUBELIGHT" will shine on EID in 2017We saw Salman experimenting and somehow, being choosy for his roles in last few films. Whether it is Suraj Barjatia’s “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” was a family drama, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” show him as a common man set to send Pakistani young girl to her home. In Sultan, he played the role of a wrestler- turned -MMA fighter. With PRDP collecting approximately 120 crores, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan shows no mercy and set a record 900 crores collection. Well, that is more than the GDP of many countries.

The Sino-Indian War is not something cherished in India, given the fact that we had some major setbacks before and after the war. And thus, making a movie on such an issue is a great gamble. But, given the large fan following of Salman and audience’s interest to watch him pairing on screen with Chinese actress, Kabir is believed to had his odds checked already.

The movie is not yet in halfway completion and controversies are up again. Lately, a poster of Tubelight was shared frequently on Twitter and other social network sites been claimed as the “official poster” of the movie. Salman was shown wearing a black hood and 3 arrows on his back. It didn’t took people long to find out that the poster was copied from CW series “Arrow” season 1 starring Stephen Amell. The “Arrow” fans surely didn’t liked this move and blamed Salman and Kabir Khan for copying the poster from the show. But as expected, an official confirmation was made from Kabir Khan Production House stating that the poster was “fake” and “fan made”. Well, surely if someone wants to see Salman as ” Arrow “, the reaction proved that he/she might be expecting too much.

no love lostShe woke up startled, she was late again, she hurried to the bathroom to take shower and get ready for work. As she stopped by a red signal, she saw a boy selling bestsellers, aghast! She saw her name printed on the cover. She pulled down the windscreen to take a closer look but the boy just mocked at her waving the book and slowly he moved back, back, back and back…. suddenly an ambulance came blaring its siren, the noise was deafening, she put her hands to her ears but the noise increased and pop! She opened her eyes. Wow! It was the same dream all over again, every time she reached for the book written by her, it vanished from her sight.

Amy woke up at her usual time and mechanically she headed towards the washroom to get ready for jogging. Everything in her life went according to a set routine, wake up at 7, go out jogging at 7.15 then back at 7.45, shower followed by stapled breakfast of cornflakes and skimmed milk, leave for the work at 8.30 and be at her desk at 10.

She was not a recluse, she had her own set of colleagues, she went out with them, partied and mixed, but never did she reveal her true self to them. Yes, there was a real Amy behind this prim and proper, well organized Amy the banker.  She had won the employee of the year award three times in a row, she was one of the most efficient executives her bank had. She had her own house, a sleek car, attractive payroll and a handsome bank balance. Amy had everything going her way, she could complain about nothing until the day she met Jordan Jr.

Jordan Jr. was the son of one of their most esteemed clients, Mr. Jordan aka Iron Man because of his no nonsense attitude. He was a man of very few words, he always wanted the very best of the services and obviously he always received it. It was on his instruction that Amy was appointed to deal with his son because she was his favorite and he wanted nothing but the best.

Amy waited impatiently for Heath in her chamber, she was not the one to entertain single clients, she always dealt with groups of aspiring startup entrepreneurs, handled workshops or trained other newbies, she had crossed the stage of pleasing a single client to get business. However, this was the order from the director himself so she had no choice but to wait for him. She planned to explain their investment plans, introduce him with new businesses and call off the meeting.

“Helloooo there,” someone barged in her chamber without knocking. Startled she looked up and for a moment the earth slipped beneath her stilettos. She just looked at those hazel eyes and all the memories flashed before her. She was in her high school when she had first seen him. She was new to this town and had very little knowledge about the metropolitan cities for she grew up in a farm. Treehouse was her favorite abode, day in and day out she read fairy tales, Aesop fables and fantasy stories. She stuck to classics, and Brontes were here favorite. Initially she was the princess and the treehouse was her castle but as she grew up, prince charming was replaced by Heathcliff, yes the Heathcliff, the dark devil who loved his Catherine with total fury. He burned her, himself and the whole world with his fiery love for her. Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. She dreamt of someone possessive, dominating and intimidating to sweep her off her feet and take her to the Wuthering Heights where they would live happily forever.

long lost loveHer first crush, first kiss, and first and only love was Heath aka Jordan Jr. They were instantly drawn to each other due to their similar interests, books, paintings, poetries, museum, heritage, history and so on. They were too good to be true, whether it was the name or his personality that made Amy starry eyed every time she looked at him remained a mystery to her, but she loved with him with her heart and soul.

Heath was named after his mother’s favorite hero, of course the immortal lover Heathcliff. His parents were the perfect mismatch, her mother was a hopeless romantic, philanthropist and idealist while his father was a shrewd businessman, practical and stubborn. Heath always felt that the over domineering personality of his father was too much for the fragile disposition of his mother. Much to his father’s chagrin, he was more of his mother than his father.

Unlike the smooth life of Amy, his life was rough, full of turmoil, the only solace he found was in her company. They always dreamt of opening an Art School where they would encourage artists be it a writer, painter, photographer or a musician and so on. But as luck would have it, Heath was sent off to one of the top business colleges of the country after school.

my storyAmy was devastated not because he shattered their dream of joining the same college of art or of opening the Art School together but he left her abruptly. He did not even provide her with a forwarding address or a contact information. He did not even bid her a proper farewell. She had no idea where he went. For a few months she was frantic thinking where he had vanished but one day one of their common friends gave her the message that he has left the town and gone to some business school. She realized that he was his father’s son.

That day, something snapped inside her, she ceased to be the same person. She decided to be a better business executive than Heath. She hated everything she used to love once, she burned her tree house and stacked away all the fairytale romance in a trunk. No more was she a free bird but a mechanical human robot.

Heath clicked his fingers in front of her face and brought her back from her reverie. His expressions did not give away anything, he carried this broad grin on his face and before she could start off with her presentation, he blurted, “Care to meet over coffee?” She gave him a steely look and replied in a clipped tone, “Mr. Jordan, you have only half an hour at your disposal and I plan to execute my POA for you. Shall we start now?”

“Wow! That is some heavy duty business thingy, but tell you what Amy…” “Miss Shimmers,” interrupted Amy. “Great, so you still single,” Heath drooled mischievously. Amy was finding it hard to cope with this boy of a man, Heath had become naughty and mischievous instead of being practical and sly, plus he looked all the more handsome now, his golden tan, shabby dark hair and casual attire, he was every bit a rogue she so loved to despise.

She tried to talk business with him and he only piqued her with personal remarks like “Why so serious?!!” in Joker tone or “Coffee, Tea or Me,” rhapsody or commenting on how funny she looked in her formal dress, he also showed his displeasure towards her bob cut hair. The more Amy tried to throw him off, the deeper he went in her skin, call it his charm or her weakness for him.

She called off the meeting after 30 minutes. She tried her best to concentrate on her work but Heath kept intruding her thoughts. She made up her mind and spoke with her seniors, she refused to deal with Jordan Jr. any further and made it crystal clear to them.

Much to her surprise, Heath did not turn up after that. One month went by without any news of him, she was once again agitated by the whole thing, she so badly wanted to meet see his smiling face one more time, listen to his nonsensical talks, she actually missed him and hated herself for that.

artist cornerOne night as she sat by her table without her businesslike bob cut wig, her long wavy hair was loose and covered her back, she looked so much like Rapunzel when she was away from the maddening crowd. Automatically, she took out her pen and paper and wrote….

You are no sky with silver linings
But sunshine you are
You would never promise a happy ever after
But prince charming you are
I bask in your glory
I lose myself in your eyes
I consider myself to be the reason you smile
I hate to admit but you are my life
I am more of myself when I have you by my side
I forget all the constrains when you are close by
Can’t we escape to a fairyland
To this big bad world, Can’t we just bid goodbye

Call it destiny or stars, no sooner did she finish writing, someone rang the bell. It was quite late, she went to see who it is. As she opened the door, she saw Heath at her door, before she could utter a word, Heath snatched the notepad from her. Shucks! It was way too late for Amy to reprimand herself for carrying the notepad to the door. “Amy, Amy dreamy Amy, the Rapunzel waiting for her prince to come to her rescue. Romantic Amy still wasting pen and paper in the technical world!” He droned, she tried to snatch the pad from him but just couldn’t because he was way too taller for her 5”2. She blushed red as he read out her poem.  next page

techBLOG

Today in this technical world there are many horrible organizations who showcase junk in the name of latest technology related information for us, these organizations are eating up all the new tech. enthusiasts as they don’t know the reliable resources and end up inside the Bermuda triangle of these companies, which make them lose their interest by making them read their low-grade content. So to solve this issue I have come up with a small list of resources that pass my (personal) quality tests and which I would certainly recommend to any new enthusiast.

Some of the top positions are acquired (in the list) by these organizations;

1.)  TECHCRUNCH (https://techcrunch.com)

tc

TechCrunch provides you with it’s all round knowledge base, they have all the news and stories about your favorite pieces of tech. and gadgets. TechCrunch also has their own review section, where they provide you with the reviews about all kinds of new and latest gadgets. One thing that makes them stand out is their focus towards new startups, they maintain a separate section for them so that you can easily search the ideas that people are working on. They even have money rewards for the top startups, how awesome is that!?

2.) CNET (stylized as c|net (www.cnet.com)

cnet

c|net is one of the old players in the list, they have been serving the world since 1994 i.e. from last 22 years. They have different sections and specializations like Download section, News section, Reviews, and Videos. They provide with news and reviews about all the cutting edge technologies in all fields, they also have videos which perfectly describes your topics.

 3.) MASHABLE (http://mashable.com/)

mash

Mashable’s are my favorite, they have all the categories you can think of, for example, Videos, Social Media, Tech, Business, Entertainment, Lifestyle etc. You can even get reviews about GOT episodes and plots of various all time favorite movies and books. They even have different sites according to your locations, like Mashable Asia, Mashable Australia, Mashable France and Mashable UK.

4.) TECH2 (http://tech.firstpost.com/)

tech2

Tech2 is yet another awesome site for tech geeks, they have all sorts of categories which a good tech site must have, in addition to these features tech2 have this magic “compare” button on their site which lets you chose from wide varieties of gadgets and compare them with each other, which helps the users in getting all the knowledge about different products and decide the best buy for them. Also just click on the “FIRSTPOST” button on their homepage, it will take you on a world tour.

5.)  TechRadar (http://www.in.techradar.com/)64-tech2

If you have to buy a phone, tablet or any laptop and you are confused between the choices that are available in the market, then TechRadar is the thing for you. The site has it’s own rating system which rates after researching, all the categories such as features, technologies used and cost.

The site also provides some basic tutorials and tips for recent and trending android games such as Pokemon Go, you can also get all the android related apps and development news and updates for here.

This concludes the top 5 rank holders (according to me) of amazing tech info sites, which I would definitely suggest to every tech geek out there. Right to Information is our birthright, and maintaining proper quality is really important, which most of the companies do not focus on, these companies must understand that their main motive is to provide useful information and not to show fancy ads for generating revenue under the cover of providing information.

CHARMINAR at 12.00 AM

CHARMINAR

The thing about people who love their cities in which they are born is that all the while they keep trying to move out but the moment they do, the pine to get back. They feel a sudden overwhelming rush of sensations which becomes too hard to handle, somewhat similar to the feeling when you see a big tree swaying vigorously from side to side in a deadly storm. I am born and brought up in Kolkata. My extent of living in other cites goes up to spending two weeks at my maternal uncle’s house in Pune but now I know something about myself. My city lives within me more than I could ever anticipate and there is no getting out.

The day I boarded the train to Secunderabad preparing myself to go through with a rigorous journey of twenty six hours, little had I known that life has its own curious ways of sorting things out, it just needs the right moment and situation. I have been having this thought that maybe, its time for me to step out beyond the securities of my home and my family and hence I decided to appear for an exam at a reputed university in Hyderabad. I will be honest, all I had in my mind was a futile hope for a miracle that I get chosen when in fact I had zero preparation. My sole idea was to experience this historical city that I have read so much about, just undergo a change. Secunderabad had me awestruck, its broadly stretched roads, well maintained traffic, law abiding people all of it gave me an eerie feeling of discomfort. By that time I had already started to miss the easy going nature of Kolkata. It was a Sunday and there was not a single young face in the neighborhood where I was staying just casually taking a stroll or enjoying themselves over a late evening brew. I know I am being somewhat irrational taking into consideration those points which mean nothing or matter very little and will be otherwise considered ways of degeneration for a metropolitan but I really am not looking for justification here. One thing that I inherited from Kolkata is to feel good about myself without other’s consent. Hyderabad was turning out to be too good for me, I found myself staring blankly at the roads below out of my hotel’s room while a ticking clock kept notifying me of an impending disaster I know not what. I felt like a misfit, I was unable to keep up with the speed and I had to get back my sanity.

chairminnar

“no one will be willing to go madam, old Hyderabad so late at night” the words of my hotel’s manager left me crestfallen. I guess he sensed my turmoil and the nest thing I heard from him was, “I could ask my personal driver to take you if you want, just for an hour”. All of a sudden a found a little piece of Kolkata in that lounge of my hotel. As I stood speechless in front of him he smiled at me and said, “ye sahar bura nahi hain madam, kho hui cheez mil jati hain agar dhundna chaho toh”. These were the exact words I once used to describe Kolkata to a friend of mine who had come from the United States and now, this insignificant manager of an insignificant hotel were using them to make me feel at home. Later that night I found myself standing in front of Charminar, that clock on it displayed ten minutes to twelve. It felt good. The man who drove me there, Nazeer, asked me why did I want to visit it so late. My explanation to him was, “I am stuck in between my past and future nazeer bhai, I need to embrace my present for a moment here”. That night time stood still in front of that huge building, for a while I forgot the wheezing traffic or the shouts of the people around, the surrounding became a blur. I was taken back to that time of Quli Qutub Shah and with my eyes closed I observed the building grow in front of me, workers intricately designing and working their marvels upon the stones. I wondered was it possible that maybe, while inspecting the work in progress, the great ruler contemplated the idea that one day, centuries later his beloved minar was going to save a lost soul. There was a man with a cart in front of me selling some sweets. There were gulabjamuns and some other things I don’t remember the names now.

He handed over a plate to me full of sweets without me asking and he smiled at me. As I tasted the cream of the gulabjamun melt in my mouth, my heart was filled with a sensation sweeter” than all the desserts of the world put together. “where are you from didi?” “Kolkata”. “you are bangali??” “you too?” “my family lives in Barasat. I have been staying here for the last five years now. This city gets to you doesn’t it, just allow it some time to settle”. His words came flying at me as the police carrived with the gong of twelve and urging the people to wrap up their businesses and as I saw him walk away with his little cart and a little of Kolkata, home, that he left for me.

Ayurveda- The harmony of body, mind and soul.

The modern age that we strive in portrays a lifestyle where all our day to day tasks have been made extremely easy for man, with all the gadgets and machines equipped which were previously not known at all. On the contrary, we can say that all these gadgets have made lives complicated and competitive. We find ourselves under stress that hasn’t been experienced in the yesteryears, because with all these technologies available, world expects a lot more from him. These leads to family breakup and disease ridden children, and all this is increasing due to aggressiveness and tension. In this race of life, each one tends to cater his own needs causing a vicious circle of pressure and strain.

The origin of Ayurveda, was marked more than 5000 years ago, and to our surprise it is one of the very few things that are still as important as they were 100 decades ago, or we can say it holds more importance now. Its use adds a holistic approach to our lives.

The Ayurveda schedule, inculcates a sense of peace, and unity in one’s life. These ‘dincharya’ are meant to enhance both mental and physical health of man. These have no side-effects and are effortless to follow.

  • A regular massage of the body with herbal oils, enrich the effect of exercise and make the body suppler.
  • Ayurveda also helps in rapidly removing toxins and helps recover more quickly.

For any traditional science in India, two types history exist: Mythological history and Factorial History. Mythological history played a big role in keeping the scientific heritage. At the same time, Ayurveda is based on factorial history a lot.

THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES ON WHICH AYURVEDA IS BASED:
It is a very simple science, and it’s fundamental principles are all related to nature. Above all, we are all parts of nature. We are created by nature, nurtured by nature and taken by nature. Every vital breath, conconsciousness are given by nature. An individual life and nature are the same. If this principle is clear then how Ayurveda works is also clear. For human body, mind, and spirit, all the supplementation and solutions are available in nature. Understanding it, everyone can make the use of natural resources to find his or her own balance and to enhance life.

Acer, the famous Taiwanese electronics and hardware MNC, released in March 2015 the largest Chromebook ever, offering a bigger and better Chrome OS experience at an affordable price of around 250 or 350 dollars.

The first Chromebook to boast of a 15.6-inch Full HD display with its wide-viewing-angle technology and an anti-glare coating, Chromebook 15 enables you to watch movies and videos on a large clear screen. Larger and thicker than other similar devices such as the 13-inch Samsung Chromebook 2, the 13-inch Toshiba Chromebook 2, and the 14-inch HP Chromebook 14, Acer’s Chromebook 15 weighs 4.4 pounds, making it relatively heavy as well. The system comes in either white, making it look sleek, or black.

The most remarkable feature of Chromebook 15 is its sound system. Your room resonates with sounds produced by the two full-sized speakers facing upwards, and you don’t even have to struggle to hear a whisper!

A depth of 1.3 mm makes the Chromebook 15’s black island-style keys comfortable for typing on. You can find function keys like forward, back, brightness, refresh, power, full screen and volume on the top row of the keyboard, just like on any other Chromebook. Below the keyboard sits an accurate 4.2×3-inch touchpad, the biggest in any Chromebook, enabling three-finger swiping and two-finger scrolling on the desktop, as well as effortless clicking, zooming and pinching.

A well-performing built-in webcam is perched above the display screen. Supporting High Dynamic Range imaging, this 720p webcam offers you high-quality video calls with clear pictures. A USB 2.0 port and an SD card reader sit on the right side of the Chromebook 15 with a Kensington lock slot, while its left side is lined with a headphone or micro compo port, HDMI and USB 3.0_ a whole line-up of options for connectivity!

Besides Google Apps available on the web, including Gmail, Google Drive, Web Store, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Play, Docs and Chrome, the Chromebook 15 features specific Chromebook tools, such as Files, Settings, System and Camera. You can also avail a few apps that work offline, such as Google Docs, Evernote, Angry Birds, and Sunrise Calendar.

With its 1.6-GHz dual-core Intel Celeron 3205U CPU, Acer’s Chromebook 15 takes only 5.3 to 7 seconds to boot to Chrome OS! Furthermore, its MIMO 2×2 802.11 ac wireless technology allows you to enjoy a wireless internet performance three times faster than that of the HP Chromebook 14, the Samsung Chromebook 2, and the Toshiba Chromebook 2. Chromebook 15 also beats earlier generations of devices hollow with a 16GB or 32GB SSD, 2GB or 4GB RAM, and a four-cell 48-Whr battery lasting the whole day. An international one-year limited warranty is offered to you by Acer on the Chromebook 15.

Despite sporting a large display, the image quality of Chromebook 15 may be found to be declining gradually, and you’re left wishing for a more vibrant and colorful screen. Nevertheless, with its huge display screen, loud speakers, speedy performance and long-lasting battery, Acer’s pretty sturdy Chromebook 15 is certainly worth a buy!

Reliance Jio G Volte

Yes! the future of sim is here. With the new Jio Sim, Reliance has provided a major breakthrough to this technological era. The most trending and exciting grab is gaining heights, as Reliance is introducing its new sim with more thrilling offers.

reliance_jio_in_useAt first, the sim was available only for the Reliance users and later with Reliance’s own Lyf products. Reliance then extended its services to few particular Samsung and LG smartphones, but with the rise in demands, Reliance was not able to hold its product and finally now its available for everyone with few exceptions. As confirmed by Gadget 360, now owners of any 4G smartphones can walk into Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini and get their hands on the new Reliance Jio with its exciting Preview Offers which gives three months of unlimited data, calling, SMS and of course access to Reliance Jio Services JioOnDemand.relieance-lyf-earth-front-759

Although the Sim is not available in all the Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini Outlets, few of them are at discretion to offer the sim for free as there has been no official directive from Reliance Jio with respect to the same. As said by the Gadget 360, that if-if few stores deny of not providing the sim on the basis of not-Lyf, non-LG or non-Samsung issues then one can hunt for the other outlets.

Recent updates show that while the LG or Samsung users need to provide a QR code to avail the sim through My Jio App, other 4G users are spared of this need without worrying about the QR Codes. One just needs to produce the KYC documents to avail the sim and the offer.

Reliance Jio which is currently testing its network is expected to do a commercial launch of its network in the coming months.

You can refer to Gadget for a detailed description on Jio. Here are the links:

1. Eggs are bad for heart- Yes it is true that eggs contain substantial amount of cholesterol in their yolks and yes cholesterol is that fatty stuff which contributes to blockage of arteries that lead to heart attack, but labeling eggs as “not good for heart” is completely unjustified.
